Welcome to the drabble challenge thread of Michelle and Alicia! 1. Sorting Hat
{Group 18, Prompt 01}

He was finally here.

Hogwarts.

Tiny, nervous and eleven years old, Jude wanted nothing more than to go back home to Addison, Connor and Keighley. Eyes that could barely meet anyone else scanned the sea of students already seated. He sought Reagan and found her. When she beamed at him, his confidence rose once more. Jude smiled back just as his name was called to be Sorted.

Before the Sorting Hat dropped over his eyes, he caught sight of a particular Ravenclaw. Though Jude didn’t know it at the time, he’d just had the first glimpse of his best friend.

26. Silver
{Group 4, Prompt 9}

There were a lot of moments that Evan supposed he had considered would happen eventually in his life time. Rites of passage, as they were. But one that he had neglected to ever consider - was perhaps the one that was occurring right now.

Peering into different glass containers, Jude seemed to gravitate towards the silver rings. Evan just followed along after, figuring he knew best what his boyfriend would like and he was here simply as moral support. And when a ring was found for Davet, Evan grinned at him. "I'm really happy for you."

And he meant every word.

27. Dress Robes
{Group 18, Prompt 04}

“Dress robes for formal occasions,” Jude recited, revolving on the spot slowly before the full body length mirror. He looked dashing in robes of pale pink with silver glitter woven into the fabric.

“Come on, Ev! Let’s see you!” Why was the bestie taking forever to exit the changing room?

“I don’t like-”

There was a dramatic gasp from Jude. “You look GORGEOUS!” Midnight blue robes suited Evan perfectly. “Just need to fix this.” He adjusted the collar of the robes. “Perfect! You’re going to have all eyes on you.”

That’s not what Evan wanted but it couldn’t be helped.

28. Mooch
{Group 5, Prompt 5}

Evan was a sixth year now and didn't need to study as much as the year prior. But Jude, was a fifth year - his OWL year - and he was determined to help him study.

Ev sat at the table one day with the Hufflepuff, flashcards in hand as he quizzed Jude - every once in awhile a hand darting out to grab a jelly bean from the ones Jude had placed on the table.

After about 20 times of this, Jude laughed as he pulled back the beans. "Now I know why you offered to help, you mooch!"

Evan just grinned.

29. Nocturnal
{Group 04, Prompt 10}

Jude slid into the seat across from Evan at The Leaky Cauldron with a yawn.

“S-sorry,’’ he began. A survey told him that Evan, too, was in the same boat in terms of tiredness.

“Late night studying, Ev?”

“Plus completing an assignment.”

“Yuck!” Jude made a face. “Too bad I wasn’t there to help. It could have been us studying together just like the old days!”

“That’s okay. I take it that rehearsals are still in full swing? That’s why the bags under your eyes have bags as well?”

“Ha! But yes… rehearsals.”

“How did we become such nocturnal humans?”

30. Pensieve
{Group 20, Prompt 1}

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Jude asked, triple checking, though Evan could hear the amusement in his friends tone.

No. "Yes." The Ravenclaw answered, putting his wand to the tip of his temple and drawing out a memory. He didn't remember a lot, but he knew it had happened so he figured he ought to know details. Dropping the memory into the pensieve, Evan leaned down to view, before he quickly righted again and looked at his friend.

"Wait! I thought you said I didn't excrement in the castle when I was an alpaca!"

Jude cackled.

31. Wood
{Group 09, Prompt 05}

“Important question,’’ Jude announced as he and Evan slid into a booth at a quaint Muggle diner. “Will you be my bestman?” The wedding was not until late summer but… “I figured I’d give you enough time to mull it over. So if you say ‘no’, I’d have time to find someone else.” Jude was grinning, letting Evan know he was joking about the latter. But he did discreetly tap on the wooden table with his knuckles for good luck.

“Are you kidding? Of course I will be!”

“Just remember that human Evan needs to be there. Not alpaca Evan.”

32. Chocolate
{Group 15, Prompt 3}

There was only one thing that could calm 13-year-old Evan's anxiety as he made his way back to Hogwarts for another year.

Chocolate frogs.

The quiet Ravenclaw had made his way to the trolley immediately, purchased himself 15 frogs, and was making his way through them. Open, immobilize, eat.

He was halfway through the pile when the door opened, and he looked over to spot a younger Hufflepuff - stuck between a look of surprise and a shy smile. "Oh u-um sorry." He replied, and before Evan could say anything, he was gone.

He could only assume it was chocolate mustache.

33. Remembrall
{Group 20, Prompt 07}

“Fascinating, aren’t they?” sixth year Jude asked. He waved the Remembrall. “I don’t need it because I’m not forgetful but it’s still cool to have.” Jude could not explain his newfound obsession with the object. Maybe it was just a phase. “Too bad you can’t use it during exams… not that you need it for NEWTs with that big brain of yours.”

Evan laughed. “This big brain isn’t going all out this- oh, look. It’s changing colour.”

Jude’s grin faltered as red smoke began swirling within the Remembrall. “What did I forget?”

“I dunno. Someone’s birthday?”

Jude was completely flummoxed.

34. Overdue Library Book
{Group 06, Prompt 02}

“Why are you panicking?” inquired Evan as he watched Jude rummage through his bag.

“I swear I had the Potions book I borrowed from the library in my trunk but it's not. And it's not in my bag either. Did you borrow it, Ev?”

“Nope.”

“It’s overdue too…” Jude slumped beside his best friend.

Evan pulled out his wand. “Accio Jude’s library book!’’ A leather covered book came zooming out of the depths of Jude’s bag. The Hufflepuff caught it, looking stunned but sheepish.

“Oh… there you are, book.” Relief was now written all over his face. “Thank you, Ev!”
