Easing up next to Helios Krissy brought he jar of fire with her. "You're scarily talented, you know that?" she laughed. "Look I got it with the first try! Me mum would be so proud! Of course, I'm not nearly as talented as you, but this is a start. Though when I come into my own I won't be such a show off" she chuckled. Krissy suddenly felt silly for thinking Helios would care about her small success when he could juggle fire. Water was more of her thing to control anyhow. she sighed.

Isla was still stumped, she turned to Ryan, "Hey Ryan... Can you show me, umm, how? I don't get it..." She smiled at him hopefully; she was usually best in class; asking for someone to help her wasn't something she did often.
"Would you mind?" She pointed to his own jar which had a flickering blue flmae inside it, "You seem to have gotten the jist of it..."

Kayla took out another piece of parchment and began to write again;

Dear Kristyn,

I sincerely want to apologise for snapping at you in DADA before. I truly didn't mean it, I haven't had the best start to term and all these bad things seem to be happening to me. I really hope you didn't take offence, I was really hoping we could be friends. Please take these sugar quills as a gesture of friendship.

Kayla

Kayla folded up the parchment and lightly tossed it onto Kristyn's desk.

"Oh," he said. "Well, if the professor doesn't mind, I'll try to help you."

He grabbed his own jar. Well, more of knocked it over (again) and caught it before it rolled off (again).

"Umm, well, I just stuck my wand in the jar like this."

He poked the tip of his wand into the jar. The flames licked his wand, and he winced. Oh yeah, he remembered. These flames shouldn't harm my wand. Thank goodness!

"So then I just concentrated really hard on heat and fire. I thought of the fireplace in the common room, actually. Just think of a gentle, yet powerful fire. Imagine it balling up and turning a brilliant blue. Now cast the spell. Say 'Inferell' rather firmly. That should do the trick, I hope."

Even more blue flames shot out of his wand and were added to the already growing orb in his jar.

He raised his hand and asked, "Professor, how would we, umm...dispose of these? Well, maybe not dispose, but just make them go away?"

He relaxed and sat against the back of his chair. These must have cushioning charms on them, he pondered. They're MUCH more comfortable than those hard Muggle-school chairs.

Krissy looked at the folded parchment on her desk and then up to Kayla questioningly. Opening it she read the kind letter. Krissy looked up at Kayla and smiled. She wasn't sure to trust Kayla since she heard around school she thought Krissy was competition for Helios. Deciding the girl was being sincere Krissy wrote back.
"Kayla,
It's alright, we all have hard days. That wasn't my best day either. I'm not a fan of sugar quills, but thank you so much for the kind offer. Of course I would love to be your friend.

folding the parchment once more Krissy tossed it back to Kayla.

Isla couldn't help but laugh as Ryan knocked over his jar, "Oops!" She made to grab it but he caught it first, "Oh right! So you actually have to picture fire in your mind?" Issy looked at her jar and imagined a little ball of pretty, blue fire in it, "Inferell!" She said in a sing-song voice, obviously you had to be very serious, "In-Fer-Ell!" She commanded the jar while jabbing it with her wand. A blue spark shot form her wand and scorched a little black mark on the table, "Uh-oh..." Issy bit her lip and squeezed her eyes shut, "Inferell." She said simply to the jar, whene she opened her eyes, alittle blue flame played inside of it, "YES!" She yelled and leapt over to RYan throwing her arms around him, she then realised what she was doing, "Ah-hem, well, um, sorry. Umm, thanks for showing me..." She trailed off, her cheeks bright red, "I'll just carry on, over here..."

"I dunno if you have to," he shrugged, "But it's what works for me."

After she successfully managed the blue beauty, he added, "And you too, apparently. Good job!"

He smiled encouragingly and was a bit shocked when she hugged him. "Yes...you're quite welcome. Well, keep up the excellent practicing!"

His voice trailed off as he headed back to his area of practice.

Kayla read Kristyn's letter and was upset that she didn't like her sugar quills. Can't I get anything right she thought. She wrote a reply another piece of parchment.


Kristyn,

I would love to talk to you perhaps after class as I have already been in trouble once for talking in this class. Sorry you don't like the sugar quills, I have chocolate frogs maybe they would be better.

She folded it up and floated it back to Krissy's desk.

Krissy smiled at Kayla and nodded she didn't want to send another note to her and possibly get caught by the professor landing both of them in trouble. She really hoped she hadn't offended the girl by refusing her kind gift. It was just that her mum had always yelled at her for sucking on pens and she had broken the habit years ago. She felt as if sucking on quills would be an insult to what her mother had taught her. Krissy felt horrid knowing Kayla was under the impression she had to give her candy to make up for the small incident. If they were going to be friends it should be based on it's own merits, not because of gifts given out of guilt.

Taylie picked up her jar and ran over to Kristyn. "Hey, look what I did. I was really scared but it worked. Hey you did it too, cool." She sat down near Kristyn and curiously began to watch Helios' antics.

Noticing where Taylie was looking Kristyn snickered. "Show off isn't he? Bloody brilliant, but a showoff." Kristyn's eyes shimmered as she spoke of Helios. shaking her head of all her daydreams she turned to Taylie. "How many tries did it take you to get the flame? "

"Amazingly it only took me two tries. I think the first time my problem was that I kinda closed my eyes so I knocked the jar over. That probably helped me get it the next time because I was more relaxed, I guess. Yeah, totally a showoff but it's really cool. If I was braver I would probably try it too." Taylie said leaning towards Kristyn, then glancing down at the note she said." Hey I if that girl gives you some chocolate frogs I want some, okay."

Krissy laughed at her friend. "I'm not taking her frogs, friendships aren't based on candy." reaching into her bag she pulled out a chocolate frog for Taylie and handed it to her. "Except for ours of course." Krissy said with a smile.
" It only took me one try, and I was shocked! I'd love to try Helios' trick, but I'm not very good with fire. Water is more my element."

"Thank the Gods of chocolate for creating this hopping, chocolatey treat." Taylie said accepting the treat. "Oh and thank you too, you are a gentlewoman and a scholar.'

Stifling a laugh Kristyn looked at Taylie near tears from suppressing her laughter. "You are so weird Taylie." picking up her jar of blue flame she watched it dance. "The way the fire moves reminds me of the ocean after a storm... but I don't think I've ever been near the ocean. `Cept when I was a bairn that is." Kristyn looked at Taylie perplexed. "D'yeh ever get the feeling yeh've forgotten a memory?" Blowing into the jar lightly Krissy watched the flames get smaller and then rise to their original height.

Taylie looked at Kristyn in shock, then said."Well I actually have had that
feeling, but one thing that I have never forgotten is that I have an accent, unlike you apparently. What just happened to your accent."

The blue flame highlighted Krissy's bright red cheeks. "Y'eh know, I `aven't the foggiest idea." Krissy giggled. "Um, I mean, I haven't got the foggiest idea." she said with her best British accent, which was quite pathetic. "I suppose it's jest me memories, though dad never listened when I spoke with me brogue. I never quite knew why I have one seen as I grew up in England. tis odd really." Looking over at Helios once more Krissy decided to sprinkle her flame with water and see what would happen. Pulling a bottle of water from her bag she poured a few drops over the flame and watched as it turned to steam before it even touched the bottom of the jar. "Wicked"

"Hmmm", Taylie said while looking intently at her flame." I know that it is waterproof, but I wonder if it gets really hot like normal fire. If I put part of the chocolate in there I wonder if it would melt." Snapping out of her reverie Taylie looked over at Kristyn," Maybe you picked up the accent from your mom, or maybe you were born somewhere other than England and then moved."

"Now now, don't go wastin' yer chocolate. Yeh'll regret it later when I run out of me supply...though I do have a case. I went a little mad when I was buying them,they are just so cool! I love the cards inside." She smiled. "Me mum told me she was visitin' her parents when she brought me to the world, so I was born in Ireland, but Mum swore we left when I was a wee bairn, not but seven days olde." looking at the flame Krissy wondered out-loud. "How d'yeh `spose they figgard this spell? I mean the magic is olde, but glass jars aren't."

"Maybe they used wooden boxes. Not the best way to contain fire, but it would do if the flame had to be conjured in a container." Helios spoke with his eyes on his flaming bubble that was gradually growing smaller as the water burned away, gently prodding it about with his wand tip.

Once the bluebell flame dwindled down to the size of a gumball, the attention seeking prince tossed it into his mouth using his wand. "Definitly an interesting spell. Simple, useful, fun."

He burped, a small gout of flame coming from his mouth. "Excuse me."

Now he was looking bashful.

Krissy rolled her eyes and giggled. "Boys are gross." she said to Taylie. "I'd never considered that y'eh could conjure this spell without a container though. Hmm interestin' too bad we can't practice over the summer or I'd go camping with my grandad and show him what I learned."Krissy said to both her friends.

Taylie looked over at Helios,"So if they conjured it in a box it must be a cool burning flame, right." She watched him playing with the flame when he burped fire she said, "Cute trick, and Eww."

Sam squinted in the blue light, he stepped forwards trying to find the glass jars and managed to trip over a chair. Picking himself up, an embarrassed smirk on his face, Sam found the box of jars and drew one from the box. Sam tried to find his way back to his desk, being much more careful and sat down.

He unscrewed the lid and pushed his feet far out in front of him. Now let's see... "Inferell!" he said forcefully his mind imagining the blue flame flickering in the jar. A great flare of blue light issued out his wand, hitting the bottom of the jar and flaming wildly.

Sam felt the heat on his face and quickly sat up straight, clasping the lid on the jar. He smirked silently, picking up the flame jar. He tapped the lid a few times and felt the lid tighten slightly.

Making a fist and knocking it against his chest, Helios belched a little plume of smoke before speaking. "It surely did not taste cool. Perhaps the bluebell flame was originally created to be conjured in a container that held water. It would explain its buoyancy." Holding a flat palm to his mouth, the prince attempted to smell his breath.

"I could be wrong. I do not know much about it. I just enjoy playing with the stuff." The boy with the golden hair smiled as he shrugged his shoulders.

"And here I thought you knew everything dear Prince." Krissy said sarcastically with a chuckle. "I'm kidding, don't take offense." She twirled her hair around her fingers looking at Helios' face. She had that odd feeling again. Like she had forgotten a memory. Trying to focus on the task at hand Krissy went on. "I guess we should ask the professor at the next chance we have. Though I do agree, this flame is mighty fun to play with." Krissy gave Helios a wide grin, a light blush rising on her pale cheeks.even when Helios was being a typical DISGUSTING boy, he was dreamy.
