As you step into the transfiguration classroom, you will notice the new arrangement of the room. The center part of the room is empty, for its desks have been squeezed into rows at the left and right of the room. A stack of blank pieces of parchment sits on Professor Svensson's desk, and although Professor Svensson himself is nowhere to be seen, it would be wise to sit quietly until given further instruction.

Cela decided Jack and Daphne were too busy with each other so she turned her wand on herself. "Bestiar skin!"

The image of scorpion skin in her mind, every inch of her went solid, though she could move at her joints. Experimentally Cela tapped on her arm.

"Throw something at me!"

Blinking she stopped playing with Jack's fuzzy arms to blink at her best friend. "Sure, thing sweetheart!" chirped Daphne and turned on the spot trying to look for something good to throw at her. Picking up her school bag she began fishing for a textbook to throw but stopped. "I'll just throw the bag."

...?! Was that really a good idea? She trusted Cela enough to know that her spell had been right on. She could handle it. "Here I go! One," she announced and swung the bag. "Two. Three!"

I'm Anna's partner, and she's already turned her arms into wings....." she said a bit shyly. Dem didn't want to make him anymore mad at her then he already was.

Professor Svensson's attention was once more directed to the Gryffindor and her partner. Raising his eyebrows at the head girl's wings, he barely managed to suppress a proud smile at the student's success. "Well, as you haven't practiced or attempted 'homini' yet, I see no reason why you can't help Anna turn her wings back into arms," Svensson told the girl.

A glance around the class told him that most of the students who had attempted the spell so far had at least some success. "When the older students have regained full human...ness, their younger partners may attempt the spell. Remember: the incantation and wand movement are important, but if you don't have a vivid idea of what you are transfiguring, the spell is likely to go awry."

Hopefully nothing would go wrong with the younger students, as it appeared there had not been any horrible accidents among the first attempts, though Lars knocked on the wood of a desk for good luck.

...Was that a flying bag of books?

Daniel looked at Nancy and said, "I am ready. Are you? I will go first?" he said and stands up He looked at Nancy and gestured for her to follow him and get ready to start Transfiguring...

Jack's attention was then focused on Cela, who suddenly looked really stiff. Whoaaaa. He watched the book bag sail through the air with interest, completely forgetting about asking Daphne to change him back. He just wanted to know what would happen when that bag finally made contact with Cela.

Anna looked like she was enjoying her new wings very much. "Sorry to end your fun." she giggled. Dem concentrated really hard on her arms then said "Homini arms." and pointed her wand at Annas arms. They were back to normal. Phew atleast she had managed to do that spell correctly.

After practicing the spell in his mind for a few moments, then practicing the wand movements he felt he was ready to try the real thing. The only thing is he still couldn't decide on what to turn his part into. Tigers eyes or their feet? He stood there pondering for a few moments until he decided, tigers eyes. Definitely. Turning to Lucy he smiled, "I'm ready if you are." he said, holding out his wand and grinning a bit. "I'll do the counter spell after you transfigure yourself." he said in a confident voice.

Lyra beamed broadly when she heard she could try next. ´Finally, my moment of glory! victory! and uhm... indestructable fox ears! woohoo´ Lyra giggled at her own thoughts for a second and then closed her eyes, concentrating on a fox. Frowning a bit, she bent her head low her eyes still closed and the shape of a fox appeared in her mind. ´Ok now just focus on the ears, you don´t want to transform into a whole fox, atleast not now´ Lyra giggled again knowing that she had to stop herself from it otherwise it won´t work, concentration was the key at Transfiguration. Slowly but clearly she saw fox ears in her mind. Then, like a knight raising a sword, she held her wand up and pointed it at her ears, eyes opening now she said " Bestiar ears!" Lyra didn´t feel anything. Her ears weren´t fury and neither could she hear better than she normally did. Sighing she knew she hadn´t accomplished her *mission*. Feeling a bit dissapointed in her lack of magical abilities. She tried again, raising her wand to her ears again she said, "Bestiar ears!" . Now, she did feel something, it was like someone had pinched her ears but as quickly as it came it vanished too. Lyra looked up at Kiri, dissapointment and a bit of anger written on her face. " I guess i´m too young to learn this" She said lowering her wand down and sighing deeply.

Anna frowned for a moment and studied the wings she'd transfigured onto herself. They were pretty and reminded her dearly of Charlotte, but she knew she couldn't keep them forever. Besides, how would she do her classwork? Her homework? Her NEWTs? She sighed softly, then nodded towards Demetria. "Alrighty, then. Let's change these wings back into my normal arms. They're pretty, but I can't keep them forever," she said, holding the wings out towards the younger girl.

As soon as Dem had casted the spell, the beautiful, snowy white wings Anna once had began to shirink, and a few moments later, her regular arms could be seen. They momentarily felt sort of odd, but she assumed that was only natural. "Good job," she told her friend. She wasn't sure exactly what they were supposed to do next, so she stood quietly while she waited for directions.

Uh-oh. Lars was surprised at how much time had passed once he looked at his watch. It was nearly time for class to end.

"Finish up your transfigurations," he said over the students' spells. "If you have some animal body part, have someone transfigure you back, and if you are completely human, don't start any new transfigurations." Did that make sense? It did to Professor Svensson, but he already knew what he was trying to say. Hmm.

Kiri watched in anticipation as Lyra prepared to transform her own ears into a fox's. A tiny part of her wondered what it would do to her self-esteem if the first year managed to pull it off while she herself had only managed to sprout some fluffy hair. That was a mean thought, though, and she banished it immediately. She smiled encouragingly. "Good luck."

But oh, all the good luck apparently didn't help. The enthusiasm and excitement faded from Lyra's face as she tried several times to transform her ears, and it never worked. Kiri's own disappointment was mirrored in the girl's eyes, but at least when she had tried it, she'd been able to hear like a fox. Presumably, at any rate.
She rubbed Lyra's arm affectionately. "Oh, don't worry about it, Lyra," she said. "I don't think anyone could have managed it at your age. It's really difficult! I think I'll be very proud of myself if I can do it in two years or so."
Just to make sure, though, she checked the girl's ears. They looked reasonably human, however.

At the professor's words, she turned around. "I think we're supposed to be done now, though." She sighed and pocketed her wand.

The bookbag hit her with a crack and Cela rocked on her feet. She smiled slowly. "I didn't feel it!"

Oh it was time to change back? Cela slowly and deliberately pointed at herself, glad that technically it was still called skin. "Homini skin!"

She sort of felt herself soften and prodded her arm to be sure. Neat. Normal again!

"That would be handy protection in a quidditch game!" Cela rubbed her now fixed nose and giggled.

William hadn't even attempted to do any transfiguration. Sighing he ambled up to the professor a small look in his eye. "Er professor, I never got to try it. Can I perhaps practice it elsewhere after class?" He asked in a quiet voice. He didn't want to miss out on everything but it seemed his partner had gone off in a day dream state and next thing he knew class was almost over.

Lyra was still dissapointed in herself, she was the typ of girl who wanted to do something perfect and hated to fail. Lyra gave a small smile when Kiri had rubbed her arm, atleast she was nice to her right? she could have laughed at her for her pathetic tries. "i just wished it worked" she muttered staring in front of her but not really looking at anything. "or atleast hear like a fox how you did". Lyra jumped visibly when the professor had spoken again, her eyes coming back to focus and she turned around to listen to him. "guess we're done for today" she said her own cheerful voice back again and placed her wand in her wrist holster.

Lars nodded to the boy and raised his voice so the whole class could hear. "Your homework, due at the beginning of next class, is to practice the spell with a partner or two. Do not practice alone, it shouldn't be too difficult for you to find a partner. First and second years, be sure to find a partner who is at least a fourth year," he said. "Class dismissed."
