Default Hogwarts Sorting & Resorting

Hogwarts Sorting & Resorting

SnitchSeeker prides itself on its sorting process. You won't find it duplicated anywhere else on the internet and it is not automated, instead every single sorting quiz submitted by our members is hand-sorted by our Hogwarts RPG Admin. While this means that your results are not immediate, it also means that you will get a far more accurate and personalised result, and the anticipation is fun too!

Whether you choose to take the quiz out of character (OOC) as yourself, or from the in character (IC) perspective of your intended Hogwarts RPG character, you are able to influence how the quiz might turn out - just as the characters in the books were able to influence where the hat put them.

We also offer an opportunity to re-sort into a different house after you have been active for a sufficient amount of time in your originally sorted house. Read below for more information on the sorting and re-sorting process.

Sorting is currently:

Read about the sorting here.

The Sorting
  • To be sorted, you need to be a member and have at least ten legitimate posts.(Please don't spam out of newbie status just to be sorted -your posts WILL be deleted and you WILL be unsorted if this happens,, and you will be required to begin the newbie process again until you show that you can follow the rules.)

  • The Sorting opens for all members shortly after each RPG school term comes to an end. We don't sort during the RPG school term because sorting in the books is at the start of the school year, and that is how we do it on SS too.

  • There is a box on the Front Page that shows school updates and the date of the next sorting. This information can also be found at the top of this very thread.

  • When the sorting opens, a news article will be posted. The article will provide you with a direct link to the sorting quiz. Simply answer all the questions in the quiz, submit it, and then sit back and wait as the sorting hat goes to work. When the hat has made it's decision, you will be contacted via a PM with your new house placement within 1 to 5 days.

  • Our sorting quiz is hand-sorted. This means that your answers are reviewed individually by our Hogwarts RPG administrator, and your responses are taken into account. Do be sure to read the questions carefully as you can only take the quiz once.

  • Getting sorted means that you will be able to participate in the School Role Play as a member of one of the four Hogwarts Houses, but if you want to be sorted and do not want to RP in the School, that is okay too.

  • In addition to the news article to announce the sorting, a site notice or announcement will be posted, so you won't miss it. The sorting is open for approximately two weeks and you can fill out the sorting quiz at any time during this period.

  • As a new member, the house in which you are sorted can not be changed. You will grow to love your house and you'll find your housemates very welcoming, so we do suggest you give it a chance! Our sorting is very accurate, so if you think you have been missorted it is most likely because you misread a question or didn't provide enough information on your quiz, so take your time with your submission, and you may be able to re-sort in seven terms time!

  • Please do not try to 'beat the system' by creating another account. Multiple accounts are against our site rules, and it is very easy to find out if someone has made additional accounts. You can read more about the rule against Multiple Accounts on here.

The re-sorting
  • This is ONLY open to members who have actively participated in the school RPG. The first time you resort, you must have participated for at least seven terms (that is approximately 2 and a half years real time).Any additional resorts you must have participated for 4 terms (approx 1 year, 3 months) for each time you resort.

  • A staff member recommendation is required, and you must not have any active infractions on your account.

  • The re-sorting is available at the same time as the regular sorting, and the re-sorting quiz will be linked in the sorting announcement in the site notices forum. You will need to follow the given instructions and provide evidence of your participation in the school RPG for the required terms in the form of links to your RP posts in lessons and around the school. If you need clarification or have any further questions about your individual eligibility, you can PM the current school RPG Admin, DaniDiNardo who has the final say regarding the eligibility of any potential re-sortees.
