"I am well, thank you." He smirked a little. "Do not feel you must stand on ceremony with me, however. Something is troubling you."

Kayla smiled a little at the Professor. "Ah...but it never hurts though does it" she replied and inclining her head ever so slightly.

"Well there is nothing troubling me per say, more I guess...I need your expertise I suppose you would call it" she ventured. "What I would like to know is, if one is to extract memories from themselves and place those memories into a pensieve or jar or what have you. Once those memories are outside the body, do you then have no recollection of them whatsoever?" Kayla watched the Professor's reaction to her question, she knew he would be the only one to come and ask this.

"Ah, I see. That question is tricky, as the more simple answer is also barely an answer at all: yes and no." He relaxed a little, placing his hands on the desk and leaning against it a little more. "If you had absolutely no recollection, for example, it would be nearly impossible to remember that you had the memory at all, and likely forget why you wanted to review it. And looking at it would create a strangely separate set of memories once you did, and there would be no reason to replace it."

"Now, on the other hand, when legimency is used against you, it cannot find a memory placed in a pensieve. Personally, I believe this theory is bull. I think if you were to search hard enough, you could find traces of it, but such a thing has yet to be done."

He paused a moment to let this sink in before continuing. "My personal theory on the matter, which involves one to believe that the spirit or soul does exist, is that while you can remove something from the mind, you cannot remove it from the soul. Some part of you will always remember. And removing the memory, some part of you will always know what it is about. I will say this: the other problem is that you may have one memory, but even if you remove it, you also have every memory of ever thinking about it, and that will remain. It will be hard to remove all traces of a single memory, because we think back on such matters. But those memories are not as strong, and thus less likely to be remembered and found."

Kayla listened quietly as Professor Carracio spoke and she leaned forward a little in her chair. "I had already encountered that more than one memory would have to be removed and that was going to be my next question. How many memories can you remove at one time?"

She leaned back in the chair a thoughful look on her face. "Before you answer that however, I would like to ask this first. If the soul or spirit as you said will still remember the memories, is there a way of blocking your soul so that it doesn't. Surely they wouldn't be as strong as the memories of your mind."

But she was starting to see how complicated this could become as the Professor had said if she removed all the memories and put them away, then she would not remember that they were there in the first place and why. The sixty four thousand dollar question was...would she care?

tuffy walked in and said "hey guys, how are you."

As he was about to answer her, some other student rudely walked in and began talking to him. In an act of seething he stood, advancing on the young student. "It is rude of you to walk in without knocking, uninvited. Even so, upon seeing me in a private conversation with another student--unless it is a matter of great importance, which is the only reason that door is still open--you should have back out graciously and closed the door. Now, do leave before I take points from your house."

Kayla looked around at the sound of another voice and immediately thought how rude. She watched as the Professor got up from his chair and strode toward the student and she flinched slightly. She remembered that look quite well, one that she hoped she never got to see again while he was addressing her. Thank god it's not a Hufflepuff she thought.

Kayla turned back around and waited for the Professor to return to his seat and resume their converation.

Jasmine had just approached her father's office open door when she heard him scolding a student for entering his office without knocking. Ouch! She knew that tone of voice. However she couldn't help but smirk a little as she remembered the very first time she had entered his office without knocking. She was a petrified first year carrying a half dead peppermint plant. Glancing at her father she gave him a fond look and thought,"Well I have been there, and done that haven't I Papa?"

While her father was dealing with the student that interrupted, Jasmine peeked into his office to see who he was talking to. Now that girl looked familiar... ahh yes."Hello Kayla!" she said with a friendly smile,"Hope the headache is better? I see you survived the ministrations of Nurse, no excuse me, Healer Cassandra." she gave her a wink and then not wanting to interrupt further, gave Kayla a wave,"It was good to see you again."

Turning to her father when he was through, she went on to say quickly, "Sorry Papa, I will come back later when you are not so busy. I do have a couple of things to discuss with you, however, they will keep for now." Smiling warmly, Jasmine kissed the tips of her fingers before placing them over the frown lines on his forehead and rubbing them away gently. She never liked to see him looking so stern. "Ti amo Papa." She whispered softly and then made her exit.

Turning in her chair once more Kayla saw that Jasmine was standing in the doorway and she smiled warmly at the older girl. "Much better thank you" she replied.

Kayla chuckled softly, "Just barely" she answered and gave Jasmine a wink back. "Good to see you too, Jasmine."

He locked the door this time and decided that if they needed to talk, they could wait. He shook his head and reviewed everything in his mind, trying to recover. "Many interruptions. And I swear I have one student who doesn't have any manners each year. Now, I believe we were talking memories."

He walked back and leaned against the desk once more. "Memories of the soul are not as lightly taken care of. And I dare say that if we could completely remove something, then it would be far easier to obliviate a person in order to heal them from mental traumas. On the other hand, sometimes a person, in order to preserve their own sanity, would block out something and only some of the most skilled of legimens can unlock it. Even then, there's always a... feeling." Something in his eyes said that he spoke from experience.

"The way that you can wipe a person's memory... People have forgotten their names, their entire lives... and often still remember how to speak. Can do things that they never remember doing in their lives. Often you can't erase the skill because their 'body' remembers what their 'mind' does not. To completely wipe something could take a very skilled manipulation which cannot be done to the self. The only thing a person can do if they wish to hide it would be to learn to build the barriers that the mind can naturally build."

Kayla listened intently and took in everything the Professor said. So she couldn't totally erase the memories but she could block them. Something her grandmother had tried to teach her but something she had never been able to master.

"Professor..." she hedged hesitantly..."Would you be able to teach me how to block these memories? I wouldn't ask if I didn't think it was important" Kayla knew she grasping at straws here. Professor Carracio was probably too busy to do this but she did need his help.

He raised a delicate brow. "I suppose I could. You are fairly young to be learning already, but I've heard of younger. We should talk with the headmistress, however, as you will be spending a few hours with me at a time, and I am rather in a position that I would like to avoid the appearance of suspicious activities."

Kayla's face brightened considerably and she wanted to jump out of her chair and squeal but she refrained from doing so, somehow she didn't think the Professor would appreciate it...that and she would look like an idiot.

"Thank you Professor, it is most generous of you to give up your time for me" she said graciously and then nodded. "I understand completely."

He smiled softly. "It is most certainly not a problem. If you wish, we could see if the headmistress is available now for this discussion."

Kayla stood up from the chair. "Of course, we should go now."

He pushed away from the desk with a nod. "Alright." He made his way to the door and unlocked it, then held it open for her. "After you, m'lady."

Well, it had only taken him a few weeks to finally find himself standing outside Professor Carracio's office. Feeling somewhat triumphant, Professor Bontecou knocked on the door.

Professor Carracio was just heading back to his office from being with the Headmistress. He was certain that what has happened with Marco was still hanging over him. Not to mention, there had been so much else going on... he couldn't expect everyone to believe his lies. The Headmistress was not like everyone else either. He couldn't allow himself to get by thinking that she didn't suspect him, at least on some level. She was the last person he needed to underestimate.

Just as he flicked his wand into his hand he noticed someone quite a bit taller than most of the students by his door. Either a professor or one of the older students. Coming closer he found it was the Potions Master that he had been to the office of before. Was he in the staff room as well? He honestly couldn't remember. "Professor Bontecou, it's good to see you," he said, wordlessly unlocking the door and gesturing the wand back to its wrist sheath. "Please, come in. How may I help you?"

Camira knocked on the door and waited. She really hoped Professor Carracio was in. She really needed to talk to someone who had more than half a brain cell. She hoped from foot to foot, waiting anxiously. Besides, she hadn't talked to him in a long while. Catching up would be good, hopefully.

Chris had heard the news about how Professor Carracio was leaving. He knocked on the door and entered. "Professor i heard about you leaving and i brought you a gift. Here are some crystalized pineapple." he held out a box with a bow on it. "I hope you like it."

Carracio answered the door with a raised brow. "May I help you?"

Camira nodded slightly. "I was just hoping for someone to talk to. You always were always my favorite when it came to things like that", she said, giving him a small smile.

She glanced and looked at the boy. Ugh. Why could she never talk to anyone alone. "Though maybe it's best if you...deal with him first. My conversation is a rather private one."

He shook his head, edging the other boy out. "I enjoy gifts and sweets both, but I've no tolerance for rudeness. I did not, after all, call him in, and he entered anyway. Come on in, Camira."

Bwahahaha. Stupid Gryffindors and their complete lack of manners. She gave the boy a smug look before following Professor Carracio into his office. She hesitated slightly before taking a seat. It was polite to wait until you were granted permission to sit, but she didn't really think he'd mind.

"So, you've been busy lately." It was a statement. He must have been. She'd waited quite a while. Okay, not that long, but longer than usual. While she awaited his response, she tried to think of how to start talking about what she actually wanted to talk about. She didn't really like just diving in.

Freya walked through the snow towards Professor Carracio's office, each one of her owls had taken a perch on her shoulders. She scratched their heads as she made to knock the large door in front of her. But hearing a voice inside she decided to wait. Freya sat down on the floor beside the door and gently stroked her two birds, the larger of the two let out a scream, as he was getting less attention than his friend. Freya hushed him up and closed her eyes lightly. "I just need to get something, okay?" She said quietly to her owls as she felt the feathers under her hands, 'I can't believe the term is over already...'
