| | | Basic Arithmancy Lesson 2
As you step through the Arithmancy classroom doors, you see that the wooden desks and chairs from last class have been replaced with comfy armchairs and lapdesks, and are arranged in a circle. Two walls of the room are covered by thick wooden shelves, filled with a seemingly endless number of Arithmancy texts and the occasional Ancient Runes and Divination reference. The other two walls of the room are covered in framed pictures and posters of a very old man doing mathematical calculations, a map of the Mediterranean, a witch carrying a large wooden number seven, a chart converting letters to numbers, and many more pictures with a number at the top and people exhibiting various qualities below. These number pictures are larger than they were last lesson and are able to be seen much more clearly.
Professor Shackleton sits atop the edge of her desk with her legs crossed and her hands folded in her lap. Her lemon yellow robes contrast greatly with the dark tone of her desk. She smiles welcomingly at you as you enter the classroom and makes a small gesture for you to take a seat in one of the many chairs in the room.
OOC: This lesson is for first, second, and third years ONLY. Any students in fourth year and above who post will be dismissed. |

But they could also be tense, because of the whole time thing and maybe impatience. Ya know, you'd begin to get fed up..." Jake explained. "And some people don't like spur of the moment decisions, they might prefer feeling secure with things planned out for them, or by them." |

Raising her hand, Mariel said, "I think that a relationship with a Three would be exciting, a new adventure every day. Um, provided you like that kind of thing, of course. I personally would find it very annoying to not be sure if the Three would show up to planned events. That could cause some hurt feelings. And I also wonder if Threes can have long-lasting realationships. I suspect that they have an easy time of making friends being so fun-loving, but do they last? I might think they'd get bored too easily especially if others can't or won't keep up with them, and then they'll want to move on to bigger and better things, including relationships."

Pausing in front of Herminny, Professor Shackleton inquired of the class, "What do you think relationships with the 3 are like?"
Herminny raised her hand and said," A relationship with 3 would be dificult cause their bad at keeping commitments and one minute their into and the next minute their into someone else, they can never decide on one thing they want, they want it all".

Professor Shackleton stepped to the outside of the circle and began strolling about, "So, the bottom line with the three - nothing is more important to the 3 than to be free to use its imagination to beautify and create. Whether its energy is used to make unique Love potions for Valentine's Day, have a stimulating conversation, or make a Quidditch pitch diorama, the 3 needs to express itself. "And now that we've wrapped up the number 3, let's move quickly onto the number four. What is the key message of the four and how does it compare to the 3?"

Chris raised his hand "Four stands for Stability and Security, some key words would be cautious, clever, and balanced. Fours would compare to threes as almost opposites. Threes are outgoing and don't think before they act, whereas a Four would take the time to think of the consequences of therir actions."

Herminny raised her hand and said,"4 is orderly, smart, and works hard, 4s would probably be pretty successful in school, 3s are creative and spontaneous, they have no order and make decissions too quicky compared to 4 they would probably have more freinds but only because of their outgoing personality, 4s some people might consider more boring people but they are the ones mor likely to be successful because they are clever and hard working, 3s would have to get lucky that their creativity is noticed in a good way, thats just my two-sense".

Thus, often than not, 3s are prone to danger and failure. But with four they do planning and perfection is what they strive to have. They are opposites of each other."said Daniel in a smart and confident manner.

Sakura raised her hand, "Fours are committed and hardworking. They plan ahead and consider what the best option to take would be for that situation, whereas a three takes risks and doesn't really plan ahead, you could say they go with the flow more and are impulsive people. The three and the four are nearly complete opposites of each other."

Professor Shackleton cleared her throat and explained, "The energy of the 4 is grounded energy, methodical and plodding, forming and reforming. It builds, endures, makes order, and systematizes. The 4 gives form to things, stabilizes and structures them. The 4 carries a solid and stable energy, giving off the vibe of predictability and conventionality. These are not the type of people who rock the boat."
"Knowing what we know about the four, how do you think their timing is? What type of value do they place on time?" OOC: I apologize for the delay in the class. I haven't been well for the last few days. I hope to pick up the speed a bit more regularly as I'm starting to feel better.

Jake raised his hand. "Everything would be at the appropriate time, more or less. Nothing late, they wouldn't be late, at least," he tried. "And maybe they would have an intolerance to lateness... Mariel thought for a moment, then raised her hand. "It sounds like since Fours value structure that they would place quite a bit of emphasis on time. Everything would need to be scheduled just so, run on schedule, and they would need to have things planned ahead. I bet they're good time-managers, maybe good multi-taskers too."

Varius raised his hand, pleased with his three points, "I do think that fours like to be on time, but I think it's more than that. I believe them to be early birds and over acheivers. I think they like to do everything much much earlier than the deadline. They would do the homework straight away as opposed to some time in between the two week deadline period or they would arrive fifteen minutes early to a date instead of bang on time. I believe they are very much early people."

But, while they may start something early, they may not necessarily finish early because they move slowly and often need to work to quicken their thinking. It takes more time to do things and to form things as a four, so depending on the task, they may just manage to finish on time. One point for your effort."
Macadrian tucked a stray curl behind her ear, "The 4 is blessed with endurance, dedication, organization, and discipline, with the knowledge to manage a home or a business. The 4 has great stamina and the gift of concentration. Yet, the challenge for the 4 is to not be rigid, but resilient, to see the need for structure, but not be inflexible. It is always a challenge for a 4 to not be controlling. "After hearing what I've just told you, what life lessons do you think the 4 needs to learn?"

Cela thought about it for a moment and raised her hand, "Sure a 4 needs to learn to go with the flow and relax and lighten up and all that, but I think a 4 needs to learn to find a balance. Because sometimes their nature to be controlling, planned and structured is a good thing, but it can also limit their life when they aren't willing to go through a door that has unexpectedly opened. Finding that balance- being able to let go and still let their inherent nature work for them- can only enrich their lives and not hinder it as they are probably afraid of."
