Marie wrote the directions down then went to collect the needed supplies for this project. Once back at her desk she laid everything out then got started. Using the compass she drew the nine circles on the plate hoping she was making them the correct size. She then used the frosting to glue a butterscotch to one od the circles to represent the sun.

'Only eight more to go,' she thought as she looked at all the candy laying on her desk wondering if the professor would notice if she ate some of it.

Looking at Destiny Kay smiled at her. "Why thank you Destiny. Your always there to give me the help I need." Giggling Kay turned back to her Solar system and continued her work. She wasn't going to let anyone get to her any more. No Worries.

Maidee walked over to Ella and looked very carefully over the girl's work. "It looks good, but try to keep the compass steady. The day may come when you can't have the lines not quite lining up, but for today's lab, it's perfect." She gave the girl a smile and continued on to the next one.

Maidee gave it some thought. "I'd really rather you didn't. These candies are already to-size ratio of the planets so it will be a fairly good representation of the solar system. Save your own candies for yourself."

Then, several students chimed up about Pluto's "true" status. "They simply decided that Pluto must be too small to be a "real" planet, much like the muggles try to say that humans that are small are 'dwarfs'. They are still people, so I say Pluto is still a planet. It's just small."

Maidee looked over Kay's work, "It looks very good, but you don't have to lick your fingers. If there's anything left, I may want to use it again, and I can't do that if you lick your fingers and touch everything."

It was candy afterall.

"Now that just isn't nice at all. If you keep that up, I might just keep your candy solar system for myself after I grade it."

Carter put his compass down and held up his paper plate. He was pleased with his perfect little circles. Sure they weren't to scale, and they were circles... and not orbits... and Pluto's orbit remained at the outside the whole way. But those were awesome circles.

He began lying the licorice along the paths he just drew.

"Thanks, professor!" Ella said with a satisfied smile. She tried to keep the compass steady in her hand as the professor instructed, and they started to come out looking a bit better. She was tempted to eat the candy but decided to wait until the professor said it was okay.

She took the frosting and used it to stick the candy on where it should go. Pluto was still a planet in her mind, even if it was just a little dwarfy-poo.

"What was the second biggest planet again?" she asked anyone around her, hovering the little candy over her circle, unsure where to put it.

Whaaaaat?

Destiny was NOT helping Kay. Why would she think that was help? Now people are going to think she was being nice.. to her!

Rolling her eyes, Destiny ignored what Kay said. She would just pretned she didn't hear anything. Yep.

See? Even the Professor knew Destiny wasn't being nice.

Oops.

'Sorry Professor..' she mumbled. She wanted to keep her candy solar system! More like she wanted to eat her solar system after it was graded.

And it would never get graded if she didn't finish. Sooo, grabbing a smallish brown candy, since there was no grey, Destiny dipped it in the frosting and plopped it on her paper plate. And she just figured Venus was yellow, she dipped a smaller yellow candy in the frosting and plopped that down right after Mercury. Did they have to be the right color?

And how many planets were left!?

Jeeeez, seven more.

Earth was next, and Destiny knew that one was blue. She dipped that candy in the frosting and placed it in the correct order.

Oh jeeez. What comes after Earth!?

Snickering while finishing up her circles, Evelyn glanced over at Kay after she spoke before turning her attention back to her paper plate solar candy system thing, muttering quietly to Destiny. "Sounds like that camraderie potion is still in effect." she chuckled. She still had most of hers left, and she had no clue who to use it on. Did that potion have an expiration date?

Picking up the butterscotch candy, she place a little dot of frosting on the sun circle before putting sticking the candy carefully onto it, making sure not to press it down too hard so the frosting won't just blob out to the side. There. Clean and organized looking so far.

Smiling at her work, she started with the next candies, not really going in order of the plants, but just sticking the first candy she picked up onto the correct planet place. Now, what in the world was this candy? It had a big M on it...Was that the initial of the maker? Or did it stand for Mars or something? Ehhhh....muggle candies were weird.

Marie laughed when she heard Kay thank Destiny. Really, how stupid could the girl be to think Destiny really wanted to help her. The girl really needed to get a clue, she didn't even know when someone was being mean to her.

Turning her attention back to her work she started picking up candies and glueing them to the circles she had drawn. This seemed easy enough. Once she got to Jupiter she place a tiny red hot candy on it for the red spot. Next was Saturn. After placing the candy she picked up a liccorice string and draped it over the candy to look like a ring going around it.

She continued sticking candies to her plate hoping she was using the correct color of candy for each planet. If not she would just have to take these ones off and start over. Maybe then the professor would let her eat the candy she had to take off the plate cuz it would be just wrong to throw it away.

Kay giigled when the Professor talked to Destiny. 'What was great' She thought. Working on her little solar system she tried not to lick her fingers. It was hard though. It was candy after all. Putting the next piece on Kay looked up. She watched Marie and the Devilyn to see what they were doing. Thinking about be nice she just couldn't help herself. "So guys how's it been going?" Kay asked with a smile. 'what will get them' she thought with a giggle. She was going to get them with kindness. Even if she didn't mean it. "Did you see the Quidditch match? I hope Slytherin win their next game." She smiled again and turned away from them. She couldn't help the little laugh that came out before she could put her hand over her mouth.

Destiny heard what Evelyn had said about the camraderie potion, and she did not like it. It would have wore off by now, right? How long was it since Kay drank it anyway? Destiny really needed to keep better track of time..

She started sifting through the candies that were on her desk, looking for one that reminded her of Mars. Wasn't it red? Yeah, she thought so..and even if it wasn't it will be now.

Gahhh..that annoying voice. Looking up from her solar system, Destiny saw Kay talking to them..and she was being nice! That potion must still be in her system. 'I think you're right..' she told Evelyn, before plopping her Mars on the paper plate. What was Kay talking about? And why would she want Slytherin to win the next match? She was being a freak like Tyrannosaurus Rex. Freaks.

Silently mocking Kay, Destiny finished sifting through the candies on her desk, pulling out the rest she would need for her solar system. After Kay talking to them, she didn't want to eat the candy anymore, she wanted to throw them..right at the Huffie.

Concentric circles DONE!

And...it took him quite a lot of time to make them, because he was being very careful to get things right, even if he had no idea about the distance between each planet, but he thought it looked okay.

There was a yellowy looking candy, rather large, that seemed to be the one favored to become THE SUN. Because the sun appear yellow, and was the STAR of the whole solar system. It was even named after it! You know...'solar'. The SUN was GILDEROY. The star, a whole celebrity. Everyone knew the sun was in the center.

That's why he proceeded with the bit of frosting and added the sun first, because it was the most important one, yes? After the sun, came the followers, which were Mercury and Venus. EASY! He ate a red Skittle before adding small mellow Mercury with its frosting on the first concentric circle, it was a bit to the right side of it.

No one could tell about the red Skittle.

Venus was glued without a major deal, because another important planet was the Earth, the unique one, so, he had no idea which candy to use for this, but there was a minty blue one that did the trick if he destroyed one purple skittle, and placed bits of the skittle around. And it DID the trick...he...glued those together and...voila! The Earth was done.

Mars. Well, there was no point in fighting with Mars. You know, the aliens are in there, and he did NOT feel like making a big fuss about Mars. A red Skittle will do.

OH WAIT!

"Professor, do we get to place the Moon as well? At least the one on the Earth?" he forgot about that white circle he saw at night.

Putting a small piece of licorice on her 'saturn' candy, Evelyn looked up when she heard the...really annoying voice again. Wow, seriously, what was up with the Huffie today? Did she really want to talk to them? Or was this some kind of trick...

"Uh huh." she muttered, staring intently at Kay. Yup, something was definitely up. Even though she was nice to the girl in Madam Puddifoots, well actually she forced herself to be nice since Josh was there, didn't mean that she had to be like this all the time...and Josh wasn't here today. Again. Or maybe someone really did slip her another camraderie potion. Heck, maybe SHE should slip Kay another camraderie potion.

Glancing at Destiny's solar system thing, Evelyn noticed...well she forgot to place Mars on hers. Oops. Taking one of the smaller red candies, why the smaller one she didn't know, she placed it on the little dab of frosting that was already there on her plate and smiled slightly. Almooost done!

But..what in the world were the sprinkles for again? Asteroid belt? Between Mars and Jupiter. Huh...alright then. But, Destiny's sprinkles were actually better looking! Or at least in her mind they were. "Hey Destiny. Wanna trade?" she said, gesturing to the sprinkles. Well, they looked the same really, but Evelyn was convinced that Destiny's were better. Mwaha!

Still silently mocking Kay, even though she had stopped talking, Destiny put the rest of her candies on her paper plate. Perfect! Now she had all eleven planets in her solar system and she could add the licorice and stuff..

Wait a MOMENT!

There are NOT eleven planets! Only ten, if you include the sun.. What was she to do!? Making her eyes go shifty, Destiny carefully peeled off the extra planet and hurriedly popped it into her mouth. No one saw that right?

ACKKKK!

Evelyn had scared the Bertie Bott's right out of Destiny, and if she was still chewing that candy, she would have definitely choked to death. And that meant Evelyn had caught her eating the candy..oh well. Evelyn has seen her do stranger things than that.

And she wanted to trade sprinkles? But..they were the exact same! What was so special about hers? Destiny looked back and forth between her own sprinkles and Evelyn's, they were the EXACT same! 'But they are the same..' she started, and then shrugged. If they were the same, she should have no problem with switching. But they were Destiny's first.. 'Fine. Take them.' Sprinkles..pffft.

Maybe they could throw the sprinkles on Kay. She would be less of an eye-sore if she was shinyyyy!

One step donnnee!!

Candy had DRAWWWN the concentric circles and they looked absolutely MARVELLOUS. Because they were totally circular. HEHEHEHE! The hyper first year clapped her hands in her happiness.

ANDDDDD she thought their teacher was so ADORABLE! For still calling Pluto a planet because she didn't want to discriminate. AWWWZ! That was just so lovely. Like astronomy.

Because astronomy was VERY lovely. Shiny stars and stuff were always sooooo niiiicee!!!

Candy turned her attention back to her solar system which was right now just a bunch of........ concentric circles. It needed CANDY! Hehe. Candy!! Get it, get it? CANDY! Bouncing on the balls of her feet the hyper firstie picked up a BIGGG, yellow-orangish candy and used it for the sun.

The sun was sooo SHINYYY!!

She grinned at it then looked at the list of planets. Sooooo........ Mercurehh comes after the sun. Righto! Picking up another much much smaller candy, the first year used it for Mercury. That looked NICCE!

She liked her solar system.

'Cause it looked TASTYY!

Still laughing about what the girls were thinking, Kay went on with her work. Her next planet was going to be Pluto. Was what a planet? Didn't they say is wasn't. Finding a candy that could be Pluto, she pick it up. Pale blue would be a good color. It was and icey planet after all. Thinking of all the candy Kay wanted to eat some of it. It was candy right?' She thought as she looked at the Professor. "Professor, Do we still include Pluto as a planet? I think I read somewhere that it wasn't?" She asked and wonder if they would. Looking at the girls Kay smiled. "Are you guys getting yours done? Its really fun isn't it." She said smiling even bigger and then turned back to her work and gigged. kill them with kindness. hehe

Marie was finishing up her work when she heard that stupid little voice of Kay. Her voice was just as annoying as Violet's.

"You know Kay, if you would pay attention to the professor you would know the answer to that question, she has already addressed it." Seriousely the girl was not the brightest light in the lamp. Maybe if she paid more attention to the professor instead of worrying about what they were doing she would actually know what is going on in the class.

She looked over at Evelyn and Destiny and whispered to them, "Can you believe how stupid she is?" She then lookeed at Kay and started to laugh. Kay may be trying to be nice but Marie was not about to be nice to her.

"No, no need to do the moon. We're focusing on planets -or objects that SHOULD be planets. The moon just doesn't qualify. If you have any left over candy AFTER completing and turning your solar system in (of course), you may take it with you."


"THank you for answering the question, Marie, but did you really need to add the snide comment to your friends? 3 points for answering the question, unfortunately, 3 points taken for that comment." Maidee gave a dramatic sigh and continued her measured pace around the room, occasionally stopping to talk or help a student.

Ehm! Now Josh did not know why he was here since he had not participated in any Astoronomy class and as a result had no background information to build a little solar system using candies. To be honest, for him, candies had no other use other than to be eaten...oh yes and maybe they could be given as a gift to make someone happy but they still were to be eaten.

*sigh* He stared at the instructions and then at the candies fiercely fighting the urge not to eat them all in a moment. He had no idea what could be the orbital path of a planet but he knew one thing : there was sun at the middle and the others were revolving around it in a certain order. So since the professor gave out the order, the Gryffindor thought he might be able to handle it. If not, that was okay with him. He could eat the candies Hehehehe!

Therefore simply passing the first step, he grabbed the butterscotch candy and placed it on where he tought could be the middle best then as the next step he began to sort out the other little candies to use as planets.

YES! She got the sprinkles!! The BETTER sprinkles! MWAHA! "Thank you."

Erm...yea. Now, back to her solar system thing...Spreading a thin thin thiiiin layer of frosting in between Mars and Jupiter for the asteroid belt or whatever it was, she sprinkled the color-fullish sprinkles on the frosting and patted it down. She didn't really care if it was perfect at the moment. As long as it looked presentable, she was fine with it.

And Kay was still freaking her out...and wouldn't stop TALKING! Ugh...her voice was irritating and it was seriously getting under her skin. Her niceness was, unbearable to her.

Slamming down another candy indicating the place of another planet that has been placed on her solar system, Evelyn finally was able to calm down at Marie's words. Oh, that was sooo true. On both of what she said. Smiling a little, feeling somewhat better now, she started to finish her project thing with a lighter mood.

And then it was totally taken away. Do all the professors have like super hearing and eyes on the back of their heads or something?! Well that was just pointless to even say what she said now was it! If Slytherin wasn't getting any points, then why waste her breathe? Unless, she just said that so people could laugh or something. Kay would surely laugh, and when she did, she will be finding a candy stuck to her forehead for the rest of her life.

The Professor could have least taken only 2 points off...It wasn't like Marie was lying or anything.

Marie just finished putting the sprinkles on her solar system when the professor said they could take their leftover candy with them. Looking at her candy supply she had a few chocolates and a couple liccorice stings left. She started to gather them up when she heard the professor again.

Yeah, 3 points for answering a question.

WHAT!!.......

She's taking 3 points for what I said to Destiny and Evelyn. How did she hear me whispering? I didn't think people that old could hear that good.

Looking at Destiny and Evelyn she said, "Well at least I broke even on the points."

She then looked back over at Kay and started to stick her tongue out but decided not to. She didn't want to lose any more points. She would just get her later.

Kay smiled when Marie lost points and thought this would be the best. She looked up at Marie and the Devilyn's and started to cry. Just softly tears at first and then she turned to the Professor. "Pro...Professor I..I..I'm sorry for the question. I didn't hear you." Kay said trying not to break up all together. "But do th..th...they have t..t..to be so mean about it." Kay said crying harder. "I was just trying to be nice to them." She turned back to her desk and put her head down on her arm. Gutted.

Mina looked at all the candies before her. She wanted to eat some of them, but they could be needed for the little project. She would just have to get some candy the next time she was in Hogsmeade again.

Reaching for the paper plate and the compass, she set off to making the cirlces she need. Spacing them out as much as she thought would be correct. She wanted it to be some what to scale, even though she knew it was probably near impossible to do so, but she tried anyway.

Setting the compass down, she admired her handiwork. It was good, but not perfect. Shrugging, she set the plate down and reached for the butterscotch and frosting. Eying the center, she placed her 'sun' and moved on to the 'planets'.

Carter smiled looking at his little candy solar system. Now he was ready for the planets. He remembered a tune he had learned in muggle school for the order of the planets. He began sorting candies to their spots.

Mercury.
Venus.
Earth.
And Maaaarrrrs
Jupiter.
Saturn.
Uranus.
Neptune.

And then he took the tiniest candy and placed it where Pluto would be.

Destiny snickered a bit with Marie's whispering. Seriously, Kay was not paying attention to the Professor. She was probably too busy stuffing her face with candy to pay attention. Yep, that had to be the reason.

The snickering stopped, when Professor McFiestypants gave Marie points and then took them away. What an Indian giver! or whatever it was called..something about Indians. All because she had like supersonic hearing? Pffft, Destiny should take points away from the Professor for eavesdropping. Mentally, Destiny took away five points. Now Professor McFiestyPants had negative points. HA!

Kay would pay for those loss of points..yes she would. Using a little too much force while putting the sprinkles on her paper plate, Destiny heard it. Not only was it Kay's annoying voice, but that annoying voice was mixed with the sound of annoying crying?

Destiny's jaw dropped. It would have landed in the can of frosting if she hadn't put the lid on it. Kay was faking!

Well, that was just great. Sniffling a few times, Destiny put the finishing touches on her solar system. By the time she was finished, tears had welled up in her eyes, and by blinking a few times, the tears were flowing. 'Professssssor! Kay stole my candy!'

Two can play that game, buddy.

"The professor says the big scientist people decided Pluto's too small to be a real planet," Candy told the Hufflepuff. "But it's still a planet, it's just small." Because the professor said so!

Then some sort of DRAMAAA was happening and Candy wasn't interested so she went BACKKK to her own solar system. She used some candy to make Venus and then BEAMED at it.

Yay for candies!! HEHE.

She picked up some more candy and made earth. "We live here," she told one of the candies in a voice that was low enough to ensure that nobody else heard her. She didn't want to DISTURBBBBB anyone else.

But hurrahhhhh for her candy earth!!
