Angela smiled once more as Sophie excitedly informed her that this new staff member had once been a very student at Hogwarts. "How wonderful! It must be great to see students come back to join the staff."

She turned towards the professor. "Angela Kohan, librarian." She introduced herself.

"That's great." Angela smiled. "Magical Creatures are wonderful. Do you have a favorite?" She inquired.

"Ah...yes." She murmured. "It is a shame. I have to say that I'll attempt to give this new school a change, but I've always been fond of Hogwarts. It's a bit of a struggle to have to adapt." She replied in an equally low voice.

Glancing off to the side as a student approached Sophie, Angela straightened up, her gaze moving towards the house tables.

"I love the billywigs... such fascinating creatures. They're from Australia. I worked there for a few year in a Magical Creature refuge." She said. "Exotic, dangerous and exciting creatures have always sparked my interest as well." She laughed.

"So you're the Librarian? I remember countless of visits to the library when I was at Hogwarts. Although I have to admit, I didn't go to read." She winked.

Sophie nodded at Angela's comment about Hogwarts. She made a mental note to finish this conversation when students couldn't overhear them.


Sophie was a little shell shocked at the student response. She took the letter and started to read it. Her heart went out to the girl, however Sophie knew nothing about muggle custody cases. "Well I guess she can." Sophie said, more to herself. "I'm sorry to hear this Edeline. Unfortunately, I am the Care of Magical Creatures Professor. I don't know how the muggle system works. All I can suggest is for you to talk to your parents. Explain to them what you want, how this will affect you and your schooling. I'm sure they'll hear you out." She said, giving her a comforting smile.

Xylia picked up a napkin and began waving it back and forth like a fan. "The stench is disgusting. Can you go back to where you belong before someone gets sick?" she sneered at the girl.

Edeline face fell even more as she listened to the professor. She was lost in a sea of confusion. This was the main reason why she hated having a lawyer for a mother. She gave the nice professor another sad smile. "Well thank you for the suggestion. I'll have to give it a try." she said sadly as she tried to think of way to get back at her crazy mother. "But thanks for listening." she added with another smiled as she turned to walk away.

"Care of Magical Creatures? Wow! That's a fascinating subject, one you don't see many witches teach anymore. Very impressive. And you still have all your limbs I see, you must be very talented." Callie laughed. "I'll have to stop by your class one day and watch . . . from a distance of course. I'm not one for getting too close to Magical Creatures, I've ummm... never had much luck with them. I was once bitten by an angry hippogriff, let me tell you . . . after I hexed that thing it never bit anyone again." Callie blushed, realizing she had probably shared a bit too much. "But that was a long time ago. I'm much more disciplined now. I hardly ever use hexes, unless they're really needed..... well hardly ever." Callie began to trail off, smirking at the thought of herself hexing a student she might lose patience with. "I guess I'll have to work on that bit" Callie thought to herself, realizing she was going to have to be a lot more patient with these students then she normally was, she couldn't imagine the Headmistress would be too happy with her if she hexed a student. Then again, this wasn't Hogwarts, perhaps a little hex wouldn't hurt...."


Callie was lost in her thoughts when she heard a voice down the table address her. Looking down the table, Callie smiled, "It's very nice to meet you Terpsa . . . Terpsi Core... erm Miss St. Toussaint." Callie could feel her cheeks burning as she stumbled over the woman's name. "I'm Calista. Calista Hawkins, but please call me Callie. I'll be teaching the girls Charms classes this term. Is this your first time teaching, as well?"

"Why thank you very much. Callie smile as she reached out to take a cookie. I'm Calista Hawkins, the new Charms Professor. Please, call me Callie. So I can't go asking about the secret ingredients? It is safe to eat I hope," Callie asked with a wide grin.

Callie caught a glimpse of a napkin waving in the air from the corner of her eye, as a fellow Professor began to complain about a student stinking. "And the drama begins . . . " Callie laughed to herself. "Perhaps I should stop by her office and teach her a little charm to help her with that sensitivity of smell she seems to be having trouble with." Callie said to herself as she shook her head at the woman.

Somehow, and she wasn't sure how, she wound up with a few cookies in hand and one in her mouth. And by the time she realized it, half of the one in her mouth was already eaten. "Oh, where did these come from?" Looking around she managed to catch sight of a plate of cookies. "Oh that's where!" She waved Sophie down. "Thank you for the cookies!"

"What?" Rae perked up at the voice of one of her most familiar students and she offered a vague smile. "I'm afraid not, Miss Trelawney. You will be interacting with your former House Mod. She is acting as Head of House... indefinitely."

Lainey made it a point to always be late. Well, not... on purpose, but she rarely was anywhere on time. She did make it to this feast on time though. She had her paper bag of food, as per usual. ....And by the looks of her "chair" she was going to have to start bringing her seat as well.

"You pick this seat out all for me, Rae?" Lainey laughed and took her splintery, three legged stool that barely put her close enough to the table. "Like.. being at the kiddy table again."

Her attention was drawn to her friend and she offered a wan smile. "You honestly think at this point that I would have anything to do with the decorations in this school? You ought to stop by my quarters and witness the horrific huge bowls of potpourri. I swear Clara knew I was allergic when she ordered them put there."

Rae tapped her fingers against the table before rising abruptly. Might as well get this over with. "Attention, ladies! I'm happy to have you all back here at Hog... at Belle's School of Magic for Witches. I hope you had a lovely summer, and I hope you'll have an even lovelier school year."

"I'm sure you all have seen that things are not as they were last term, and I apologize for how abrupt this all is. I assure you that I would not have separated myself and my daughters from their father willingly, and we are working steadily to see if..." She glanced at the Ministry-provided professors. It was certain that if she said a negative word about her brother and the school that she'd be replaced, and then who would stand up for the rights of these girls.

"We are working for your good," she finished lamely. "I want to remind you that the professors of old," she stressed that, "are on your side and will be here for whatever needs you have. I'd like to welcome many new staff members too numerous to name, and I'd like to wish you luck this term."

"I DO regret to inform you that we are being held to the strictest standards as professors, and this causes a rather unfortunate need to deal harshly with any rule breakers. You can be unhappy about this turn of events, but rules must be followed to the letter and you must be respectful to the staff. The Minister has decreed that suspensions from the school are justified for outlandish behavior. PLease do not make me be the villain in this... event." She sighed. "And now... eat."

She sat rather too hard and pressed her face to Lainey's shoulder.

"Oh, really? I had no idea they were from Australia. That is quite interesting. It does seem like a fascinating creature...to think a simple sting can cause someone to levitate and can change the emotions. It's definitely something." She commented.

Chuckling, she nodded. "I am, and I do love my books. I don't know what I would do if I were unable to have access to a book. I don't think it would be a pretty picture."

Knowing that it would be better to speak about the situation later, Angela settled down once more.

It was not long after that the Headmistress rose to make her speech. It was one, Angela knew, that she did not wish to give. This entire Ministry infiltration was rather ridiculous in her opinion. Hogwarts was a fine school and always had been.

With a frown, she shook her head to herself. She would hate to do that to the children, but she also knew that if she didn't, she wouldn't like the consequences. Why couldn't things go back to how they were before?

"Ridiculous." She murmured to the Magical Creatures professor. "This is completely tearing her apart."

Reese walked up ot the Staff Table and looked around.She spotted Professor Shackleton and walked over to her.Reese handed her the note Professor Maximus Vindictus had given here."This is for you,"she said.

Amelia had stopped midway from the corner of the room where the badgers were shoved into to listen to the Headmistress speak her traditional start-of-term speech. At least some thing were still somewhat of the same, she thought grateful that little bit of consistency.

As Rae finished her speech up with a 'go eat', the seventh year shook her head slightly. Still not hungry. No appetite in this mess; maybe she could persuade Kohan to get her some food without having to sit on splinters. Doubtful, but one could hope.

She finished walking the rest of the way up to the staff table, debating which one to talk with first. Finally she stopped in front of one of the ladies who appeared quite unfamiliar. "Hello there ma'am. My name is Amelia Rose and I just wanted to meet some of the new staff members here," she said, acting as polite as possible.

Wystan looked up and shuddered at the words the girl spoke. "You think that you're going to get some bonus points for introducing yourself to us? Think again, sweetheart," she smiled coldly and made it a point to memorize the girl's name. Amelia Rose. Oh, Amelia. You need to watch yourself this term.

Dion leaned back softly in her chair as she watched the interaction between Wystan and the hufflepuff girl. "I think it's going to a bit more than a hello to impress us, kiddo. Much more." Dion smiled a sweet smile, but with a cold touch. These children had so much to learn.

Oh no! Why did it have to be them who I walked up to. Completely the rudest and toughest new professors ever! Amelia thought, closing her eyes momentarily: just breathe... Opening her eyes she smiled at the not one, but TWO ladies that spoke to her, rather coldly too. "No, I don't intend on bonus points, ma'am," she responded, keeping her tone neutral. "But I do intend on getting to know the new professors as I always do every year, so why should this year be any different?" she offered up, just because there were no boys and two schools... honestly, they underestimate the friendliness of badgers.

The seventh year sighed looking from the fake, pretend smiles sewn across the faces of both women. "However, you two obviously are obviously not interested in building that same rapport with the students, so perhaps this was a mistake coming back here for my final year..." she trailed over, and made to walk away, but didn't remove her eyes from either of the pair.

Dion giggled lightly, turning her head to Wystan. "You hear that? Apparently we don't want to get to know the students. You shouldn't judge, dear child, it might get you into trouble," she grinned as she watched Xy for a reaction.

"Oh, so you think that an education is a mistake," Xylia mimicked in a baby's voice. She smirked and cleared her throat. "You falsely accuse us of not being interested in building a rapport with the students. Tell me, Miss Rose. Do you play Quidditch?"

Michelle was completely oblivious to the wear on the headmistress. She clapped, smiling. "Very good, Headmistress! Oh, I'm so glad we can finally eat!" she said, even as she finished off another cookie, with one still in hand.

Argyle appears in the Great Hall right behind Mistress Rae's chair. Argyle sees that the Great Hall is different in this school too. Argyle doesn't know what's Argyle did wrong to be exiled from Hogwarts. Argyle has always been a good house elf. Argyle walks up to Mistress Rae's chair, and pulls on her robes hoping to get her mistress's attention.

Amelia sighed, deciding perhaps that she should continue to pursue talking to these women. Even if it was probably a mistake - they were going to be her teachers for a whole year. "Oh? So you think that I judge?" she pressed on the first woman. "Only on those who don't tell me their names..." She winked, before turning as the second woman spoke.

She was mocking her!? The nerve of her! "No. I do not think education is a mistake, but I do find it to be quite annoying when I approach the staff table to introduce myself and neither of you have dared to state your own names," she said, rather firmly. But then the last word caught her attention far better than anything else either woman had said in the span of minutes. "Of course. I've played quidditch since before I started school," she smiled, back to her polite but enthusiastic tone. "Actually, I am the new Captain for my house team."

Ashley sees a Hufflepuff girl already up here and walks near her. She looks at the proffesors. "Hi" Ashley says politely " I'm Ashley" and continued to look down the table.

"Displaying a lack of respect towards two professors - five points from Hufflepuff," Wystan said cooly. "I'm being quite generous, you know, considering that I've replaced that half-wit jock. Since you are quite insistent on knowing who we are, I guess that I'll humor you this one time. This is Miss Dion who tends to the school grounds and I'm Madam Wystan, your Flying Instructor." A cold smile followed her last two words.

Ashley heard the proffesor take points away and turned and looked at her in shock then turned to the other girl
"why'd she do that"Ashley asked unbelieveing thenturned to the professor
"What'd she do?"

Jane sees a friend of hers, Ashley, walking towards the head table towards some irritataed looking new teachers. She decides to go say hello to her friend, and the new teachers. Hey ash!" she says enthusiastically. "Oh sorry, how rude of me," she says, looking to the professors, "I'm Jane, Jane Morgan, a new slytherin. I'm so excited to start classes with all of you."

Ashley still shocked by the loss of points turns to Jane
"Hey sorry my house just lost points.... Already!" Ashley said irritated.
"Whats up with you" Ashley said turning back to the proffesors as Jane stepped up beside her

Dion folded her hands together and leaned forward onto the table. "So you wish to know my name? Aw, too bad, you're out of luck today. I just really don't feel like telling you my name. Shucks, huh? It a "because I can" kind of thing, mademoiselle." Who knew playing with these students would be so much fun? "You should try asking me every alternate monday, wednesday, and friday of every second month. I may just tell you."

OH. That kid did not just wink at her. PLEASE, nobody, not even some kid, could pull off a graceful wink like Adrienne Dion. Dion was the winking queen. Psh, amateurs...

Her smile returned as Xy went ahead and introduced her to this Rose kid, but her smile faltered quickly at an unsually loud noise. There were kids. More kids. Did none of them know the meaning of EATING? Like really, they were young and growing, surely they wanted to eat to. Dion knew that she definitely wanted peace while eating.

"You two," she pointed to the newly arrived hufflepuff and slytherin. "Come here," she said in her sweetest voice. "Let's see, that'll be 5 off hufflepuff and 5 off slytherin for lack of proper manners. You don't just want up to a table and start chatting loudly. Now I suggest quickly saying what you want in a ladylike tone and then returning to your tables."

She turned back to the Rose child, "was there anything else you wanted, dear?"

"Mine lost points too. The year's barely started and some genius has already cost us 70 points!" Jane says irritably.

"Sorry ma'am. I didn't mean to disturb you. We'll just head back to our tables.." Jane says, grabbing Ashley's elbow and turning away. "You can come to mine if you want. We have pretty comfy seats!" she says in a low whisper.
