SS Site Update
 

Dear members, mods, and SSer's big and small,

This update is far, far over due. Just like all of you, ole Touz and the admins get crazy busy, and busy and crazy... But better late than never, right? I know a few of you have gotten frustrated with me *cough you know who you are cough* for not getting to things in a more timely manner and to you, I am sorry. I assure you that I feel horrible about putting any of you off. I'd rather lick mud than have any of you think the Admins and I are putting you off. I promise, we're working hard and love you ALL so much it's bordering on ridiculous.


With that said, allow me to apologize for the length of this update. It's a big 'un, but all good stuff. So, take your time, read a section or two now, take a break, and finish it up later. Enough rambling from me -- to the updates:



1. Updated FAQ and SS Board Rules


The entire SnitchSeeker staff team split up the FAQ and Rules and updated all the information and rules. They are the rules that members (one and all) will be held to and expected to follow. The SS Board Rules are the law of the land. Everyone should read through the rules.

Notable changes:

• Inappropriate Topics
• Lewd and Sexual Behavior
• Profanity
• Signature Rules - There has been some recent issues over text limits. Double check!
• News FAQ
• Ministry FAQ

I wouldn't read those only, though! I know it's a lot to read, but take a day or two and skim through everything. Not knowing is a rule does not exempt anyone from a warning.

2. The Dark Mark

We had a a few requests from members (which sparked a very helpful and interesting discussion) to revive the Charing Cross Road (CCR) forums. For those members that don't remember or weren't around, the CCR was a forum for mature discussions of topics we normally do not allow on our site.

We took in all the suggestions from the members about a mature topic area on the site and have made forum for mature discussions about more controversial issues from the books.

The new forum is called The Dark Mark. Stop in and read the rules first. You can hit up Dainsie if you have any questions. Please take special note that all threads are moderated!

3. User Titles

Even longer ago we had a poll and discussion about how and when "tags" are given out on the site. With half of the members voting to keep the rules as they were, and the other half voting for a change - the admins and I were kind of stuck on the fence. Unfortunately, there is no way to keep the same rules and change them at the same time. Below is an excerpt of the updated SS Board Rules:


Custom user titles (aka 'tags') are the words beneath a member's usergroup icon. These words show the section of the site a moderator works in, the position(s) a member holds in a fan club, and/or some are special tags given by an administrator (such as a joke/for fun, winning a contest, etc.) Other tags contain images and designate positions in the School and Ministry role playing sections. The limit is four tags (including title images), except in cases where all four are official titles (this is when we will allow five, but only if it fits).

Unfortunately, tags cannot be requested by members - except during very special occasions. Please do not PM site moderators and administrators asking for a tag - be patient and your tag will come.


The rules haven't changed much, but allow me several... :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: 's in a row because the Admins and myself -- well, we heard you all loud and clear in that thread. Tags are given out much more liberally and.. in a fun way. Not sure if anyone has even noticed yet, but I wanted you all to know that we heard and responded.

4. Movin' and a Shakin'

Lastly, we've had couple of Admin's moving around in their positions that you may or may not have noticed. Allucha has stepped up and taken over the Forum's Manager position. He's been in this slot for a while now and I personally need to make a public acknowledgment to all the help he's been to me and to the great work he's been doing in the Forum's.

Also, at the end of the current school term, Cassirin will be moving from the Headmistress position to the Head of Fan Fiction. For as long as probably most of you can remember, Cassirin has been our Headmistress, so Miss Erin is also much due a huge thank you for all her hard work and dedication through the years. The Fan Fiction section is getting a gooder!


To take over the Headmistress/Headmaster position....

haha ok ok, this might help, i noticed that the place that eats my posts is in the new Snowed In forum :P
i tested it out in the TP and news thread and when i refresh my post is still there, but ive almost spammed in the Snowed In forum and *sniffle* its gone :/
