"Well, what did you hear? There are some well placed Chimaeras, so their information might in fact be true. Whatever it is, I really don't understand why its such a secret." He rose and crossed the cabin, grabbing up his book and returning it to his internal pocket. "Sorry," he added sheepishly. "I hate to see a book so abused."

Faylinn laughed as he picked the book up, "Oh its alright. I understand being a book lover myself, if you hadn't I would've." She smiled and then thought back to the conversation she over heard. "Well the group I heard it from aren't the most reliable but it seemed to be something about a 'cup'? I kinda just walked off after that." Fay shrugged.

Crystal sat silently in a small cabin to herself reading through some spell book, to get a heads start on the spells they would be learning in this coming year. After all this was her fourth year at Durmstrang and she would be testing for OWLS before she knew it, although she had some time before she had to really worry about them.


Her thoughts were interupted by the tingling, prickeling sensation she was feeling in her legs, she had been sitting way to long and now her legs were 'falling asleep'. Setting down her book, she took out a pink ribbon which she tied around her hair and walked out into the hallway to see students walking all about. She scanned everyone looking for someone she knew, preferably a friend, but anyone to talk to would be nice, she thought to herself...

Let me appologize a billion times before hand for joining so late. But, I finally read all 14 pages and am all caught up and back to stay. So, here we go.

Short Bio:Jesse is the Great-Great Grandaughter of the former Headmaster of Hogwarts, Professor Dippet. Professor Dippet's grandson moved from England, and into the country of Bulgaria, where Jesse has resided her entire life. She lives with both her parents, an older sister, and a younger brother. She is straight-forward and tells it just like she sees it. She has a small mouse that is very rarely found out of her jacket pocket, named Tim.

Jesse had been one of the first on the ship, and just as she had from her very first year on the magnificent ship, she went straight to the Captain's Deck. She loved watching the crew man the ship, though it was nothing like the way Muggles managed a boat. The Captain always let her help, and every once in a while, steer the ship. She always loved the entire trip to Durmstrang castle, and this year was no exception.

"How can you have power and not want to use it?" Gavin muttered. "That makes no sense whatsoever."

Sighing and shaking his head, Gavin stood up, Sobek cradled in his arms. "I'm going for a walk," he said, openin gup the door and peering out to be sure his adversaries were no longer around.

As boredom ate him up, he chose to go back to his own cabin and maybe read books or do something that would make him busy and enjoy. He turned right and there he was in his own cabin.

He moved towards his big luggage to get something out of it. He opened the lock and started digging in his trunk. Clothes, books, some ingredients for Potions and other more stuff. After five minutes or so, he found the book he was searching for. “The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection” by Quentin Trimble, one of his favorites.

Short Bio:

Nikolai's platinum blond hair is a testament to his solid Russian roots though his family. He owns several cats at home and one of them, a Russian Blue named Zephyr, he brings with him to school.

Generally well-liked, he's considered a bit prattish at times due to his upbringing and is sometimes teased for his more-than-obvious Russian heritage. He's honest, intelligent, and has a razor-sharp tongue and wit when provoked. He's neither shy nor outgoing, but isn't afraid to speak his mind.

He has a very logical mind - "coldly" logical at times - and for some reason, is excellent at anything that requires the working with numbers. For this, he excels at Arithmancy, yet fails miserably at Divination.

He enjoys Quidditch, but doesn't play on the team because of a health concern that has sent him to the infirmary every term the flu season hits. He does however, regularly practice Calisthenics, a form of gymnastics that helps keep the body toned while being low-impact. He's physically fit and agile, and if anyone could squeeze into tight spaces, it's him, though he HATES enclosed spaces.

His family line have been strong defenders against the Dark Arts, though several generations back, his family line was just the opposite. This is a fact he acknowledges and it has caused him worry that perhaps there's a dark side within himself as well. Thus, DADA is a weakness for him and is certainly something he needs to work on.

Up until his fourth year, he has been doing very well, but as classes become more difficult and the tone of school becomes more serious, he has to face up to his challenges and make amends with his internal conflict.

Nikolai sighed and washed his face in the sink in his cabin. He peered into the mirror and shook his head and dried his face. He had just gotten over being sick and being on a ship was doing nothing to make him feel much better.

"Chyort..." He quelled another urge to worship the porcelain bowl and managed to swallow the anti-motion sickness medication he had brought with him.

His older brother had seen him off and had left him at the dock faster than he could say, "thank you" and he wasn't in the mood to watch everyone else saying their goodbyes so he had gone straight to his cabin.

He supposed that the fact that his stomach had decided to do a flip-flop the moment he had stepped on board was as just as good of a reason to excuse himself from the farewells.

After a few minutes, his stomach finally settled and he straightened his clothes and headed out out his cabin. Zephyr mreowed at him quietly and he paused long enough for the cat to jump from his luggage to his shoulder and nestle in his arms as he passed by.

Perhaps now that his stomach had settled, he could enjoy the view and ocean breeze. He headed to the bow, pulling his robes a little tighter around himself.

Alexander scrubbed his chin with his hand as he sat down again on the berth, this time kicking his feet up to prop on another berth. "Fay!" he scolded her good-naturedly. "What good are you if you walk away in the middle of such an enticing conversation? Where's that natural Bundimun curiosity? For all we know, they could have been talking about silverware after they finished speaking of cups, and now we'll never know." He rolled his eyes at stupid Chimaeras to get excited over silly things before quirking a grin at the girl.

Nikolai shoved his hands into his pockets as he leaned over the railing and looked over the water. The wind was picking up and his hair flew about his face in a disarray. Too late, he realized his hair had come undone and he reached behind him just a millisecond too late to catch the thin dragon-leather thong that kept his hair in place. He watched as it made a ripple of red in the wind against the sky.

Wand in hand a second later, he summoned the hair article back and retied his hair, this time making sure to double-wrap and double-knot.

Zephyr, who had been draped over his shoulders, suddenly leapt off gracefully and wrapped himself around his leg and purred and started wandering off towards the stern of the ship.

"Oh all right, all right. You may wander around if you like, but I'm following you."

He took a last look over the railing and followed his cat.

Having just slammed the door behind her, leaving Lance standing inside the cabin, misplaced, she walked quietly, slowly, without any real observation, lazily trailing a hand over the wall as she went by. To her right she coul hear Gavin ranting, but not really caring, she chose not to listen to his words. In response she could Anna trying to calm him.

Glancing outside, she could see Fay now in a deep discussion with Alexander. ared was nowhere to be seen inside and any other students she saw, she did not recognise.

Feeling slightly lonely, wishing perhaps she hadn't come after all, she slid down the wall and landed with a small thud on her bum, back against the walls, legs curled up to her chest.

After scanning the hallways for a bit, she saw mostly friends already in discussions, talking about the upcomong school year, qudditch and there summer vacations. Feeling in no mood to disrupt anyone, or make an enemey on the first day, she decided it was maybe best to just go mind her own business on the deck. Not to mention the hallway was a bit 'stuffy' for her, so some freash air would be a nice.

As she walked out, on the deck, she was her usual self, wrapped up in thoughts, as she ran into a poor innocent cat along the way. "Oh, I am so sorry, really I am, I need to pay more attention to where I am going, I just get so engrossed in what I am thinking usu-" she cut herself short "sorry" she whispered, realizing that she was rambling on to a complete stranger she had never saw.

Sobek was getting restless so, Gavin let him jump down and walk ahead of him. The silver cat coming back to wind his way between Gavin's legs every once in a while. It was a gesture that might trip up or cause another person to stop but, Gavin was used to it and had learned to keep walking relatively normally while having a cat wander around his feet. Sobek dissappeared out onto the deck and around the corner, apparently the fickle storm had petered out while he had been bickering inside. He stepped out onto the deck and looked over to his right. There was a girl, seemingly in conversation with Sobek. He stepped up behind the cat and the girl stopped her speaking abruptly.

Sobek took a leap and clawed the rest of the way up Gavin's robes to take up perch over his shoulders. Gavin pulled a few straying back hairs behind his ears and stared down at the girl, an amazing feat really, seeing as how most of the students seemed to be taller than him. Perhaps, one day, he'd finally hit his growth spurt. It was quite embarrassing to be the shortest boy in his year by a good several inches.

"Hey, I am Crystal, 4th year in Phoenix" she muttered fastly, realizing she didn't even introduce herself, the boy must think she was insane, or very rude. Either way she was not making a good impression. Just what she wanted to avoid on the first day. Noticing some silence she spoke up a bit, "That's a gorgeous cat you have, does it have a name?" she asked, knowing that it probably did, but her social skills lacked, especially in front of guys, and she had no clue what else to say, having a feeling that the guy would walk away leaving her on the deck looking like a fool.

Gavin narrowed his eyes. Phoenix, fouth year, just like Riddle.... "His name is Sobek," he answered, petting Sobek and feeling a bit insulted on behalf of his cat.

He grinned at Crystal's obvious unease and extended his tanned hand. "Gavin Ormand," he said. "Fourth year, Chimaera."

She shook his hand and smiled slightly. "Nice to meet you, and Sobek" she said feeling a bit more comfortable with talking to Gavin, although she still did not know what to think of him. "So... looking forward to be back at Durmstrang, for your fourth year?" she questioned, trying to figure out a bit more of Gavin. Out of all four years she had attended Durmstrang she never saw Gavin, which she wasen't sure rather that was a good or bad thing. Maybe he was in her classes but she never really payed attention to him or maybe he wasen't. He seemed rather nice, but then again he was a Chimaera, so first impressions might not always be correct.

Gavin considered his answer, stroking Sobek's head as he purred. He wasn't sure if he was looking forward to it or not. On the one hand, he'd be able to attend his classes which, for the most part, intrigued him as much as they did any Bundimun, though he would never willingly admit it. On the other hand, it would be another year surrounded by fools and he would much rather be locked up in the family manner, away from all of that nonsense.

"I suppose," he said, settling on a neutral answer. It wasn't as if he had to answer her truthfully, even if they had been friends, he wouldn't have admitted his true feelings on the matter. As it was, he barely even recognized this girl, though he was sure she had been in a few of his classes. "How about you?"

"To a degree" she answered "there are the good and bad things of every year and one can only experience both." she replied, realizing she might of confused Gavin. She knew what she was thinking, but he was no mind reader, so she decided to elaborate a bit... "what I mean is that there are the ups and down of every year so it will be nice to be back, yet it won't be."

She turned to face the water for a momet, the deep blue water with just a hint of sparkle that was casted down from the shining sun far above them in the sky, spreading warmth to those who were outside. She looked back at Gavin, "what classes do you enjoy?" still trying to figure out something about him, it seemed as if this may be harder then she thought, he seemed very secretive.

Gavin listened to her rambling, rolling his eyes as she went on and on about nothing. He considered just turning his back on her and walking away but, she proved to be more amusing than he had thought when she asked him another question. He snorted in disbelief and leaned on the railing. Turning his head, he looked at her as he spoke. "Dark Arts..." he said, and after a short pause, continued. "And charms."

"Oh, cool", I should know thatm she thought to herself, 'duh! he's a Chimaera' feeling as if he wanted nothing more to do with her, she decided maybe it was better to go and find someone she knew or go back to her room and read another book or something. "Well, nice meeting you" she said smiled sweetly and turned to walk away, in the opposite direction to a empty bench that was in view.

She took a seat on the shaded side of the bench crossed her legs and stared at all the talking and wandering people were doing, feeling as if she did not want to eavesdrop or bother anyone else she went back to her own thoughts as she stared into the distance, wondering when they would reach the long destination, of Durmstrang.

He watched her leave and turned back to watch the sea. But, he was too distracted and found he couldn't clear his mind of the thoughts which kept creeping into his conciousness. Cursing his curiosity, he walked over to the bench and sat beside Crystal. "So..." he said, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back casually, trying to formulate his question. "You're in Phoenix, are you? So... Do you know the Riddle girl?"

She looked over to Gavin sitting on the bench "Oh, I thought you had lost interest" she said sarcastically. "And yes I know Marcella Riddle" she said with little to no emotion, then added "We have talked a bit in the last few years" she responded "and now I can ask back, because it's a natural reaction, why do you want to know?" she said a bit more interested, in what he may have to say.

He sneered at her as Sobek crawled into his lap, seeking attention. Gavin absently stroked his back as he responded. "No reason," he said, looking away from Crystal, knowing his answer wouldn't sate her but, not really knowing the answer himself.

Why was he asking? His brow furrowed and he considered just walking away for the second time before he thought of another question. "Are the rumours true?" he asked. "Is she really..."

Crystal had a sneaking suspicion he was lieing to her but decided against saying anything, she was already pretty much on his bad side, and why make it worse? So she sat silently playing with her fingers. And once again Gavin spoke up... once again about Marcella "Well, if you want to know I recommend you ask her, I am not one for approving or disapproving rumors, the only way to find out the truth is to ask the person the rumor is about and they will answer." she said then continued "I despise rumors and do not forwarded nor usually even pay close attention to them, but yes I know about Marcella" she whispered.

He frowned. There was no way he was speaking to that girl again until he had a chance to study her. She was the most ornary, most annoying, most.... He stopped that line of thought. If he didn't know any better... Gavin slid closer to Crystal at her whispered comment, "But yes I know about Marcella."

He slid close enough that their legs were touching. Gavin looked around and then stared into Crystal's eyes, his chin almost resting on her shoulder. "What do you know?" he whispered back to her.
