Being alone sucked. It was boring, there was no one to talk to, no one to entertain, no one to entertain him, and it was overall a very sucky existence. How was this any better than being with Alysson???? He was still asking himself that only all the time.

As he walked along though, lo and behold, a bright object caught his eye. Why, it almost appeared to be glowing, like an.... Ember? That was his coworker's name, right? With the flashy clothes and the bright er teal hair? Heh. She looked like she was meditating. That or sleeping in a silly pose.

Either way, she would be perfect to sneak up upon. So, with his hand still in his pockets, Willy moved from the sidewalk to the grass and did his best to sneak up on his much younger coworker. He stopped a little ways away, though, and did his usual hide-behind-a-tree-because-you're-tall routine. He peeked around its trunk and aimed his wand at Ember's shoes.

Ommmmmmmmmmmmm, that's right, keep meditating.... ommmmmm your meditation is so powerful that your shoes are lifting right off the ground! Ommmmmmmmmm keep going, don't smell them floating above your face right now... ommmmmmmmmmm William just couldn't help it. He couldn't hold the spell any longer, this picture was just too hilarious.

With a small snigger, the levitating shoes fell from the air and onto Ember's head.

OOPS.

He kept his sniggering to a minimum and leaned back against the tree while he laughed. This was the perfect way to waste time spend a lunch break.

Lalalalaalaaaaaa! Ember was in the ZONE. She was so focused on the NOTHINGNESS of relaxation and just...existing. In complete and total meditation. She eventually would change positions, and try to change her breathing techniques and whatnot---become ONE with the land and the EARTH and the AIR.

Ahhhh.

She breathed in and smelled the park--the smell of the concessions nearby, the smell of dirt, of CHILDREN--hehe. Maybe she would go to the playground after this just to interact with the innocents of the world for a little while. BUT she was doing a LOT of thinking right now--so she had to clear her thoughts again--this would take a lot effort--

SMACK!

The shoe fell RIGHT on the top of her head and Ember yelped and winced and hopped up all SO quickly--the gaggle of ducks next to her took flight in a cloud of QUACKS and general squawking. Ember eyed her shoe...SQUINTED at her shoe...and swooped down to pick it up.

"EXCUSE ME? I was MEDITATING. Why would you decide to RUIN that?" she asked her shoe, smacking it against her palm a bit to see if there was something inside of it--

RUDE.

Oh this was good, so good. William was splitting his sides from contained laughter. He'd even managed to scare off a horde of ducks! HA! HAHAHA! And now she was TALKING TO the SHOE! Like it could talk back! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Maaaaaaaaaaaan. William was half-bent over to catch his breath. Hilarious. Still bent in half, he peeked around the corner of the tree to see what she was going to do next. Put it back on? Try meditating again? Maybe do some yoga this time? HEHEHEHEHEE. There were many options, Ember, pick one so he could be a punk entertained.

"HELLO? ARE YOU GOING TO ANSWER ME?!" she asked, VERY angry at her shoe. Of course she was. GOSH. RUDE. She THREW it down, hard, on the ground, and crossed her arms. "You scared away the duckies! What did I ever DO to you?! I wash my feet EVERY night--they certainly don't SMELLLLL!" she cried, flailing her arms around, not only scaring the ducks, now, but a few of the jogging civilians passing by.

This crazy-blue haired freak?! WHAT WAS SHE DOING?!

Ember squinted down at her shoe and just SIIIGHED. 'You've ruined my MEDITATION." She said. Now what to DO with her shoe?! She sighed and reached down, picking it...up. Slowly...and then the other...and she tip-toed over to the rubbish bin...and...DROPPED them inside.

"THAT'S YOU GET! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET!" she screamed at the bin before going back to her backpack, sighing. She hoped Harmony didn't mind bare feeeeeet. Hers honestly didn't smell at all.

....oooooookaaaaaaaaay. Ookay. Now William was starting to feel a tinge of regret for pranking his coworker. She was like REALLY distressed by the shoe thing. So much so that she was now... shouting? at the shoe? And throwing it around? And going for the trash can?!!!

Oh no, no no no no, Ember, don't throw your shoes AWAY. They were perfectly fine flats probably! Crap. Being barefoot in a public location was no laughing matter, and now William was concerned for Ember's mental health and safety. What if she stepped on something sharp and pointy?!!

He had an idea to fix this bit of a... prank gone wrong. Squaring his shoulders, the tall man took off from the tree at a light jog. Yep. Just fitting in here, he was a jogger, going for a casual jog on his lunch break. Whew. Such a nice day out, perfect weather for jogging in a..........leather jacket.

He deliberately jogged past the spot where Ember was screaming and then did a dramatic double-take, jogging backwards in place to give her a second glance. "Uhhhhh," he murmured, raising his voice slightly so that she could hear him over all her inner sighing, "Ember?" Like he didn't know her name. HAH. "You alright there?"

Ember looked down at her patch of grass that she PREVIOUSLY been sitting on and squinted at it...the energy here was nice, so it wouldn't be some extra force trying to prank her, right?

She looked up as she heard someone say her name, and she then relaxed and smiled when she saw it was WILLIAM. "Hi, William!" she said cheerfully and went to give him a GREAT BIG HUG! "It's nice to see you with color on your cheeks!" she said, pinching his little cheeks and giggling. okay. Ember had no concept of personal bubbles--was this okay, William? She then stepped back and examined his outfit. "My--you jogged in your leather jacket?" he must be so hootttt ;___; "You should come relax with me--come--" and she didn't really give him a choice, so she took his hand and she sat down reaaaaaally quickly, pulling him with her.

YEP WILLIAM. You're going to meditate.

She didn't give a thought to whether William WANTED to or not--because in her mind, WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO. A. Meditating was good for the SOUL. And B. She was EMBER. The super nice coworker! Whooooh!

"Hi, Ember," William started to say, before all of a sudden--- ooof! He was being pulled into a GREAT BIG HUG by the much smaller woman. Oooof wow, Willy was NOT a fan of random hugs. He wasn't even sure how such a little thing like her was capable of squeezing a big thing like him so hard!

And now he was blushing, so he surely had even MORE color on his cheeks which she was pinching like he was a child. He was definitely squirming like a little child at all this touching. Eck. "Uhhhhh," he started to reply that yes, he had gone 'jogging' in this jacket. Uh huh, totally. But too late, he was being tugged down onto the ground and forced to sit.

"Whuh... w--- but Ember, I have no idea how to meditate," Willy stammered. "What happened to your shoes?!" That was the reason he'd come over here in the first place.

Ember smiiiiiiled very big. "That's okay, William. I will teach you. It's quite easy, love--" she said and she grabbed his hand and held it up, and held up her other hand. "I can tell--you have MUCH on your mind--but you are a good guy--your love of dragons shows it!" she said, closing her eyes but BEAMING. "Listen...to my voice..." she said softly, making her voice silky smooth and soothing. She took a deeeeep breath in. "And now we will breathe in--we will think of all the things bothering us--we will think of any negativity surrounding us--" She was quiet for a moment.

"And now--" she continued, "We breathe out, William--we breathe out ALL of our bad ideas, thoughts, and negativity--" she said, her voice airy and her body very still. She hoped he was taking the opportunity to enjoy some 'me' time--with Ember. Hehe. "Breaaaaaathe outward, William--all of your worries be gone!" she said, and she sighed and was quiet okay. Was he relaxed? WAS HE THINKING OF NOTHING YET? "Clear your mind, my friend--" she said. Heh. She was awfully PROUD of herself--being all--intrsuctory! She could SO lead a yoga class with Harmony. EEEE. She had to ask her boss!

She didn't think about the fact that they were in the middle of a park...with people walking all around...and that she was now...barefoot. Well. Ember always wanted to be a hippy, hehe.

Default Tiberius! c:
Queen of Typos | The OTHER OTHER Roro | WICKED is Good

It's been exactly a month since she quit her job and came back to London. At first it seemed pretty courageous and ambitious that she did not want to be in a job that had people who bored her and weren't to her liking. But now she was starting to entertain the thought that what she did was pretty dumb. Who does that? Like finding a job was the easiest thing to do. But then again she was renewing her resume for it to be ready when she found the job she wanted to apply for. Lately, she's been thinking about the ministry. That would be cool, she supposed.

Anyway, she wanted the gloomy thoughts to go now. Which is why she decided to go to the park. Something Lara Black hardly ever did. Not to mention the fact that she was also alone. She'd probably have come here with her sister if she wanted to take the twins out. So this was not usual. But maybe watching people and making fun of them in her head would cheer her up and keep her mind off her unemployed situation.

With her hands in her pockets, she edged closer to the pond and just stared at the surface. Was there nothing in the water? Booooring.

Tiberius kicked stones down the path, humming to himself. He'd run out of things to do before heading to Romania, but they wouldn't be ready for him for a bit, still. His research prep was done, the dragon seminar had been attended and survived, and so he found himself wandering Wizard London in a way he hadn't in years. He'd considered heading back to Cairo for the week, but Gabriel was so excited about the progress he was making on the manuscript that Tiberius didn't want to interrupt. Besides, his mother was so thrilled to have him home, it was the least he could do.

And so Tiberius kicked stones as he walked through the park. As he approached the pond, he noticed a young woman at its edge peering in. Quirking an eyebrow, he also peered into the water, but saw... nothing. He looked up then, and stared across the surface.

Bending down, Tiberius picked up a flat, smooth rock and with a flick of his wrist, sent it skimming across the pond's surface, sending small rings of ripples across the water.

The surface was so still and smooth. Lara liked it despite herself who usually found still and non-moving things. Staring so far wasn't entirely boring but it was bound to become so for her in about three seconds. Which it eventually happened. But her attention was now on something else besides the water. Or someone more like it. She watched the guy joining in then losing hope to find anything quite fast only to pick up a rock. See that was certainly more fun that staring. Why didn't she think of that to do. Concentrating to get a long shot would have cleared her mind of everything. She was lacking ideas these days, how devastating.

When his rock finally sank into the surface, Lara let out a whistle. "Nice," Which was.

Like a copy cat, she picked up a rock after removing a hand from her pocket and just tossed it away. The rock didn't even get a couple of inches away before it made drops of water to splash her pants. Should have probably chosen a smaller one.

Tiberius had fixated his attention on the stone, sticking his hands in his pockets as it skimmed across the surface. His attention was only broken by the sound of a whistle.

He turned toward to sound to seek the woman from before. "Thanks," he said, with a small laugh. He watched as she picked up a rock of her own, but only travelled a few inches. He offered her a shrug, but certainly wasn't going to offer any unsolicited advice. Scanning the edge for some more stones, he located two that would likely work. Palming one, he picked up the second and tossed it over toward the woman. Turning back to the water's surface, which had calmed once more, he skimmed his rock across the surface. So relaxing.

After watching the rock skip, Tiberius chose to sit at the pond's edge, rather than search for another stone. Picking up some pebbles, he rolled one between his fingers before lofting it into the water with a soft plop.

Squinting at the edge of the pond, she crouched with her hand hovering over the ground searching for a decent rock to throw. She obviously had nothing else better to do, could you tell? And this was probably better than making a joke of parents running after their little kids or of mushy couples. This was a good distraction, she owed the stranger a thank you.

Oh, and he gave her a rock. Make that two thank you-s.

Lara watched him throw the second one with interest focusing on his wrist move and the angle between it and his upper-arm. Though, a nagging thought at the back of her mind kept reminding her that had she not quit she'd not have been watching strangers throwing rocks and trying to learn techniques.

Rising to her feet, she swung her arm a couple of times before releasing the rock. It did go further this time but nearly as good as the other man was. Lara made a face at the water as if it was its fault, "Guess throwing rocks isn't my thing," she said sliding her hand back into her pocket. Her eyes scanned her surroundings searching for an interesting sight. Nope, nothing. "Do you always come here?" She casually asked. He might not be the type that chatted with strangers, she thought but that didn't stop her from trying to start a conversation.

Tiberius watched the woman try again, smirking at the face she made. "It took me years," he called out to her from his seated position on the water's edge. He remembered his mum trying to teach him when he was little, but that it wasn't till a break from studying for his NEWTs on the edge of the Black Lake that he finally managed to skip one.

Resting is forearms on his knee, he hedged a bit in answering her question, first looking at her and then at the space just in front of his feet. "Eh, not really. I grew up in Muggle London but I've been away for a few years." He paused, rolling some of the stones under his heel. "It's become a bit of a thinking spot when I am in town, though." He shrugged. It was nice here. And when he looked around the park, he could imagine being here every day. But there was still that open question. France or Britain?

After a moment of thought, he looked back at her, squinting a bit and remembering his run-in with Jessa earlier that week. Was this person someone he should recognize? She didn't strike him as familiar, but he was certainly going to be friendly all the same.

The always present Slytherin in her wanted to prove that she could do it without the need for years to train on it. She of course couldn't and didn't even care to do so. Guess being a snake for only four years didn't leave the strongest impact on her. She actually found it nice of him to make excuses to her failure. "Then in 2084 it started for me," she said smiling, obviously referring to training.

Funnily enough she sometimes forgot about the muggle parts of the city which was silly considering they were like most of it. Maybe next time she could go pass her time there, she could have fun watching muggles doing hard things that could be done with magic! Sounded fun and no she wasn't nine. The rest of his sentence tugged at her attention more. "Oh, me, too," she said thinking that could be for either of the facts and felt the need to elaborate. "Just came back from the States," Which she sort of missed now but she was also enjoying her time here minus the guilt caused by her rushed decision.

Thinking spot? They came here for the exactly the opposite purposes then since she was her to turn her mind off. "It is quiet here," she said to both herself and him like she just realized that. Next time she chooses a more lively place. "So you're on holiday or are you here permanently?" Was this prying? It probably was but he didn't tell her to mind her own business yet. She'd casually find someone else to annoy then.

"Resolving to learn is the first step," he said laughing. He remembered how mum wouldn't let him stop trying, no matter how many times he simply threw the rock in frustration. That sort of stick-to-it-ness had, well, stuck with him.

He nodded as she spoke. She'd been away, too, then. Ah, the States. Tiberius had never been, unless you counted him actually being born there, his parents hiding out in Iowa, but he had no memory of it. He'd thought about going, but every time he asked his mother for details, she clammed up, so he'd let it drop. He'd piece it together on his own, as he had been doing pretty much all his life.

"Neither?" he responded, his voice pitching higher at the end. He sighed. "It's... complicated" He looked at her, wondering if it would be too much info. "I'm based in Cairo at the moment, but had to be in Diagon earlier this week, and mum still lives in London so I'm staying for a few days before I go to Romania for work. I'm hoping to move back after, but that's still..." how to put this. Tiberius paused, considering his words carefully. "That's an open conversation yet to be decided." Diplomatic enough? It wasn't quite a fight that he and Gabriel were having, but the decision of where to live was a point of loving disagreement.

She did like to learn the cool things, mhm. And that certainly classified as one. If only it didn't require much training and effort. But it was sort of worth it. Being able to saunter up and throw a rock all professional like. Oh, well, depended on one's priorities and opinions on cool.

Hmm. Seemed like she could guess why he wanted to see a calm place to think. She felt she'd touched a private matter so she didn't ask anything more. He did explain further meaning it wasn't all that private and secretive. "Yeah, decisions like that are quite hard and do take time," She knew from experience. For her it was either staying in the US or returning home. The latter won and seemed more promising. A fresh start.

And did he say Romania? Nice. "What do you do?" She wondered if he was some athlete which would explain his earlier revealed skills. Not that those were only restricted to athletes.

Tiberius nodded as she spoke. "We'll find a compromise, I'm sure," and he believed it, too. It would, he supposed, partially be decided by what he ended up doing for work.

He smiled at her next question. "I'm a student. Advanced studies in ecosystems. I'm headed to Romania to look at how dragon colonies impact surrounding plant and animal life." It had been a weird set of circumstances that sent him in this direction, but it was all seeming to work out. "I'm Tiberius, by the way," he said, offering his hand.

"And what about you? What brings you to the park?" Tiberius realized that he'd been dominating the conversation. Well, more processing out loud. There was a lot going on, that was for sure. Maybe he'd go back to Cairo tomorrow...

He seemed to be certain about it and Lara wanted it to be contagious. She used to have that sort of confidence all the time but it was lacking her lately. But hey, if he could do it, so could she.

Student, he looked sort of around her age, meaning he like the thing he studied which is why he's continued or he just started after her. Most her friends took a couple of years off before starting up again after school, she didn't think to do that. "Neat, that sounds interesting," Because Dragons, duh! Oh, right, they haven't exchanged names, already. "Nice meeting you, I'm Lara," She shook his head offering a smile.

Stepping closer to Tiberius, Lara joined him by the edge of the pond resting her elbows on her knees. She tapped her chin a couple of times thinking of how best to phrase her situation before answering, "I just quit my job in the US. Didn't feel my heart was into it much and the people were annoying," Seemed like a good enough reason by then now she was being doubtful. "Now I'm job hunting, I studied Diplomacy and used to be a PA," Which was her area she just needed to find the right people to find. "And I came to the park because I obviously have a lot of time on my hands," she answered picking up a pebble and flicking it towards the pond.

Tiberius listened intently, watching her as she sat and tapped her chin. Annoying Americans, what a surprise. "I imagine that took a fair bit of courage," he offered when she'd finished. "Heading somewhere when you don't exactly know what you're headed toward." Exactly the opposite of him, it seemed. Which was why this moving thing was bugging him so much. They need a plan! They only had another 9 months to figure out what to do!

"Diplomacy? I imagine that can be challenging." In fact, Tiberius imagined that trying to avoid being eaten by a dragon was simpler than having to deal with diplomatic issues. Staring back across the water, Tiberius spied two people having what looked to be a bit of an argument, though he couldn't hear what they were saying. He chuckled, and then turned to Lara, thinking he should offer some sort of explanation.

"When I was younger, my mum and I would go to the park and sit on a bench and make up stories about the people we saw. It's... become a bit of a reflex now." He gestured across the water. "Couldn't help but make up a ridiculous story about their argument."

Good, he didn't think she was stupid. Or maybe he did but didn't want to be mean but then he didn't have to. "Yeah, I did feel brave back then," she chuckled remembering how she sashayed to her boss's office announcing her resigning. "It's just that I can't help but feel doubtful certain times," Which of course sucked. "But I hope the guilt and regret will fade when I get myself another job," The ministry hopefully!

She was going to say the same about dragons, the challenging part that is. "Is it? I don't know I quite enjoy it. M'good with words and discussions I suppose," It didn't take her lots of time to realize that was what she wanted to study. "For me, it's certainly easier than having to deal with dragons," she raised an eyebrow at him giving him a suspicious look, playfully. "Did you always like dangerous creatures?" Or were they? She wasn't quite sure.

Other people did that, too! Although, she used to do it alone but it was fun still. Her mother would have probably disapproved of her imagination and the way she made fun of some people, anyway. "I sometimes do that, too!" In a way. Her eyes followed his gaze and finding the couple he seemed to be talking about. She watched them thoughtfully before speaking, "I'd say one was late or forgot an important meeting some time earlier," Her eyes squinted trying to read the body language to see who looked angrier and who seemed to be pleading not guilty.

Tiberius nodded knowingly. If he understood anything really well, it was self-doubt. But at the same time, finding that thing that really excited you that made even the most challenging tasks seem enjoyable.

"Like dangerous.. oh goodness, no." He laughed, staring out over the water. "I enjoyed creatures, sure, but abraxans and snidgets and things like that." He rubbed the back of his head with his hand. "But when I was at school in Edinburgh after Hogwarts, I was studying herbology and cryptozoology and I started thinking about they're all connected and I started assisting professors with some more.. uh.. dangerous creature research." He chuckled, remembering the trip to Iceland. That's how they'd learned how soothing the click-clack of knitting needles could be to the scoffin on the glacier. "But I guess it's only fair to say I'm not going to work WITH the dragons. I'm leaving that to the actual colony staff. I'm going to look at how the dragons' presence impacts surrounding plants and animals." He shrugged. It was much more nerdy and far less dangerous than working WITH dragons. But, all the same, he could get eaten...

He laughed as she offered her thoughts on the couple across the pond. "See, I thought that maybe one of them had accidentally turned a pet kneazle into a teacup and then put him away in the cupboard, so when it changed back, it broke all the china so there were not plates for the picnic they planned to have." Tiberius nodded definitively. His mother was really the master of the absurd backstory, but he was getting there.

It's probably been ages since she last heard those creatures names. She didn't dislike creatures, at all actually but she barely got the time for recreational things. Which now made her think that she could fill her time with such things. Might as well start remembering what she liked and disliked back when she wasn't a PA who was constantly busy doing things for annoying, ungrateful people. "Cool," An absolutely different career path from hers, still cool. "I'd say that's smarter," She chuckled. Better keep distance while still being able to observe all the things plus the studying part. And did he sau Hogwarts?! "I went to Hogwarts, too," she chipped in. "Only for four years, though," Which surprisingly she remembered all very well.

Hearing his idea got a loud laugh out of her. She probably should have paid attention to the fact that she was now staring at the couple but yeah, couldn't care at the moment. Besides they were pretty busy. "I like your theory better," she admitted. "The one on the right does seem ready to offer all the money to make up for the smashed items," Or so she thought it looked like it. "Not that the other one looks like the easily satisfied type," Since they've been going on for quite a while now.

"Think they'll make up or one's going to storm off in a bit?" Should they like make bets. That'd be funny, although there wasn't a way of knowing the real deal. Since it would be absolutely weird to go up and ask them.

Whoaaaaakay, now they were holding hands. This was so weird. SOWEIRD. He was listening, he was listening to her voice OKAY! But he was not at all relaxing or breathing like she was... there were too many sights and sounds in the park that he would rather be doing or watching right now.

So he popped open an eye, first to stare at Ember and then to peek around at the others on their lunch breaks. He did some loud and over-exaggerated breathing just in case she could hear him over the sound of herself.

Andddd then he started scooting away. Scoot scoot. Scoot a bit more. He should probably just... head out now, yeah? Since it didn't seem like Ember cared too much for her lost and possessed shoes?

Tiberius turned back to look at her when she said she'd gone to Hogwarts, trying to guess at her age. But if she was only there four years and they were just of slightly different ages, it would have been possible that they never overlapped. "I was only there four years, as well. My first two... and my last two." He shrugged. "Ravenclaw. Class of 76." Even if he had missed a sizable chunk at Hogwarts, he was still proud to be part of that house. Though, a tiny piece of him would always been in love with Beauxbatons, as well.

He smiled at her laugh. Good. She'd seemed like she'd had a lot on her mind. He shrugged, though, at her question. He wasn't really one to linger on a backstory. "Eh." He looked around the park, and spotted a pair holding hands. But the man seemed to be not terribly into whatever was happening as he tried to scoot away.

"What about them?" he said, nodding his head toward the new pair. "What's their story?"

Ravenclaw. Explained the researching and the thirst for knowledge. hehe. "I went there for only the first four. Transferred to Salem and graduated from there. Class of '79," she explained. She paused trying to figure out if they went there in the same year but they couldn't have gone. She wasn't school age for his first two years then she'd already left for Salem for his last two. "I was a Slytherin, though." And she wished she did stay in Hogwarts but that was a very old issue which she totally made peace with.

The couple turned instantly boring when they seemed to have calmed down. Bleh. Couldn't they have been entertaining for a little longer?

Lara's head turned to where Tiberius was looking now. The woman had her eyes closed while the man looked completely uncomfortable and ready to bolt. "Whatever she thinks she's doing, he doesn't look interested in it one bit," she snorted amused. Either the woman was completely clueless or she was aware and finding it enjoyable to torture the man.
