Scratch that, he’s a control freak.
Hermione puts up with his controlling ways, of him telling her what they’re doing, where to go, etc. Then out of nowhere, a girl switches into their classes and Harry seems to start to grow a crush on this girl. Hermione is jealous and angry, so she decides to use Draco (his idea actually) to get back at Harry and make him jealous.
Will Harry come to terms with how he acts? Will he win Hermione back? Will Hermione really fall in love with Draco despite her promise to herself? Or will everything go down the tubes for Hermione because she realizes Harry isn’t truly worth it...?
Song: Everything I’m Not by The Veronicas.
NOTE: Harry isn’t seen much as a control freak in the beginning, but it’s more because of what comes up later... that and there isn't all that much yet, but it'll get a better.
And this is my first full Sa16+ F.F (I’ve done one-shots, that’s it).

Chapter 1
Nearly Late...
“Don’t forget Crookshanks, Hermione!” Jane, Hermione’s mom called after her daughter with the tabby in her hands.
“Thanks,” Hermione said as she took Crookshanks from her mother’s arms.
She quickly said goodbye again and jumped onto the train with two minutes before the doors were planned to close. It was the first time she was this late for the Hogwarts Express. In her mind, it was the first (legitimate) black mark on her previous 6 years at Hogwarts, and she hadn’t even gotten there yet!
Hermione walked down the open expanse, looking into each compartment to find Harry and Ron. Over the summer, she had been the one Harry went to when Ginny refused to take him back once he was able to. Because of it, their friendship had grown until Harry brought it to the next level. Since then, they have been together.
Throughout the summer though, Hermione noticed Harry had changed when around her though. He started telling her what she shouldn’t do, when to wake up, even what to eat. She was surprised, but didn’t say anything, she only assumed he cared enough to tell her these things.
Looking into the next compartment, Hermione saw a messy head of black hair in the window. She smiled and opened the compartment door and let Crookshanks go. He jumped out of her arms and jumped onto the seats and rubbed against Harry. Harry scratched behind Crookshank’s ears and let him prowl away.
“Hey, Mione,” he said when a warm smile upon seeing her lugging her things inside the compartment. She threw her things inside wordlessly and then sat next to Harry.
“Hello,” she said just before Harry kissed her. “How was the remainder of the summer for you?”
“Boring... I wish you stayed at the Headquarters, it was more enjoyable when you were around.”
“I had to see my parents at least once this summer, Harry,” Hermione responded pointedly. “Besides, it’s not like I’d miss out on tanning on the beaches of California to stay in a grimy house.”
“So that’s where this beautiful glow came from,” Harry said as he stroked Hermione’s cheek. A slow smile started to form on Hermione’s face, but quickly dropped when he said, “I still don’t see why it had to be a whole month though.”
“They’re my family, Harry,” Hermione replied defensively.
“Uh... good mornin’...?”
Hermione pulled away from Harry and looked over her shoulder. A pallid, half-asleep Ron stood at the compartment doors, watching curiously.
“Have a good sleep, Ron?” Hermione asked with a smirk as he attempted to pull his things inside.
“Yeah, like always,” he responded sarcastically as he threw his remaining smaller trunks onto the shelves. He sat across from Harry and Hermione.
“How’d you muster the strength to get out of bed if you’re that tired walking?” Harry joked.
“I don’t even want to think about that... anyways, how’re you two? Still at each other?”
“What?”
“How’re you two doing?” Ron rephrased quickly, smiling brightly.
“Good. Mione nearly missed the train though,” Harry said simply.
“I’m sorry if Crookshanks wasn’t where he was before,” Hermione snapped.
“I told you to get ready early in case something like that happened,” Harry pointed out with a hard edge.
“Funny, coming from you...”
“Guys, can’t you two ever have a conversation without arguing?” Ron cut in.
Harry and Hermione looked at Ron, shocked. Crookshanks went up to Ron and welcome him to the room.
“What...?”
“Out of all the people, that’s all,” Harry said as he got up. He reached up and started to pull down his trunk from the shelves that hung above the seats.
“People can change,” Ron responded defensively.
“That’s been dually noted,” Hermione said. “So how was your remaining summer for you?”
“It went well, I finally got to sleep in a bit for the last few days at least, but mum actually surprised us all when we went to Diagon Alley...”
“What’d she do?” Hermione asked eagerly.
“She bought a cat,” Harry concluded as he dropped his trunk onto the floor.
“I was telling the story,” Ron mumbled.
“It’s ok, Ron. So what kind of cat? What colour? Like Crookshanks or totally different?” Hermione was about to ask more questions, but was cut off by the sound of the horn. She looked out the window and saw the greenery passing by.
“I don’t know any breeds, but this cat was black with silver underneath it, so you can’t say she’s a cat for bad luck. We all named her Onyx because of her colour.”
“Aw, she sounds cute. How old she is?”
“About two months now. Ginny’s got her in the next compartment over with Neville and Loony... Luna,” Ron said quickly as he saw Hermione’s expression.
“So when you feel like it, you should go and check.”
“Yeah, it’s been a few hours since I’ve seen that overly-social thing, I could go with you, Hermione,” Harry said as he pulled out a chocolate frog.
“I’m fine, Harry, I can go by myself,” Hermione responded simply.
“But...”
“I can survive by myself for a few minutes or hours, thank you very much Mr. No-One-Can-Come-On-My-Horcrux-Hunt!” Hermione snapped, unable to take Harry’s attitude. She stood up and left the compartment, slamming the door.
“What’s eating her?” Harry asked as he handed Ron a licorice snap.

Another short update, but an update nonetheless.
And I looked up the June birthstone and they had too many different options, like pearl and something else and alexandrite, so I used the alexandrite (you'll see what I mean).
This is even shorter than the last update I'm sure, so I'll update within the next two days cause the chapter after this is SUPER long... I'm gonna split it in half (it's not like I'm going to post one part and then hold off for days and days, it's just to break it up; I'll be posting both parts on the same day)

Hermione’s Christmas Surprise
Things were silent between Draco and Hermione up until the start of Christmas break. Hermione went back to the Burrow for the first half of Christmas. On Christmas Eve, she left the Burrow for her parents to stay for the remaining holiday.
On Christmas Day, an owl woke her up with a gift and a letter. She untied both, and the owl sat on the desk in her bedroom. Opening the envelope, a funny Christmas card fell out. It read: Merry Christmas, Hermione.
She looked for a signature, but saw nothing. The owl hooted lightly and looked at her pensively. She opened the envelope and saw a letter inside as well. She opened it and started reading. I would’ve delivered this myself if I could’ve – my parents would’ve killed me if I wasn’t at home. Either way, have a happy Christmas and... I’ll see you back at Hogwarts. I hope you like your gift.

Hermione read the short letter over again, but then put it aside and opened the small box. She pulled out a silver necklace with a diamond heart pendant. Inside the heart were two gems – a sapphire and alexandrite. She recognized the two gems as birthstones, her birth stone and one for the month of June, which, after a few moments of thought, was the month Draco was born in. She smiled as she held the pendant of the necklace in her hand – she had never known him to be so thoughtful. She clipped it around her neck, letting the pendant droop down just over her shirt enough that if she needed to hide it from her parents, she could.
She heard a soft hoot and looked at the owl now sitting on her windowsill. After a moment, she realized she probably should write a response. She wrote a short response, and quickly scrawled ‘Mione’ when she heard one of her parents coming down her hall. As she was tying the message to the owl’s leg, her bedroom door opened. Hermione heard her mom, Jane, squeal in surprise at seeing an owl on Hermione’s windowsill. Hermione’s parents were still getting used to owls, even after 7 years of using them.
Draco’s barn owl flew off as soon as the letter was securely tied to his leg.
“Whose owl was that? Haven’t seen it before,” Hermione mom commented.
“A... a friend of mine. Just acquaintances, we don’t really talk too much,” Hermione lied as she put her new necklace underneath her shirt.
Her mom looked suspicious, but didn’t say anything other than, “Well, dad’s waiting, and you know how he can be...”
Hermione’s eyes widened and she walked out of her room with her mom, holding the heart pendant through her shirt, feeling the cold diamonds and silver against her skin.

I think I ended up developing more volcabulary and more ways to reword things to sound more proper since starting an Eragon fan fiction (I couldn't have... Murtagh saying 'Hey, how's it going, E?' or something crazy like that).

I don't know when I'll be updating the next two parts (the next chapter)...
Long story on something that happened, all I can say is I'm counting down the days until I don't feel like an only child so my dad can quit focusing on me and what I do and as a result quit making me have break-down after break-down...
And i didn't notice how depressing msot of my songs on my iPod/on iTunes are until that point as well.
Sometime this week tho (for an update). I might just post one part in a few days and wait a few days til updating the last half.

Ok, here's the first half of the update. I don't feel like posting the rest cause I feel like it... (I feel like this post, it's half of what it should be. Ooh, dark, I know! I've still felt better... *can't wait til bro returns and brings house back to normal by presence*)
Anyways, enjoy I'll update the half tomorrow or later today or sumthin... I dunno... I have this story all done (I started on the sequel and got bored cause I've been writing straight Harry Potter f.fs for awhile so I fell away from it for awhile to take a break).
P.S: Anthony Goldstein was a Ravenclaw prefect – I looked it up because I wanted to be a bit more accurate (with which prefects were which and which ones weren’t). You'll see what I mean.
It's also a bad cut-off but what I had planned before was worse I just ended it at the part I enjoyed writing the most That and it picks up (in the 2nd half) in a not-as-choppy way... yeah... and it's just over 2 pages long on MS Word and the entire chapter is 4 pages (single spaced). Chapter 18
The Hogwarts Express
(Part One)
The days for the holiday slowly dwindled away until it was time to go back to Hogwarts. Hermione met up with Ginny on Platform 9ľ and joined her in finding a compartment. Halfway down, they found Neville and Luna inside one. They slid open the compartment door. Dropping their things, they sat down across the two and were silent as the train started to move. Hermione toyed with the heart underneath her shirt somewhat inconspicuously. Ginny saw this after a few moments.
“What’re you doing?” she asked Hermione.
“This thing is itchy,” Hermione responded as she scratched underneath the high collar she had on her sweater.
“Then take it off,” Ginny said simply. “It’s pretty warm in this compartment anyways, you don’t need to wear the sweater mum sent you, you know.”
“It’s the first year I’ve gotten a sweater from her, actually,” Hermione said truthfully. When Ginny looked away, she quickly took her necklace out from under the sweater and dropped it down her t-shirt.
“So that was Malfoy’s gift, eh?” Ginny asked as she snapped her attention back onto Hermione, her brown eyes on the chain just barely noticed underneath her hair. “What is it, diamond?”
Hermione sighed and took the sweater off. She saw Neville’s curious eyes on her.
“What...?” Hermione asked slowly.
“ Malfoy got you a gift?” he asked, stunned.
“Something wrong with that?” Hermione responded in a cool, threatening manner.
Neville’s eyes widened slightly, but he still responded, “You said the two of you were just to make Harry jealous. Why would he send diamond as a joke?”
“It’s not a joke, Neville,” Ginny responded, turning to look at him. “Malfoy’s a bit... deeper.”
Neville’s eyes widened even more. He looked at Hermione, gapping.
“You mean... Malfoy actually...”
“Oh look at the time, I have to go to the prefect meeting further down the train,” Hermione cut in quickly.
“But...”
“Come on Gin, don’t procrastinate,” Hermione cut in once more, dragging Ginny out of the compartment and down the hall.
“Mione... get... off... me...” she sputtered as Hermione’s hold on her shirt collar tightened.
“Sorry...” Hermione let go. Ginny flattened down the wrinkles Hermione made and looked up at her friend.
“What’s up with you?” she asked, still following Hermione down the way.
“Well I only dragged you out because it would be odd if I went and you didn’t, since you’re a prefect as well, so...”
“Can I go back now and say you’re staying to ask some questions?”
“That would be one fast meeting,” Hermione said as she continued walking. “Besides, there actually is a meeting starting in a few minutes, so we should just get down there now...”
“And get Ron, who always waited for you...”
“No worries, Gin.”
Ginny screamed and jumped three feet in the air. She spun around and started hitting Ron, who had snuck up on her, saying something along the lines of ‘you stupid git, pick up on respect for once...’
“Keep moving, Gin,” Ron said as he pushed her away. She stuck her tongue out at him and followed Hermione looking over her shoulder suspiciously the rest of the way down the corridors. They opened the door that was labeled ‘Prefects’ and sat down in three open seats that were next to one another.
“Welcome back, and I hope you all had a...”
The door swung open again. The Head Boy, who had started talking, looked towards the door with a hard expression. Everyone followed his lead, curious, and saw Pansy rushing in. She giggled and sat down.
“Anyways...”
The door was pushed open again, and a 5th year Hufflepuff came in, panting.
“Sorry... couldn’t find... compartment... someone told me... front of train...”
“Well we’re in the back if you haven’t noticed. It hasn’t changed,” the Head Boy said in a flat tone. “Now, I hope you all...”
The door swung open once again.
“Are there any more people coming?” the Head Boy yelled, clearly frustrated.
Draco, who had been the on to enter this time, blinked in surprise, and responded in a calm tone, “Not that I know of.”
“Anyways,” the Head Boy said through gritted teeth as Draco sat down a seat away from Pansy. “I hope you all had a happy Christmas, and...”
The door opened again, and the other 6th year Gryffindor prefect walked in silently.
“For Merlin’s sake, Malfoy, you said there were no more!”
“I said ‘not that I know of’,” Draco responded simply, emphasizing what he said earlier. He simply smiled at the Ravenclaw Head Boy, who glared back at him.
“You,” the Head Boy snapped. “Anyone else? Like our Head Girl, Hannah?”
As soon as he spoke those words, Hannah Abbott, the 7th year Hufflepuff, pushed the door open. She looked up with a smile, but her expression fell as soon as she saw the look on the Head Boy, Anthony Goldstein’s, face.
“Anyways!” Anthony snapped loudly. “Welcome back from Christmas holidays, yadayada. We’ve been given our timetables for patrolling this semester. They’re on the table over there.” He pointed towards a table in the far corner of the enlarged room. “Take one per person.” Anthony looked at Ron, whose ears went red, as he spoke – Ron had a bad habit of not picking one up and completely relying on Hermione for telling him when they were to patrol.
