POV: Vashti Greenwell
December 2075
She hadn’t stopped thinking about the date since it had ended.
It had been a few weeks since, and Vashti needed to focus on this last minute Christmas shopping. But even as she scanned over the various items in this shop, the Advent calendars and sweets and assorted trinkets, her mind kept wandering back to that day spent in Hogsmeade with Anakin. The way it felt to hold his hand in hers, the way his smile lit up the room, the way that she felt like she could talk to him for hours…
She couldn’t keep the smile from her face as she reminisced.
There was something in the air during this time of year with the holidays and the new year right around the corner. Something that made it feel like a time of love and warmth and new possibilities.
And unbeknownst to her at the time, this would indeed be the beginning of something new and incredible.

Eight-year-old Lucy had convinced her newly-seven-year-old sister of an absolutely amazing gift for their parents. Maybe the best idea in the history of the WORLD.
Their parents had set a particular time in the morning for them to open presents, which Lucy thought was silly. She’d woken them up ONE time in the middle of the night, which was TECHNICALLY already Christmas morning, and suddenly they had to have a whole rule about when they could open their presents.
Well, Lucy was absolutely certain she and Kimmie could change their minds!
A piece of paper in hand, she tip-toed into the room with her little sister not long after the sun rose. They stopped at the end of their parents’ bed, and Lucy held the paper out in front of them both. She exchanged a grin with her sister…
…and then they launched into song with the gift of their own rendition of “Jingle Bells.”
Strangely, their parents were not as pleased to be woken up with Christmas carols as Lucy expected, and they instead sent them back to their room.
On the way back down the hall, Kimmie whispered, “Told you we should’ve done ‘The Little Drummer Boy.’”

“It’s my turn to watch something!”
“Is not!”
“Is too!” Luke insisted. He didn’t understand WHY his sister Kimmie was so stubborn. He wanted to watch something else and not whatever dumb show she’d picked.
Had he picked something earlier? Yeah. But so had she. So why couldn’t he pick again? He wanted to! That should be enough of a reason!
The argument between him and his sister carried on like this for a few minutes, until the warning sound of their mother’s voice came from the kitchen. “If you two don’t sort this out soon, neither of you are watching anything!”
Luke frowned. “See! Mom says you needa let me pick!”
“Nuh-uh, that means it’s MY turn!”
“Santa won’t bring you presents if you don’t let me!”
“No, Santa won’t bring YOU presents!”
“No-”
He stopped when their mom suddenly poked her head into the room, with THAT look on her face. “What did I say?”
Luke pouted, and his sister let out a huff.
She scowled at him. “I hope Santa brings you COAL for Christmas!”
The four-year-old gasped at such a horrifying insult. And then he promptly burst into tears.

POV: Lucy Amstern
December 2105
Sometimes Lucy forgot just how much work it took to decorate her place for Christmas. And it was absurd how much stuff she needed for all of it.
It was worth it once it was all done, but the actual steps to get there were the annoying part. Even more so when there was a toddler trying to get his hands on everything.
“Pretty sure it’s his naptime, Mrs. Myrna,” Lucy said as she tried to unravel two different strands of tinsel. “Could you…?”
“Of course.” The older woman smiled and scooped Zephyr up with ease. “Come along, little one.”
Zephyr fussed as he usually did before naptime, arms extended as he desperately tried to reach for the tinsel Lucy was working on. And then something unusual happened.
The red and green strands of tinsel suddenly unwound themselves and floated toward Zephyr.
The little boy looked delighted with the turn of events, but Mrs. Myrna stopped, and Lucy froze too, her jaw dropped.
Was… Was that Zephyr’s first sign of magic?!
