Sugarplum's Candy Displays

Just beyond the door to the lovely candy shop in Diagon Alley lays shelves among shelves of different types of wizarding candy imaginable. Everything is labeled, so it shouldn't be too hard to find what you're looking for. There comes a time when someone picks up way too much candy than they can carry. No worries! A stack of baskets have been placed near the last shelf on the right, and anybody is welcome to use them if they need something to put their candy in.

Some items have been placed on the very high shelf. If you happen to need something from the top shelf and can't reach it, don't hesitate to notify the shopkeeper. He's more than happy to help you. It's better to get help than to try to reach the candy and make a mess! If you do happen to make a mess, make sure you fix it. Though the shopkeeper would have seen it already, he'd like to see that you didn't leave precious candy on the floor. He might be behind the counter, but his excellent sight allows him to see every single thing going on. Mhhm.

Stopping at the candy shop at least once during summer was a must for Henry. Even if he was able to stop at Hogsmeade several times during the school year, he always did his best to make a stockpile of his favorites during a trip to Sugarplum's. Plus, he liked to try to find at least one new type of candy to try and possibly even become a new favorite.

Sure, he liked lemondrops and grabbed a good amount of those to stash in the basket he found necessary to carry. But of course chocolate frogs were what he was really after. Hopefully they had a large supply of those, or even some in the back, because he was planning on getting more than his share, and he generously helped himself to them as he started piling a large amount in his basket.

Chocolate frogs.

THAT much was obvious.

And while the 11-year-old blonde did not have THAT much of his allowance left to spend after already paying Magical Menagerie a visit he was not going to miss the chance to extend his Chocolate Frog card collection. Just as long as he did not end up with another Harry Potter. He already had about ten of the Chosen One - clearly an accurate name even now - and was still missing plenty of the original 101 cards. He hadn't even managed to collect all four of the Hogwarts Founders yet!

Marching his way to the display, Derf's eyes widened when he saw someone else was already there and taking half the display with him.

"Heeeeeeeeeeeey," he piped up, standing up on his tiptoes and tapping the older boy purposefully with his finger. "Don't take the whole dis-s-splay." Pause. ".....pleas-se."

Now THIS was where Kane had REALLY wanted to go.

Sure, getting books and all was fun, and it was getting him SUPER PSYCHED for school, but CANDY was his true love in life. Well, one of many. Sugar in general was pretty rad. One of the best parts about being a foreigner was that you got to experience fun new candy for the first time - and he was totally going to take FULL advantage of this opportunity.

SUGAR QUILLS? JELLY SLUGS? CHOCOLATE FROGS? Where did he start?!

All of it. Yup. He was just going to get all of it.

Grabbing a basket, he started to grab handfuls of each type of candy, throwing them into his basket. He'd worry about having to explain the huge bill to his mom later...

For Stephie!!!!!

Once Olivia had stepped inside this shop, her eyes widened as big as saucers. "So Simon hadn't been joking about how amazing this place is!" she said, mostly to herself, as she walked down a candy filled aisle. This was all so... so...

She struggled to find the words.

Excessive? She paused, wincing at that. No, no.. Well it was excessive but not in a bad way... Merlin. She was starting to sound like Simon. But it wasn't excessive. It was a good kind of excessive. Gob-smacking? She sighed, wondering if that was even a word. Gob-smacked was.... but gob-smacking? That just sounded painful but it seemed alright. Olivia continued to walk past the aisles, stopping occasionally to check out the different varieties of candy that Sugarplums had. A smile tugged at her lip when she found the word. Impressive! Magnificent. Yes.

"I can't believe a place like this exists," she said, in awe, as she stood in the middle of the aisle.

It was that time of year already? Alex had been graduated for two terms now, but Natalia couldn't help but keep the candy stash tradition going. She hadn't invited him to go this year though. They were doing much better, but she didn't want to push it. She adored her friend, but she was now focusing on herself and not putting any more burden onto them. So this year she went to the candy shop alone. That way she wasn't giving the candy stash tradition to anyone else.

Walking into the shop she looked around and took a deep breath. She loved the smell of this shop. Grabbing a basket she headed to the chocolate frogs first. They were her favorites so of course she needed plenty of those. Noticing a younger child grabbing handfuls of candy she couldn't help but laugh.

"You might want to slow down there." She wasn't sure his family would like him have that much candy and then there was the fact that if he went to the register would he have enough to pay and she would feel bad if he had to go put it all back, well kind of feel bad. It might be entertaining to watch.

Looking back to the shelf she grabbed the sugar quills. It was NEWT year which meant she'd be nervously chewing on those while studying.

At first, Kane didn't realize that someone was talking to him, but once he did, he turned to the VERY PRETTY older girl and grinned. "Don't worry, dude, I've got 11 years of sugar eating experience backing me up. One less than my age, because you know - no teeth when you're that young," he rambled, continuing to stuff things into his basket.

He pointed to the quills and then held out his basket with a grin. "Mind tossing a few of those in there for me? Please?"

Carissa was in awe of Diagon Alley. Everywhere she turned her brain was processing like a mile a minute. As she made her way to the candy store because come on, who could resist candy? She beamed when she saw all the displays and was wondering why couldn't a place like this existed closer to where she lives. She was checking out the shelves and was wondering which candy pieces she could bring back home. She picked some candies and she heard a girl murmuring to herself. Should she intrude. Of course she should. She turned head towards the girl (Olivia) who was sharing the same reaction.

"I was thinking the same thing matter of fact.." she added while examining her jar. "I mean if this place was close to me, I would be here everyday..." She meant that to. "Some of these candies have the strangest yet cutest names.." she said examining their labels. She was used to the muggle names since she was still going to Ilvermony but she was transferring to Hogwarts next year.

Hadley~

The candy display at Sugarplums had always been Mason's favourite place to be in Diagon Alley so it was no surprise to see the Ravenclaw filling his basket with some of the candies.

He was currently standing in front of the chocolate frogs, wondering if he should buy one or not. They were rather expensive....and after his school supply shopping he did not have much left.

The buy one or not to buy one. That is the question.

It was a joyous moment when Hadley realized that, yes, she can have sweets. She had given up on the idea of training herself to be an animagus, and decided she'd wait until she was old enough to be trained by someone that knew what they were doing. That might be this year, or it might be next year.

Either way, she wasn't training now, and had gone way to long without sweets. That meant one thing: splurge. Big time. She had lost time to make up for and really she only had a short window to make it up.

Humming Aerosmith's Dream On softly to herself, Hads threw a few more licorice wands into her basket and rounded the corner. Oooh! Chocolate Frogs! Yes, she couldn't forget about those.

Hadley made her way over to the display and took a few off the shelf. She didn't look at the boy standing beside her examining the rows of chocolate frog packets, but struck up a conversation anyway. "I remember the first time I had one of these. Scared the bejeezus out of me when it leapt out of the box."

She turned and looked at the boy for the first time and was surprised to find she recognized him. He was a Ravenclaw, few years ahead of her..."Oh, hey! Uh, Mason, right?"

Mason decided to buy one chocolate frog. Just one! He grabbed a package and placed it in the basket with the other candies. It looked lonely though and the sixth year hesitated before grabbing another one and putting it in the the basket as well, feeling a bit guilty but left it there all the same.

It was at that moment he realised that Hadley was talking to him and not the frogs she was looking at and he raised his eyebrow. "You didn't know the chocolate frog would try to escape?" wasn't that common knowledge?

"What? Oh yeah im Mason" he knew who she was of course. If there was one thing he was good in it was remembering names and faces. "But you did catch the chocolate frog back then right?" he continued. Losing a frog was the worst, perhaps that was why there were collectors cards in the packages. So you wouldnt have bought the candy for nothing.

Hadley shifted her weight from side to side, then grabbed two more and tossed them into her basket. She was going get so sick if she tried to eat it all tonight.

"I am going to share these with my sister. Without warning her. Should be good for a laugh." There was a devilish glint in her eye that the Professors of Hogwarts knew all too well.

Mason. Yay, she got it right. It would have been embarrassing if she had been wrong. And a little insulting to him, she imagined.

"No, of course I didn't." Both her tone and the amused look she gave Mason suggested this should be common sense. "I mean, muggle candie doesn't usually move on its own. It just melts while you are eating it." She shook her head, amused now by the memory. "Actually, I screamed and ducked as it flew at me." Merlin, that felt like another lifetime all together. Her first year at Hogwarts, learning all about the magical world for the first time.

Now, this world was her normal. Her ordinary. No longer new and exotic, but still so very exciting.

"So, how is your summer going?"

Olivia turned her head to the person that spoke to her (Clarissa) and smiled softly, nodding in agreement. When the other girl spoke she noticed that the girl had a different accent. "Close to you? Where are you from?" asked Olivia in her own Australian accent. She was intrigued thoroughly by meeting another international student. "My brother went to school at Hogwarts and always spoke about this shop. I used to go to Beauxbatons and this year, I'm transferring into Hogwarts as a fourth year." She nodded at the girl before glancing at some of the names of the candies. The other girl was RIGHT. They did have cute names. The candies also were all different sorts of colours and shapes. It was fantastic. So much more fantastic than the muggle candy shops that she was used too. She made a note to pick her brother up some candies as she was, sometimes, a good sister. She paused, blushing a slightly shade of pink, as she remembered that she had forgotten to introduce herself. "I'm Olivia by the way. Olivia Holden."

And yup, he had been right after hearing her say muggle candy. "They don't?" he asked, genuinely interested in this. He only grew up with wizarding candies. "That's ......interesting"

Chocolate frogs were his favorite as well as that of most of his friends, but he did want to leave enough room in his basket for other sweets as well as leave at least a reasonable amount for other shoppers.

The fifteen year old paused in mid-grab as he felt a tap on his back and a voice of protest. Turning, he gave a small smile to the younger boy. “Oh, I wasn’t going to take all of them. They are my favorite, but I know everyone else likes them too." He glanced down at his basket. Yep, he probably had enough of those. He needed to get some other things as well. "There's still at least half the display," he added with a grin. "Plus I bet they have more in the stockroom." It'd do them well to keep a large stockpile as they'd probably sell out quickly otherwise.

"You want this one?" He offered the one still in his hand to the boy.

Well...one could never be TOO sure of these things. Hence why he had asked. But there was a small smile of relief on Derf's face nonetheless when the older boy confirmed that he was not going to take everything. Not a greedy gator after all.

"No fanks," he replied with a spritely shake of the head. "You already touched it." Not that he was a germaphobe or anything. There was just a process to selecting chocolate frogs when he was spending his own parent gifted currency. "Unles-s-s-ss you have a REALLY s-s-strong feeling that fat one has a Andros-s the Invincible card...or Falco Aes-salon."

Like...was he a seer? Because THAT would be really neat and then he could expand his chocolate frog collection much more easily.

Because that was totally how seer things worked, right?

Hadley shook her head, still a bit amused by his reaction. Kids that grew up inside the wizarding community tended to be a bit clueless about the ordinary, muggle world. Suddenly, a thought struck her. It was likely her own grandkids or great-grandkids would be raised completely within the wizarding community, they'd be equally clueless about the muggle world. Weird. "Nope. As a rule, muggle things don't tend to move on their own, without assistance." Like someone moving it, or electronics or something. "It takes magic to make things like chocolate come to life and move."

There was a possible career for her. Starting a travel company that let witches and wizards take a vacation in the muggle world. Experience how the other half lives. Seems like most who didn't grow up as a muggle are extremely interested in all things muggle. So might be a successful idea.

"Oh? How'd you do in them?" She was every bit as interested as he had been in muggle chocolate. The O.W.Ls were, after all, soon to be her future. Not this year, but next. And she still had little idea of what to expect with them. But it was still way too soon to be a nervous wreck over them, so that just left a sort of morbid fascination.

"Nothing yet." So far the summer had been your typical, everyday summer break. Nothing special. "But in another week, I'll be flying to California with my sister, to spend the rest of the summer back in California with my Dad." Then it was back to London just in time to spend their birthday in their respective schools. The first day of school to be accurate. Which until Hogwarts, had always been kinda of a let down. But Hogwarts was to...magical...for that.

The United States? Maine? Olivia blinked a couple of moments, trying to remember her muggle geography and where in the world Maine was located. Northeast perhaps? North of Massachusetts but definitely south of Canada. Yeah that sounded right to her. "Nice! What's Illvermony like?" she asked with a curious eyebrow raise. She had heard of Illvermony, the fabled North American school, but had never considered applying there.. Perhaps she should have. That could have been a fun experience. Olivia nodded in agreement with Carissa's mother's suggestion. "That makes sense. My parents are both muggles- well my mother was but anyway.." That was besides the point. Her mother had passed away and Olivia had not been on good terms with her. "So my brother had to convince them that Beauxbatons and Hogwarts were both not scams." She laughed.

Olivia took the other girl's hand and shook it. Carissa, hey? "Likewise. Nice to meet you as well." Carissa was an interesting name indeed. It sounded like an old, regal name. Fascinating. She could have fallen over at Carissa's question about Hogwarts. "What's Hogwarts?" She grinned. "It's apparently only the best Wizarding School ever. I'm here to find out. I'm also here because they're usual a strange phenomenon that occurs and I want in." Olivia was ready for the schoolwork and the unknown challenges that awaited her at Hogwarts.

What was Ilvermorny like? Carissa was never asked that question yet. She thought about it and was thinking, well it is cool. It was kind of like Hogwarts because she knew it was a big castle. It stood on a high mountain top. "Well it is pretty cool. I mean I am not accustomed to hearing so many accents like around here.." Mostly everyone was American. So it made sense. "We do have four houses like you guys. We have Thunderbird, Pukwudgie, Horned Serpent and Wampus.." She wondered if this girl was gonna think she was crazy. I mean those names sounded bizarre in themselves. So both of her parents were muggles. She couldn't help but blurt out, "So then how did you found out about Hogwarts if you are muggle born..?" She heard the rumor only some people with magical blood could come to Hogwarts.

Beauxbatons? That didn't sound familiar at all. "What is Beauxbatons?" she tilted her head in curiousity. Now she said strange phenomenon? Wonder what that could be? "What strange phenomenon? Like what exploring the castle and seeing the ghosts?" She knew each house had a specific house ghost. She was doing some research.

Candice/Noelle <3

Getting all his supplies for his OWL year - INTERNAL SCREAMING - was a must and that meant coming to this very store. Why? Because sweets were a must and he had two sets of secret supplies to fill up: both at home and at Hogwarts.

So, Phillip made his way into this store and headed straight towards his favourite sections, grabbing a basket on the way. Chocolate frogs would've been his first point to visit - Kat liked those, didn't she? - but his feet, instead, took him towards the crystallised pineapples. Besides, all the chocolate reminded him too much of Alice and he needed away from........ that.

Grabbing a bunch of packets, the Slytherin started dumping them into his basket. He didn't really know how many people liked these but that might've been because he didn't really share out his favourites, only the ones he didn't care much about. This meant that he could grab as much as he wanted and relish in the knowledge and only he was going to eat this. Some called it greediness but he called it selective sharing.

And, of course, the cockroach clusters received a scathing look while he was at it, as if they had personally offended him. DISGUSTING, they were.

One less than my age, because you know - no teeth when you're that young," he rambled, continuing to stuff things into his basket.

He pointed to the quills and then held out his basket with a grin. "Mind tossing a few of those in there for me? Please?"

Was she just called dude? The seventh year looked at the boy for a moment before smiling and chuckling a bit. "Well that is good to know. If that is the case then have at it. Take the entire store, but promise me you'll share if you are at Hogwarts. I love my candy stash." Turning she grabbed the sugar quills and handed him a few. "Here you go. So what year are you?"

She turned and really looked at the boy. "I've never seen you around here before. New?" Not that Nat knew everyone, but she worked in Diagon Alley all summer in the music shop and she was pretty social at school. She usually could at least know a face and his was one she didn't remember.

Already touched it? Henry gave the boy a curious look before glancing at the package in his hand again. He couldn't help but be a little offended by that. It wasn't as if he was exceptionally germy or unclean. In fact, when he became a famous Quidditch player one day, people would probably be thrilled if he touched their chocolate frogs. But for now he simply shrugged it off, then held the chocolate frog up, squinting at it, as the boy asked who he thought might be featured on the card inside.

"Mmm, nope!" he said finally, tossing the package in his basket. That'd be one more for him, he supposed. "Pretty sure this one is Gwenog Jones. I'd better hold onto it." He did have that card already, but he didn't really collect them anymore. Unless he found one of the three that would give him a complete set. He just happened to like the Quidditch ones, especially when they'd fly or do something remotely impressive in their picture.

"Are those the ones you need for your collection?" He wasn't going to touch another one to help him pick one out, but he was curious since he mentioned them.

Thunderbird, Pukwudgie, Horned Serpent, and Wampus? Were those the last names of the founders? Olivia was hesitant to believe that. "So who are the houses named after? Like at Hogwarts, they have Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw named after Salazar Slytherin, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Ravenclaw." She remembered Simon giving her the full briefing on ALL of Hogwarts history throughout his years. She had been so envious of his abilities and adventures. She had always wanted to be like him as a child. "My brother, Simon, has magical abilities. He attended Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin. He's the best."

"Beauxbatons is......" How could she put it? "French." It was its own special place. Everyone was beautiful there. She could have sworn that all the students were part Veela or something. She had so often felt like the ugly duckling with her unruly curly hair compared to the straight platinum blonde hair of some of the female students. "It's a Wizarding School in southern French. It's absolutely beautiful. Their academics are brilliant but it just didn't feel like home, ya know?" She hoped Hogwarts would feel like home. Olivia was more than fifty percent sure that it would be a good school for her. If Simon loved it, then there was an extremely high chance that she would LOVE it. "There's always something out of the usual that happens. For instance, there was a really bad winter my brother's third year there. So bad that they were snowed into the castle. Isn't that cool?" She paused, realising the pun. "No pun intended, of course. But then Professors and students worked together to find out the cause of why that was all happening. Brilliant."

Carissa heard the girls question and was puzzled. Who did the founders name their houses after. Then it clicked because she learned it in history class recently. "Oh they named it after creatures they had encountered. Like Thunderbird was after the founder Chadwick who was an intelligent but often temperamental boy. For argumentative but fiercely loyal Webster, it was the Wampus, a magical panther-like creature that was fast, strong and almost impossible to kill. For Isolt, it was, of course, the Horned Serpent that she still visited and with which she felt a strange sense of kinship." Carissa hoped she didn't sound like a nerd but she loved history. Carissa heard the names of their houses and now they sounded cooler than hers. They didn't sound....what was it? Goofy? Yeah goofy. "Well those house names sounds more awesome than mine that's for sure.." she muttered out loud.

She heard her brother Simon was sorted into Slytherin she said? She shrugged and was wondering what house she was gonna be sorted into. Then she had to ask this, "Well I heard a rumor mostly dark wizards were sorted into Slytherin. So does being sorted in Slytherin make you a dark wizard?" She was discovering that theory in her history class about other schools. Beauxbatons was french? "Sooo you went to a french school? Can you speak any french?" she was curious this one. Very curious indeed. So the unusual things that happen was they were snowed in a castle? She snorted with laughter. "Yeah...no. Not really cool. That sounds lame. I want to be able to play snowballs and make snow angels." Just her opinion.

Chocolate frogs, jelly slugs, the quills, and he HAD to try some of those fizzing whizbee things...although he was going to pass on those gummy mice things. They looked too..realistic for his taste.

"I'm going into my second year. You?" he asked her. A cool, older girl was TALKING to him! Awesome! Brent was going to be soooo jealous. "And yeah, I'm new. My brother and I just moved here from California, so we went to Ilvermorny last year. What house are you?? I'm dying to see what house I'm in!" he said excitedly.

"Oh, and I'm Kane by the way," he added, holding out a hand for a shake.

Derf's eyes widened and jaw dropped slightly. So he WAS a Seer then? The older boy spoke with such confidence with his answer that he had convinced himself of this fact and thus was in AWE. "Not really a Holyhead Harpies fan..." he admitted with a scratch of the head, although there WERE players on the team that he admired and had heard stories from his mum about because she had been their professor while at Hogwarts. "I fink I already have one her of though..."

He couldn't really remember at the moment. Tunnel vision on what he needed and all.

"Mmmhmmm," Derf nodded eagerly. "And ofers too...but fey seem to be the hardest to come by." At least in the recent distribution of chocolate frogs on the market. "I like collecting fings...I was working on worm species in the UK this summer. I hope by the time I graduate Hogwarts I have a complete collection of Chocolate Frogs Cards." The small blonde eyed the boy's basket. "Your collection?" he asked with a firm point and eager look.

Okay maybe this was not the best place for Théo to be with money on his person. Because look at all the stuff that needs to be eaten and shared. Since well he could try but he doubted he could eat all the candy he buys. Plus his mom would not let him.

He was not sure where he even wanted to start.

He just kept looking up and down the aisle until anything interesting caught his eye.

CANDY. Definitely her second stop of choise. She was a wand owning ADULT now, basically unstoppable and very much in need of candy. It was the most grown up thing EVER. Except that meant that she had to spend another TWO minutes convincing her mother to wait outside, though unknown to Zoryn her mother had entered a few paces behind her and was watching from a few aisles away. But as far as Zoryn knew, she was all on her own! It was GREAT!

She was going to get a little bit of everything, that was the unofficial plan that her mom officially knew nothing about. Hopefully since Zoryn was basically an adult now, her mother would be willing to pay for it all. "Are you lost or something?" she said, approaching the kid in the same aisle, who looked like he had zero idea of what he was doing.

Did he even know he was in a candy store? Because if not, he was in for a wild story.

Okay maybe he was leaning towards just getting some chocolate frogs and call it a day. Though he did not really want to go back out and have to start finding his mom across the street. That could take ages. So he was just looking at random stuff to waste time yeah. He really did not think he looked that lost. But apparently he did because he just got asked the question shopkeepers ask you when they see you down an aisle looking. But this girl looked to young to be the shopkeeper.

Théo thought she even looked his age.

Okay then. He shook his head.

"No just trying to decide what i want. You can't have too many chocolate frogs "

Or maybe was licorice wands.

Those are fun.

Oh so he wasn't lost. Well that was good news because honestly, Zoryn wasn't good with directions. "Actually," she gave the not-lost-lost-looking kid a matter-of-fact look. "If you eat too many chocolate frogs you’ll turn into one. My mom said so.” It was a FACT. So she solidified it with a few firm nods. Because she TOTALLY knew exactly what she was talking about.

"So you should get licorice wands instead. Those ones don't have any bad side effects," she looked around suspiciously before leaning in to whisper, "that we know of."

So basically, kid was doomed. If he didn't already know that stuff about chocolate frogs, it was only a matter of time. Probably already consumed WAY over the limit. And the transformation was already starting!!! Maybe THAT'S why he looked so lost! It was the DEAD FROG EYES HAPPENING. Or maybe he just really was lost and he didn't want to say so. Zoryn did that too sometimes. Not a lot, but sometimes. Either way, THEY NEEDED TO GET HIM TO MUNGO'S AND STAT.

Olivia nodded slowly, taking note of everything Carissa had said. Huh. That was interesting. Very interesting. "Interesting. Puckwudgie, Thunderbird, Wampus, and Horned Serpent." It seemed less comical after Clarissa had explained the reasoning why each house was called what it was. "I see, that's really neat! It's a lot different from Hogwarts' founding," she said with a grin. Illvermony. She wondered what house she would have gotten sorted to if she had attended that school instead of Beauxbatons. "What house are you in?"

Her eyes widened at the very question that Carissa proposed. She didn't know whether to be offended by the girl presuming that her brother was a dark wizard. Instead of huffing, she simply chuckled. "Of course not! There are good Slytherins throughout history. Being a Slytherin doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be a Dark Wizard." She paused. Olivia couldn't imagine her brother being a Dark Wizard. He always played by the rules and stuck to them. His grades and everything he did was nearly perfect. It was unfair. "I couldn't imagine my brother being a Dark Wizard honestly. He follows the rules perfectly and seeks to bring people to justice in his own ways."

Olivia nodded. "Oui. I am fluent in French," she grinned. Hearing Carissa's reaction to staying in side made Olivia scoff. "Alright, yes, but... Wouldn't you be at least interested in finding out the reason why you were snowed in? Maybe there's some reason why that has to do with Ancient Runes or the Dark Arts." She was getting very excited as her mind raced to different possibilities.

Théo had a really hard time believing that she believe that. He was hoping she was joking because seriously. Did she believe everything her mom said. Because Théo did not believe a lot of what his mom or brother or sister said. So here he was giving her a "do you really believe that look" While listening to whatever else she was saying. He did not really want to be rude to someone he just met but really.

"You really believe what your mom says...all the time?"

Did she also believe in the tooth fairy and the stork because he was close to asking that as well. Though he was thinking about the licorice wands.

"How about some sherbet lemons or fizzing whizzbees"

He was still going to get some chocolate frogs and prove her wrong. Even if he never sees her again. Merlin help anyone who believes what her mom said. Probably just did not want her eating a lot of them.

Interested by this information about candy, Mason listened to the girl's words as if he were listening to an important lesson at Hogwarts in which O.W.L.s were mentioned.

So muggle and wizarding candy were not alike. Not having tried muggle candy before, he had no idea and had always assumed that candy moving in its own was a normal thing.

Do they use like... what was the word again? He knew he had heard it in Muggle studies before. "Computers, am i saying that right? do they use those things to make candy?

OWLS. Now THAT was a subject he knew and could talk about. "I only failed History of Magic with a P and i surprisingly got a E in Divination, i don't know how that happened but i'm not complaining" he laughed.

Back to California? Mason looked at Callie. He never knew that she was born somewhere else than England. Or did she mean that her father did? Not that that was important or anything. What was however was the fact she was going to fly to California. FLY! "What broom model do you have?" He asked, thinking she was going to fly to California on a broom. Cause how else was she going to get there?

"Yeah, computers." She paused a moment to consider his question. "Sort of? They're usually made in a factory, where computerized machines perform each task along a conveyor belt. So like one machine will stir the chocolate, and then another pours it into the molds or something, and then another wraps it, etc. They're all programmed by computers to do their task perfectly. It's pretty interesting actually. They even have shows that show you how things are made like that." Which is how she knew that much to begin with. "But I think most factories do give tours to the public to see how things are made and such..." Or was that only in movies?

"Oh." Hadley nodded as if she completely understood. Which she did, actually. "Yeah, I'm not great in History of Magic either." So she could totally sympathize. Some parts were interesting but mostly it was kinda dull in her opinion. "But congrats on the E in Divination!"

What kind of broom did she have? Random question. "I have a Firebolt X-treme, actually. Named Langley. You?" Then it dawned on her. Oh...he thinks... Hadley had to suppress her urge to laugh. She'd had one of her own housemates blow up at her for not knowing basic magical history her first week at Hogwarts, so she knew what it was like to be clueless about the other side of the fence and being attacked or mocked, or whatever for it. "But, that's not how we're flying to California. We're taking a plane. Doing it the muggle way." Since she was the only one in her family that was magical. Which was odd, considering she was an identical twin. Guess that 0.000000003% or whatever difference in her and her sister's DNA, made all the difference?

"Have you ever been to California?" Because if he hadn't, he should. "It's pretty great. I miss it, actually. I mean don't get me wrong. I love Hogwarts and I love all the friends I have here, but California is home, you know?"

"You say that like it's a bad thing!" She didn't like his tone. If he was implying that she was a dummy, then HE was a dummy because Zoryn was definitely not one. Her mom always told her the truth, so of course Zoryn believed her all the time. "Bet your mom lies to you loads," she said with a hand on her hip. That's why he didn't believe his mother.

Luckily, Zoryn forgot that she was mad because candy was a really good distraction. Her little angry cloud evaporated quickly as she put a hand to her chin and tilted her head as if considering the question deeply. "Definitely sherbet lemons! AND fizzing whizzbees! Canary creams are good too!"

She was like an EXPERT in candy.

Eeeh...

He had expected to get a yes or no answer about his question but when Hadley went on to explain, using muggle terms he vaguely understood because he had heard or read them in his muggle studies textbook, he simply stared at her. Yup, definitely a Ravenclaw as well this one was.

Scratching the back of his neck with his free hand as he listened, Mason tried understand how candy was made and even made a mental note to try and make some when they were back at school. Surely the muggle studies room still had a computer right?

"I should check out one of those factories then!" if he had learned this much from a younger student, imagine how much he would learn from professionals! "Do you think the employees of this shop secretly eat some of the candies while working?" he asked as he looked around them. "I know i would" he laughed. Bad example from an older student? Nah!....ok probably...

She owned a firebolt x-treme? That was so cool! He did not laugh at her for naming her broom because Mason would have done the same thing if he had thought about it. "i used to have a Nimbus G 3. But it went to my nephew because i couldn't use it anymore" no space to fly without muggles noticing and his parents wanted him to focus on his studies instead of being with his heads in the clouds. Literally.

......wait...plane? He knew what that was! Those giant robot birds in the sky! Mason looked at Hadley with a concerned expression on his face. "its safe right? I mean, i know those things don't fly with magic....how does it even stay in the air? And MOVE?! ....no wait. Don't tell me, i want to find this out myself!" muggle library here he comes!

"Nope never" he said as Hadley asked if he had ever been to California. "I haven't been further than Germany and France for holidays" one day maybe? "But if California is your home, why didn't you go to Ilvermorny?"

Hattie!

For the last few days Cassie hadn't done much of anything. No swimming, gymnastics, singing/dancing, baking or even laughing. It was an incredibly strange feeling to not be her happy little blonde self but she couldn't help it. Nothing was helping to pull her out of her out of this unusual little mood she was currently in. Not even when her daddy gave her some coins and dropped her off in DA telling her she could have fun for awhile and he'd pick her up later.

Normally being near the shops but a spring in her already bouncy step and a huge smile on her face. But not today. Being around here was making her feel even worse. Cass was going to try though. Maybe she'd see one of her friends of something. The little blonde pushed open the door to Sugarplum's and stepped inside her feet already moving towards one of the aisle's as she grabbed a basket. If anything could help her feel better right now it was hopefully some candy and this girl knew candy.

Noelle had gotten the GREAT news that she was going to be a prefect this term!!! The badge had come by owl and everything. While this made her extremely happy... it also made her nervous. How was she going to be able to handle being a prefect in with everything else?? She knew what she needed to do. She needed to talk to her Transfiguration Professor and Professor Hirsch.... and Professor Newton as soon as she got to school. No ifs, ands, or buts.

But for now,
Noelle needed chocolates.

Heading into Sugarplums, she breathed in the yummy smell it always gave off. This was her kind of spot. Her stress reliever spot. She tried to clear her head from OWLs coming this year, all her training, being a prefect, her schedule, etc. Right now, it was all about the goodies.

She walked a little further and spotted a familiar face. Her Pinecone. Grinning from ear to ear, Noelle poked Phillip in the side while waiting for him to face her since she had come up behind him. What a nice surprise.

It WAS NOT a bad thing. "I didn't eat too many!" Because she was well informed of the dangers of eating to many chocolate frogs! Hadn't she just said that? Man, this kid did not know how to keep up. "Bet you can't prove me wrong," she said crossing her arms. It was genius because either a) he would eat way too many and turn into a frog or b) he would eat too many and get sick. Either way, it did not sound like a good idea so Zoryn wasn't about to try it out to see the truth.

"Wow, you're picky," she wasn't the biggest fan of Acid pops. But Canary creams were good! And also really funny!

It didn't take long for Hadley to realize she probably lost Mason while describing to process. "Sorry," she said sheepishly. "But, yeah, take a factory tour if you ever get the chance. It makes a lot more sense when you can see all the machines in action."

Did she think the employees snuck little pieces of candy for themselves? "Yeah, of course they do." Although...she didn't actually know that. "Probably. I definitely would if I worked here too." And then she'd probably get fat, and her sister and she wouldn't be identical anymore...and that just felt sad. Nevermind they weren't exactly identical right now, given the fact Natalie's hair was still blonde and Hadley had hers dyed red.

She shook her thoughts away. Wait. "Why can't you use it anymore?" Did he get into trouble and had it taken away or something? That was usually the reason for when Hads couldn't use something or hers. But still, she got the thing back eventually.

"Yeah, they're really safe." The occasional crash did happen, but they weren't that common. Hads was just about to explain how flight worked, from her understanding of it at least. Which admittedly she learned from a kid's movie. But it was more sumplified fact than made up for an audience of kids. But Mason wanted to learn it on his own. Cool. She could respect that.

Wait, he had been to Germany and France? "Awesome! I've always wanted to visit those countries!" But yeah California. "You should totally visit if you ever get a chance. It's great." No, she wasn't biased. Well, maybe a little. "Oh! Yeah. Well, we moved to London just before my 11th birthday. Mom got offered the chance to be head chef at a new 5-star restaurant opening up here, and that was a huge opportunity for her, so we moved. I didn't even know I was a witch until I moved here. But, yeah. I live in London, so Hogwarts is the school I go to."

Zoryn totally outsmarted him. So of course she was smiling all big now. He couldn't prove her wrong, so that meant she was right. DUH. "I sooooooOOOOoo didn't," she said wiggling her body too, both hands placed on either side of her hips now. "I don't owe you proof 'cause I just met you and you're weird," she nodded.

She wasn't that picky. Just a little picky. She always tried to eat her vegetables whenever mother was looking her way. A picky person wouldn't even try to pretend they ate them. So HA.

"I'm Zoryn," she blurted out as an after thought, sticking her hand out for a handshake because she saw adults do that all the time when they introduced themselves to people.

Zoryn A. Spinnet, a sophisticated socialite and avid canary cream eater.... Okay, It was a working title.

For Sonea and whoever

Dora would be a TOTAL liar if she denied the fact that she still had a sweet tooth. The teen had given up so many of her CHILDISH habits and such, but candy was not something she had been able to shake. Not that she had wanted to. Heh.

The blonde had her usual summer tan still in place, hair a bit more blonde than normal. She also had a light air about her as she searched the shelves around her. Something special was in order, yes it was. Celebratory chocolate, if you will. OWL year called for lots of expensive confections to keep at school.

Now

What did she want?

Henry didn't much notice the look the younger boy was giving him, but he did look back at him as he mentioned the Quidditch team. "Yeah, I guess they're not my favorite team.." Though he would admit there were some very attractive and skilled women on that team. "I like the Catapults and Cannons better. Are you a Quidditch fan though?" Henry would think the boy was at least familiar with the sport as he hadn't missed a beat with knowing which team Jones had been a part of. "Yeah, I don't think she's one of the rare ones," he added with a chuckle, as he had several.

But the ones that the boy mentioned, Henry could agree that they at least seemed rare and he gave him a sympathetic nod. Part of the fun of chocolate frogs was collecting the cards and trying to see if you could get a complete collection, but at the same time it could be frustrating to continue to get the same witch or wizard when you already had four or five cards of them. "Worm species?" Henry suddenly gave the boy a quizzical glance. "Like you collect worms?" That was an interesting thing to collect and he was somewhat curious about it.

The fifteen year old quickly glanced at the large pile of chocolate frogs in his basket as the boy gestured towards them, then looked back at him again. "Oh.. I used to collect them, and trade them too. All I need now are Newt Scamander, Maladora Grymm, and Merlin.. but I get them more now just because I like chocolate." And his friends did too. But he had other things that he deemed more important to do. That wasn't to say that if he did find one of those rarer cards that he wouldn't snatch it right up. He did want to have a complete set after all, and he was very close to it.

What did she want?

Candy! With her eyes twinkling she entered the shop and looked around her, what would she buy? And... What would she take back for her parents? Mum liked something like caramel bud dad? Hmm... Walking toward a random jar with candy she looked curious at it and wondered how it would taste. She still had a lot to learn about the candy in the magical world because she had grown up with all the muggle stuff but this... This looked yummy!

But then she spotted a girl she recognized from Hogwarts but from where? Had they worked together during a class? She didn't knew for sure anymore so she left the jar with candy behind and walked over toward the girl and tapped her on her shoulder. "Hi! You're from Hogwarts too! Did we worked together during a lesson? I recognize you from somewhere" she smiled widely at the girl while speaking and again she tried to remember where she had seen the other girl before.

Even though Esme wasn't a fan of chocolate, that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy the other varieties of candy that were out there. Sugarplums was full of some of her favourite sweets, though she had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Bertie Botts. One time she had eaten a vomit flavoured one and ever since then she was more than a little hesitant to try them.

Deciding to bypass them all together, she set about adding other items to her basket. Sugar Quills, Licorice Wands, Ice Mice, and Pepper Imps were grabbed among other things. Should she add some Chocolate Frogs in for Juno? Esme bit her lip before adding some of those in as well.

Wasn't she just the nicest sister ever.

She was starting to sound like someone he knew and could not tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He would need some time to think on that so best to just forget about it for now. Also she insulted his mom before so now they are even. "Fizzing Whizbees are a good idea" Théo nodded. And would be fun eating. Still dont know why she wanted the handshake. They were not adults or anything.

He only saw his dad sometimes shake peoples hands when he was out with him.

"They arent going to let us just eat these then pay. So anything else you want before"

So if he was friends with a weirdo. Guess that makes him a weirdo as well.

Logic sucked.

Carl loved Wizarding candy. Granted, he liked candy of any kind, but the magical ones were simply the best in the world! That was why he was in Sugarplum's that day. He did not come to Diagon Alley often and he wanted to stock up on his sweets before the school term began.

Holding a few chocolate frogs - his favorite - in both hands, the fourteen-year-old looked at the other displays. Drooble's Best Blowing Gums, Fizzing Whizbees, Sugar Quills... he liked all of them, but since he only had a few Galleons left, he had to choose carefully.

Speaking of choosing carefully, Carl noticed a familiar Hufflepuff hesitating before adding chocolate frogs into her basket. "Hey, Esme!" He grinned at her. "How have you been? Are you on a sugar splurge?" That was quite a lot of candies in her basket!

"It's okay, really" he said, waving a hand and accidentally knocking over a chocolate frog package. He watched it fall on the ground before stooping down to pick it back up.

Looking around for a quick moment to see if anyone had seen that , but then thinking that candies fell on the floor every time with excited children knocking stuff over. Poor shopkeepers..."But i'll definitely check one out, if that's possible" he said as he put back the chocolate frog package with the others.

He did grin a little bit at her words of agreement of eating the candy as well if she worked here but didn't comment on it further in case someone walked by and thought they were talking about stealing some. You never know. And he liked his clean record so far.

As the topic of broomsticks came on, Mason sighed a bit and looked outside of the window opposite the shop as if he got see the Quidditch shop. "My parents wanted me to focus on my studies. "You'll have enough time flying around after graduation" he quoted his mother, even trying to sound like her. "It's okay though, i'm not really in to flying anyways but i did like that broom..."

Mason raised his eyebrows skeptically. Safe huh? he'd had to look up what was so safe about airplanes that stayed in the air without the support of magic. He sometimes wondered if the muggles were more advanced than they were. "Well...if you say it's safe..." his voice sounded as if he did not believe that.

"I'll keep California in my mind then" he said with a nod of his head. Hadley sounded like it was a fantastic place so it did nudge his curiousity. "And if you're there as well you have to show me around, deal?" Ah, so she came to life in London after turning 11. That was fascinating.

Being around Gryffindors a lot should've made this boy more adept to expecting random people to jump out at him but nope. One minute, he was standing there, harmlessly picking out the crystallised pineapples he wanted, and the next?

"AAAAAARGH!"

The sweets in his hand were thrown up in the air as he jumped slightly and turned to face his perpetrator, the one who was now responsible for the handful of sweets now scattered on the floor. He hardly even registered the girl but instead, looked up to see if the shopkeeper was breathing down on their necks. He DID want to leave here with some sweets, after all, not a howler for his mum.

Checking that the coast was clear, Phillip turned to look over at the girl who'd poked him, a wide smile now settling into place. "Merlin, Pinecone, way to give a guy a scare." All of a sudden, he didn't care about the sound or the basket he was still holding and, instead, wrapped her up in a hug.

And the sweets on the floor? They could be shuffled over towards a corner that was as far away from them as possible.

Nothing to see here.

They were not adults or anything.

He only saw his dad sometimes shake peoples hands when he was out with him.

"They arent going to let us just eat these then pay. So anything else you want before"

So if he was friends with a weirdo. Guess that makes him a weirdo as well.

Logic sucked.

It was probably a good thing then. Zoryn was GREAT. She held a few fizzing whizbees in her hands, and nodded vigorously in agreement. Always a good idea. Mhm. And she wanted the handshake to be all official 'cause they were basically adults now, duh. With their own wands AND EVERYTHING.

"Hmmmm, I think we've got everything," she made a dramatic show of putting a finger to her forehead in thought before breaking out into a big grin. "WAIT. And licorice wands," he didn't have a problem with those... Right? Because Zoryn already decided she was getting two of them. "NOW we've got everything."

They could be weirdos together. That sounded like FUN.

OHMYGOSHWOW.

Etta walked into the store, her eyes widening almost double their size ( well. Not REALLY double but you know what I mean ) as she took in the gigantic amount of candy that were on display. Like. This is life.

Impatiently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ears, she slowly made her way down an aisle, gawking at all the yummy things. Maybe chocolate frogs.... OH! Sugarquills!! She picked one before moving over to the next shelf, eyeing the box of the fizzing whizbees curiously. She'd never tried that one before but the name sounded COOL. Yep.

She slowly wandered down to the next aisle, picking up sweets as she went, a happy and content smile on her face.

After plopping a few Chocolate Frogs into the basket, Esme decided that she would add some more. Even if Juno was probably going to come by later it didn't really hurt. They would probably come back together since her sister was the best person to shop with. Well, when it came to things other than clothes, since they had NOTHING in common when it came to fashion sense. The day that she wore combat boots was the day that pigs grew wings and learned to fly.

Hearing her name, she looked up and smiled. "Hey, Carl!" It was nice that he knew how to tell her and Juno apart though really it was only difficult when they were wearing Hogwarts robes and even then people like Oliver could still tell them apart. "I've been pretty good! Not really wanting summer to end." Of course that didn't mean she wouldn't enjoy being back there with her friends. "How about you?" And as far as the candy was concerned... "Yes and no. Some of this is for my sister. Are you going to buy a bunch too?" Everyone loved candy. Even though she didn't indulge in it as much as Juno, she did enjoy having some. Ice cream was more her thing though. Yum.

OKAY maybe she had some good idea. Like the fizzing whizbees and now the licorice wands. Théo mouth was already watering just thinking about eating all this. But he was still thinking they were forgetting something fun "WAIT i think we are forgetting something" He took a quick look around until he found them. He walked over grabbed a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and showed her.

"Yep these should be fun"

NOW they had everything. Some stuff just to eat and things to eat together for fun. Because it was fun to make the other person pick a bean for them to eat.

That is all hoping she was okay with doing that.

Kane grinned. "You've got a deal," he told her. He paused to take a look at the stash he had after adding the sugar quills.

This one was super cute for a second year. She smiled as he said it was a deal and went for more candy. She hoped his mother gave him enough money for all he had. "Is your mother close buy to pay for all that?" She didn't want him to get embarrassed at the counter if he didn't have enough. "Oh the American school. I thought I noticed you had an accent." Though her Australian one still came out even though it had been four years since she moved in with her dad.

"I'll be a seventh year." She still couldn't believe it herself when she said it. A seventh year, "Well newbie you met the right person right away." Giving him a little wink she leaned down and placed some cauldron cakes into his basket. "If you need anything I am the head girl this term so I could help you." The younger boy was adorable so of course Natalia would help him. Well at least until he annoyed her. "I'm a Slytherin. It's where all the cool people are." So untrue since she had friends in other houses, but she couldn't help saying it.

"My name is Natalia."

"I've got enough," Kane insisted with a smile. He MAY have convinced his parents that he needed a bit more to spend than he thought he really did...for this specific purpose. Hehe. He knew that Brent had done the same, expecting to spend a bunch of money on Quodpot stuff, but he hadn't seen any shops around for that. Quidditch yes, but not Quodpot...

"Wow, really? That's awesome! I've been reading up on them a bit, and I think I'll be in Gryffindor, or maybe Hufflepuff - I bet my brother is going to be in Slytherin, though. I just have a FEELING," he explained. "He's a fourth year. You won't be able to miss him, because he'll probably introduce himself to you immediately and start flipping his hair around to seem all cool," he told her with a chuckle. He was sort of exaggerating - but also, not really. That was SO BRENT.

She had GREAT ideas, okay!? She was just bubbling with them. And this is why she was so excited for Hogwarts. 'Cause there would be so much potential for FUN. Basically, this was gonna be the bestest year EVER. Just as she was about to skip over to the counter to pay, she whipped around hearing Theo announce that they missed something else. What could they have possibly--

OOOOOH.

"Good thinking," she nodded in approval and wore a HUGE smile. See, she liked him already. He was smart. They could make each other try to eat them and hopefully HE'D get all the icky flavors. But she'd try because she was a good sport. Also, "Do you know what house you want to be sorted in?" It was an important question. Zoryn hadn't really done her research....

Having known the Darcy twins for almost three years, Carl had learned how to tell Esme and Juno apart. It was a lot easier when they were not in their Hogwarts uniforms, or when Juno had her Prefect badge on. Sometimes he wished he had a twin brother as well, just to prank other people.

"Me too! I don't want the summer to end, but I love being at Hogwarts too. I confuse myself sometimes." The badger said, laughing. Despite the weird things that happened at school, he really missed it there. He wondered what the Poltergeists were doing at the castle... actually no, he'd rather not think about it. "That's really nice of you! Well, I do want to buy a whole basket of them, but I don't have much money left after buying my school supplies this morning. Do you have any recommendations?" He gestured at the displays, waving the chocolate frogs in his hand. Those were his favorite, so he absolutely had to get them.

Confusing herself was something that Esme did a fair bit at times, so she understood exactly what Carl was talking about. She laughed along with him. "I confuse myself too. Tests were not her thing and she was not looking forward to NEWTs, but she supposed that things could be worse; apparently students of Beauxbatons did their exams in Sixth Year which meant that they had to do TWO years of testing in a row. Crazy.

What he said next made her smile. She really DID try to be a good sister! Even to River though he could be a huge butt. "Well, in that case I would just stock up on the Chocolate Frogs." They seemed to be what he was the most enthusiastic about. Chocolate wasn't her thing by any means but a lot of people loved it. Juno thought she was weird to dislike it, but Esme didn't think it was strange at all.

He knew Esme was an outstanding student, so he was sure that she did well. He was not looking forward to his OWLs, which would take place in about... two years. Well, he could worry about them in the future. Now he had more important things to think about.

Sweets. "That sounds reasonable! I think I'll do that, thanks." He nodded and grabbed a few more chocolate frogs. He could wait until he boarded the Hogwarts Express to buy other candies. "What is your favorite sweet?"

She smiled sheepishly, even though he said it was okay, and pretended not to notice when he knocked the frog to the floor. Nor did she really think anything of him putting it back on the shelf. No harm, no foul.

Hadley made a face as he talked about his parents views on brooms. "Man, that's harsh." She got why his parents wanted him to focus on studying, but still. "I mean, you do need down time. You can't study all the time. That's actually really counter-productive." Fun and downtime were a necessity, and in Hadley's opinion, there was no better downtime than flying on a broomstick. Unless...you weren't really into flying on a broomstick, apparently. Hads really didn't understand that, to be honest, but then, there was a lot about her housemates that she didn't really understand, so she simply shrugged.

The skeptical look on his face and doubt in his voice didn't go unnoticed, and Hadley again fought the urge to chuckle. It was kinda cute how clueless he was about muggle things. Then again, if she really thought about it from an outsider's perspective, she could see how one might find the concept of a several ton hunk of metal flying safely through the air. Without magic.

"Oh, you can count on that. Deal." She'd love to show her friends and housemates around her hometown. She's spent the last few years getting to know their world after all, coming in as an outsider. Both to the magical world and to the British world. "Just let me know when you get around to checking it out. I'll come and show you around."

"Yep." Hadley nodded. "Muggle. I'm the first witch in my immediate family. Apparently my aunt was a witch, and so is my cousin, but I didn't know that until I spotted my cousin on the train. She's in Ravenclaw too." Though, she mostly kept to herself, with her nose in a book, so he might not know her that much. Complete opposite of Hadley, Ailsa was. "My Mom, Dad, brother and sister...all muggles. What do your parents do?" The prospect of wizarding careers intrigued her, since it was most likely she'd be working in the wizarding community. It was nice to get an idea of what was out there for her.

Dora turned at the sound of someone clearly speaking to her. "Do you think I should get the licorice wands or the ice mice?" she asked immediately. She then squinted at the girl in faux thought.

The Gryffindor had a great memory and a knack for remembering faces, you see, so she DEFINITELY remembered the younger girl. She wasn't sure of her name, but she knew the face. "Hey! Yeah we did work together. I can't remember if it was charms or Potions, but we definitely worked together." Was she being redundant? Hmm. Anyway. "What year are you going into? You're in Slytherin, yeah?" she asked as she started moving down the aisle. It was a clear invitation for her to follow.

She laughed as he talked about his brother. "Well sounds like he'll get along in SLytherin fine then." Most of the guys thought they were hot and made for flirting with girls. Most.. not all there were exceptions thank goodness.

"Dark chocolate and peanut butter, DEFINITELY," Kane told her with a smile. Peanut butter ALWAYS. He could probably live off the stuff if he had to. So that was really a no brainer question for him.

"Wait, you're in a BAND? That's awesome! You know, I play the guitar," he told her proudly. He was using the word 'play' kind of loosely there, as he really only knew a few chords, but one of these days when he had time, he was going to sit down and learn some more! "I'm hoping for Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. I mean, I really don't care either way, but I've done some reading, and those two seem like the best fit for me," he explained. Even though he WOULD like to be in the same house as Brent, he knew that wasn't going to happen. They weren't in the same house at Ilvermorny - he doubted they'd end up in the same place here.

He agreed with her about Hogwarts. He was excited to see his friends at school and well be away from his family. Though not really away away since his cousin will be in his year but still. And look she actually said something nice. Théo smiled "Take turns eating one the other picked" Just in case she did completely get it. Oh houses well at least she was not like that muggle-born he had met in the book shop.

Much better even though that guy was alright so just confused about almost everything.

"Gryffindor or Ravenclaw sound good. Though id be okay with any house. As long as i have friends in it. Have heard people die in Hufflepuff. Not recently though. You?"

He asked walking with her to the check out slowly.

Zoryn nodded in excitement, "I hope you get the icky flavors," she giggled. "Uh, no offense." Only because she didn't want to get the icky flavors. Not because she really wanted him to get them, y'know?

In hindsight, Zoryn probably shouldn't have assumed he was a first year going to Hogwarts. But then again... She just assumed everyone here was going to be a first year at Hogwarts. Except for the old guys in beards, 'cause that'd be kind of weird. Unless... DID HOGWARTS PROFESSORS SHOP AT CANDY STORES (and did they have BEARDS?).

Important questions, okay.

So she was very fortunate when the boy actually responded to confirm that her assumption was correct. Meaning: Zoryn would learn nothing about making assumptions and will continue doing the same thing all week until proven wrong. "I wanna be in the awesome house," she nodded, as if that was a proper response to the question.

She knew zero things about Hogwart's houses. Her parents didn't go there and it wasn't like she was about to read a book. EW! It was SUMMER. Reading during the summer is BOH-RING. "But not Huffleput 'cause I don't want to die," she added as an after thought. He said they died. "I've got WAY too many awesome plans, so I can't die yet."

It wasn't often that both Elodie and Aidan were off work at the same time and now that she was in her third trimester, Elodie thought it would be nice to use those days to finish up painting the nursery and making sure they had absolutely everything they needed. Now, shopping in Muggle London with magic was easy, because as soon as they got out of the shop, she was able to stuff everything inside her own handbag and not have to worry about it. And some stores even had the option to have shopping delivered - which she definitely took advantage of.

Pregnancy cravings had been reaaaaaaaal bad the past few days and it was only now that she was able to convince her husband-to-be to let her satisfy her cockroach cluster cravings. Convinced, he was....if being convinced meant having no idea whatsoever. What Aidan didn't know, didn't hurt him.

One hand on her bump, and the other in Aidan's, Elodie perused the shelves and mumbled the names of things, only adding them to Aid's basket if Pebble made any movements.

Pebble approved.

Forget being off at the same time, what was even rarer recently was when Elodie actually tolerated Aidan for the duration of an outing. Or wanting to go out with him in general. Perhaps sweet shopping was un-related to the baby enough that he couldn't possibly annoy her.

He swung her arm gently as they walked. It didn't matter to him what they bought, as long as she was happy. And Pebble, of course.

It wasn't her fault that Aidan only ever gave baby conversations the glorious 'oh I don't mind, you choose' or 'I don't know' which was why she always was so frustrated with him nowadays. That, and everything in their daily life was to do with the baby already. He cuddled the bump all of his free time and it was as if he was marrying her stomach and not her. Disheartening as ever, of course. It was almost as if the baby had came at the wrong time... Weren't they supposed to be finalising their waltz lessons? Making sure people were coming in October?

"How about cockroach clusters, Pebs?" Because Elodie was dying for some.

"Babe, wanna get some fudge too?" Yummmmmmmmy.

Aidan's heart fluttered at the name "Pebs". THAT WAS HIS BABY. He was so in love with his babies.

"Yes," he answered immediately. He answered before the thought occurred to him that he didn't not care what they got. He was actually concerned that she ate healthy and maybe shouldn't be picking up too many sweets. But it was too late. And the chocolates would last a while, right? It wasn't like she'd eat them all in one sitting....

She knew better. She was a healer, after all.

"Some of everything?" he asked.

Deciding that their daughter just wasn't in agreement about anything that she wanted to eat (something which she had clearly inherited from her pain in the backside father), Elodie started to just add things to the basket without a care in the world. Enough of everything that she already enjoyed to make them a good purchase and enough to everything that she hadn't yet tried out to try and eat more of if she liked them. Elodie was a planner, you know.

"Anything specific you want? I think we should pop into a few book places and see if we can get her name on a few diary things. You know, for the box? And maybe we can see if Primpernelles has any stuff for pregnancy. I'm getting a hairy stomach!" And he cuddled it enough that she knew he knew it was a thing. Poor bae.

Aidan quietly, but painfully, watched his fiancee add more and more into her basket. He shook his head, "Just chocolate's okay. What do you want?" It was always about what she wanted, for him. He'd do anything to make her happy. It wasn't that he was indifferent or unopinionated, he just cared about her happiness more right now. Her's and Pebble's.

"I'd like everything. But I could eat a house and not be happy right now." Being pregnant was a lot on her appetite. Only a few months ago, it was completely different. And now she was snacking on crackers and cheese every hour between meals, otherwise she was getting light headed and having to take a break at work all the time. And she was much too busy dealing with baby delivering for that to happen.

"Perhaps I'll stick with everything we have in here for now..." Did sweet treats go out of date? Would she have to eat them all by tomorrow?

"So, we'll get a little of everything..." he decided. Aidan started towards the fudge..when...she seemed to change her mind? No fudge, then? He was just as okay with that, her basket was pretty full. "Ready to check out?" Then? Maybe?

Hm.. Elodie stopped and looked between the basket and Aidan and then her bump. "I mean, I'm not sure. I'm hungry enough that I could buy the entire show and not think about it. Should we get more? Do you think we need more? I'm going to need stuff to eat whilst we're walking around." Unless he wanted her to get really annoyed with him and ultimately eat his arm off. Eating his arm was probably better than punching him in the gut, she thought.

Both good ideas. Both fun ideas.

"Also, tell your daughter to get the heck off my bladder."

He would have given her a side-eyed look if she wasn't pregnant and he didn't know better. She was going to need something to eat while they walked? And did it have to be sweets?

Aidan nodded. "We should get some fudge. We'll both eat it." Maybe. If she gave him a chance. Besides, apparently, the more food they left with the better. And hopefully they wouldn't need to come back so soon?

He cracked a grin at the mention of his daughter. He placed on of his hands over her belly, casually, and gave a gentle squeeze.

Elodie smiled. "You choose what fudge. I just want it all." Because she was a hungry pregnant woman, did he know? He probably didn't. She had just gained a whole lot of weight and was growing a little girl in her stomach. "Not too much fudge. We already have a lot of stuff." Els was thinking about him a whole lot in that moment. She knew that Aidan wouldn't want to be carrying a heavy bag of sweets on their journey home and she was planning to keep him on side today as it was his turn to cook dinner.

Or she just wanted him to cook.

Because she was pregnant and felt like cuddling on the sofa with their dogs and having her hair played with. Pregnancy priorities.

"You're encouraging her! Pebs, kick your Daddy before I do." And she wasn't really able to balance on one foot right now, so it was all up to the little one growing in her tum.

She wanted all the fudge, but not too much. She wanted him to stop Pebble from being on her bladder, but she got angry every time he tried. Will this pregnancy get any better for him?

Aidan drew his hand back and wandered off to get some fudge. Fine, babe, fine.

Raven and Ava! <3

It was tradition that every time he visited Diagon Alley that Adi make a stop at Sugarplums. In his opinion, they carried the best sweets. Sugarplums and Honeydukes both, actually. He casually browsed the display. Of course he would be getting loads of chocolate frogs, something sour for the fiance among other treats.

Maybe he should grab a basket. For some reason, even though he knew he'd be buying loads of sweets, he never got one of those the moment her entered the shop. Oh well. He'd grab one soon enough.

For now... he pushed his sunglasses from his eyes, resting them among his dark hair. There would be more casual browsing!

Kolyander 04-14-2017 03:11 PM

Koen had slipped away from his cousin, kinda, he had told her where he was going and headed straight for the Sugarplums. A kid just needed some candy sometimes and there was no better place in DA to go. Plus Hady was cool like that and allowed him to wonder off sometimes just so she knew where he was and so he didn't cause any problems.

Pushing the door open the blonde stepped out of the hot stickiness that was summertime and into the coolness of the shop. Instantly blue eyes moved over all the different sweets that were right there within his reach. None really caught his eye though and he headed down one of the aisle's straight for the chocolate frogs and bertie's beans. He was a kid on a mission and he knew exactly where he was going. Just so he got what he came here for all would be good in the world

Henry always had to stop at Sugarplum's at least once every summer. Of course he still had something of a sweet tooth, even if that wasn't quite as prominent as he got older and tried to eat healthier for Quidditch and all that. But he still liked chocolate especially and liked to stock up for when he couldn't make it out to the store.

Chocolate frogs were a given, plus he was starting to favor different flavors of fudge, and he couldn't forget the lemondrops. And as always, he needed to find something new that he had never tried. A potential new favorite. But, what? Hadn't he tried everything here? Surely they had to have something new though. But first he needed a basket because he was really planning to stock up today.

Magnus Lovelace was finally fresh off the airplane from New York City and he was ready to get his butt in gear to make new friend, buy school supplies and get his butt to Hogwarts already. This former Ilvermorny student was Hogwarts bound and so happy about it. The blonde haired kid made his way through Diagon Alley. He had been here once but he was a little lost. The last time he was here he was about three years old or even five years old. He really didn't remember this place this much.

Magnus found himself near a candy store. He looked around for a moment before walking into the store. As he walked into the store he looked around at all of the people that were close to his age or maybe they were his age. He was happier about meeting people than buy any candy right now.

Edward Blaze had been walking around for awhile observing the area. He had been wanting to get down to knockturn alley see if any of his relatives were there, but he knew better of it. His mother gave him orders to stay out of there and be good. He would be good, but he might not stay away from there. He felt it was dumb not to just let him start working with the family, he would sooner or later. His father was gone yet again on a trip for work and Eddie wanted to go with him, but it was always the same thing.

He was too young..... pffft

He was twelve now, that wasn't too young in his eyes. He had been the man of the house every time his father was gone. He puffed out his chest as he headed into the candy shop, maybe he'd con someone into giving him some candy they just bought. He didn't want to waste any of his money in here.
Looking around he noticed a ton of kids from school, so he had to put on his happy smile and be the sweet kid that some thought he was.

Grabbing a basket he pretended to be looking around.

Mint Chocolate Frogs.

Her saviour, her motivation for life, and one of the only reasons Mason would even step into Diagon Alley besides purchasing her crap for school. Sugarplum's was the destination and end game for today, and nothing was going to get in the way of her potentially getting a sugar overdose today. Pushing the shop's door open, the Snake felt the coolness of the store hit her as she stepped out of the heat of the simmering of the Summer's day. Wearing black today probably hadn't been the best idea, but that was of minuscule importance right now, she was on a mission -

- a mission that suddenly didn't seem that important to her anymore. Because standing right there, was one of the prettiest people she'd seem in all day, and she'd passed by several mirrors on the way here fyi. How had she not noticed him at school before? Running a tan hand through her hair, Mason tried to look as smouldering yet casual as possible as she passed the guy, taking a basket from the front and making her way down the aisle of frogs and sweets. Her eyes never stayed on the sweets too long, her glances darting back to him every few minutes, like a weirdo. Ughhhh.

So much for nothing getting in her way today. . .

For Cinn/RJ

Cannnddyyyyyy!!

Lily bounced happily up to the displays of candy, her blue eyes quickly scanning over the various sweet things. She was looking for one thing in particular... well at least at first..

But where were they?

The twelve year old ran a hand through her dark hair and sighed softly as she bit her lip. Surely beans were a favorite right? She needed to get some for RJ.. to make sure he was well stocked this summer! Not to mention she wanted some for the year so she could produce them at various times and be the best girlfriend ever..

She tapped her blue heeled foot on the floor, and pulled her smooth braided ponytail over her shoulder.. still scanning the shelves for the ever prized possession of her boyfriend..

Having broken away from his dad yet again RJ made a straight line for the candy store. He knew he'd be caught soon but he was going to take the freedom while he could. As he walked by the window he grinned as he saw a familiar figure.

Quietly he walked into the store and toward her. "LILYPAD!!!!" he yelled as he wrapped his arms around his girlfriend tightly and lifted her up a bit. "What are you doing here?" He couldn't believe she was here. How funny.

"Well I was trying to be all stealthy and stuff.. and was going to buy you beans! For the summer and extra ones for the term! " She had a bit of a sheepish grin on her face.. "Cause how cool would I be when I just pulled some out for you eh? "

You know the problem with being a growing boy? They're always hungry.

Tenacius breezed into the sweets shop looking for some quick munchies. One hand grabs the basket, the other starts scooping in various merchs from the shelves. Any samples today? Yup that's being munched on already.

As he turned towards another aisle his blue-green gaze caught sight of his Hufflebud "Eh Henreh!" he called out between munches " Wzup bud? Whatchu got there?"he asks, stealing a peek at the Badger's shopping basket.

"Well I was trying to be all stealthy and stuff.. and was going to buy you beans! For the summer and extra ones for the term! " She had a bit of a sheepish grin on her face.. "Cause how cool would I be when I just pulled some out for you eh? "

RJ grinned as he heard her laugh and set her down carefully. Wouldn't want to hurt his girlfriend after all. Looking around his smile faltered a bit. Now he felt bad. He had ruined her surprise. Bad boyfriend he was.

"Oh...I'm sorry....I didn't ruin your plan." Way to go RJ. Maybe this is why you should stay with your parents instead of wandering off. "That would have been really cool. I'd be all 'I wish I had some beans...' and you'd pull it out and be all 'VOILA! Super girlfriend to the rescue!'" RJ laughed and looked at her with a small smile. "You get credit for the thought though. They're down that back row over there by the way." He pointed down the row and smiled. After all he practically lived at this shop so he knew where just about everything was.

"If you see my dad...will you hide me?" He asked looking over his shoulder expecting to see the giant heading his way. He had escaped but who knew for how long. Especially since he always came here.

Matilda had finally decided that she did not need escorting by her father into Diagon Alley and had made the very short journey in. Their new home was a lot closer than she thought it would be to the alley, but that didn't matter at all to her. New home, new neighbours and new places to explore! She had been really excited for the change and to move to England because it just seemed RIGHT. Her Dad had worked in this country for years now and it seemed silly for her mother and her to be living in America when the three of them could have just lived together.

Which now they were! And Dad was able to work still and Tilly was able to spend her summer trying to find new friends who went to her new school and then she'd KNOW people there.

YAY.

But after a few hours, it was definite that miss Matilda Allerby needed some SUGAR in her system. She'd noticed a lot recently that her father had the same sugar love that she did and it was SO great to have something in common with him, other than their love for her mother and his wife.

"Oooooooooh what to haaaaaaaaaaaaave?"

People had all kinds of weird traditions, his just happened to be stopping by the sweets store everytime summer rolled around. There was nothing wrong with that, was there?

N O P E.

With one hand in the pocket of his shorts and more cringe-worthy swag than he actually possessed, Phillip headed into the sweets store. He reached out his spare hand to grab a basket, almost instinctively, before heading off towards the shelves themselves. Chocolate frogs? Bertie Botts? Nah, it was all about the crystallised pineapples.

Grabbing a bunch of packets, the sixth year started dumping them into his basket. They were only for him, after all - selective sharing, remember? - so he could relish in the fact that they were going to be his go-to food while he studied for - HA - NEWTS. Frankly, he didn't think he needed to worry about that until NEXT year but if that gave him an excuse to buy extra sweets, then so be it.

And what exactly did they have that was new, eh? A little change wouldn't hurt.

It was sweeeeeeets time! Natalie walked into the sweets shop, fully intending to stock up on sweets for the next school year. Her mum was probably still looking at books, so she had time to buy all she wanted it. Her school shopping had been boring so far and she had her parents doing most of the work. She still had yet to see any of her classmates. She missed some of them already and had hoped to run into at least one of her friends...

Skipping right over the chocolates, Natalie headed for the sweet, fruity things and contemplated her selection. Hmm, there were sour things too. So many choices to make.

Jimmy had no idea WHAT it was about British candy, but it was just SO much better than the candy back home. He was going to stock up - but not TOOOO much. He had a figure to maintain after all. Still, he'd deserved it after those exams. He still hadn't gotten his scores, and he needed SOMETHING to keep his energy off, because stressing out over it was exhausting. And Jimmy could NOT pull off the exhausted look well.

Grabbing a handful of Sugar Quills, he wandered down one of the aisles and paused, glancing at a girl who stood nearby, wondering out loud about her own purchase. Jimmy grinned. HELLOOOOO, PRETTY GIRL ALERT!

It looked like the candy wasn't the only thing sweet in this shop...hehe. He made a mental note to use that line if the proper opportunity came about...

"I recommend the chocolate frogs. Classic, with the added bonus of the collectible cards," he spoke up, flashing her a grin as he moseyed up to her. All he had to do was flash the baby blues, and he was certain she'd be on his arm accompanying him to the Leaky in no time.

Coming to the middle of the aisle where the chocolate frogs were located Koen reached up to grab a few. It was only then that he realized he hadn't bothered to grab himself a basket. Letting out a huff of annoyance at himself he turned around and backtracked, without the chocolate frogs, to get himself a basket.

Making his way back down the aisle he passed right by the other boy the first time without much thought. Grabbing a basket he turned back around heading back the way he had just come from. This time remembering to grab a few sugar quills from one of the many barrels of candy that was set around. Those weren't for him at all but he had nearly completely forgotten that Hady had asked him to grab her some.

With the sugar quills in his basket he was ready to go get those chocolate frogs now. "Hey," he greeted the other boy simply as he passed by him yet again.

Even though she was on budget, but it didn't mean that Ava would skip getting some sugary treats from Sugarplums. There were so many school supplies that she needed to get for this year, including new sets of school uniform because she outgrew her old ones. If only she was not that stubborn and wanted to go back to her parents, maybe she still could ask some galleons from them. But the sixth year Gryffindor still had some pride so she decided to stay with Zhenny and got a part-time summer job.

Please don't spend too much, Ava. She muttered to herself once she entered the shop. As a huge sweet tooth person, this was not easy for her. But well... She had to grow up and control herself, right? Maybe some chocolate frogs and sugar quills were enough for now, how much all of those? Ava was too busy calculating her purchases in her head and didn't pay attention to her surrounding, including the possibility meeting someone's familiar.

Something pulled the young boy in this direction. He didn't know whether it was curiosity, the sound of children's laughter or just his general knowledge of where he could find sugar that brought him to Sugarplum's. And he really didn't care either way. He'd found heaven. Carlton's eyes lit up as he looked through the window at all the candy inside. As if in a trance, he left his parents talking to some old man he didn't know and walked towards the shop. Shoving the door open he lightly bumped into someone standing completely in his way.

"Yes. Excuse me. Yes, let me through. Yes. He murmured as he grabbed a basket. He would fill it. He would fill it to the brim. All he needed after that was money, but his parents would surely know where to find him once they noticed he'd wandered off. Surely.

He had never seen most of what was on display, which meant he had to try it. All of it. Plus he obviously wanted those he had already tried and liked.
Essentially he wanted it all. All of it. "You." He murmured as he began working his way through the different kinds, from the left allllll the way to the right, starting on the bottom shelf.

Nothing could have brought him back to reality. Nothing except his best friend. A blur of dark hair was to his right and he took the time to tear his eyes off the candy to look over at it. The dark hair was on top of a head. And the head belonged to Nat.

Carlton nearly dropped his basket half-full of candy on the floor in excitement. YAS YAS YAS YAS YAS YAS. Since he had lost the ability to speak because DOUBLE EXCITEMENT he simply attacked her from the side. One huge hug-tackle.

Fortunately, no candy was hurt in the process of this.

"NAT." He squealed, hugging her. They were in candy heaven together!! "It's ME. Carlton!" Just in case she'd forgotten about him.
Even though they'd kept in contact over the summer. Mmmh. Better be on the safe side.
