| | |  DADA Lesson 2: Independent Study
It may be a big surprise to some that Professor Rae is holding class today, especially considering that her children have been taken from the school to places that are unknown. She's been spotted all over the school in tears, but here the door is open and the room is ready for class.
Once inside, however, you are quick to discover that Professor Rae is not holding class in the traditional sense. The desks are pushed back around the room, and there is a nothing of note... until you see the highly polished dark wood box sitting on Rae's desk. The lid is slightly ajar.
There is a note on the board:
Dark Creature Independent Study
Feel free to explore the Dark Creatures miniature collection bought for me several years ago. Each of the small figurines is a perfect working replica of a Dark Creature. Take time to look them over and take lots of notes. Using your notes and your textbook, please list the following for three of the creatures:
1) Name the creature
2) List the MoM rating
3) Give a physical description (as full as possible)
4) List one possible way to defeat this creature (as full as possible).
Extra credit if you include a drawing or sketch (you must do this YOURSELF).

As you push back the lid to the box, you find 12 velvet lined compartments. Many of them are empty, obviously holding animals you aren't going to have to deal with today. Of the ones that are filled, you see the following creatures:
* A spider-like creature with a thick furry body and eight hairy legs
* A long acid green snake that keeps clicking it's fangs at you
* A fairy-like creature with dark hair and shiny, beetle-like wings
* A creature that looks like a monkey with scales
* A tortoise with a jewelled shell
* A winged creature with the head of an eagle and the body of a horse

Ariana noticed a Ravenclaw boy was having some kind of problem. Deciding to be helpful and already knowing the creatures she got up, taking her bag with her. "Hey" she said with a tired smile. "Need some help, perhaps we could work together?" she asked, sitting down beside him and taking out her stuff again.

Ariana looked at the girl who had asked for help a smile appearing on her face. "Sure." she said turning towards the girl. "I'm happy to help." she added with a wink. Her mother had tuaght her to be respectful of others, and this poor girl looked nervous. Ah, to be a first year again she thought with a chuckle.

A loud cry sounds in the room, sounding just like that of a baby who's lost it's candy. The cry continues, and loud enough that many students cover their ears. Since there is no professor in the room, a few students hurry to the door, the cry continues, and one of the students catches a glimpse of a person hurrying down the hall with a small bundle in their arms. And then the sound is far enough away that it disapeers.* | |

Ariana had ben working hard on her assignment, helping the girl beside her with a smile. Suddenly she felt a strange emotion invade her mind and looked up, shrugging before turnnig back to the assignment. Then she headr a cry... a loud cry. Covering her ears, she looked startled as eveyoe around her looked around.
Ariana jumped up, her head almost colliding with the first years. She shook her head and bolted up; where had that coem from she asked herself with a gulp. Standing now, she left her bags as she caught a glimpse of someone, or something and ran to the door, her heart pounding in her chest.
She stood at the door, her heart leaping fear in her eyes as she could have sworn there was a bundle in the persons arms. Without thining about it, she left her DADA stuff on the floor and goes off to the corridor. He figure is long gone and Ari blinks back tears. She had been so close to finding answers.
Without thinking about getting into trouble, without bothering to say where she's gone, Ari took a deep breath and began walking towards the Headmistress' office.

Professor Light hurries to the classroom and recognizes walking outside.
"Did you see something Ari? I could hear cries from my classroom too." PRofessor Light turned to the DADA classroom, clearly they were working on a teacherless assignment. What bad timing.
"Um, hello everyone!" Professor Light started nervously. "Just, um, keep working on your assingment, I assure you everything is under control!"
Professor Light turned to Ari, who seemed very set on seeing the Headmistress. "Do me a favor, I'm trying to teach a class right now, but let her know I found this..." Professor Light handed the girl the block. She knew Arianna from classes, and trusted she would deliver it. "Thank you very much. I'll catch up with you later..." Professor Light smiled and patted the girl on the shoulder, hurrying back to her own classroom before anymore students, babies, professors, whoever disapeered.
