At the end of the long corridor of floos is a pair of magnificent Golden Gates that Ministry employees and visitors alike must pass through to gain entrance to the Atrium. Stationed behind a podium at the Ministry's entrance, and impossible to miss as you pass through the gates, is our wonderful Welcome Witch or Wizard. The person stationed there is not only to greet all that enter the Ministry, but also to assist visitors in any way they can. Between directing visitors and answering what ever questions they may have, the Welcome Witch or Wizard can be found handing out smiley face stickers to match that warm smile of theirs. Beside them is a sign-in sheet that all visitors wishing to enter must sign and get a pass before heading inside the Ministry proper. Naturally all Ministry employees don't need to do this as they have their respective department badges after all.

Just past the Golden Gates there is a desk and an alarming looking machine. There is always a security officer and a wand-weigher located here, ready to inspect and register the wands of visitors and employees alike. Purely precautionary measures. Nothing to be concerned with...unless your purpose of visit is of the dark variety.
The machine itself are large and bulky and made of brass. There are tubes and dials, meters and whistles and upon presenting your wand to the wand-weigher, it will be checked by this machine and registered to you. The Ministry is charmed so that if a wand is fired, some information can be gathered about who might have been responsible. It isn't an exact art.
On the bright side if you lose your wand or someone else takes it, the wand-weigher can find out.

Your character should pass through here before entering the Ministry proper. This is where visitors are encouraged to roleplay! Once you have signed in, feel free to post on through to the appropriate area of the Ministry, (just make sure you start by coming through here, pick up a visitors pass, and be willing to accept the consequences if it's a restricted area!)

It had been ages since Frankie had last used the visitors' entrance to the Ministry of Magic. His memory of his first time in the government building had flooded back in his mind as he made his descent to the Atrium from the phone booth. This time, however, he wasn't arriving alone for orientation into the YATI programme (there was no need to comment on just how many years ago that was, by the way). Today he was going to work with one person who was near and dear to him: his few-months-shy-of-being-a-seventeen-year-old daughter.
"First stop is to that podium, my Star," he told Nova, pointing a finger at the smiling woman who was getting other visitors sorted out. "The Welcome Witch will get you started. Standard procedure: signing in, getting a visitor badge, weighing of the wand."
The Auror of course was staying right by his eldest daughter's side, just to make sure everything went smoothly prior to making their way past the golden gates.

Nova Leigh Paton, aka daddy’s little ice princess {sorry, Bryony}, resisted the urge to cling to Frankie in her utter delight at finally being able to have a grand tour of the Ministry. “How long has it been here since you joined the Ministry, dad?” The rising seventh year gave him an impish smile before turning her attention back to the impressive layout of the Atrium. Someday… someday, this place would be known to her like the back of her hands! Someday soon, she’d follow in Franklin Paton’s footsteps of being an iconic Auror.
The Podium. Nova spied the smiling lady. “Must be a hectic job,’’ she commented lightly as they father-daughter pair made their way to the Podium. “To have to deal with so many humans and questions each day.” Nova would rather face off a hundred Dementors at once that have the Welcome Witch’s job. The other woman was quite efficient, and in no time Nova was handed a smiley face sticker. “Thank you!” Quickly she signed in, providing the required information:
Quote:
Name: Nova Leigh Paton Purpose of visit: To have an audience with the Minister, Mr. Bumble and the rest of the esteemed DMLE, mainly. To visit the other departments, in general.
Nova wiggled her fingers at the witch in goodbye. “So, daddy dearest,’’ she continued somewhat distracted as the back of the sticker was removed so that the sticky end was revealed. “Where to next?” As the question was asked, the sticker was placed on the left side of her dress, just below the collarbone where it stood out starkly against her white dress. Right below the sticker, the visitor's badge was put on display.

For a moment he acted as if he hadn't heard his daughter's question. In all honesty, the Auror was adding up the years in his mind, though it wound up being a number he did not want to hear himself say out loud. Having four kids was all he needed to remind himself that he was not as young as he used to be. "Long enough. I've been here since I graduated Hogwarts. You do the maths," he eventually told Nova, a cheeky grin on his face
As for her comment about the Welcome Witch having a hectic job, he replied with a simple "Everyone's job can be hectic at times. All come with their ups and downs." There was a time he would have argued that some jobs were more stressful than others. However, the Ministry was like a machine: it needed everyone to do its part to function properly, through the good times and the bad.
The man remain silent beside his daughter as she interacted with the Welcome Witch. When all was said and done, he gave the woman a polite nod of his head and ushered Nova past the gate. "First over there to the wand-weigher, and then we can head right up to my level."

And for a while, Nova assumed her father was completely ignoring her question. Nova had no intention of pushing it either, though she certainly thought that Frankie had all right to brag and be proud of how long he’d been working at the Ministry. But Frankie did answer, and Nova giggled. “It’s a miracle your head isn’t fully grey as yet.” Her precious dad. How dreary her life would be without him!
She considered his words. “Fair enough.” After all, there were countless times when she had seen the toll Frankie’s and Hady’s respective jobs could take on them. Nova had never worked a day in her life, of course, not even part-time at a coffee shop but this ice princess appreciated the art of diligent work. Watching her parents had instilled this value in her.
Nova eagerly headed through the gates as Frankie said the magic words: my level. It was all she could do to suppress the jig that she was tempted to perform. “Excellent! Do you think Mr. Bumble will have some spare time to meet with me?” she asked curiously as the pair came up to the wand weigher. “Hello, there.” Smiling, Nova handed over her wand. She eyed the machine suspiciously. It truly looked outdated and ancient in her opinion. Couldn’t the Ministry develop something more subtle?

Having been made aware of the arrangements for a certain young Paton to be visiting the ministry today, Simon had made sure to keep around the atrium in the morning. He might not be allowed to check his own son in per said son’s request, but he can surely handle this welcome. So, when he spotted Frankie at the Golden Gates, the young woman beside him interacting with the welcome witch, the security head made his way over to the wand weighing station.
Just like old times.
“Hello Miss Paton,” Simon greeted the girl with a polite smile as she greeted him and handed over her wand with less trouble than some adult visitors. Now that was something to be proud of Frankie. “Thank you,” he added accepting it with a nod of acknowledgement and setting it within the machine to let it do its work. “I’m Simon Bennett, head of security here so let me welcome you to the ministry as well. Can you tell me about your wand?” he asked, offering the same question asked to anyone else coming in to confirm what the machine was reading.

If anyone pointed out the fact that she was being waited upon, much like the Queen of Britain, Nova’s ego would have inflated tenfold. Once again, it could not be stressed upon how over the moon she was about being here. Now, as Nova had promised daddy loveliest to be a decent and not so sassy young woman during her tour of the Ministry, there was no way she would be a delinquent in handing over her wand.
“Hi, Mr. Bennett! Nifty machine you’ve got there.” Nova beamed. “Thank you! Thrilled to be here, honestly.” Could he tell by the way she was bouncing on her feet? “That there is an eleven and a half inches of quite flexible spruce with unicorn tail hair.” It was quite well taken care of too, polished just the night before.

A laugh escaped him following the comment made by his daughter. He knew that she was just teasing him, of course. Though he had to admit it didn't make him feel any less old. In fact, walking around his place of work wasn't helping with that either. Wasn't it just yesterday she was wearing nappies? "I think we're just lucky that your grandfather is CEO of a Sleekeazy's branch. Comes with many perks. Keeps me looking young after all these years."
As for Nova's question about the department head, Frankie thought on it for a moment before giving an answer. "He's often a pretty busy man, running a department and all. But he is aware that you are going to be around today, so I am sure he'll make some time if his schedule isn't too full today." Time would tell on that one.
Seeing Simon at the station was a relief. He'd much rather the man be present than someone else who was a little more on the gruffier side. The blond gave the man a nod of his head in greeting and let the interaction between his daughter and the Head of Security unfold.

Nova in nappies yesterday? Oh, you silly papa of hers! How she adored you and your constant reminiscing. There was a giggle from her. “Our family, extended and all, has great genes though so give yourself some credit, dad.’’ Said genes would come in handy because this Star wanted to look naturally great for as long as she possibly could.
The teen nodded, understanding all too well how work could consume someone’s life. Dear papa was a shining example of such, though how he managed to balance work and personal life remained a mystery to her. Maybe she would someday work this out for herself. “I’ll be happy even if he just has time to say ‘hi’.’’ Little did Nova know that she would find herself having a smoothie with her new friend, Mr. Bumblebee.
And with the other man before her who was busy with her wand currently.

Simon returned the silent nod he was given by the auror with one of his own in acknowledgement of the greeting. But it was clear this was Nova’s visit. “It certainly is…I’ve grown to find it quite useful.” Even if his first run-ins as a wand weigher had been as either punishment or hazing for young YATIs by supervisors and department heads that meant to keep them grounded. Had worked on him, Simon couldn’t be sure of others. “You’re welcome,” the security man not needing her comment to know how excited she was to be there. He had a feeling this wouldn’t be the only time she’d pass this way…not by a long shot.
Merlin help Frankie should she follow in his footsteps. A part of the man glad neither Noah nor Grace seemed inclined.
As for her wand, Simon listened intently as she described it, carefully matching it up to what the machine was putting out in the results of its testing. “And we have an absolute match,” he confirmed with a nod as he retrieved the wand from the machine and handed it back hilt first to the girl. “You’re all set,” the security head assured her, wondering what she would make of the Ministry during her time there, And if a certain department head would indeed have time for her. “Enjoy your visit.”

Maybelle Pepper stood at the podium by the Golden Gates of the Ministry, her ever-present bright smile lighting up the grand entrance hall. Today, she wore her signature vibrant purple robes, the rich fabric shimmering under the hall's enchanted lights. The robes were adorned with pins that subtly shifted in colour, from deep emerald to a soft cerulean, adding a touch of whimsy to her professional attire. Each pin was a tiny masterpiece, depicting magical creatures and symbols that seemed to dance with life.
Belle's posture was impeccable, exuding both confidence and approachability. Her brown eyes, framed by a cascade of red curls, sparkled with a mix of curiosity and warmth as she greeted each person who approached the gates. Her voice, a melodious blend of friendliness and efficiency, carried effortlessly through the bustling hall, ensuring everyone felt noticed and welcomed.
"Welcome to the Ministry of Magic!" she called out, her tone radiating enthusiasm. "How can I assist you today?" Her words were accompanied by a graceful gesture, inviting each visitor to step forward with ease.
