Every child in Wizarding Britain knows that Sugarplum's is the place to be. You can smell the sticky sweetness and bursts of flavour as soon as you walk through the door, the little candy themed bell, enchanted to transform into a different type of candy every hour, will tinkle merrily to announce your arrival, but we won't be surprised if you don't notice it, after all your eyes have a rainbow of delectable sweets to feast on.
Shelves among shelves of different types of wizarding sweets are ranged in aisles before you. The shelves stretch up to the roof and big glass jars display every type of candy imaginable. Can't reach? No worries! Just say the type of candy out loud and the jar will float down to you, ready to scoop out the required amount. Everything is labeled, so it shouldn't be too hard to find what you're looking for. There are a stack of baskets to the right of the last shelf - go ahead and grab one if you need it! There are four gumball machines near the exit to the sweet shop. If you have any knuts in your pocket that you are just dying to get rid of, why not buy a few gumballs with them? All you have to do is place two knuts inside the little slot, turn the knob, and watch as the gumball travels down the maze and to the little compartment at the bottom.
Once you've finished your shopping, you need to escort yourself to the check out counter located on the right side of the store. The shopkeeper can usually be found behind the counter, scooping and weighing sweets for the customers ahead of you.

Meredith held a large bag of sweets in her hand that she had just purchased at the counter. Sweets were something she didn't get to buy very often, but after saving her money she had finally been able to. Her fifth year was about to begin, which meant she'd have to take her exams at the end of the year. It was something she was not looking forward to. She walked to the exit of the shop, thinking about how and where to conceal the bag from the other residents at Stemp House when she came to an abrupt halt. She completely missed the other girl's apology because she was too preoccupied with slapping the top of the gumball machine in the hopes of causing her prize to fall down and only looked up when she heard her name. "I'm not doing anything!" she said, turning around and holding her hands up. "Sorry. I thought you worked here..."
Meredith recognized the girl from class and was certain they were in the same year. But her name had slipped her mind completely. "That's me, yea" she nodded, leaning her arm on top of the gumball machine to guard it in case a snot-nosed kid wanted to try it and claimed HER prize. "You're a Ravenclaw, right?"

The thought of her working at Sugarplum’s made her giggle a bit, Somehow she doubted she’d make a very good candy maker… though she did like baking. Maybe there was some overlap of the two skills? Never mind. “I’m just another customer.”
She shook her head in reply to the question. “No, I’m in Hufflepuff,” she said. Though she was flattered to be mistaken for a Ravenclaw. Most people thought she wasn’t smart enough for that house! “I’m Desiree,” she introduced herself, unsure if Meredith already knew her name. Her blue eyes momentarily flicked toward the gumball machine on which the other girl rested her arm. “Is there something wrong with that machine?”

Meredith removed her arm from the gumball machine and knelt down to turn the lever once more. "Yes, I think it is busted or! or! hear me out!" she suddenly jumped up to her feet and leaned closer to the other girl and held a hand before her hand before she whispered; "They are trying to scam us!" Maybe we can figure a way to get it out. I promise I won’t take your gumball.”

The brunette skipped right into the sweet shop as a kind gentleman held the door open for her. After waving a thank you at them, she waited patiently by the door, adjusting her white crop top and cute jean shorts. See, she’s typically not one to arrive early to places, she liked making grand entrances, but she wanted to be here when Betony arrived. This summer was a time for doing things that intimidated her, and getting over herself, and trying to be more confident. And of course, spending time with Violeta was perfect for that, because her best friend was the epitome of confident, and actually seemed to make Betony believe in herself a little more. She invariably had fun when they were together, and it made the Alley a lot less daunting, knowing she was meeting her there.
Which is why she slipped fairly easily through the crowd, and only had to wait, like, two minutes outside of the shop to ensure her heartrate had calmed down enough. Betony didn't expect Vio to be there already, and so when she pushed the door open she was surprised, and relieved.
"Violeta, hey," the red head grinned wide, one reserved for about two people in her life. "I hope you've not been waiting long." If Betony had had a watch, she would have been checking it, but alas, now she was just worried that she was late.

Whenever she was with friends her age or younger, her mind went on protective mode. Despite not looking like it due to her cute playful exterior.
"It's going," she said, toning it down a little as she led Betony down the chocolate aisle. "Quidditch is amazing. Home–it's a little loud with all of the babies." One toddler and twin babies to be exact. And that meant her parents' attention was focused on them because they were tiny, and Violeta understood. At least, she tried. "But it's okay. *abuelita = grandmother. "Can I come to one of your matches?" Betony asked, glancing at the shelves as they walked past. She still didn't completely understand Quidditch, but she'd read a lot of books about it, and whilst she wasn't anywhere near feeling ready to try and play, she was ALL about supporting her best friend. The mention of the sport made her think about bumping into Moe in the bookshop, and she smiled slightly. "Spending a lot of time with Moe?" she couldn't help but ask.
The mention of her grandmother sent a pang into Betony's heart, but she couldn't begrudge Violeta of the time spent with her. After all, she knew more than most that a relationship with a grandmother was the most precious. "I bet that will be nice," she said, thinking that it must be strange to be living so far from her now.
