Blair listened to Samantha, deeply shocked. She had gotten a feeling that something wrong was going on while she had made her trip to Hogwarts but she would have never imagined that it was something this bad. She had thought that maybe a fight had broken out and caused the tension she had felt moments before she had arrived. When Samantha asked Eve to do the job of investigating this serious issue, she couldn't think of a person better suited for the job. "Eve I think it would be a splendid idea if you went. You're the probably the best person out of the three of us to go, in my opinion. You deserve to go for sure." Blair smiled glad that Eve was given a chance to go out to Hogwarts.

Eve looked at Blair when she spoke.She smiled broadly."Really..."she asked.She smiled"Thank you.."She said,she was very exctied and quite proud that her colleges thought she was suited for the job.She was going to have the chance to help look for these children and she couldnt wait.She got up and hugged Blair for being so supportive"Thank you."she said

Blair laughed. "Of course, " Blair hugged Eve back and smiled "Now you go help those kids out! We'll be thinking of you, and good luck!"

Eve grinned,she was greatful she had a very supporting team of hard working colleges behind her,and she was truly greatful! She nodded."Ill see you lovely ladies soon..."she smiled and left.

Samantha left her very long, but very important, parchment on the front of the office for everyone to read.

Blair read the parchment that Samantha had left with great seriousness and smiled at the end of it. Finally! A job that isn't somewhat depressing! Also, creating the new OWL and NEWT tests for the students put a smile on her face, and made her laugh as she remembered herself taking those horrid test back in school, now she was one of the people that made them. Blair set off to her desk and pulled out another peice of parchment and pulled her quill and ink well out from a drawer in her desk. She tapped her quill against her chin in thought, before scratching down any ideas that she had.

Then she remembered the other part of the task that Samantha had set them with. The questionare to see if others would like to come and work with them in the Department. What qualities would be needed for a person to easlily fit in here as well as be able to handle the tasks that were layed out before them.

Blair opened her mouth to speak, but saw that no one was in the office. Sighing she began to scribble down random ideas and thoughts hoping that Eve or Gigi would be there to talk things out with. She would just have to wait until someone came back.

Eve,walking back into the office she loved more than anything,one of her favourite rooms she knew off,wearing a casual suit,she strolled to her desk.After the last assignment,she was proud of her team,and she enjoyed being in the department very much.She missed Blair and Gigi while she was busy sorting out the missing childrens case and she hadnt seen them in a while.She flung open the doors and looked around."Blair!" she exclaimed happily.

Blair jumped when she heard the sudden outcry of her name. She looked up furious, wondering who on Earth could have been making such a racket but then she smiled instantly. EVE! My Merlin! How have you been? It seems like I haven't seen you in ages!

Eve grinned as she walked over to her and Blairs desk.There desks were quite near eachother so it was easier to talk to her,instead of screaming across the room."Ive been good,thank you..how about you? I know..we havnt seen eachother in forever..!"She laughed.

Samantha walked into the office, happy to find her staff there and working. "Good morning," she said. "I am just here to check how everything is going here. As you ladies will have noticed, we do have some tasks we are currently working on, and I would be more than happy to brainstorm with all of you over these issues. Of course, myself and both my committees are working on these very important tasks, so I would like to invite each of you to come to my office and offer any suggestions you may have about how to accomplish these things any time you would like. My office is always open to any of you, I'm always here for you. Once again, we are working on the transfer form and the examinations for the OWL and NEWT tests. As usual, there are always refreshments available in my office." She smiled. These were the most important tasks that her office had been asked to do to date, and she wanted to make sure that everything was done properly and in a timely manner. After all, that was her job.

"It has been a bit of a while hasn't it? Well I've been holding down the fort." Blair smiled, glad to see Eve again. It was then that Samantha walked into the office and made a little announcement about the assignments they had been given. "Oh, speaking of which did you read the notice we got from Samantha about the new tasks we have? I think they're going to be fun to work on."

Samantha stepped into the office and stood near the front. "Good morning, ladies," she said. "I am here to offer everyone a little insight and help with the project we are currently working on, which is the OWLs and NEWTs. As you know, I have issued a memo regarding the project, which will be hugely beneficial for Hogwarts students for many generations to come. Our old exams are currently out of date."

Samantha pointed to the memo which she had left in the office before -

Samantha continued. "Now, the idea for these exams is that each of them consists of separate parts, one for each of the subjects which are currently taught at Hogwarts. As I'm sure all of you know, these subjects are Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, Flying, Herbology, History of Magic, Muggle Studies, Potions and Transfiguration. So, there are going to be 13 separate parts to each exam, and the person taking the exam isn't required to take all 13 parts, of course! Only the part or parts which they want to receive their OWL or NEWT in. Is that clear so far?" Samantha looked around. "The NEWTs are more difficult than the OWLs, so the questions for that exam are going to be a bit tougher. She paused a moment. "It might be useful to speak to some of the Hogwarts professors to get ideas on what some of the questions and physical exercises should be on this test," she said.

She went on. "So, the way we are planning to do each of these 13 parts is to include questions which the person taking the exam will answer in written form, but we also want there to be a practical part of the exam, as well, where they perform a certain physical task which is assigned. Each of you would be allowed to assist the person taking the exam with the physical part, and the test would be conducted here in this department."

"So now you have a basic understanding of what we are looking for," she concluded. "Are there any questions, suggestions, anything? I would like to start on this project as soon as we are able to get started on it. It will take some work, but I know it will be worth it, as this is something we can be proud of for years to come."

Samantha added one final thing. "I am placing a new employee on this committee," she said. "Ladies, you are now joined by a gentleman. This is J.J. Starr, who has just been transferred here." She indicated the new arrival.

Hello my real name is Joe Jon Montceanaggio ( J. J. Starr) and I am happy to be working here. "Whaever you need Miss Rose, I will help you. Miss Rose will be wrorking ith oters in this assigment or with others? J. J. Starr asked

"The only ones who will be working on this project are the four of you plus the three ladies from the Examinations Authority and myself," Samantha said. "So that makes just the eight of us who will be doing all the work on this. Since it's something that hasn't been done in so long we are kind of breaking new ground on this, so I'm very definitely willing to work with all of you and figure out any ideas you might have in putting this all together. If any of you would like to make a trip to Hogwarts to interview any of the teachers on this, just let me know."

Eve nodded at J.J."Nice to have you on board.."she said,smiling.Eve sat at her desk,thinking about all the things that they could put in the N.E.W.TS and O.W.Ls for the children in Hogwarts.She turned to Blair."Have you come up with anything so far...?"she asked.She needed some inspiration from somewhere,but she didnt know where.She thought it might be a good idea,as Sam mentioned,to speak to the professors,maybe they might know what sort of things they would like in the exams,because they have been the ones teaching certain subjects,so they know the children better than anyone.

Samantha smiled at the group. "I think this is a project much like having writer's block, once we get started on it, get the first few words down, I think we will be fine. Let's all brainstorm together and see what we can come up with!" Samantha took a seat, prepared to stay and work for a while. This reminded her of her old days when she did this sort of research and compiling work, much like her present staff. How she missed those days at times!

Eve nodded at Sam."I think your right..once we've got the first few ideas down,all the ideas will just start to roll.."she said,sitting back,tapping her pen.She thought for a few moments."I think we should keep the thery exams on the subjects that you cant do any practical on..if you see where Im coming from..keep it to a minium.."she said,"For instance,for all the subjects that there can be practical..we do practical tests,for one,we know they acutally understand what there doing,because anyone can read from a book and memorize it,it doesnt mean you've learnt it,and two,it keeps the children active..not always stuck in a hall in rows all day.."she said,taking a breath from her little comment

"That's an excellent idea!" Samantha beamed at Eve. "Yes, that is exactly the kind of thing I am looking for and you are right, practical applications would be so much better than just simply putting down questions that anyone could find the answer to in a book but that doesn't mean that they can actually perform the required exercise. I believe we should concentrate on practical applications as much as we possibly can. This will also give us Department employees more of a chance to interact with the people who are coming in and taking the exams, which could be a really interesting thing for us, as well. We are on the right track!"

Samantha thought for a minute. "We could start anywhere, but let's begin with a simple transfiguration exercise. The student's job is to conjure up a bunch of flowers. Now, the spell for that particular exercise is orchideous, but there is a certain hand movement involved in the conjuring of the flowers or it won't work properly. The secret is all in the hand movement. Students would have to demonstrate a profiency with that hand movement and prove that they can complete the exercise by actually doing it!"

Eve nodded and smiled,feeling pretty chuffed at her approved comment.She thought about all the subjects that the students did practical in and all the subjects that you could only do theory in."So .."she said,looking at Sam."We just need to divide the subjects into 2 groups,Practical and Theory,and then all we have to do is set a date for the Exams and sort out the questions.."she said,nodding at looking at Sam.

"Sounds hard to me Eveyln" J. J. Starr tells her

"It's not going to be as hard as it seems," Samantha smiled. "There are some subjects, such as Arithmancy and Ancient Runes, where the exercise has to be done on paper, just by the nature of the subject. With Arithmancy the name and birth information could be provided for some person and then calculations could be done based on that information. With Ancient Runes, I would suggest translating a sentence into English that is written in Runes, and then taking a regular sentence in English and writing it out in Runes. Those are actually kind of practical exercises in a way, but I think we see the difference. Astronomy, Charms, Potions, DADA, Transfiguration, Flying are all practical subjects, whereas Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, and History of Magic are probably written. What about subjects like Divination, Muggle Studies, Herbology and COMC, though? Should those subjects be practical or written?" Samantha was feeling really excited about this project now!

"So we are writing tests? J. J. Starr asked.

"Yes, we're going to write the tests up eventually, but right now we are just kind of putting everything together," Samantha explained. Samantha paused a moment as an owl flew into the room. "Hold on," she said, taking the parchment from the owl's leg.

Samantha recognized the seal on the parchment and opened it immediately, knowing the message it was extremely important. She read it carefully, then turned to address her employees. "Everyone, I am sorry to interrupt this project, but something has come up. We have all been invited to the wedding between the Minister of Magic and his childhood sweetheart Belle, so we are going to take a break from this and get back to it later. At least we have a good start. Go, enjoy the wedding and reception, all of you! Just go to security, sign the guestbook and have a great time! Don't forget to dress appropriately and bring a gift. Remember - purple or black attire only for this wedding!" Samantha wanted to get ready for the wedding, as well, it had nearly slipped her mind.
