Professor Lawson had spent the majority of her morning near the edge of the forest, setting up for the day's lesson. With Masterson's help, her makeshift classroom was assembled and three large, covered tanks stood along the tree line.
Lifting each veil in turn, Iliana peered inside to make sure all was well. Once satisfied, she turned to face the clearing and waited for her students to arrive. |

| Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean Ooh. They were freeezing eggs, how cool was that, and Professor Lawson made it look pretty easy, although Brody was quite sure that it would not be that easy. Professor Lawson was a fully grown Witch, so of course when she performed magic it would look really easy to them.
Oooh. It was there turn now, she glanced around the class, before deciding to approach the nest of eggs, following Gold so it seemed. Looking at the eggs, she tried to find one that would be closer, and one that would mean that she wasn't in the way of anyone else, see she was considerate.
Once she had found one she pointed her wand at it. "Glacius" She did frown a little though, because she knew that the pretty egg was going to lose it's nice red glow, but then it also meant that she would be able to pick the egg up without burning her hand, because she didn't really want another trip to the healer. Once the red glow had gone, she picked up the egg, and walked away from the nest, so that the others could have a go. She looked at the egg in her hand, it was still pretty without the red glow, she then placed the egg carefully into the tank, before smiling at Professor Lawson. Job well done Brody Summers.

Herminny was glad to see the snake slither off and become dust, finally one snake gone in her mind making the task of collecting the eggs that much easier. She joined the rest of the class around the professor and took her wand out. It was time to freeze some eggs. She took out her wand and thought of cooling one eggs and said, "glacius", and just like that she saw one of red hot eggs cool to a bluish color slowly but surely. When it was totally blue she picked it up with her gloved hand and backed away to give the rest of her classmates a chance. She then walked her egg over to the tank the professor specified and placed it in the tank carefully. and then backed away and waited for the next set of instructions for she was certainly not about to boast about being 3rd.

Hmm once the ashwinder had left? Surely it was a good idea to catch the ashwinder. Incase it set fire to the forest or something. He had his wand on the piles of eggs. "Glacius," he called, giving the wand a wave. The egg cooled immediately. When it was no longer red hot he picked it up.
"Got one," he smiled, placing it in the cold tank.

This was the worst part of seeing an ashwinder, watching it die. Which is why Arya didn't watch, instead she just looked over her gloves and wand as if she were seeing them for the first time. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Lady Lawson grining, assuming that the ashwinder had already left she slowly turned back to where the pile of rocks once stood and awed at the eggs.
After watching Lady Lawson preform the spell and place the egg in the tank Arya step closer to the eggs excited. Pointing her wand at a small one she said, "Glacius" and watched in amazement as the egg went from a glowing red to freezing white. Carefully she picked it up with her gloved hand and walked it over to the tank.
Now was the real delimma, she was to short to reach the top of the tank. Her eyes went repeatedly from the egg in her hand to tall tank, unsure of how to go about geting the egg in the tank. I wonder if I chuck it over the side like a bale of hay, if it will break or not? She pondered this for a few minutes until a light bulb went off in her head. I'm at a Magical School....I can use magic, duh! Turning back to the egg she gave her wand a switch and flick saying,"Wingardium Leviosa". She levatated the egg slowly up and over the edge of the tank. Grining from ear to ear she skipped back over to Lady Lawson, proud she had finally used magic to solve a problem instead of going about it the muggle way.

Marilyn sighed as the Ashwinder's remains blew away. It was a sad sight to see, such a lovely creature being engulfed in flames. Poor thing...
She moved forward, seeing several of the red hot eggs in the small area. Choosing one, she aimed her wand and muttered Glacius. The egg lost it's red hue almost immediately and after a few seconds, the blonde bent down to pick it up.
Walking back over to the tank slowly, she took a cue from the Hufflepuff and magically lowered the delicate egg into it's new glass confinement. When finished, she laughed to herself. Wouldn't it be funny if someone accidently knocked the tank over? Marilyn smirked before moving away from the eggs. She didn't need to get any ideas...

Hogwarts RPG Name: Armand Beta-Erikson Slytherin First Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Damien Beta-Erikson Slytherin First Year | Slytherin by heart "Glacius," Lina said with a wave of her wand, still slightly preoccupied. She thought things over as she waited for the egg to cool, then went and picked it up. As she was walking it over to the tank, a thought suddenly occured to her. "Um, professor... Ashwinders are born from the fire, and don't live very long, obviously. But it lays eggs... What hatches from the eggs?" She set the egg into the tank, looking at the others that were already placed there. She needed some of those. She really did. With a little sad sigh she stepped away from the tank. Farewell my dear little potions ingredients.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sidney Marlowe Third Year

| Double Agent Stamps! Sidney follows closely behind Professor Mrs. Lawson. She knows that's a funny way to address a professor using Mrs. too, but it's easier to distinguish one Professor Lawson from the other. Sidney can understand why Professor Lawson would be married to her too. She is just as nice as he is, and Sidney is coming to think of Professor Lawson as a second father.
Sidney watches as the ashwinder leaves the fire, withers and turns into ash. The wind wishes up quickly and scatters the ashes to the wind. It's so sad that the Ashwinder can't live longer. They are beautiful creatures crawling around in the fire like they do. She wraps her robes around her against the cold. Sidney then goes over to the fire. She also sees the nest of ashwinder eggs. They glow like the flames. They are as beautiful as they are deadly. It's a shame to have to feeze them. They will loose they beautiful glow. Instead they will be cold, barren, and colorless. Sidney makes sure her dragonhide gloves are securely in place. She points her wand at one of the eggs and says "Glacius." The egg does not loose its glow. Sidney is of course discouraged. Everyone else seems to be having no trouble performing the spell. Just another reminder that her magic is not what it should be. Dejected, Sidney tries again. "Glacius," she says again. This time she visualizes the frozen egg in her mind. The egg freezes perfectly. She pends down and looks at her egg. Sidney waits for the wind to die down a little. The last thing she wants is the fire flaring up just as she tries to pick her egg up. The wind is calm. Sidney cups her left hand, then picks the egg up with her right hand. She gently places it in her left hand. Sidney then runs to the tank and places it close to the other eggs. She looks down at her egg very pleased with herself. |

She watched as the other students did there spell and place there eggs in the tank. Bella took a small step closer to the Ashwinder and pointed her wand at it. She took a deep breath and said, "Glacius"
Not too loud or too quite. She had closed her eyes as she said the spell, next second she opened them again and looked down. She wasn't sure if she had hi the Ashwinder with her eyes closed, but there it lay frozen on the ground. She smiled a little as she walked forward and picked it up.
She was getting good at her spell's now, and it pleased her. She smiled as she placed the egg in the tank next to the others.

| Atypical Ravenclaw Bookworm // Hair Flipper Pro / / the edgy starbuckian // Hot Messie Mina stood closed to the tank and further from the forest as she watched the Ashwinder. Cautiously, keeping one eye on the forest and the other on the blowing away ashes. She couldn't shake the feeling she was having just being so close to the edge of the forest. Shaking her head, she turned her attention back to the ashes again. Watching the ashes blow away, she frowned. It reminded her of her little friend from last term.
Walking over to the eggs, she double checked her her dragon hide gloves. She had experienced enough trips to the hospital wing this term and didn't want to hurt herself once again. Finding them tightly secured, she pulled out her wand and cast a Glacius at a single egg.
She watched as the egg lost its red hot hue almost instantaneously. Kneeling down, she cautiously picked up the egg with a small smile. She wasn't all to sure if her spell work was back to normal, but everything did look like it was going back to normal.
Cradling the egg gently in her hand, she moved toward the tank. She didn't want to mess anything up. Carefully, she placed her egg with the others in the tank and stepped back. She didn't move far, but she had keep her distance from the forest. The creepy feeling was starting to come back. |

Just then, as if on cue, the Ashwinder wound its way from the stones and slithered towards them. It stopped just a few feet away and crumbled into ash. Suddenly, a strong wind blew through the trees and carried the ashy remains away. Professor Lawson let out a sad, little sigh and quickly walked up to the rock pile.
She magicked the stones away with a simple wave of her wand and grinned at the large nest of eggs that was left behind. Pointing her wand to the egg closest her, she cleared her throat and said, "Glacius!"
When the egg had lost its nice, red glow, she crouched down and picked it up with her gloved hand.
"After you freeze your egg, please bring it over and carefully place it inside the tank." Simple enough, right?! "Okay if there are no questions, let's get started." ooc: Please RP your charrie freezing only ONE egg for now.
Sorry about yesterday. I had a crazy day and couldn't get online for class. Chris had moved closer to Professor Lawson excitedly as she explained what they were going to be doing. He was going to get to freeze Ashwinder eggs?! He then gasped quietly as the Ashwinder emerged and then turned to ash. That was so sad, it made him think of when he had to kill and get juice from the Devil's Snare cutting in herbology. But then he saw all the eggs, and his head of House had just turned them loose to harvest/freeze them.
The Prefect walked forward across the grass and stopped when he reached the abandoned nest. He could feel the heat radiating from them as he lowered his wand and spoke the incantation, "Glacius." The egg started to cool and when it was finished, Chris used his gloved hand to pick it up and returned to Professor Lawson's tank. There that went over well!

Nikki watched as the professor demonstarted what to do with the Ashwinder eggs. Okay freeze an egg, pick it up, walk over to tank, place the egg inside. That sounded simple enough! But Nikki would probably find some way to mess it up. She would probably trip and crack the egg or something. Sigh, she was way to clumsy sometimes...
As soon as Professor Lawson allowed them to begin. Nikki walked over to the next. Whoa...that was a lot of eggs...and they were glowing! Pretty! Nikki pulled her holly wand out and pointed it at the red glowing egg. "Glacius." She said. Hopefully the spell would work. And it did! Yay! Okay, calm down! Pick up the egg, and don't you dare trip!
Gently picking the egg up, Nikki began to walk towards the tank. She avoided the rocks and finally arrived next to the tank. She then carefully placed the egg inside. "I'm done professor!" Nikki said as she used the back of her glove to brush her bangs away.

Fred watched in awe as the ashwinder crawled out of the corner and disapeared. He then heard the professor say it was time to collect the eggs. He walked over to the professor along with everyone else as instructed. He then" saw the professor demonstrate the freezing spell which he found so cool. When he finally ot close enough to the eggs after other students finished he took out his wand and with concentration said, "glacius", and saw the red hot egg slowly turn blue. He picked up the egg with his gloved hands and brought it right over to the tank and placed it in gently. He then waited to see what more this class may bring,

Oh...darn it.
Sarah felt a movement by the side of her, and looked down to the familiar figure of little Wesley, one of her best friends. The poor girl looked scared stiff as she listened to the conversations around her, and Sarah wasn't surprised when her hand was grabbed.Gently giving Wesley's hand a re-assuring squeeze, she patted it with her other one. "It's alright, Wes.We'll find out what happened to them, and at least Miranda looks better now, doesn't she?" She did, but something still seemed wrong with her.The robes for a start.Sarah made a mental note to speak to her, check she really was ok.
Glancing back down at Wesley, she let go of her hand and put her arm around the young girls shoulders, gently guiding her towards the front with everyone else. "Shall we go and do our bit with the eggs? Might take our minds off things. You know a freezing charm, right?" she asked, taking her wand out and loosely holding it in her gloved hand. Yes they would solve this. Because Wesley had a plan. And Sarah wouldn't lie to her. Nodding, she bit her bottom lip. Miranda didn't have horns anymore. But, Wesley could tell the captain was feeling stressed - she could tell by the way Miranda's robes hanged on her figure. They didn't fit her anymore.
Letting herself be steered along, Wesley bobbed her head in confirmation, "Glacius. From Potions." Quote:

Wincing as Sarah froze tiny Carlos, Wesley gripped her wand tighter. She didn't blame her friend for freezing him, in fact, she admired the prefect's strength of will. Gulping, she shakily raised her wand, directing it in the direction of Rachelle. "Sorry," the 13-year-old mumbled, opening her mouth to cast the spell. But the words seemed stuck in her throat. She couldn't do it.
Making strange strangling noises, she stopped trying to say it when Sarah returned. Happy for the interruption, Wesley nodded solemnly, then perked up as the words sunk in, "You mean, they don't die?" Her hopeful smile matched the older girl's own, if not just a couple smidgens wider.
Well, not immediately at least. Not until they were stirred into a potion. Like the one they had made just the other day.

As Annie watched everything going into a silent chaos, she wondered what was happening when a couple of girls had ran away from the crowd towards the Forbidden Forest, and then came with a badge, if her ears were working well. The news of some...prefects going missing and others at the Hospital Wing made her shiver. Maybe, the only way to know about all this situation was to talk to Torin, get her curiousity to shut off again.
When Professor Lawson instructed for everyone to gather, take wands out and freeze the eggs, Annie's head nodded. This was so going to be fun, she thought. After all, it was easy, using Glacius, the freezing spell, although it'd been a long time since she last used her wand. Come to think, she was to used those eggs sooner or later in Potions class.
As her turn came, Annie approached the nest and flickered her wand. "Glacius..." She casted the spell, clearly and not so loud. Her throat was giving her trouble again. The egg immediately froze, she hoped. Already using her protection gloves, Annie picked up the egg and walked over to the frozen water tank, where she carefully placed the egg and then went to take her seat back, on a rock.

Evelyn really wished she could've remembered to bring her dragonhide gloves to the class, since she completely forgot them. Now she just stood back and watched everyone else freeze the ashwinder eggs and take them to the tank thing.
Well, she could have always levitated the egg, but that wasn't the same! Plus it wasn't as safe as actually picking it up with her hands and making sure no one bumped into it or made her drop it. Pfft. Course she wouldn't have dropped it. And yes, she was concerned for the safety of the...now frozen egg. Weeiiirrrd...
This whole class was weird. For now though, she just leaned against a tree and watched everyone do the work.

Done for now, Gold stood by a tree, left hand on her wand holster. She was not aware of that last part, though. It was the sort of action one has little or no idea about.
Her bright, green eyes were focused on the group of students around. Gloved hands, picking up fiery, shiny ashwinder eggs, placing them ever so gently into the tank. Some sight, and certainly one she did not think she would see outside of class.
Then her gaze landed on Evelyn, who was standing apart from the rest of the class. Had she already picked up an egg? Gold did not know, but she did not think she had seen the Slytherin do that. She frowned, because Evelyn immediately reminded her of Destiny; and the thought of Destiny led to that of the parchment, Destiny had found, a while ago. Of the prefect badge, too. Of a lot of, not-so-nice things.
"Evelyn?" she stepped up to the Slytherin, making sure her voice was really low, when she spoke; so as not to disturb anyone else in the vicinity. "Everything alright?" |

She had seen Gold looking at her, and hoped to Merlin that the Gryffindor prefect wouldn't come over to her but- oh. Wait no, she was walking over. Maybe Evelyn shouldn't wish certain things to not happen, since they always seem to happen anyways.
Was everything alright? No, everything was not alright! "Yes, everything is fine. I just forgot my gloves is all." she explained quietly, looking at to everyone else before glancing back to Gold. Another Gryffindor that she was being nice to. Her parents will surely hear about it, and then another talk will have to be issued...blah blah.
What she really wanted to do is to see if Destiny was okay. She was okay right? Evelyn couldn't really be certain since everything seemed to happen so quickly, what with the prefect badge and parchment being found... "Ummm, how are you?" Random 'being nice' talking moment while waiting for everyone to finish collecting the eggs.

"You can have mine," Gold said, slipping hers off, and offering them to Evelyn. "If you want to pick up an ashwinder egg, I mean. I'm done." She might have an extra pair on her, too. Gold carried stuff like that, in her bag. It could come in handy, anytime.
Especially in a hands-on class, like this.
"Fine, thanks," she said, her tones still low, as she responded to Evelyn's question. She wasn't too sure if Evelyn was completely fine, though. Destiny did, after all, look like a really close friend of the Slytherin... and Gold knew she, at least, would be disturbed, if something like that involved one of her close friends. Or Dylan or Lorii Louu.
Come to think of it, she was worried, even now. Not just for Destiny and Ivory, but for pretty much everyone. Not her own self that much, though.
"Everything will be fine," she told Evelyn, with an encouraging smile. She would have clapped the Slytherin on the back, too; but, of course she did not. Evelyn just did not seem like the type who would appreciate sympathy from someone not too close to her, and Gold respected that.
Or something of that sort. |

Or something of that sort. Whaa?
Evelyn, slightly inched away from the offered gloves. Gold was really nice to be doing that for her, but...fingerprints. She had a huge problem with fingerprints. She could just SEE them on the gloves. Plus they weren't like hers which were made just for her. Fit her hands perfectly! And they were a darker color then Gold's too. In other words... "Oh, no thank you. I'm pretty sure everyone got the Ashwinder eggs by now. Thank you...though." Not a lot of people would off her things like that.
Nodding at the prefect's words, she smiled slightly before glancing around once more. This class was going to end soon right? Practically half of it was missing anyways...
Hmm? Turning attention back to the Gryffindor, the words echoing through her mind, she took another tiiiiiny step away. The girl wasn't going to hug her was she? Because Evelyn had serious personal space bubble issues that no one should cross without asking or if they had a death wish. But another part of her made her stop stepping away. She wanted to believe Gold, that everything was going to be fine, and she wanted the comfort that people, especially Gold, that could probably give a friend in times like this. But she just...couldn't. "I hope you're right."

Was there something wrong with her gloves? Gold looked down at the pair in her hand, and blinked. It was, as it always was, perfectly alright. She did, after all, make sure her stuff was always in the best shape. That came with being a perfectionist.
But, oh well. If Evelyn didn't want them, that was fine. Gold slipped one glove back on to a hand, and gave Evelyn a slight smile. "No need for that," she said gently.
... and she hoped that she was right, too. Because if there was danger, it wasn't there for only one or two of the students. It was there for each of them, and 'each of them' included many of the people she loved, and held close to her heart. She didn't even want to think, of one of them getting hurt or injured. It would be terrible.
"It will be, don't worry," she said; and, this time, she really did clap Evelyn on the shoulder. "Let's get back to the rest of the class, before Professor Lawson tells us to." She gave Evelyn a little smile, as she moved away. The 'rest of the class' wasn't exactly far away, but she still felt everyone in the class ought to stick close together.
In a way, that would comfort her.
Really comfort her. |

Iliana walked around, noting everybody's progress and TRYING to smile. It wasn't a hard task that she had set for them and in no time, all of the ashwinder eggs had been collected and stored for safekeeping inside of the tank. Kazimeriz would be grateful. Quote:

What hatches from the eggs?" She set the egg into the tank, looking at the others that were already placed there. She needed some of those. She really did. With a little sad sigh she stepped away from the tank. Farewell my dear little potions ingredients. Hearing the one and only question to be asked, Iliana perked up a little, ready to answer. "Nothing "hatches" from the eggs," she said. "As they are not "fertilized". Think of them as unfertilized chicken eggs. If left uneaten, they will eventually spoil and go to waste. The ashwinder eggs will never "become" ashwinders. Ashwinders as you now know are born from magically induced fires." Hoping that eased their minds about freezing the eggs, Professor Lawson waited a few moments for everyone to get settled and then covered the tank and sealed it shut.
...
"Alright class, please follow me over to our third and final tank," she said. When the majority of the class was standing in place, she lifted off the veil and revealed what was inside. "Class this is an Occamy. Please tell me the first thing you notice that's different about this creature compared to the other serpents we've seen today."

It was really hard to keep up that small smile to show she was okay, even when she wasn't. How do people do it?! Her cheeks were burning! Happiness was painful!
Before she knew it though, for the second time that class, someone touched her shoulder. And just like last time, she visibly tensed. If someone, just oooone other person, touched her again in the next hour, they were going to be in for a surprise... *and another tiny step away* She couldn't really do anything except move away from the prefect since, well, Gold was a prefect and all. And probably wouldn't enjoy being the rebound of Evelyn freaking out because she touched her shoulder. For now, she just tried to keep her mouth shut and her hands by her sides.
So, everything will be okay? Will probably eventually, but it wasn't near close to okay right now. And would someone PLEASE tell her that Destiny wasn't hurt or anything! What...did she actually have to verbally ask that question? You mean to say, people weren't mind readers? Well some of course, but not all of them? That was a shocker...
Getting back to the rest of the class. Sounded like a good idea. No one would mess with anyone in a group. But that would mean, involving serious space issues at the moment. Evelyn would have rather been kidnapped than to squeeze into a little group to be 'protected' when out of nowhere from the safety of the castle, students were being hurt. Like a small group was going to stop whatever was going on from happening... "Sure." she muttered, her lips barely moving as she watched Gold start towards the rest of the class. Sure, she'll go. Just as slowly as possible. Meaning her feet barely moved on the ground as she walked as slow as a snail towards the class...
She'll get there eventually! "It has legs and wings." she said, hearing the Professor's questions. She didn't have to look at the creature to know that one. It was one of the creatures she was more interested in after all...
