| | | Staff Table The staff table sits on a dias at the front of the Great Hall. Lined with identical chairs, the table is set with heavy china in a flowery print and solid gold goblets. At the center of the table there seems to be a space, though a small three-legged stool can be seen if one looks under the table.
Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that some of the chairs have cushions, and some do not. Those that don't also seem to wobble as if one leg is just a bit too short. |

He took a deep breath and liked what he smelled. Men. A school of properly (or after he was finished with them) bred men. Men that would walk in his footsteps and try to be as great as him. Oh they could try...
Finally, Lord Berty Borr reached the Staff Table. He shoved some kid out of his way and preceded. He clapped his hands for attention (as if that were needed and everyone wasn't already looking at him), "Your attention! Your attention up here!" Lord Borr raised his cane once and let it slap down against the table in a loud, startling crack.
"Welcome, Men! Welcome to Cooper's School of Magic for Young Wizards. This is a proud, proud day indeed! Do you know what I see before me? Do you?" He paused in case anyone needed a chance to look around see.
"I see a change! A change from the uneducated boys that other school turned out. I see the future of the Ministry, and it is as bright as the day! I see no frilly perfumed distractions," Lord Borr glanced around to be sure of that," and I see law abiding champions!" Lord Borr raised his fist in the air, his speech growing more and more animated. Spit was flying from his over eager lips. "We are back on track and greatness will be achieved in this newly built monument to the Minister."
Lord Borr began to clap. His clap started slow, then started picking up a pace. "A round of applause for our Minister, Brennan Cooper!!" Quote:

With your silk napkins! WITH GOLD NAPKINS!" Lord Borr ruffled little Mr. Wendleworth's hair. "It might interest you to know that I, Lord Borr, was a Hufflepuff in my day. And look at me! TRULY GET A GOOD LOOK BOYS! I am great. I am important. And if you stick with me, you might follow suit!" After another phlegmy breather, he continued, "Why if I were you I'd be out back in the forest right now! Cutting down trees and fashioning myself a THRONE worthy of me!" These boys were obviously not up to what he had been as boy - but with his help - they could be.
Bless them, one and all. Quote:

Let Lord Borr thrust some knowledge upon you, give you some perspective, and teach you a lesson." Lord Borr patted his knee and welcomed Mr. Wendleworth to sit upon it like a grandson might be beckoned to his grandfather.
Before he could get Kingston settled though, there was another young man at his side. Two, actually. Lord Borr truly was very busy and very important. "Son, I'm sorry to hear that. But you know what I like to hear? You know what I'm hearing? I'm hearing ALL GOOD THINGS! I hear you all wanting better! THE BEST! I LIKE IT!" Lord Borr had the manic spitting again. Lord Borr frowned and dropped his knee out from the boy. He faked a cramp. "Terribly sorry about that. Terribly sorry. Trick knee." This boy, who was just that - a boy, was not worthy of a gold throne. What EXACTLY had he done? NOTHING. He needed to learn his place, and as Lord Borr saw it, it was beneath him on the floor at the moment. "Perhaps I'll have you do it for me," Lord Borr smiled his wicked smile. He liked this boy, but he would learn his place.
"Sure, my young man. Go sit back at your table and eat up. Too skinny and scrawny for my likings, and if you ever want to court a young woman - you need to grow some! Go! Sit! EAT! Teachers in the muggle world are not allowed to touch a child in anyway at all. Therefore it would be befitting that you do not touch me. Even if you are a Lord, you have no right to touch my person in anyway." He stood firmly in his spot, not heading back to the table. Quote:

Professor Branxton stood tall and tapped his spoon on his goblet. "May I have your attention please. It is time to take your seats. This is the staff table, not a soap box. If you have a problem with any of the professors or your treatment, please feel free to owl home to your parents. The Ministry has gone to a lot of trouble to construct this new school for the betterment of your education regardless of your opinions. Now, regardless of your personal views, the staff deserves your respect and there will be consequences if you do not do so. The feast will begin shortly. I thank you for your patience."
And with that, he sat back down on his little stool. Did the students think they were the only ones with grievances? He sighed and shook his head at his own thoughts. Maybe he had never actually warmed up to the children and teaching at all. Maybe it had only been Cassandra's presence which had kept him from running screaming from the school. Quote:

Finn laughed as the great beast of a man began to turn awful shades of color. He wondered if the man's head would explode.

His eyes then fell upon another large man that came to the table with his cane in hand. With the speech that he made, Caleum was more than proud to hear the words "no frilly perfumed distractions". That in itself deserved a clapping all together. "Well said," he spoke under his breath with a twitch of a smile. Females were a great distraction to the male species and if they wanted to learn, they needed to find out that being separated could do more good than harm, although he did like Hogwarts a lot better than this place. But none the less, they were here to learn, not frolic about the school holding hands. Quote:

After a while, the students were becoming more and more, quite a distraction to the beginning feast they were about to have. His attention turned to Professor Braxton and smiled. So far an interesting term, especially with all the faces that seemed to be popping up, not student wise but Ministry wise. In past history, it was never a good thing when the Ministry stuck their hands into Hogwarts and it was going to be interesting to see what would come from all of this as well. History again! Caleum sat as calm as he could, waiting patiently for things to begin, even though he was not happy with the points being taken away from Hufflepuff and the bad behaviors that had already started.

Forrester answered, leaving Borr his open for more punishment on the boy.

Finn saw what he thought was his head of house. He appeared to be watching and waiting. Finn approached him. Speaking loud enough to be heard over the bellowing of the buffoon Borr, he asked, Sir. Are you the Hufflepuff Head of House?

Of course, if you have no pride in yourself, I'm sure even negative attention from others is better than being ignored."

If Lord Borr's wrath and anger and high blood pressure would have allowed it, he would have hugged that Professor Forrestor. Such a good sort of fellow. Nice man. Decent role model. Bit too skinny, but not everyone could be perfect like Lord Borr.
Lord Borr pushed to his feet. "Deliver the new cane to my office, Mr. Potter," Lord Borr was eerily calm. "I will not have a second hand cane that was put together with some little idiot's magic wand. You get me a new wand and I won't send for the Ministry Police. When you deliver the cane, I will deliver you next task."
And this kid was officially dismissed. Lord Borr sat back down with a large, loud noise that sounded a lot like Lord Borr had passed gas. He massaged his temples.

So this guy was higher up than Borr, but lower than Branxton, interesting. "20 points? So that makes my total up to, minus 25. Well a worthy feat for my first day at Hogwarts." He smiled to himself. "Technically it is you that is putting the House in last place, not myself. For I am not removing them from Slytherin." Quote:

When you deliver the cane, I will deliver you next task."
And this kid was officially dismissed. Lord Borr sat back down with a large, loud noise that sounded a lot like Lord Borr had passed gas. He massaged his temples. "A brand new cane. I can do that. Would you like that in gold, or just in plain wood?" he smirked. "And I am not an idiot. I am rather smart. I can do a simple repairing charm." He raised both his eyebrows, "You would call the Ministry Police on me? But I am a minor. I would just be warned. What use would that have to you? I would still be rattling around this school. Attending your lessons. Watching your every move."
He smiled, as he noticed he was dismissed. Finally, what a joke. He returned back to his table.

Names were a good thing to process from time to time.

Hitachi walked over to the staff table nervously. He scratched his chin and thought. When he arrived, he laughed with no humor and slapped Ignatius's back repeatedly. "Ah, Professors, I'm sorry for dear Ignatius's abrupt disturbance. You see he had a few too many chocolate frogs... I'm just going to take him back, Good day Professors." He grabbed Ignatius's arm tightly for his own good and tried to drag him back pleasantly.

"My name is Finn McMarney, sir. Thank you for your time. I was curious about some things concerning the house. Why did the colors of our house get changed, and why are we relegated to such poor eating conditions, in comparison?" Finn just wanted to know what was going on?

Caleum placed his hands together in front of him, allowing both index fingers to press against his lips. Clearly this was his first time being asked this question and he was not happy with the Ministry on changing the colors after so many centuries. "Well, Mr. McMarney, it seems as though someone was not fond of the color yellow and took it upon themselves to bring in a more suitable color, more or less for themselves." He sighed at the fact of having such a dreadful color. "I'm not very fond of the color purple myself. I find it rather...girlie if you ask me."
And he had already witnessed the fact that the Gryffindor's and Hufflepuff's seemed to be getting the short end of the stick as far as changing the colors for Hufflepuff and the tables in the Great Hall. "You know, if it were up to me, I would say that someone is not very fond of Gryffindor's and Hufflepuff's so I would make it my first priority to make sure they know that no one can bring them down and that they are just as good as the other Houses." And at this point in time, he knew that the students needed to make their way back to their seats, especially before more points were taken away.
"I'll tell you what Mr. Marney, why don't you go back to the Hufflepuff table and spread the word. Maybe this year the Huffies can do a little better and shine a bright yellow once more." He raised a brow to the student and was rather impressed by the manor ism of the young lad as he nodded his head once more.

His heart sank a bit as Mr. Myers seemed resigned to the fact that for now, this is how things would be.
Finn nodded to Mr. Myers and said "thank you, sir" before heading back to the table.

"I'm fairly certain that if you had actually waited for the traditional opening feast speech you would have had your questions answered without having to make a scene. I would suggest you take your seat and try to act a bit more civilized, despite conditions or you might make one wonderif perhaps the seating arrangements were justified," Professor Branxton calmly replied, though he was seething inside. "I, unlike an ant, am not going to allow myself to be squished," he placed his hands in his trouser pocket, as he addressed the raging man with a calm voice. "You want to take more then Sir? If you do not find this man's punishment satisfactory."
"Replace the cane? Have you not heard of magic Sir? There is a simple spell, usually taught at the age of about 11, which repairs things," he smiled. "There is no need to shout. Things go straight over my head when you shout. I think I may have a filter for it." He rocked backwards and forwards on his toes. "You want me to be your slave? He smiled, as he noticed he was dismissed. Finally, what a joke. He returned back to his table. Professor Branxton watched the exchange and as much as he disliked Mr. Borr, he could not blame the man for getting upset with the boy. What in the name of Merlin's wand had gotten into these children? They were acting as if they had never seen an authority figure before. It was completely outrageous. The nerve of the students, even in spite of the conditions they were all subject to. Did they not notice his stool? Or the substandard seating arrangements for half the staff? Of course not, they were children. Selfish, greedy, little parasites.... Deep breath. Deep, calming breaths. He was a father and he didn't hate children. He has taught children this age for many years now. There is nothing different this time than any other time with the exception of the absence of his wife and the female half. Deep, calming breaths. It wasn't working. He started cleaning his glasses and thought maybe there would be a few suspensions or even expulsions before the term was out if this was any indication for how the term would go.
OOC: Just a quick out of character reminder that though we do encourage creative characters and you can feel free to act out- the staff can and will punish your characters (even going so far as to expel your character which means you won't be able to RP anyone in the school for the rest of the term). So, just make sure that while you stay true to your character, you also make sure that you stay true to the reality of what teachers would do to students who act out like this (think about what would happen to you if you pulled these stunts with the teachers at your school).

Hogwarts RPG Name: Armand Beta-Erikson Slytherin First Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Damien Beta-Erikson Slytherin First Year | Slytherin by heart His conversation with Antwone was rudely interrupted, which didn't do much for Armand's current mood. To top it off, someone had taken his seat. Before he could move, however, there was a large rush of dissenting students (in his mind anyhow) and quite a bit of back and forth. He retreated to the the back, somewhat hiding behind the dias, as he fought off the headache and the voices. Dear Merlin, the voices were going to be bad this term.
He stood when things seemed settled and looked around. It would seem he was reduced to one of the rotten seats. He took his seat, edging a little of his robe under a leg in order to keep it from wobbling. Just then the Moiser boy made his way up and started with his issues. "Hasn't this already been taken care of?" he drawled at the lad. "If you'd been listening, you'd hear that Professor Branxton has said to write home to your parents if you are so upset about it. Until then, return to your table and deal."

"Thanks Proffesor" said Jose "Then he went upto the headmaster and started to talk about how unfair this situation was "I think what you are doing is so unfair, I think the way you are treat the staff as well as hufflepuffs and gryffindors are so unfair"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Mario Ingles | Mario strolled through the doors into the hall, glancing about at the sights that greeted him. There were quite a large number of students present, as well as many of the professors. He hoped he wasn't late. He didn't think so, though.
And there were so many boys already clamoring around the table! Oh this was not good at all. They needed to be shown a bit of discipline. There was a certain way to go about things and this was not the way. They needed order.
Stepping to the table, he carefully seated himself, glancing with distaste at the flowery print on the table.
What disrespect! He thought, glancing around at the boys. He never would speak to a professor in that manner.
