As you step through the Arithmancy classroom doors, you see that the wooden desks and chairs from last class have been replaced with comfy armchairs and lapdesks, and are arranged in a circle. Two walls of the room are covered by thick wooden shelves, filled with a seemingly endless number of Arithmancy texts and the occasional Ancient Runes and Divination reference. The other two walls of the room are covered in framed pictures and posters of a very old man doing mathematical calculations, a map of the Mediterranean, a witch carrying a large wooden number seven, a chart converting letters to numbers, and many more pictures with a number at the top and people exhibiting various qualities below. These number pictures are larger than they were last lesson and are able to be seen much more clearly.

Professor Shackleton sits atop the edge of her desk with her legs crossed and her hands folded in her lap. Her lemon yellow robes contrast greatly with the dark tone of her desk. She smiles welcomingly at you as you enter the classroom and makes a small gesture for you to take a seat in one of the many chairs in the room.

OOC: This lesson is for first, second, and third years ONLY. Any students in fourth year and above who post will be dismissed.

Jake entered the classroom and smiled. "Alright, Professor?" he asked softly, heading for a comfy and nifty looking armchair. "How are you?"

What? Circle again? Was the whole wizarding world obssessed by spherical shapes?

Cam walked into the classroom, carrying his bag filled with all the things he needed. He made a "hello" wave to the professor before taking a glance at the comfy-looking armchairs. OOOH! Quickly he took a seat on one of them next to Jake and started to take out items from his bag.

Sakura wandered into the Arithmancy classroom and smiled slightly at the Professor before finding a seat at the front of the classroom and sitting down. She quickly unpacked what she would need and then sat silently waiting for the rest of the class to arrive.

She trudged down the corridor dreaded going to Arthimancy again. She felt like a total doofus in that class and she hated feeling stupid. She walked in and had to blink at the arrangement. This looked promising, she thought to herself as she smiled. "Good Morning Professor," She smiled as she took a seat next to Jake.

Professor Shackleton greeted all of the students as they entered the classroom, "Good morning! Please make yourselves comfortable in an armchair and take out your textbooks. We'll be focusing on Chapters Three through Five today, so you may want to open to those pages and peruse before we begin the lesson. You may chat amongst yourselves softly until I start the lesson, but I'd like to give your classmates a bit more time to get here before we begin."

Jack looked up at Shackleton "Thanks" 'I think' he added silently "Sak" he acknowledged her.

Jake smiled at Cam and Paris as they both sat on either side of him. Cool, he was safe from the face-breaker and the arm dislocator. This was looking promising. "Hi," he said to his Slytherin friends, softly.

Pushing himself a little further back in the armchair (because he was still scared of Jack, no matter how many lies were told) Jake pulled out his book and re-read the chapters they needed.

And... the headache which was complimentary with this lesson began.

Nancy almost bounced into the Arithmancy classroom with a huge beam plastered across her face and her dark-blonde hair swishing through the air. She was on the team! She was on the team! Weeee! Giving Professor Shackleton a grin the third year said cheerfully, "Good day, Professor. How are you this fine day?" before quickly walking up to a desk in the middle of the classroom to plop down into a seat next to it.

She pinched Jake's cheek as he said hello to her. "Hey sweetie," She smiled at him as she pulled her book out and flipped to Chapter 3.

Jake pushed himself back again and looked away, gritting his teeth. "Just stay away away from me..." he muttered. He didn't like being scared of people, of anything, he hated it. He hadn't even done anything wrong the first time, so who was to say that he wouldn't do anything now. The last time that fist made contact was in the presence of a seemingly mean teacher... Looking over at Jake Sakura decided that she would have to talk to him at some point. He had to understand that Jack wasn't faking anything and that he was genuinely confused as to why Jake was acting the way he was. However that would have to wait anyway, right now she resolved to go over the relevant chapters of her textbook.

Nancy was humming quietly to herself as she nodded at what Professor Shackleton had said and bent down to fetch her Arithmancy textbook out of her bag. The third year crossed her legs while placing the book onto the desk in front of her and started looking for the right chapter a huge beam still plastered across her face. Out of the corner of her eyes she then noticed a sudden movement which made her head jerk up and spot Jake who was waving at her and had apparently noticed her excitement. Giving him a grin Nancy quickly waved back before exclaiming, "Hey Jake. Hey Paris. Hey Cam." Her grin became even more intense at Jake's question as she added, "I made it on the Slytherin Quidditch team!"

Professor Shackleton glanced at her watch and decided that enough time had passed. With a flick of her wand, the doors to the Arithmancy classroom closed quietly. Macadrian addressed the class, "Welcome back to Basic Arithmancy. Today we're going to be studying the Energies of Numbers. We will discuss the qualities associated the single digit numbers 1 through 6. We'll then consider how the qualities of the numbers relate to its energy, timing, life, blessings, challenges, lessons, relationships, and a slew of other things. So, are we ready?"

"Your doing it again." She said in a somewhat bemused tone. "Umm because I've never done anything to make him distrust me? Oh and raising your voice at him probably isn't the best thing to do in the circumstances." She then went back to looking at her textbook. She did however keep one eye on Jack and Jake.

Jake flinched under Jack when he shouted, staring. He looked around at Nancy and replied. "Same here for Hufflepuff," a little shaken, before listening to Shackleton.

"I'm ready..." he nodded, eyeing Jack warily.

Wow! Jake had made it on the team as welll! that was just great! Hufflepuff vs. Slytherin should be a quite interesting match then. Teehee... Nancy's brow furrowed slightly as someone suddenly started shouting around and as she half-turned her head in search for this irritating someone her blue eyes fell on Jack, the cat-kicker. Shaking her head slightly in annoyance Nancy gave Jake and the others a pointed look before she started to get up from her seat to sit with Jake, Paris and Cam Professor Shackleton had apparently decided to start the lesson right now. Oh well, there was loads of time to talk later, especially since the weren't supposed to chat during classes in the first place. Looking back at her textbook Nancy smiled at the professor and with a nod said, "Yes, professor."

Jack span "Say what?" his face went blank

Professor Shackleton sensed the hostility between some of her students but decided not to get involved. If it escalated beyond raised voices or disturbed her class, then she would wedge herself in the thick of it, but as of yet it was none of her business. Instead, she focused her attention on beginning the lesson.

Shifting her weight on the desk, "I'd like for each person to give me two key words associated with the number one."
