Arcius sat, organising files and placing them back in their correct cabinet, for what felt like others. He wasn't sure what to make of this task - perhaps he was lucky to have it so easy on his first day. Then again, he had hoped for a little more excitement. But a job is a job.
He glanced around at the other employees doing exactly the same as him, wondering who else who new and what they thought of this 'activity'.

Vivienne nodded as the filing was finally completed and the table was vacant of files for the first time since she took over the department. Now they could move on to real work - inspecting the Veil. She pulled out a few clipboards on which there was a standard form for the routine inspections. "Well done. Eet iz nice to see zee tabletop, yes?" she smiled and sat the clipboards on the table. "Eet iz now time to inspect zee Veil. I 'ave a clipboard for each of you. Please take one and zee self-inking quill."

Gabriella entered the room..She is very nervous..She's a new employee after all..Everybody was busy talking to each other..She slowly said 'Hi'..But nobody seemed to have heard her..

"Ah, 'ello! Welcome to zee department," Vivienne greeted the woman cheefully and extended her hand. "I am Vivienne Beauvais, zee 'ead of zis division."

Gabriella said 'Thanks..Nice to meet u..' shaking hands with her. Vienna is very friendly though she is the head of the department.., she thought..She was very nervous..Hermione,how I wish u were here too...
she thought..

"Likewise," Vivienne cheerfully replied and looked at the other employees. "Now, zee Veil can be a leetle spooky. Zere are always voices coming from eet. Zis is normal. Zee area iz also cooler zan zee rest of zee room. Are zere any questions before we begin?"

June walked in hesitantly.She looked around at everyone and said a "Hello" with a courteous smile.

Arcius marched into the Death Chamber, his black cloak billowing behind him as he walked briskly. His heeled boots clicked loudly with each step, a sound that echoed throughout the Death Chamber.
Standing before the Division Head, he cleared his throat.
'Hello,' Arcius began. 'I'm Arcius Moonseed, reporting for duty.'
He released afterwards that sounded a little corny, but he flashed one of his signature toothy grins none the less.

"Welcome to the Department, Moonseed. Your desk is over there", Lillian says as she stops typing, looks at Arcius, then points over to the desk about 6 feet away. "Hopefully it is to your liking."
She turns back to her typing.

"No more typing," Vivienne called out. The clackety sound was echoing in the cavernous room and they needed silence in order to conduct the inspection of the Veil. "Grab a clip board and please stand by me. Today, we are inspecting zee Veil."

June went ahead and reported for duty

Arcius smiled at the witch.
'Thank you, Miss...' he glanced around, hoping to spot a name plate on her desk. Slightly flustered, he smiled again and walked over towards his desk with another 'Thank you.'

Vivienne stood there and watched two more employees ignore her. "EHEM!" she said loudly and the sound of her heeled foot tapping the floor echoed in the quiet chamber. " 'Ello? Can everyone pleeze follow ze programme? Clipboards, now!" As she spoke in her heavily accented voice, the room unexpectedly dropped in temperature. An eerie whistling noise caused the division head to turn her head towards the Veil.

Arcius jumped slightly at the booming voice of the Division Head, although he managed to quickly recover.
Picking up a clipboard, he turned to face the veil, awaiting further instruction. Was it just him or was the room beginning to feel colder?
Either way, he couldn't stop a shiver from washing over him.

She turned and started walking towards the Veil. But Vivienne stopped abruptly in her tracks and began taking frantic notes on the temperature fluctuation. "Arcius, walk around the other side and make notes on any temperature changes you encounter," she said calmly despite feeling the exact opposite. It hasn't done this in months! And her instincts were telling her to run.

Tripping lightly back into her place of work, Alyss was struck by the amount of bodies that were around the area. Walking up to Vivienne, she placed a light hand on the older woman's shoulder. "Is anything the matter?" She asked, eying the veil up considerably. It didn't seem... Right. Almost as if someone or something had tampered with it.

Slightly perplexed at such a request, Arcius nodded his head and walked over to the other side of the Death Chamber, the clicking of his heels echoing as he walked.
The coldness he'd felt on the opposite side of the room was nothing compared to the freezing chill that enveloped him.
His hands shaking at the sudden drop in temperature, Arcius began jotting down notes on the strange conditions.

It seemed as if the Veil were speaking directly to her. So she approached it carefully in order to hear the ghostly whisper more clearly. WHOOSH! And Vivienne clearly heard the words 'GET OUT'. Her blue eyes were wide and she hurried to the door. "Zat is eet! No more creepy for me!" she shouted and dropped her clipboard with a loud clatter on the floor as she scooped up her Chanel purse. Then she took off her Division Head badge and sat it on her desk. "Good luck!"

With a wave, the Frenchwoman hurried down the corridor and disappeared into the lift clutching her designer handbag and whispering something in French as the doors closed.

Ohh. Dear.

Looking at the door that Vivienne had just exited through, Alyss almost fell over. They'd just lost their department head. What was going on? Any one? Looking across the veil at Articus, she sighed. "Do you have any idea what to do about this?" She called, her hands sliding into the pockets of her skirt.

Looking around in worry, Lillian began to wonder what they do now.
"So .. do we need to find someone to help us or what?" she said in a shy way

Death chamber.

Marina Effron had wanted to work in a place like this for ages. Working, as Deputy Headmistress, in a magical school of repute had been a task demanding, but simply not demanding enough - This, now, was her big chance.

The twenty-something female made her way into the place, tucking behind a loose strand of hair as she did so. What she had planned was a cheerful greeting, something that went along the lines of telling everybody her name, and following it with the fact that she was their new Division head.

Guess what?

She never had a chance.

Because the first face she saw looked.. not too happy. The second she saw looked even less happy. A little unsettled, the young woman composed herself immediately. "Is everything alright?" she asked, looking around.

What a way to start a new job!

Turning from the veil, Articus and Lillian, Ayss swiveled around on the new-comer. Pleeease, God say this isn't a new employee who doesn't know what they're doing. Arching an eyebrow at the woman, Alyss shrugged. "Oh, well, not too badly, y'know, our department head just ran out for unknown reasons, there's voices coming from the veil and it's showing odd temperatures.." She pursed her lips and shrugged again...

God she was tetchy today.

This was not how she wanted to start this job.

Marina took a moment to scan the room, wondering what exactly she was supposed to do now. What about that little chat with everyone she had planned on, the friendly introductory round and, maybe, a cup of tea?

To begin with - "I believe Vivienne has resigned from her position as Department Head," Marina explained, having just heard the news.

And the veil. Marina's eyes flitted towards it and, as they did so, she was sure she heard a voice. Was it - was it his voice? Come here, Rina. We can do this together. She felt pulled towards the archway, so pulled.... With a sudden effort, the young woman forced herself to look away.

"There is definitely something wrong with that veil," she said, her tones strangely calm. "I -" What was she doing? She needed to take charge, do something about this veil thing! "I think it would be better if I started with the introductions," she said, trying to smile at Alyss. "I'm Marina Effron, the new head for the Death Chamber."

But she hadn't heard his voice for so long. . .

Nodding slightly at the newcomer, Alyss couldn't of been less prepared for her news about Vivienne. The Frenchwoman had been amazing, truly mad and you never knew what she was going to get you to do next, but she was pretty together, how could she of just up and quitted the department? It was odd. The death chamber wasn't that bad, heck, she'd dissected bodies in the room before...

Okay, point proven.

Eying the unknown woman for a bit, she saw that similar glazed look take over her eyes for a moment that had been in Vivienne's just as she left. "Uhh..." But her unspoken advice hadn't been needed as she turned around, Alyss almost sighed... It was odd working with something she was scared of, it had never happened to her before.

No duh. Ohhh. Very British. If we're all going to die here/have our wits removed from us together, we might as well know each other's names. Her lips curving instinctively into a smile, "Well, 'bout time we had a division head back here," She extended a hand, "I'm Alyss Glass."

The voice still rang in her ears.

Come here, Rina. We can do this together. So long, so long. . . But Marina no longer looked dazed. Quite the contrary, actually - the young woman looked absolutely composed now, and there was something like interest in her eyes.

She turned her attention back to Alyss, and her heart lightened at Alyss's smile. Wonderful, how a simple curve of the lips could make one feel so better, wasn't it? Marina already felt pretty awesome! "Alyss - That's a pretty name," she said pleasantly, taking the hand offered and giving it a polite shake. She looked around again, then asked, "Didn't you have a division head, before?"

Gosh, there sure was a lot she didn't know about this place.

But how could she possibly have known that?
