"Yeah, here I am," she said smiling weakly. "How's Ravenclaw?" she asked. With all the turmoil locally she hadn't noticed much about the blue table after Mariel had sat down there. |
OOC: Too many posts to personally quote. Since it would be unrealistic anyways to react to EVERYTHING, here goes a good try at keeping up. Her attention on Raiden had been brief for Jason had begun screaming his lungs out. Something about his back hurting. Daphne's hand had flown to her wand, even thought there was a Prefect nearby. It didn't seem like he knew any first-aid for a Hufflepuff student had come and gone in the blink of an eye and dragged a Professor to his aid. Feeling better instantaneously, Miss Hopton no longer worried about the boy and smiled politely at Kingston, in hopes of bringing up a polite conversation with the son of his Father's associates but yet one more student arrived. Who was she? A new student obviously. Ah! A Ravenclaw; Before Daphne could introduce herself, the girl was requesting an escort service from Kingston. Smirking she nodded politely at the young man, a hand drifting to the corner of her lips to hide the slight upturning of it from him. "Don't let me stop you, Mister Wendleworth" was her reply. Her ears couldn't quite block out Jason's voice and his suspicious behavior; observing him and the Prefects talking from the corner of her eyes she yet, once more, picked up the water goblet nearby and smiled at Raiden and Bree (who seemed to have sparked up conversation with someone else). "I think there's been a big misunderstanding, don't you think?" Whispered Daphne sadly, pale brows wrinkling in deep thought. "I can't help but feel I'm being blamed for something." Was her story about shopping and Thug Boy so boring that it caused outrage in the older, burly Gryffindor boy? |

She held one up. "We didnt have them last year!" She hoped she sounded convincing, after all, she was just screaming about them a few minutes ago... Quote:
"Hi Jason!" |
" Right Allie, we have utensils and we are not dangerous" Jason told her. |

"Oh, screaming?" Bree said grimacing. "That'd be Jason, over there," she said indicating the fifth year sitting a few seats down. "Apparently he hurt his back. He's been going on about it a bit." she said distastefully. Then she took a deep breath. Okay? Things were far from okay? But how much should she say? Should she even say anything? "Things are...alright, I suppose," she said uncertainly trying to put her face into neutral. It seemed stuck in "chronically nervous that a big mean fifth-year is going to get me in trouble with some prefects whom I just met and kind of like" gear. "Met the prefects," she added as an afterthought. |

Raiden was very, utterly, completely confused. He'd simply asked a question. He didn't know what was wrong with the older Gryffindor boy, why would he know why the guy was shouting his head off? And, after he'd quietly whispered his question to Daphne Hopton... the guy was looking at Raiden like he was a bit of scum that had just been scraped off the sidewalk. Had he done something offensive?! He looked at the girl he didn't know, still feeling a bit uneasy about the older guy. And then... she was telling him what was going on. This guy was being mean to her? And to Daphne Hopton too, it seemed. How rude! How downright despicable of him! Raiden, being a sweet boy, would never be downright horrible to a person, but... this Jason person wasn't being very nice to his friend Daphne Hopton, and that meant that Raiden didn't see any reason at all to be nice to him either. The guy was even being short with Kingston Wendleworth! Why would anyone do that? Kingston Wendleworth was nice! "Haai Kingston Wendleworth," Raiden said, looking up at the older boy when he appeared. He stood almost protectively near Daphne Hopton, and Raiden felt a bit more at ease. At least, with Kingston Wendleworth here, Jason wouldn't dare be rude to Daphne Hopton again. "How are you?" He looked back at Daphe Hopton again. "I don't know that older guy, Daphne Hopton, but he doesn't seem very nice," Raiden said honestly, his smile fading a bit. "That girl next to you said that he was being mean to her and glaring... and he wasn't being polite to you, either... or Kingston Wendleworth..." At least he could be sure that he wasn't being discriminated against because he was a Slytherin now... |
"Allie! Astrid!" Usagi squealed (in a very high-pitched voice, mind you) and ran to them. She gave them each a bear hug and started to pour questions onto her poor friends: "So, what's your summer been like? I haven't see you two in Diagon Alley or anywhere else! Excited to be at Hogwarts? I can't hear you scream without recognizing the voice, Allie." She winked. |

The Slytherin spoke again and her ears, pricked for anything that might indicate safety was in sight, caught herself being mentioned. She liked this boy. He wasn't being scary like Jason, nor was he accident-prone like Cale (or at least so it seemed) but normal. A nice normal, friendly boy. If they were all like this she'd be able to live with them. "I'm Bree, by the way," she interjected shyly, blushing slightly. Someone who sounded like he might defend her. That sounded nice. Even if he was a first-year at least he was taller than her. The pains of being less than five feet tall. She cursed her shortness once again. She fidgeted and let her hair down distractedly, replacing the hair tie in her robes' pocket and smoothing out her blonde hair slowly. At least Jason wasn't glaring at her anymore. Maybe she could hide in between Mariel, Daphne, whoever this Kingston was and this Slytherin. They'd help her wouldn't they? |
Kingston smiled at the Ravenclaw's little bow. She didn't seem to know that a girl was supposed to curtsy and not bow. Of course, she wasn't a girl of a high society such as Miss Hopton, but nonetheless, it was polite of her to do that, and Kingston smiled for it. "Nonsense, my dear. You shan't go alone. Highly improper," he told her with a firm nod, still holding onto her hand. "And it is not of any disturbance, frankly. I enjoy escorting young ladies such as yourself," he added with a small smile, his eyes softening a bit. Once the girl told him her name, he lifted her hand and brushed his lips on the back of her hand. "How honored I am to be escorting such a fine maiden such as yourself, Miss Roscoe." Kingston murmured once he looked at her, a small grin crept on his lips, trying his best to restrain himself from laughing at the girl's coming reaction. "Ahh you must meet Miss Hopton, my dear!" Kingston smiled at Miss Roscoe, pulling her into him and looking down at Daphne. His eyes twinkled at Miss Hopton's reply, dropping Miss Roscoe's hand and holding Miss Hopton's. "Ahhh, but a maiden such as yourself shan't stop me, dear." He smiled, brushing his lips on the back of her hand. "I promise y--" but before he could continue, Mr... Ah he had forgotten the lad's name. "Ahh, why hello to you too Mr. Kururugi." Wonderful! He had remembered the boy's name! It would be obscene if he had forgotten it. The horror. Dropping Miss Hopton's hand, he turned his attention to the young boy and smiled. "I am well, my boy. And how are you? Enjoying your time at Hogwarts, I presume?" |
" I am not mean" Jason shot back at the Slytherin. " If you ask anyone here, I have more friends here from first years to seventh years" Jason told the Slytherin boy. " I treat all my freinds right and with respect" Jason told the Slytherin boy. " I have lots of cousins here and I treat them with the utmost respect from first years to seventh years" |

She watched Bree curiously as she answered her last question. Bree wasn't entirely convincing and Mariel wondered why. She thought for a moment, then decided she wouldn't try to coerce someone she had just met to open up to her. In fact, if the situation were reversed, Mariel would've responded the same way. Mariel's interest was piqued when Bree mentioned meeting prefects. She had always been suspicious of those in a position of authority and wondered if they would be ones to watch out for. "Prefects? What are they like?" Mariel asked slowly. |

Bree didn't respond although she agreed wholeheartedly. She didn't want anymore trouble with him. He really did make a fuss over nothing. "They seem quite nice. They've offered me homework help and...erm...dating advice." she said slowly although the idea that she would want to be seen in public with some boy still seemed ludicrous. She smiled a little feeling better now that the topic seemed to have shifted away from the dangerous hinterlands of disapproving prefects. "There's a boy and a girl and I think they're dating." she said continuing to expand on Cale and Anna. "Jason seems to be good friends with them..." she paused unsure whether to delve into this issue. |

Slipping her hand away from Kingston's grasp, Daphne gazed seriously at Jason who was defending himself over Raiden's innocent remark. Placing one hand on Raiden's shoulder she cleared her throat, intending to speak up. "I'm sure you're very polite, Jason. Raiden's just a first year. You remember your first year don't you? It's quite easy to be intimidated by older students." |
" Well, I have made a lot of first year freinds, this term, last term, the term before that and son on " Jason told Daphne. " Actually, I found the older students very helpful in my first year but of course, I make a lot of freinds easily " Jason told her. Jason can't believe this all started over him hurting his back and actually trying to be nice to some first year girl from Gryffindor and being nice to Daphne. He never disliked Daphne or the girl. |
Quote:
"Well, they sound friendly enough. Haven't met Ravenclaw's prefects though." That seemd a bit intimidating. Mariel wondered if they'd be so friendly to offer help with homework or - groan - offer dating advice. |

Raiden was having trouble keeping up with all this. He gave a smile to the girl, who introduced herself as Bree, and extended his hand carefully in front of Daphne Hopton. "Nice to meet you, Bree!" he said brightly. His attention then diverted to Kingston Wendleworth, and he took his hand back from Bree so as to not bother Daphne Hopton with his arm's presence. His smile faded a bit, and he looked unsurely down the table to where Cale and Anna were talking to that Jason guy. "I'm alright, just a little con-" And then that Jason guy... had somehow heard Raiden's soft-spoken words from all the way over there! How had he done that? Did he have some sort of magical hearing aid that he could turn up so as to hear everyone talking? Raiden's jaw dropped at the boy's sharp words. He claimed that he treated his friends and family with respect, but... he had just met Raiden and Bree and Daphne Hopton, and he was being really rude to them... And silly little Raiden let that thought out. "But... you're not being nice to people you've just met," he said softly, wondering if the older boy's super-hearing would pick it up. "Even if you're nice to your friends and family, that doesn't mean you're not being mean to us... you were glaring at Bree, and you weren't being polite to Daphne Hopton...and you were short with Kingston Wendleworth, too." And then Daphne Hopton had her hand on his shoulder and was speaking... Intimidated? Didn't that word mean he was sort of... frightened of the older boy? Raiden was irked by him, for sure, especially now... but frightened? He didn't seem all that scary. "Intimidated?" he whispered, his words barely audible. "That might not be the right word, Daphne Hopton... Doesn't intimidated mean he's sort of frightening me? I'm not afraid of him..." |
Jason just said this once- "I was never the rude one" Jason said. |
Kingston heard Miss Hopton's whisper and chuckled as a response. "Nonsense, my dear girl! Every girl is a fair maiden in my eyes," he told her with a little smile. The girl seemed a little shy to admit that she was indeed a maiden. Maybe even a true maiden other than these... commoners. But, Kingston had to be the best he can be. He was expected to graduate and be thrown into high society parties in an instant. At least he can have his practice here... He shouldn't call it a practice, really. More like a game of tennis which he wins all the time. His eyebrow shot up at Mr. Weasley's response to Mr. Kururugi. Well that wasn't very polite in the slightest. Of course, the boy probably didn't even have an inch of politeness in his body. First the screaming and now this? How rude! "Mr. Weasley, I suggest you be nice to Mr. Kururugi. He is a first year, after all. And a boy your age shouldn't act in such a way, I admit. If you would please act a little more nicely, my dear boy, the world would probably be a happier place." Kingston told him, forcing a smile on his lips. |
" First off, I am nice to everyone, but you both started this argument and again, I have more freinds from first to seventh years here" Jason told Kingston. " You and Raiden have been rude to me at this table which is Gryffindor and all because I hurt my back" Jason told him. "While I heard you complaining on the train,, I was busy talking to everyone and making freinds" Jason said. " Al I said was Hi to Bree and Daphne and they got mad" Jason told the boy. " See Jillianna said hello to me,she is a first year after I said hello to her, too" Jason said nicely. "Again, I think all of you are being rude to me so I would appreciate it if none of you talk to me again because sometimes you can't always be freinds with others and I wil not speak to anoy of you, either" Jason told Kingston. Jason went back to eating and ignoring them. Jason can not wait for Cale and Anna, the prefects to show back up. |
Daphne's cheeks tinted a pale rose color from embarrassment due to Kingston's behavior, Raiden's correction and Jason's declaration of animosity, burned brightly and she could only breathe out to release the tension in her chest. Shaking her hair away from her face, she looked up at the enchanted ceiling for a few seconds, willing the stinging in her eyes to disappear. "I'm sorry you feel that way Jason," she replied honestly. "But I can't see how you can say I'm mad at you. When you asked me of my summer I replied but you didn't seem that interested in what I had to say so I left it at that because I didn't want to impose anything on you." Deep breaths dear, she told herself and poured herself some water. "I'll do as you wish though, and again. I'm very sorry for whatever it is that upsets you." There. At least he can't say she didn't try. Her Mother, however, would be most displeased. First day at Hogwarts and she had managed to anger someone already. Rubbing one scalding cheek thoughtfully, her mind quickly drifted to food to comfort herself, perhaps just a buttered dinner roll for now. |
" Ok Daphne, I am sorry and I really wanted to hear about your summer but did not my back start hurting then?' Jaason asked her. " I am all ears now for what you did over your summer" Jason told Daphne. |

Raiden looked at Kingston Wendleworth and smiled. It was nice of the older boy to stick up for him, but honestly, any words directed at him personally by the Gryffindor kid didn't bother him in the slightest. He was more concerned about the treatment his friends were receiving... "It's okay, Kingston Wendleworth," Raiden said softly. "I'm not worried about him being nice to me... I'm worried about him being nice to Daphne Hopton and Bree... and you." Raiden looked at the older boy as he started a big, long rant about how he was nice to everyone, again proclaiming that he had vast amounts of friends of various ages and that Kingston and Raiden were rude. Rude? Raiden couldn't recall he or Kingston saying ANYTHING rude to the silly Gryffindor. Especially about his back! For the first time in a very long time, Raiden started to feel tinges of anger prickling at him. This guy was really starting to get him bothered, accusing people of being rude and saying things that they hadn't said... And how he didn't want any of them to speak to him, and he wouldn't speak to annoy them, either? "Excuse me, but Kingston Wendleworth and I never said anything rude to you!" Raiden stared at the older boy, his words a bit sharpened by his displeasure of the situation. He was unhappy with what was happening, that was for sure... People saying rude things to his friends was not something he took in stride. "And Daphne Hopton was never anything but nice to you, and Bree's new here too, she's prolly nervous and didn't say anything that a nervous person wouldn't say... I'm sorry, but I don't think they're the rude ones here." And now... Daphne Hopton seemed very upset. Raiden's face fell and he leaned in a bit closer to her; she was very pink. Apparently, they had embarrassed her. He bit his lip and very gently touched her shoulder, hoping not to startle her. "Are you okay, Daphne Hopton?" he asked, voice tinged with worry. "If I did something to help upset you, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to..." |
It was lucky that her heart wasn't trying to rip itself out of her chest to do a victory dance. Truly, it was, for as far as she was aware, it was more than capable of doing that at that particular moment. Too capable of it, mind you. Not that Melly cared that much about it, since she was too busy telling herself not to hyperventilate, trip on her feet or stammer too much. Yes, too much, for there was no doubt that the time when she'd stammer would come sooner or later. That always happened when she was embarrassed. Smiling a small of her own in reply to his, she could tell that her heart had skipped a beat or two. Aaah, his smile was so prince charming like that it could easily kill her. Oh, what had she done to receive such fortune? A fairytale castle and a prince charming all on the same day. That was more than she could ever afford to ask for. "Thank you, sir," She whispered, her cheeks still as red as one's face can be. And again her heart skipped a few beats. Yes, prince Kingston was going to kill her with joy. Unless she was extremely lucky, of course. Unable to react to the kiss he planted on her hand or his first words, the girl merely smiled shyly before her eyes widened just the slightest once she heard him call her name. "Oh, Melina's fine! Really. A-and most people, erm, most people call me Melly," She told him without a second thought, her voice growing embarrassed with every word as she realized what she had just done. But hey, it was too weird for her to see someone calling her by her last name. After all, only teachers did that and even so, some ended up calling her by her first name or nickname, which she honestly enjoyed. Miss Roscoe made her feel like a teenager or a young adult and she wasn't that close to either. She almost squealed when prince Kingston pulled her into him. HE HAD TOUCHED HER AGAIN! He had, he had, he HAD! Oooooh, that was her luckiest day ever! E-V-E-R! Finding herself in front of another girl who seemed to be about as young as she was, Mel smiled at the female, now shy because the girl knew Kingston and she seemed to speak in a fashion which clearly showed that she was probably a princess herself. Wow. A castle, a prince and a princess all on the same day. Somebody would better pinch her before she started to believe she was dreaming. "Hello," She said in her shy tone. "I'm Melina Roscoe. It's a pleasure to meet you." And truly, it was. |
