| | | Brewing Regulations Respect the Craft
Brewing is an exact science. Treat the discipline, the ingredients, and your peers with the seriousness they deserve. Precision Above All
Potions fail for two reasons: carelessness and arrogance. Measure, stir, cut, and time exactly as instructed unless you can justify a deviation. No, "I thought it would be interesting" is not justification. Preparation
Arrive on time, in uniform, with wand, quill, parchment, and assigned texts. Missing equipment is not an excuse to disrupt my class. Borrowing ingredients without permission is theft. Cauldron must be deposited in the appropriate location in the Potions Laboratory on the first day of school and are to be retrieved and placed at your station before class begins. Cleanliness
Keep your workstation tidy. Contamination ruins results and endangers lives. You are responsible for cleaning your bench, cauldron, and tools before class begins and again upon its conclusion. No Unauthorized Experiments
You are here to learn, not improvise. Attempting to brew outside of the lesson plan without approval will earn immediate removal from class. Conduct
Raise your hand before speaking. Respectful discourse is encouraged, snide commentary is not. Brewing requires focus. No Food or Drink
Do not eat, drink, or chew anything during lessons. Cross-contamination is both dangerous and idiotic. Diligence
Accidents happen, but negligence will not be excused. Record everything, even your mistakes. They may prove more instructive than success. Vanishing Charms are Strictly Prohibited
Vanished potions are vanished accountability. I expect you to face your mistakes, analyze them, and neutralize your work properly.
Vanishing may remove the liquid, but it does not always dispel the magical essence. Residues can linger, warp reagents, and trigger unpredictable reactions—explosions, contamination, or worse. This is the Law of Magical Conservation.
A muttered incantation in my classroom is the swiftest route to detention and a heavy loss of house points. OOC Guidelines:
Hello! My name is Katherine and I am the person behind the character that is one Professor Elliot Cox. I look forward to interacting with all of you through the unique lens that the professor-student relationship and hope we can make lots of fun RPG memories together. To accomplish that, I have a few things I ask you to keep in mind: Post Titles
To help me keep track of who is who in lessons, I would appreciate it if you could title at least your first post in my lessons with your student character's name and house. If you get in the grove of doing so, adding this information to each lesson post is also fine but not expected. This is a small thing that can help keep everyone straight on who is attending and ensures the right house gets the right points. That being said, I am only human and might write Cox calling your character by the wrong name. If/when this happens, let's have a good laugh at it, shake it off, and move on. General Rules
All SSRPG Hogwarts Rules and SS Site Rules apply here. IC vs OOC
As I said in the very begging, I am a person and Professor Cox is a fictional character ― we are not one in the same just as your character (IC) and you (OOC) are not the same. IC actions can have consequences in the scope of the SSRPG universe and should not be interpreted as personal attacks. Plagiarism
Use your own words. You can reference the SS archives, Google, or other Harry Potter sources, but answers should come from your character’s voice, not copied text (this includes AI generated text). Creativity counts more than perfection. Editing Posts
Once you post, it should stay the way it is unless you need to fix a coding, spelling, or grammar issue. Changing your answer after posting is a no-go and Hogwarts faculty do have a means of verifying this. Multiple Characters
Unless otherwise specified, only one student character per lesson please. There will be opportunities for you to bring more than one of your voices to the party and you will be notified when such occasions arise. Realism & Creativity
Consider your character’s age, knowledge, and experience. Younger students won’t know everything, older students might overthink. I've been that RPer bending over backwards to make sure my character gave the most elaborate and correct answers in every lesson, playing the Hermione in the room, and I want to assure you that you do not need to do that.
Lessons are worth a total of 40 points and correct responses will not earn more than incorrect ones. These points are less IC and much more OOC nods to you in appreciation for your participation because participation is what will earn you points. Have Fun
Perhaps the most important rule in the book. I'm excited to RP with you, cheer on your creativity, and see your characters shine (whatever that manner of shine might be).
