When is the Ministry placement?
Ministry Placements at SnitchSeeker takes place every 4 months, typically at the end of each in-character (IC) year, and remains open for approximately 2 weeks. The following are the tentative dates when the Ministry Placement will occur: February 1-15; June 1-15; October 1-15

The Placement process is very time consuming as each application is read and considered individually by a Ministry of Magic RPG admin as well as the department head team. Blocking off times each year to sort through applications allows for the team to remain on top of organization best. Additionally, SnitchSeeker's Wizarding World strives for consistency across the site-wide RPG plots and timelines, making new placements at the end of each IC year easiest to not interfere with the Hogwarts Sorting and other site-wide happenings.

How do I get a job in the Ministry?
When the Ministry Placement opens, an announcement will be made in the Site News. This announcement will provide you with a direct link to the Placement Quiz, which is to be submitted IC (In Character). In order to be placed, you need to have made at least 10 legitimate posts in the Platform 9¾ (Newbies) forum and be in the Member user group or one of the four Houses.

If you missed the Placement, don't worry. The Placement will be available again in another four months. Until then, you can enjoy the rest of the site!

How do I find out what department I'm in?
After you have been placed in a department, you will receive a private message (PM) from an SSRPG Admin or your Department Head.
For those doing Placement for the first time, you will receive a Ministry icon as well as the acronym for the department(s) you are in. For those having taken the Placement more than once, the acronym for the new department you are in will change.

The acronyms for the Ministry of Magic RPG are as follows:
Minister's Office :: MO
Department of Magical Law Enforcement :: DMLE
Department of Magical Accidents & Catastrophes :: DMAC
Department of Ecological Regulation & Protection :: DERP
Department of Magical International Cooperation :: DMIC
Department of Magical Transportation :: DMT
Department of Magical Games & Sports :: DMGS
Department of Mysteries :: DoM

Can I change departments/jobs?
Once a department and role has been given, you cannot immediately change it. We understand that sometimes we might not like the results that we are given, but it is important that you give your department and the role you were given a chance. All departments and roles are equally great, and the experience is what you make of it.

There is, however, the option of taking the Placement again for a different department during the next Ministry Placement. You should speak to your department head directly for any changes in position within the department you are placed in.

Any questions orconcerns regarding Placement should be sent to the Ministry RPG Admin via PM.

Why can't I see the Ministry forums?
If you are not able to see the Ministry forums, it is likely that the term has not started yet. When the term is not in session, the Ministry forums are hidden while the Ministry of Magic RPG admin and department head team perform the Ministry Placement. During this period an announcement will appear in the Site Notices. Please wait patiently for the Ministry forums to appear when it is time for the term to begin.

If the term has started and you are not able to see the Ministry forums, please contact the SSRPG Admins by PM.

When does the term begin/end?
The following are tentative term start and end times: February 11th - May 31st, June 11th - September 30th, and October 11th - January 31st.

Where is the Ministry Employee Orientation?
At the beginning each term, an Employee Orientation of some fashion usually place to welcome new and old employees to another year at the Ministry. Typically, a special forum for the orientation will be accessible in the SSRPG forum listing when it is running. These special forums usually remain open for a couple of weeks.

What happens if I miss the placement, orientation, etc.?
Don't worry if you miss the placement, orientation, or any happening that takes place in the Ministry. You can always read through them once they are finished and join us the next time these opportunities are available.

If your character is already employed at the Ministry, they can act is if they have been there the whole time.

The Ministry of Magic RPG also has it's own thread set aside specifically to help keep members abreast of what is going on in the Ministry of Magic RPG, the Gulping Gargoyles thread located in the RPG Resources forum.

Who is the Minister for Magic?
The current Minister for Magic is Charles Hollingberry, who is played by sweetpinkpixie.

Who are the Ministry department heads?
The Ministry department heads are played by selected site members. They can be identified either with an italicised, coloured Username and/or a department head icon in their profile.
.

The current department head staff can be found through the Section Managers by scrolling down to the Ministry Department Heads section.

How do I become a department head?
You are invited to become a department head by the Ministry RPG Admin. We do not advertise open positions and you cannot apply to become a department head. If you are interested in becoming a department head, the best way to improve your chances of being asked are to be polite and helpful to others on and off SS, use good grammar, frequently roleplay creatively around the Ministry, and engage with your fellow employees.

How can I get involved?
To become involved in the Ministry, just have your characters take an active interest in the goings on there. There are a wide array of places for them to complete the tasks their job ask of them, interact with numerous Ministry employees, and many nooks and crannies to be discovered. From time to time, there are events and plots that take place in the Ministry, some of which will lead to other happenings and/or carry over into the Diagon Alley or Hogwarts RPGs.

Do I have to start off as an intern/junior employee?
No, you do not have to start off at an intern or junior-level position at the Ministry. There are multitudes of jobs to choose from at varying levels. The Ministry RPG Admin and department heads determine your character's job at the Ministry based on the information provided during Placement (age, exam scores, experience, areas of expertise, etc.).

Can I role-play more than one character?
Yes! You can role-play up to as many characters/employees in the Ministry as long as you can keep up with them - but you may also choose to play only one character if that is your preference. It is strongly encouraged that you have them listed in your profile and differentiate characters while posting with different colours, fonts, etc. Please note that it is not possible to have two characters in the same department.

The Ministry of Magic forum is also open to the public, meaning that you are welcome to play any of your characters coming to visit, file a claim, or seek any sort of services from any of the departments. Be careful that not all threads are open to the public and there may be IC (or OOC) depending on the nature of the RP for posting in them!

Are there restrictions on what my character can be like?
There are no restrictions on what your character can be like, but keep in mind the age of your character and that the SSRPG takes place after Harry and gang have graduated. Employees at the Ministry must be of age and their jobs are based on their experience and knowledge. As for characters with special abilities (e.g., Animagus, Metamorphmagus, werewolf), we ask that you be realistic and know that there may be IC repercussions if the special ability is abused and should be approved by the Ministry RPG admin. Also note that there are some legal registrations that would have happened or licenses to require (Animagi, Legilimens, and second-wand owners are registered with Law Enforcement, known werewolves are registered with Magical Creatures, etc.).

If you are not sure what is or isn't allowed, simply ask the SSRPG Admin by PM.

Can I change my character during the term?
You may not change your character during the term. The character you start with at the beginning of the term is the one you will finish the term with. You cannot change characters until the in-between term period (when the Ministry is closed). Changing your character when the term is in session may result in post deletion, OOC suspension from the Ministry RPG until the next term, etc.

Will I get in trouble for viewing other departments/private areas?
Of course not! In fact, we encourage you (the out of character you) to view these areas as they will help you (the out of character you) figure out what is going on in the Ministry story. However, (and we can't stress this enough) you must remember that just because you (the out of character you) have access to this information, your character would not necessarily have access or be aware of what is going on. It is also encouraged that anything you happen to stumble upon in your browsing and stalking be reported to the Gulping Gargoyles thread.

What do I do if I have a problem with another employee?
If you have a problem with another Ministry employee, please don't argue or fight with them publicly unless you are willing to accept the IC consequences for those actions. PM a department head or the SSRPG Admin about your problem and allow them to deal with it. Severe arguments and the like are cause for punishment and/or firing from the Ministry if it is an IC issue; if an OOC issue, site warnings, infractions, and/or banning may occur.

What do I do if I have a problem with a department head?
If you are having issues with a particular department head, please PM a SSRPG Admin immediately.

What if I can't find an answer to my question?
You may ask any IC questions you may have related to the Ministry in any areas of the Ministry RPG, wherever and whomever makes the most sense for your IC questions to be asked and answered. These occurrences can create some great RP opportunities and are highly encouraged!

Any OOC questions or concerns you may have regarding the Ministry RPG should be directly PMed to Ministry RPG Admin or the appropriate department head.
