As you enter the room, Professor Maline has made a circle out of her benches, and beanbags, and in the middle of it is a large cage with a small creature with a light in it's hand. It seems whispy, and like it only has one leg.
You notice that Ophelia's arm is in plaster, and she gestures for you to take a seat, a warm smile upon her face. Cookies and Juice are beside every seat. | |

"Two points too all of you that said smoke, Hinkypunks can also be made from steam. More commonly however, it's smoke." Professor Maline said as the beam of light from her wand infuritated the Hinkypunk further.
"Hinkypunks are dark creatures, you're right Ryan, two points, however they aren't dark in the way you'd expect. Hinkypunks like to live on marshes, and lead you astray. The light you see in the hand? That's the thing that can kill you. If you ever find yourself on a marsh in the dark, and you see a light, you simply don't follow it. Hinkypunks will lead you to a pool of water or mud where you'd drown." She explained, shocked by how morbid she'd made it sound. "Any reasons why? No right or wrong answers just your imagination!" She smiled at them all.

To her, every creature was beautiful in its own way, even the little flobberworms. Though she thought hinkypunks very intriguing, and was glad she had decided to come to this lesson.

She inquired, blinking slowly a few times. "They seem almost like the living dead," she mumbled under her breath, absolutely fascinated with the creatures. "Maybe they're attracted to our skin?" She thought aloud, winding her fingers through her hair, remembering of a story of a nymph she had been told as a child.

Mallory made a mental note. When in a Marsh or anyplace that's like a marsh...don't follow strange lights...got it. She wondered why Hinkypunks would do such things, luring people then drowning them. Looking at the Professor, he said "I would think that, similarly with most of the magical creatures, Muggles don't really know they exist, and merely attribute the drowning to the stupidity or accident-prone...ness of the Muggle in question who had died." He thought that was a pretty good answer. Then, he added hastily, "So, if they don't eat, how long do they live? Or, since they're made of smoke or steam, how long can they stay intact before diffusion, or in the case of the steam, osmosis, affects them?"
Then, noticing the Professor's arm again, he asked "Professor, do you want me to go get something from the hospital wing for your arm? Your look like you're in a lot of pain."

Kimberly let out a nervous giggle as the matter between her and Ryan was solved, she laughed even more when it seemed like he was trying to make the worlds biggest smile."You should see yourself right now, its pretty funny!" but she was relieved as she could feel her cheeks turning back to their normal light pink. Raising her hand she said to her professor "well the muggles wouldn't be aware of them, so when they are led by the light and perish then people count their deaths as accidents."

Ryan beamed at the professor. He was really starting to like this class. Even if the Hinkypunks were rather...evil creatures.
Then he mused over the new question for a second. "well, considering they seem to like dark places, would a Patronus work? It kind of seems like an extreme method. Or...oooh! Is there any way to steal its light, or somehow make the light go out? Or you could...confund them, but then they just might lead someone else to their doom. | |
