Still a baby? Gabby raised her brow. "Of course she's still a baby, Lynley. She was born at the end of March." Her friend could be so amusing at times but at least she was making an effort. That was all she could ask for.

Yep. Pretty much the reaction that Gabby had expected. "It just happened and it certainly wasn't planned." No way had she wanted her body to go through the changes again so soon. At first she had been upset but now they were thrilled. "We will get through it somehow. Thank goodness for Aoife's help." That woman was a lifesaver. "...Are you saying I could lose my job for having children?" That was outrageous.

Lynley was irritated to say the least. But trying very hard not to be. "Ahh. It seems longer ago...is all," she sighed and leaned back in her chair, glancing at the ceiling. "You two are daft," she snorted. "Daft." Honestly, what in the world were they doing, producing all these accidental children? "Your first one is hardly here and already...another. You poor body, and your poor daughter. When are you due, then?" she pursed her lips in annoyance. "And No, I'm more saying that you....have hardly worked much lately. What use do I have for a liaison who is never here? And always having children."

She didn't think it was even legal to fire someone for having children: super illegal, right?

But honestly.

"Again, as your boss, I'm adverse to losing you for the months you won't be here. And as your friend.....Gabby, what in the world."

Anger flashed in Gabby's eyes. It was all she could do not to lose it with her boss.

"I have been at work every day since I have come off maternity leave doing my job. I complete EVERYTHING that is asked of me and won't go off again until I am eight months pregnant. Clearly you don't think I'm a good employee anymore." That actually hurt and part of that had to be due to pregnancy hormones.

She sighed and tried to get a grip. "It is hard on me. Very hard. I'm due in January." Hopefully this one wouldn't be so late. "I know. I told Archer that we need to be more careful." She couldn't handle another baby soon after this one.

Weirdly enough, Lynley wasn't really mad at Gabby, so much as last time. And she didn't react, visibly, to Gabby's outward anger at herself. She just took a deep breath. "You are a very punctual worker, I'm aware, but I'm just letting you know." She pursed her lips once more and folded her hands atop her desk. "I do think you're a good employee, why do you think you going on maternity leave bothers me so much?"

January seemed so SOON, Merlin's pants. "I'll set it all up. When do you want to stop working, then?" she sighed and swiveled around to face the filing cabinet, flipping through the drawers to find the paperwork she needed. "Calm down, Gabby," she said softly. "I'm glad you're....happy about it, at least," See, Lynley was taking this better than last time, SEE? She finally found the file folder and flipped it open, taking out a stapled stack of papers and pushing them over to Gabby.

Gabby was confused and still angry. Angry because Lynley had made her think her job could be on the line and said that she was hardly working. That was completely unnecessary and rather insulting. Lynley was lucky that she was holding her tongue. Regardless of if losing her wasn't desirable, that wasn't right to do to someone who was going through a lot physically and hormonally.

At least she was getting her maternity leave and recognition that she was happy. That was a start. "I think mid-December works. We weren't happy at first, more... shocked. Now we're excited. Needless to say the next one won't be a surprise." Gabby hadn't really talked about it with Archer yet, but she would like another baby when the girls were a bit older.

Lynley nodded. "Mid December, then." Same time as last year, then...or, round ABOUTs the same time. She clacked her fingernails on her desk and sighed, whipping her wand suddenly to close her office door. "So...do you know what the sex is, yet? Have names picked out? It's going to be quite the handful..."

And the Department Head would have offered her services if she didn't think that her babysitting two little ones wouldn't end in disaster; because it sooooooo would. "I know a good nanny if you ever consider that route," she said softly. "My brother and sister in law used her...and she has colleagues."

There was no way Lynley could share in Gabby's excitement. She was too...MEH about all of it. But she was...interested. And honestly, Gabby should have been glad for that.

With that settled, she pulled the forms towards herself and began filling them out. It was out of love for her friend that she wasn't saying anything about the insult. Lynley was trying, and while Gabby was still ticked off that meant a lot to her. "So I will be off until mid-March if I take three months off like last time." No need to worry because she had been serious about the whole waiting for more babies thing. As much as she was excited about the new one, two pregnancies close together was EXHAUSTING - physically AND mentally. "We haven't confirmed the gender, but I'm positive that it's another girl." Absentmindedly, she rubbed her little bump. "Started thinking up some names so that me and Archer can go over them later."

Oh. That was a sweet offer. "We definitely will consider that if we need extra help." That got a small smile because again, her friend was trying. Just would have been nice not to have been insulted. Did Lynley get why Gabby was angry?? At any rate they would wait and see how Aoife felt about looking after TWO babies once she was off maternity leave.

Mid flipping MARCH? Lynley felt like that was just so long, but she would oblige. "Fine. That's all fine." More clacking of her nails on her desk. More staring at Gabby a bit, wondering how in the world she would raise two children, so close in age, in a bloody tent.

"How are you positive? Just have a feeling?" she asked, and she suddenly smirked. "Lynley. Name her Lynley, obviously," she teased. She didn't actually expect the woman to name her child Lynley. it was a terrible name for a kid. She wondered how SHE has survived as a kid with that name. Perhaps because her parents and brothers had called her Lynnie? But still. Ew.

"Oh, you'll need it, Gabby. Don't be stupid, here. Hire a damn nanny if you need one." She looked irked, but not TOO irked.

Clearly Lynley wasn't too pleased with what Gabby had to say but that was just too bad. There was no way she was going to bounce back and go to work right after delivering a baby. Nope. She would need to recover and then there would be time with her daughter. Two babies since Valeria was still one. Hopefully the really small age gap wouldn't be a problem... Archer had said this might be a good thing but they wouldn't know for sure until after the baby was born. "Just a feeling, yes. I had it with Valeria as well. It's hard to understand unless you experience it." Which her boss clearly didn't WANT TO. "Oh, of course. Archer would just love it." Not. She smiled because she knew it had been a joke anyway. Lynley was a nice name though.

Eyebrow raise. "Well, we have her granny. I'm just not sure yet whether she will need help." Aoife was VERY capable but two babies might be too much for her. "I think we can wait and see if she can handle it by herself." Even if it was only eight hours needed in a day, that could be a long time while doing things on your own.

He was wearing jeans, as always. But they were respectable jeans, adulating-jeans. Archer didn't really give a damn if his attire still bothered his boss, cause he looked civil, at least that's what he thought about his itchy red sweater and the crappy black tie.

Adjusting the burden in his arms (several random objects and things he thought were trashy overall), Archer freed one hand, miraculously managing not to drop all this crap onto the floor. Knocking said hand againgst Lynley's door, Archer silently hoped that she was there. Or else he was just the weirdo standing in the hall with a bunch of would-be portkeys in his arms. . .

Lynley rolled her eyes at that dig. ..Anyone who doesn't experience it... please. She didn't want to, no, and felt like people thinking she HAD to one day have kids was such an old fashioned way of thinking.

But she ignored it. And was tired of this meeting already with Gabby.

"All right. Well fill out the paperwork...bring it back, let me file it in. And all will be done." She said with a sigh. "I have a lot of work to do. Congratulations," she said gently. Mostly, she was just feeling very impatient, increasingly impatient, too.

Gabby went mellow at the eye roll. "I wasn't implying that you are supposed to have kids." If that was what the gesture was in reference to... "All the more power to you if you don't. Do whatever makes you happy. I was saying it's something that you have to experience to fully understand. Like heartbreak I guess." Lynley could live her whole life without and children besides kneazles and it wouldn't be anything to Gabby because beyond wanting her friend happy, Gabby wasn't concerned with how she lived her life.

Why was she even explaining? Not like Lynley hadn't made her angry.

Nodding, she got up. The rest could easily be filled out. "Maybe we can do something after work soon?" It would be nice...when Gabby wasn't mad. She was really trying here!

Valeria's leg kicked out, the silly thing, and she was awake. But Mama wasn't there. Valeria crawled around trying to find her, but all she saw was an open door. Mama sometimes left her bedroom door open when she went in, so that Valeria could follow her, so maybe this was what Mama had done.

Valeria wobbled up to her feet and took some slow, but proud steps, and entered the room. It wasn't a bedroom but it smelled familiar. Valeria saw some shiny things in something and she wobbled over there, pressing her little hands against the glass for support. They were pretty! Valeria liked to put pretty things in her mouth, but she couldn't... so she put her mouth against the glass instead, and tried to talk, but the only thing that came out was fresh drool

The door was ajar.

The door. Was. AJAR.

That was already odd in itself. She had let Gabs keep the keys to her office since thats where a lot of the files were and...just for various reasons. But it was unlike Gabby not to shut a simple door unless she had been doing something quickly...or...

She was trying not to overthink it, but she could HEAR someone in there, and it didn't SOUND like Gabby.

In fact, it sounded like--

She pulled Wyatt into her office...and stared down at the THING. It wasn't a thing at all, though, it was a BABY.

"Valeria Burton!" Lynley said sharply, letting go of Wyatt before scooping the little girl up. "WHAT are you DOING in here, sweetheart?" her tone had softened only SLIGHTLY. Valeria SHOULD recognize Aunt Lynley -__-

Wyatt had been content, Teddy tucked under the arm that held his glass of water and his other holding on tightly as he took in his surroundings but that all changed the moment they entered the office.

The three year old no longer cared about all the fascinating things around him. The intrigue that this room had simply for being 'where mummy worked' had died in under 2.5 seconds. Brown eyes grew large and wide as Miss Lynley LET HIM GO to....to.....to hold the baby.

HE was Sweetheart. She was meant to be holding HIM.

The glass in his hand was unceremoniously dropped to the ground right before the little boy began making incessant pulling motions at her arms that held the baby. It was as if someone had hit the panic button inside him and all the earlier apprehension wound itself into a tight knot within him once again.

"Mummy, tummy hurts. It huuuuurts." Put down the baby and pick HIM up. "Hurts a lot." He kept yanking and tugging, unconcerned for the safety of the little thing she was holding. She was HIS. "Teddy's too. His hurts too. Muuuummmmyyyy." Tug. Tug. Tug.

Valeria was still trying to talk and eat the shiny things, which were SHINY, when she simultaneously (for her little brain) heard something and was LIFTED into the air. Valeria saw it was Auntie Lynley! Her face went from shock!surprise to happy!surprise. "WYNWYYY!" Valeria squealed, wrapping her chubby arms around her auntie and giving her a very sloppy kiss on the ear.

When the cuddle was cuddled, Valeria pointed to the shiny. "Dat?" she asked. "Shiny!" She smiled an almost toothless smile. Valeria liiiiiiiiiiked the shiny.

It was a few moments until she realised there were other people there. She looked down to someone else there and she smiled, a big drop of drool leaving her mouth, dribbling down her chin and dropping. She pointed at the boy and looked back at Auntie Lynley. "Boy," she said.

"AUNT Lynley, dear," She said, in slight disgust, at the child. "Aunt Lynley." Wynwy........was hardly the correct pronunciation, but Lynley couldn't fault the child. She was young!

She had no idea what the 'dat' was that Valeria was pointing at, but she knelt down as she glanced at Wyatt and noticed his little face...and then he was on about his tummy, and tugging on her so much that she...she knew what was going on. Lynley normally would have kissed the side of Val's face but thought better of that as she set the toddler down.

"Wyatt, your tummy does not hurt," she said, not sternly. She straightened out Valeria's dress, since it gotten all crumbled up around her waist, and smiled at her son. "Wyatt, this is Valeria. She is your cousin." Kind of but not really, but she didn't know what else to call her. "Valeria...this is Wyatt," she said softly. She put an arm around her son so he wouldn't get...more panicky.

And she wiped her ear, because ew.

"No it does, it does Mummy, it hurts." Even after the baby was replaced on the floor, the little boy's persistence did not end. He didn't care what her name was and he didn't want a cousin either.

Wyatt leaned into Lynley, still reaching for her to pick him up like she'd done earlier. Despite the attention Valeria showed, he gave no such courtesy. For all intents and purposes, he was ignoring anyone not named Lynley Purcell.

"Pick me up, please?" His eyes began to water as the ground began to lose it's appeal.

It wasn't long before the mind over body effect set in and his stomach actually DID hurt.

Valeria looked at her aunt Lynley. Her face frowned with concentration. "Ahhhht Wynwey," she said, then smiled.

She didn't like being on the floor after having a cuddle. She wanted another cuddle! But there was a boy there, and Aunt Lynley was saying something. He seemed a bit sad, so Valeria lifted her hands up and leaned in to give him a hug.

Reaching the office, Gabby didn't know that Lynley had arrived until she stepped inside the doorway. "Lynley! I wasn't expecting you to be here." This was quite the surprise. And the little boy with her must have been Wyatt. Awww. "Hello there, little man!"

Relieved that there had been no harm done and her daughter was okay, she scooped Valeria up into her arms and smothered her in cuddles and kisses. "Mama and dada were SOOO worried!" Thank Merlin that nothing bad had happened to their little girl! Liana was safe though; she was secure in her rocker.

Lynley nodded, pulling Wyatt up into her arms and petting the back of his hair. She could tell this trip was not turning out so fun for him, and perhaps she could have been a bit more sensitive to his needs. "Mummy's got you..." she smiled. "Look, Valeria gave you a hug, Wy..." she said gently.

"Gabby!" she said as she looked up. "Merlin, you let your child wander around my level without supervision?!" she snapped, suddenly. Wyatt had probably not heard this tone for months...not since he had been at the orphanage still, when she fussed at the attendants there for their shoddy job at taking care of kids.

Merlin.

And was that Archer? Ugh. She'd have to be extra polite in front of the children -__-

The hug was what really did it. As the little hands wrapped around him, the boy let out a loud, shrill cry of frustration and discontent. HE DID NOT WANT HER HUGS and if Lynley hadn't scooped him up when she did, he'd have given her a firm push which said as much.

Now up in her arms, the little boy tightly wrapped his arms around her. He'd let go last time she asked and just look where it got him.

The woman's warm greeting was lost on the boy who's face was firmly buried in the crook of his mother's neck. He wouldn't look up for the world. This was safe and while like this, Mummy wouldn't go hugging other babies.

If possible, he began clinging even harder when her tone sharpened the way it did. He'd never heard her sound like THAT before.

Valeria had never had a hug rejected before. The boy's cry made Valeria cry, too, and there was nobody there to hug her. Aunt Lynley was hugging the boy, who didn't want to hug her, and Aunt Lynley had stopped hugging her so that she could hug the boy. She was very confused and lonely, but it was a good thing she was scooped up somehow. She saw, smelled, and heard that it was her mama, and her dada was near.

Mama's kisses and cuddles stopped her tears, and Valeria wrapped her short arms around her mama's neck, and she buried her head there. Into her mama's hair which always smelled like food. In fact, Valeria opened her mouth and closed it around some of the hair. It didn't taste yummy though, so she spat it out and rested her head against her mama's shoulder and fell asleep.

"Oh thank Merlin, thank Merlin," Archer said, wrapping one arm around Gabby and putting the other one on Valeria's head, stroking her soft hair and giving her kisses on the back of her head. "Thank Merlin you're okay Valeria." Once he saw that his baby was safe, he realised Lynley and another boy were there. "Hello Lynley," he said. He was sure they were going to get it, and indeed... she started.

He didn't know what to say. "Well they were hardly unsupervised. She just.. well she's a little rocket. Blink and she's gone. Gabby put her down to sleep, she usually sleeps for a few hours." Archer didn't know what had happened to wake the little one, but it wasn't Gabby's fault.

The boy was ignoring her, but Gabby supposed that was okay based on what Lynley had told her about Wyatt. Still, it was a good thing that she had no idea that he had almost pushed Valeria. As it was, she kept snuggling her baby girl as Archer joined them, resting into him slightly.

Valeria started chewing on her hair before suddenly spitting it out, but Gabby was used to her daughter putting everything in her mouth and was no stranger to drool. Eyebrow raise at the snapping, since it was a little unnecessary when her baby had just fallen back to sleep. Also, wasn't it bad for Wyatt? Certainly, judging by his reaction to the change in tone... "She was fast asleep. I only left for a minute and she was gone. Something must have woken her up, but she's usually out for a few hours like Archer said." Her wonderful husband always stuck up for her.

Lynley didn't feel like snipping at their parenting skills currently. She had a not so happy toddler in her arms who was clinging to her so tightly she had to loosen his grip with one of her hands.

Merlin.

Incompetence all around. "I hope you haven't been running my department as well as you watch Valeria..." she hissed under her breath. Maybe they heard, maybe they didn't, Lynley didn't care either way. She kissed Wyatt's forehead and rubbed her forehead with her free hand. "This is Mr. Wyatt Purcell," she said softly to Gabby, trying to seem less....annoyed at the couple. Trying to be POLITE.

"Anyways, no harm done, and she's sweet," Lynley said as she reached out her free hand to pet the top of her soft, baby hair. "I think Wyatt is cranky..." she said veeeeeeery casually. "Do you need a nap, mister?" she asked him.

She always tried to ignore Archer. He infuriated her with mere presence and breathing. She felt like she was doing well today! "Anywho, Archer and Gabby, this is my son, Wyatt. He might not be in the mood to meet you properly though..." and she wouldn't force him to either. "It's fine, it's fine, really, don't worry about it," she finally said about the WHOLE thing. "Just...ugh."

She had gotten an idea, though, and since Wyatt was busy hiding from the couple, Lynley stealthily pulled a cookie from her bag and handed it to Gabby. She mouthed, 'OFFER IT TO HIM.'
