Divination Lesson 1 - Basic Astrology - The Sun Sign
 

Antonio began to set up the classroom. Today's lesson would be pretty basic, nothing that even beginning students couldn't handle. He knew that some of the students had been a little nervous about the Divination lesson, and so decided to start with simple but useful things and build up towards bigger stuff later.

At the front of the room was a large poster showing the 12 signs of the zodiac -

The room was set up pretty much as normal, with desks rather than cushions to sit on, and no crystal balls or ouija boards were present anywhere.

"Have a seat, everyone," Antonio called. "I hope all of you had a good summer, and we'll get started in just a little while."

Arya skipped into the classroom and looked around. She wasn't to sure if she wanted to take this class but thought it couldn't hurt to check it out. Taking a seat in the front she placed her bag beside her, taking out her quil and parchement. Looking at the professor she gave a small smile, "Hello Professor!"

Satine hurried into the classroom and smiled at the Professor, "Howzit Professor! How was your summer?" she said as she passed and headed towards a seat towards the front of the classroom. She quickly unpacked her supplies and placed her purple bag on the floor. She crossed her legs and settled in for the lesson.

Glancing at the board, she quickly copied down the table on her parchment using a different color ink for each sign. When she got to her sign, she quickly circled it and put a star around it.

Reese headed into the classroom and the first thing she noticed that there were desks instead of cushions. That was cool, she guessed. Though, she preferred cushions since they were a lot more comfy than desks. As she turned her attention to the teacher desk, her jaw dropped slightly. Professor Dumont?! She knew he had to be teaching a different subject once he realized Lawson had teached Muggle Studies, but she would have NEVER expected him to teach Divination.

"Hello Professor Dumont," she greeted him, and then made her way over to one of the desks. She pulled a quill and some ink out of her bag as well as her Divination book and placed them all on the desk in front of her.

Damon walked into the classroom and noticed the new professor of this class. A very good professor of course. Then he saw the zodiac descriptions and looked at the thing a bit. He already knew what sign he was. He found a place to wait for class to start.

Fred walked right onin tto the Divinations classroom with his book in hand ready for whatever and saw the professor and was a bit suprised, with a bit of confusion on his face he said, "Hey professor", as he took his seat and waited for the lesson to begin thinking whats up with this but knowing he would have to go along with it regardless.

Emily walked in to class, she was kind of nervous. But then she saw Arya sitting by herself in the front. "Hello Professor," she said. Then she claimed the seat next to Arya. "Hey Arya," she said, taking out her ingrediants.

Barry walked into the classroom. He was suprised to see Professer Dumont but he figured that if Lawson had moved to Muggle Studies, Dumont would go somewhere. He liked Dumont " Hello professer" he said geninually happy to see him. Barry knew him well.
"Like the new job?" he asked sitting down at the back,takeing out everything he would need. But Divination wasn`t one of his faveroute lessons. Where was the spells?

Marie walked into the divination class not knowing what to expect. Looking around the room she notices the desks instead of cushions. "Hello Professor, how are you today?" she asks as she takes a seat at the back of the room. Looking at the chart hanging in front of the room she quickly finds her sign but has no clue what all of it means.
Watching the door she hopes some of her freinds come in soon so she has someone to work with if they need partners today. Well really she was hoping Evan would come in soon. Not wanting him to think she was watching for him though she turns her attention back to the chart in the front.

Walking to the classroom, becoming really tired of all those stairs, and the first thing she noticed was not the zodiac signs, but that Professor Dumont was there. Really? So this was his new position...what's with all the teachers changing positions?

"Hello Professor." Evelyn said quietly as she walked to a back seat as usual and taking out a dark purple notebook with the word Divination written on the front in silver ink. Then her usual quill and ink. Sighing, as tired as ever, she leaned back on the chair, finally noticing that there were desks and zodiac signs. Aw well, at least she knew stuff about the topic and pfft, desks were comfier anyway.

Herminny confidently walked into her favorite class ready with her book in her arms for whatever this class may bring because she loved studying divination and always was on top of her game. As she entered the classroom she saw who she had remembered to be her Muggle Studies professor but since Muggle studies was being taught by the same tprofessor she felt was irresponsible in his previous post that position sure did suit him, she just hoped professor Dumont was just as good as there previous Divinations teacher, where is he anyway she thought as she said, "Hey professor", as she took her seat and waited for the lesson to begin

Choluna walked in the classroom and spotted Arya at the front of the classroom! She wondered if she should go sit by her. Was she the one who was mad at Choluna or was it the other girl- what was her name... Allison? She thought maybe she could make a new impression on Arya, so she sat in the seat next to her. "Good day, Professor!" she said slightly nodding her head and smiling her big, toothy smile! Her mother always said that her smile light up a room... how she missed her mother... "Hello, Arya! Do you remember me from the Ravenclaw house table? Sorry! No hard feelings, right?" She, again, smiled her big grin at Arya! She really hoped that it was the other girl that disliked her!

Elisabeta wandered into the classroom and took a seat and hoped that she would learn good things in divination

Lucy skipped into the room, ready for Divination. She was excited to begin the lesson and she chose a seat near the front of the room. As she sat down, she noticed the poster at the front. Ahh, Aries. She smiled and said, "Hello, Professor."

Well this was going to be different.Professor Dumont was teaching Divination? Hmmm.It was a good enough reason to attend.That and the fact Sarah wanted to keep the points up for the badgers.She liked seeing the yellow jewels higher than the others.

Entering the classroom, she was surprised to see it layed out like any other.Gone were the bean bags and insense burning slowly, strangling the nostrils.In it's place were chairs and desks.How very normal.Chuckling to herself, Sarah made her way to an empty seat, passing Professor Dumont as she did so. "Hello Professor!" she beamed, slinging her bag down on the floor and planting herself in a seat. "Had a good summer I hope, Sir?"

" Hi Sarah" Rex told her.

" Hi Danny" Rex told him. Jason told me that Professor DuMont had been the Muggle Studies professor" Rex said to Barry.
Hello Professor Dumont, sir" Rex told him. " My birthday is Nov.24. So looks like I am Saggitarius professor" Rex explained to him.

Lucia nervously walked up the steps to the Divination classroom in the tower.
When she stepped into class the first thing she noticed at the front of the room was a large poster showing the 12 signs of the western zodiac.
After she stopped and looked at it to find her sign she found an empty deck and sat down.
She then proceeded to take out her divination schoolbook, parchment, a phoenix quell and a bottle of black ink. She sat then neatly on the deck.

Evan walked in the room, a little out of breath. He had run all the way from SCR to here, afraid he might miss the class. He entered the class, and the first thing he noticed was not the professor or students in the class, but zodiacs chart. He made a face. Were they to learn zodiacs? The stupid and wrong belief that non-living planets could choose people due to their birth and then affect their whole life with their routine movements? Pfff. C'mon Professor Dumont. He was better than that. Maybe he should have left Kapoor teach it. At least they learnt real divination, not some fairy tales told by idiots. This lesson was not going to be good.

Evan took a hesitant step back towards the door. He still had chance to run back. But Slytherin also needed points. He went through a little dilemma, but success won and he, with the same expression of disbelief and disappointment, looked at the students. If he was to attend, he wanted to be at least with someone he could have fun with. Ah, Marie. A smile spreaded across his face. "Hey there." he said as he sat next to him. Now all he needed to do was to act as if he was listening, and let Marie answer questions. She was in the top 5 last year, so she could as well answer for him too.

Jake walked in to the divination room. "hello Professor" he said still taking in the surroundings. His eyes fell on the chart at the front of the class. Taking a seat, he waited for the class to start

Kay walked into the Divination's classroom. She looked around and saw alot of people she knew. Walking to a set she gave a little wave to the Professor. "Hello Professor, How are you today?" Kay asked get her things out for class.

"Hi, Arya." Kay said smiling.

Kay waved and smiled at Damon. "Hi, Barry. How are you?" Kay asked looking at the information and the board.

"Marie How are you?" Kay asked. Kay knew that they weren't really talking but Kay still thought of Marie as a friend.

Kay saw Elisabeta and gave a little wave. She smiled at her and hope that she was having a good time at Hogwarts.

"Hi Sarah. How are your classes going?" Kay asked as she started to write down the notes and the board.

Kay looked up at the sound of Rex's voice and hoped that he would sit by her.

Kylie walked into the room, she'd never gone to Divination the year prior and was both nervous and excited for today's class. "Hello Professor." She said, before taking a seat near Carter's.

"Hey Carter." She said just before seating herself.

Lucille walked into class and glanced up at the board at the front of the room. Hmmm - looked interesting. Perhaps she could have some high hopes..er...NOT to fail this class. Maybe.

"'Lo, Professor," Lucille said before flashing a grin and sitting at a desk.

Rex sits down next to Kay. " Wow, I forgot to ask you your birthday" Rex told Kay. Rex hid his face for not knowing.

Sarah looked up as she heard her name being said, twice.Spotting Rex and Kay not far away, she gave them a small wave and a thumbs up in response to Kay's question.Then she proceed to put her finger to her lips, before whispering to them both. "Nice to see you," she smiled. "But try and keep the talking down to a minimum.Don't want you both getting into trouble now, do we?" she winked, turning her attention back to the front and studying the board.

No more talking in class, promise" Rex formed the words from his mouth to Sarah in a silent manner.

Kay smiled at Rex and shake her head. "It's ok. Why would you think of that?" she thought about it and realized that she didn't know his. "I guess I'm just as bad. I never asked you about your. Did I miss it?" Kay said sadly. "My birthday is in march, on the nineth."

"Ok, don't worry. We won't talk in class." Kay said smiling at her friend.

Arya was drawing doddles on her parchement when Emily came and sat beside her. Looking up she smiled at her friend, "Hey Em, hows it goin?" She started to swing her feet as looked at Emily.

Arya turned around when she heard her name. Glancing around for a familiar face her eyes landed on Kay. "Hey Kay." She waved before turning back to Emily.

How could she not remember her. She was the one who ruined her morning breakfast with her friends, and caused the fight or whatever they had last night. Arya was trying to forget her, but Choluna wasn't making it easy. Arya frowned at the girl. She wasn't one to hold a grudge but but she would make an exception for this girl. "Yea...I remember you."She spoke dryly before turining her attention back to Emily.

It was Carter! Choluna hadn't seen Carter in... well FOREVER! "Hey Carter! It's me, Choluna! Remember last term? I haven't seen you in forever! Do you remember me wiht Keeley and Bella? They said they haven't heard from you in awhile, either!" She hoped he remembered! She had already been embarrassed enough from being thought of as a stalker by Arya... she really didn't feel like she fit in! And she really was starting to not like Arya!

Lily walked into the small round room at the top of the ladder and took a seat on a stool beside a table. She pulled out a piece of parchment and her divination textbook and began taking notes from the board. She liked the idea of this subject but was unsure of how she'd cope as the year progressed. Lily read the chart as she copied it. She was a Picses according to the chart.

"Yeah he did. But we`ve got Lawson now, he`s not so bad." Barry said hoping Rex would understand that he didn`t want to talk in class
Barry smilled at Kay and nodded in a way to say, they were good. He then looked to the frount and wondered why the class was taking so long to start

Nicoletta sat down in a desk and took a look at the sign at the front. Let's see, my birthday's on Semptember fourth so I'm a...... Virgo! she thought. "Hello Proffesor." she said.

Antonio greeted all the students, happy to see the attendance was so high already. "We're going to get started in just a little while," he said. "In the meantime, why don't each of you take a good look at the chart I have here at the front of the room. I've passed around a copy for each of you so you can tell what your sun sign is. The way you determine the sun sign is simply by using the day you were born. For instance, my birthday is July 19, so that makes me a Cancer."

Kay looked up from her notes and smiled back at her cousin. Think about birthday's and realized why Rex had asked. He didn't want to know for himself, but for class. She blushed a little and looked away so know one would see.

It had taken Oliver a fair amount of time to find the Divination classroom but luckily, he had left for the lesson uncharacteristically early and thankfully got there on time.

A little out of breath as he entered the classroom, his eyes swept over the room. A few familiar looking faces but none he had actually talked to.. except one. He smirked at the Hufflepuff prefect, who was busy doing her boring prefecty duty, and went to sit next to her, discarding his bag on the floor under the desk. He turned and looked at her. “Hello.” He said quietly, and kept it as that.

Hearing the professor, he picked up the chart on the desk in front of him and began to study it thoughtfully. He was a Gemini.. but he knew that already.

Miles looked down at the chart on his desk his mind really off wondering where Fia was. He looked up at the professor spoke and then back down at the chart. His birthday...right...April 16th so that made him an...Aries! Interesting. Looking around he waited for more instructions his fingers drumming lightly on the desk.

Lucille took the sheet and stared at it, not really knowing why. She already knew she was a Leo, which was perfect - it was her favourite.

Tehheeeee.

Was she supposed to say something? Better not. She stared strait foreward.

Chris had been so nervous when he had walked into Muggle studies class earlier that day, and Dumont had not been there. But he was absolutely estatic when he had walked into Divination before class started and spotted his old Head of House.

He had picked up the chart that Dumont had indicated and looked for his sign. Hey he was a cancer too, just like the Professor. Chris's birthday was July 3rd. He could not wait to fully begin the lesson.

Elisabeta looked down at the chart her birthday was on may 11th which made her a Taurus which was pretty cool

Barry smilled at Georgie as she came into class. Barry oppened up his notebook and started writing

Well that was quick Barry started fiddling with his pen

Arya looked at the chart the professor had given them. "July 6th, July 6th...Hmm, here it is.."Arya looked at the chart for her birthday and studied it. She had always known that she was a Cancer but that was as far as her knowledge of sun signs went. She looked over to Emily curious as to what hers was. "What your sun sign Em?"

Oh she knew that voice.In fact that voice was the ONLY Scottish voice she knew, so no prizes for guessing who it was.Turing her head sideways, Sarah's came face to face with none other than the food fighter from the feast, Oliver.She smiled and whispered "Hello" back to him, not wanting to appear too stuffy.He already thought she was an OAP, no need to enforce that. "Long walk?" She gave him a devilish grin and turned her attention back to the Professor.

As the chart was slid on the desk in front of her, Sarah picked it up to read.Her mother always read the horoscopes in the newspaper, so she knew she was a Leo, with her birthday on the 16th of August, but the other star signs were a mystery.She could never remember them.

Nicoletta took out a piece of parchment and a quill. She wrote:
Virgo (the virgin), season- summer, mean duration- 30.90 days, Suns longitude on entry- 150 degrees,Suns declination on entry- +11.47 degrees.

she didn't think she'd need to know all of it but wrote it down just in case.

This. Was. Strange.

And very much so. Professor Dumont teaching Divination and Professor Lawson teaching Muggle Studies. Why did they have to switch around so much? Weeeeird. And confusing.

After having taken a seat in the front of the classroom - she'd always liked Professor Dumont - Nancy's eyes fell on the sheet which was lying on her desk. It was some sort of chart. Before she was able to ponder on it any further though the professor spoke up again and answered exactly that question. Good that she hadn't asked.

Nancy nodded slowly to give the professor a sign that she had understood the task - well, it wasn't exactly that difficult now, was it? - and resumed to look at the chart in front of her. So, her birthday was on December 2nd which made heeer...she moved her finger down the list until she stopped at the right sun sign. Sagittarius.

Kay smiled at Georgie and waved hi to her. It was nice that the Magical Five had class together. Kay wrote down her Zodiac sign and waited for the Professor to start.

Bella walked into the classroom, hoping she wasnt late. She took a seat near the back of the class and looked around, She didnt really know many people. She smiling when she noticed at least on person she knew,
"Hey Rex" She called to him.

Well this should be easy enough. Destiny knew when her birthday was! And how hard would it be to find it on the chart. Easy stuff.

Since her birthday is October 24th, which makes her a Scorpio! Aren't the poisonus or something? Ehh. She turned to face Evelyn, because she was sitting next to her, 'When is your birthday?' She didn't know if she had ever asked that before.

Seriously? Determining their zodiac? Evan could hardly refrain from rolling his eyes. Zodiacs were the biggest lie he'd ever heard. Just the idea of some planets to choose people and direct their life was crazy. And it was ironic that a person who didn't the least believed in this nonsense would know his sign: Aries. More interestingly, he also knew the attributes of it. He was so ashamed of himself with the stuff he filled his brain.

Marie had been staring at the chart in the front of the room so she did not notice when Evan came in. Jumping just a little when someone spoke to her she turned to see he was sitting right next to her. "Hey, glad you made it. I was hoping to have someone fun to work with in here. This really isn't my best subject. Are you any good at this stuff?" she said pointing to the chart with all the signs.

Another familiar voice. Looking away from Evan she sees that it is Kay. "Hi Kay, I'm good, how are you?" Marie missed talking to her friend but things just seemed different with them every since the train ride here. She didn't know if they could still be friends with all that had happened.

Marie looked at the chart the professor passed around but still did not understand it very well. Looking for her birthday of April 13 she found her sign at the very top. "Looks like I am an Aries, what is your sign?" she asked Evan.

Hmm, her zodiac sign? Eh, she already knew what it was, but it was nice just to read over it again. So...August 20. Ah, there it was. And, of course, now it just had to sink in. Her zodiac, was a lion. UGH! She had a Gryffindor sign! How awful was that?! Scowling at this realization, she wrenched her notebook open and wrote everything down, pressing harder on the quill then necessary. Good thing it wasn't that easily breakable.

Woah, when did Destiny come in? Evelyn did not notice the Slytherin sit next to her, and of course, she jumped in surprise when she heard the girl's voice. Couldn't she wear like, a loud jingle-y necklace or something? "Here." she muttered, still scowling from the information while pushing her notebook towards her.

Oliver ran a hand through his mop of hair, his heart rate slowing to it's normal pace. He smirked and turned back to look at the prefect – he really needed to find out this one's name... “Thought I'd go for a quick run before class.” He lied in whispered response. No one needed to know he'd been trapped in the middle of a moving staircase and then somehow ended up in he Astronomy observatory before getting here.

He went back to studying the sheet wondering what Mean Duration and Sun's Longitude meant... hmm.

Lucy consulted the chart and looked her her birthday--April 1st. That meant she was an Aries, yay!! Was that good or bad? Hmm, she might as well wait for the professor to explain. While she was waiting, though, she quickly wrote the information down--she didn't want to forget.

Kay smiled when Marie answered her. Kay looked around to make sure the Professor wasn't ready to start yet. Making no sound Kay told Marie how she was. "I'm fine. Can we talk sometime. I miss talking to you." Kay hoping that Marie understood. Talking to people without saying it out loud was hard. But Kay didn't want to loss points.

"Hey Marie! Figured out your sign yet?" she asked smiling.

"Hmm," Emily hesitated. It was on the tip of her tounge. She snuck a glance at the board. Without seeing the birthday she recognized the name. "I'm a Leo," she said. "August 17th."

Reese looked down at her own copy of the chart. She glanced down the columns that had the title 'date'. Her eyes stopped at the box that had 'August 23-September 21'. This was her row since her birthday was in between those two dates.

She studied the information that was directed towards her birthday, then she wrote down some notes on her parchment:

Lucille's concentration broke. Rolling her eyes she turned to the girl and the person she was talking to. "Look," she whispered. "Not to be rude, but do you wanna shut up a little bit? I cant think. Geesh."

She turned away from them. She was TRYING to get a new start this term. And they were NOT helping.

Seriously?! Wow... Wow. "Yeah sure whatever, if you want." Nicoletta smirked and turned back to her parchment doodling stars in the top left corner.

'Whoa, where did she come from?' Marie didn't even hear Nicoletta come up to her. Than again, Evan was sitting right next to her so she was a little pre-occupied and not paying attention to others around her.
"Hi Nocolrtta. Yeah, my sign is Aries, what about you?"

Looking up Marie notices Kay looking at her with a goofy expression like she was trying to tell her something. Not being a mind reader she had no clue what she wanted. "What? We may be in divination but I can't read your mind, you have to speak up" she says to her.

Elisabeta shook her head at the younger students who were chatting away she knew better from her time at Drumstrang that you got points taken off for talking during a class and Elisabeta had a good many points taken off of her in her younger days but she had learned her lesson now

Kay just looked at Marie. She wasn't going to get points taken for talking. She thought Marie would have understood her. Was she just being mean. "Can we talk later." Kay said softly, almost in a whisper. Kay looked up to make sure the Professor wasn't talking yet.

"I have. Pisces" Kay said turn back to her group. "How about you?"

Wesley did not like stairs. Or ladders. Or trap doors.

Therefore, it was a good thing she liked Divination, or else she have would be in trouble.

Heaving her schoolbag through the door first, Wesley followed suit, landing in a heap at the back of the class before standing up and brushing her skirt. Face red from exertion, the Hufflepuff took some unsteady breaths while examining the room with puzzlement. Where was everything? No matter the layout, the Divination classroom had always had a bit of flair to it. But not today. Perhaps even more importantly, where was Professor Kapoor?

Taking sight of Professer Dumont, Wesley asked, voice full of worry, "Hello Professor Dumont; is Professor Kapoor sick?"

That could be the only answer, right?

Professor Kapoor couldn't have been fired, if only for the sake of Wesley's sanity.

Destiny read what Evelyn was showing her. A Lion. And Evelyn seemed to not like that at all. Holding in her laughter, Destiny grabbed her parchment, 'A lion is better than a scorpion. Lions are big and scary!' Except for the Gryffindor Lion, he is not scary, 'How scary is a scorpion?' Not scary enough.

"Looks like it's Virgo. Aries... Aries... That's fun to say." she glanced back over at the girl who had told her to shut it. She leaned over and said in a whisper, "I dunno who she is but she sounded pretty ticked off when she told me to shut it." Nicoletta shrugged and started to chew on her quill.

Nikki unwrapped a piece of watermelon flavored gum and stuck it in her mouth, throwing the wrapper into her bag. She picked up her quill and pulled the chart that the professor had given towards her. Okay, well her birthday was February 15. So that meant her sign was.....uh....Aquarius! Okay so that was it? Find her sign? Nikki wrote her sign down on her piece of parchment before setting her quill down and chewing on her piece of gum.

Jacob waved back, he met her in Muggle Studies and she seemed to be pretty nice. He went back to drumming loudly on his desk, waiting for further instructin.

Becca looked down at the chart in front of her. So, her birthday was December 17th meaning that she was a Sagittarius. Her sign was the archer. How cool!!

Was...was Destiny going to laugh?! She better not. This was terrible news! A Slytherin with a Gryffindor zodiac sign. At least Destiny had something decent. Scorpions were cool. "A lion better than a scorpion?" Hmm, depends on how big the scorpion was though actually. If it was bigger than a foot, than yea, they were totally better than lions. Though if the lion was huge, that could definitely strike fear into people.

"I guess it's a fifty-fifty situation." As long as no one associated or said anything about the lion being something Gryffindorish, than she would be okay with it. Now if it was a lion made of fire, literally, than she definitely would NOT be complaining. "When's your birthday?"

Marie waved back at Georgie, then looked over at Kay who seemed to be whispering to her.
"Um sure, I guess we can talk later." Yeah, that was going to be an awkward conversation.
"Who?" Marie didn't hear amyone telling Nicoletta to shut it so she didn't know who she was talking about.

Sarah raised a quizzical eyebrow.A quick run? Either he was mad....actually that had already been established at the feast....or he was lying through his teeth.She knew which she thought it was.Well, ok it was both, but...Giving a disbelieving smile and a slow shake of the head, Sarah mumbled her reply. "Yah sure, whatever you say..."

Right.Numbers and dates and seasons....

This was too confusing by half.Did she really need to know all this? Apparently Professor Dumont thought so.Deciding it would be best to write it all down, as that is what most others appeared to be doing, Sarah reached inside her bag and pulled out a piece of parchment and a quill.Scanning the chart she found all the information that pertained to her and scribbled it down.

There.It was a start.


Oh oooohhhh it was Wesley! Another voice she recognised.

Looking up from her scribbling, Sarah spotted the third year talking to Professor Dumont.Raising her arm, Sarah waved in her friend's direction and beckoned her to come over, to sit in the empty seat the other side of her. "Wesley, over here!" she hissed.Just in case they needed partners or something.Oliver would be the only other option....

Georgiana looked down at her paper, "Umm, if I did it right, I have Capricorn."

"Well Let see. When is your birthday?" Kay asked smiling. She wasn't in the top five last year for nothing. "Then will see if your right." Kay looked at the front of the room to see if she was right.

She shrugged. "I dunno, some fourth year I think." she smirked. "Must be having a bad day or something cuz it looked like she was in Hufflepuff. Aren't Hufflepuffs supposed to be all kind to other people and trash? Doesn't matter anyway." she resumed chewing on her quill. I'm gonna have to go get some sugar quills next time I'm at Honeydukes.

Bella walked into the room. "Yes, right on time!" she thought wile sitting down near some of her friends. she was never late to any of her classes, well at least here at hogwarts she wasn't.



Bella knew she was a virgo but she just wanted to make sure.
"Lets see, my birthday is september 20th, so thats make me...." she thought wile looking on the chart. "Ah virgo. nice in the summer time," she said to herself looking at the picture.

Georgiana nodded and said, "My birthday is Jan. 6, so according to this chart, I'd be Capricorn right?" ugh, Divination was like her worst class, so she was always doubting everything she did. She smiled, "Thanks Kay!"

Bella pulled out a peice of parchment and a quill from her bag. Stealing a quick glance at the sheet that was by the door she wrote:

She put down her quill, it was a start at least.

Destiny was soo going to laugh. But she wouldn't, Evelyn seemed upset. It was only a lion. She was sure Evelyn liked lions or certain a lion. Hmmm.

Too bad they could switch birthdays. Destiny didn't know how her parents would react if she came home with a new birthday. She would just stick to what she had, it is easier that was, 'My birthday is October 24th, which makes me a stupid scorpio.' Ehh, maybe they were better than lions..

He was on time? Yes?

It seemed so.

Launching himself at a chair just as Dumont started talking, Jake tilted his head at the chart and didn't really attempt to read it. Looking around, he saw he was sitting near Reese, and his birthday was the day before hers... sooooo... he'd stick with her.

Yes.

Kellen looked at the chart Professor Dumont handed him and looked around the class for any of his friends. Finding none off-hand, he searched for his birthday and found his sign. Well, won't that just prove Chaucer's point? he thought to himself.

"Bella!" said Choluna, walking up to Bella. "Do you mind if I sit here?" she had had a terrible day! "I have SOOO much to tell you! After class, meet me in the Ravenclaw common room!"

Nicoletta pulled her piece of parchment back out and rewrote it for something to do.

Kay looked at the chart and smiled. "Yes your right. Capricaorn, A winter sign." Kay said looking up at her friend. "Great job."

"Ok?," said Bella still looking at the picture.
"Here sit by me," said Bella patting the seat next to her.
"Do you need help? When's your birthday?"

Why was Dylan here? Had his parents signed him up for everything? Weirdos. So he had to figure out his sun sign. Whatever that was.

Shifting his bags around, Sabel peered at the sheet Kellen was holding as he pulled out his quill and parchment. "Huh. Well those are...interesting."

He had seen divination charts before - muggles liked to use them - but he was more familiar with the Chinese calendar. Things looked like they could be interesting. Of course that's when he caught site of Arya and Rex and...his head did a quick backtrack and then nearly a drop on his desk. And the girls from breakfast the other day...Choluna and Bella.

Picking up the chart from his desk he slouched in his seat and scribbled down his sign, hoping this class would just involve Kellen and him having a bit of fun experimenting with predictions and divinations.

Keeley skipped in the class, right behind her friends. She fixed her blue fedora hat and sat down next to them. But her good mood vanished as she looked at the board. Birthdays... oh no.

"Oh I'm Ok! I'm a capricorn! My birthday is the 24th of December! What are you?" she said, so glad that Bella was here! She wanted to either cry or SLAP Arya across the face! Be nice Choluna. You're a kind, beutiful young lady and you WILL eventually get a boyfriend!

"What's wrong, Keeley!" Keeley was so happy when she skipped into class, until she saw the poster! What's so bad about Birthdays? "What are you Keeley? I'm a Capricorn! December 24!" Choluna smiled, than grimaced as she saw Arya from the corner of her eye! Be kind Choluna!

Oh no! Sabel was here! She was still embarrassed about the other day, and she hoped he didn't believe that she was a stalker like Arya did! "Bella! Keeley! What should I do?" she said making a gesture with her head towards Sabel.

Oliver tilted his head and looked at the yellow prefect. Her sarcastic response told him that she very clearly didn't believe him. He thought what he said sounded perfectly feasible. If he'd said he'd been chased around the grounds by a giant pink puffskein, he would have understood why she seemed skeptical... but..

Perhaps she still held a grudge for the business at the feast. His mouth turned downwards and he looked back to the front of the room towards the professor.

Emily took out a piece of parachment and a quill and started writing.

"Aren't they, though?"

Kellen was actually starting to get interested despite his initial skepticism over this class. Even if it turned out to be a bunch of smoke and mirrors, history showed that smoke and mirrors were incredibly effective and he wasn't going to knock what worked. Also, he was hoping Chaucer wouldn't show so he could terrorize his cousin with threats of ominous portents. It was a better way to spend an afternoon than napping, anyway.

He leaned over and read Sabel's notes, "Y-shaped thingy? Well now I feel better about calling mine a jello necklace. We're gunna be Divination pros, Sabel. Yes indeed."

Resting back in his chair Sabel peered at the charts. "Muggles have another one of these two. It's called the Chinese calendar. Made up of all sorts of animals and even a dragon. Unfortunately no cat. The cat didn't make it to the invitation to be named as one of the years."

Blinking he glanced over at Kellen and laughed a little. "That we are indeed. And jello necklace? What's your sign?"
