"Come in! Come in! Come in, boys! Welcome to Divination.", The Divination Professor greeted warmly. "Today we will be examining the Tarot and other forms of Cartomancy." He was feeling right eager to be teaching and he anxiously waited as the students entered and took their seats. "Please, have a seat. Class will begin shortly."

Will entered the classroom and sat in the middle of the class. "Hello, Barry..." He said, smiling, as he drew out his parchment and quill set.

Cale walked in just as the professor began to talk about the upcoming lesson. "Hello professor," he said happily, taking his normal seat near the back. Tarot? Meh, he had NO idea what that was. Maybe he should have reviewed a bit more before the lesson...

Ray made it in the classroom. He looked at the professor smiled and said "Hello professor!" before sitting down and waiting for the class to begin.

Divination. Aaaawesome.

Miles walked into the classroom trying to seem eager. He may not have been the best at Divination, but he was the best at divination anyway.
He would like to be. It seemed fun. And magical, and not ... boring.

He took a seat near the middle, and put his bag down. You'd expect him to go to the front. But ... then he would have to look up at the teacher.

Ryan walked into class. He had been looking forward to this class. Kapoor was his new favorite professor after the run-in in the office. Ryan had developed a great amount of respect for the man...and it helped that he was a former Ravenclaw.

"Hello, Professor," Ryan said, putting a bit more umph into his happy greeting.

Cale was busy tucking his flying tiger lilly which he had just chased across the courtyard into his button hole as he walked into the room. He "pinned" it into position with a quick sticking charm and then slid onto the seat next to Ryan. "Hey you," He said nudging the Ravenclaw captain. "You disappeared in the greenhouse the other day, thought that fanged geranium got you." He dropped his bookbag onto the floor next to his feet. Cale himself looked a bit ragged and if he were to roll up his pants legs, his shines would be a nice purple color from running into a bench outside.

Ryan turned to find his house Prefect plopping down next to him. He smiled to the boy, who he frankly thought was a bit off his rocker, but wouldn't dare say so. "Oh...hey!" he said. "Umm...I was watering my plant. The Fanged Geranium did try to snap at me a few times. Good thing I'm quick on my feet." He danced his feet around under the desk to emphasize his point.

"Yes," Cale said watching the weird quidditch captain tap-dance in his seat. "You're a bonafide twinkle toes." He pulled his book out of his bag and tossed it on the table then began looking for his quill. "You didn't have to dot he pollination assignment like the rest of them?" He couldn't find his quill and picked up his bag to look for it. He shook a few times.

Ryan's hand shot up in the air. He had been reading up for this. "Cartomancy is a form of divination using cards. I would go as far as saying that Tarot is the most widely-known version of Cartomancy."

Cale raised a hand, "Cartomancy is another form of Divination that involves reading cards. I'm guessing we'll be studying the Tarot cards today, since that is one of the more popular methods of Carthomancy," he added.

"Sir? Cartomancy is divination using a deck of cards. Apart from Tarot, one can also interpret regular playing cards or other pictorial cards that are not based on the same structure as Tarot- collectively these other decks are known as Oracle decks or Cartomantic decks."

"Cartomancy? I believe it's fortune-telling or divination using a deck of cards. Tarot cards are the most often used in cartomancy, though a standard deck of playing cards would work, too. I know those are also used on occasion, but I figure you mean tarot cards," Jason said.

Barry took long because hehad to look in his book he didn`t know what it meant but he put up his hand and said "Cartomancy is another form of Divination that involves reading cards. "

The Professor got out little wooden boxes and used a simple charm to clean his hands as he spoke to the class. "Before we begin reading from a deck of cards, particularly the Tarot, it is customary to cleanse the hands. Would anyone like to venture a guess as to why?"

Ryan raised his hand. "My best guess would be superstition. Perhaps uncleansed hands are thought to produce inaccurate and impure readings?" He wasn't really sure of anything, but he was making his best guess.

Miles raised his hand and gave a guess. "Because it wouldn't be ... accurate?" He said.

"Or maybe you might get the cards dirty." He mumbled, it was a good answer. He thought anyway. He looked down at his hands, no VISIBLE dirt, but he didn't want inacurrate reading.

"The reading of the Tarot is more exact when the energy flow between the deck and the hands is strong; If the hands are clean there is less to block the energy flow, resulting in a more precise read. There is a practical side to this also; Your deck will have less wear on them if all parties who handle them have clean hands."

And apparently its manly to have clean hands. Nicholai made a slight face at the thought of Lord Borr, before charming his own hands clean.
