Default That Summer - V.4

Once again this is a continued role-play created by hazydazy012, kept ever so strong and alive by it's loyal RPers. As the title says, this is version (4) four, the first three threads have reached their post limits. From the original thread:

One year at Hogwarts a mysterious spell was cast that not even the professors can undo. You wouldn't be able to see a difference at Hogwarts, just looking at the school, but it actually made magic impossible! Not a single person or creature could cast a spell while in the school. How are the students supposed to learn when they can't try out the new spells? Sure, most were devestated, (Especially the 7th years! How are they supposed to finish their last year?!) but of course, some were estatic too! Who doesn't want to have a longer summer vacation? So, most students go home in high spirits TWO months before Hogwarts was officially supposed to be let out for summer break. Only one week into their luxuriously long holiday, every student recieves this letter:

"It is mandatory for any students who want to complete their year to attend "La Bacchetta Magica", a summer learning camp for wizards located in a small getaway near Tuscany. You will be finishing up the studies that were unfinished at Hogwarts. Please bring your wand and other necessary items for regular classes."

Fantastic. Some are angry, but most are excited! I mean, it's called "The Magic Wand" in Italian, for goodness sakes. It's gotta be fun. And guess what?! It is! Everyone is having a great time with the mix of school and just plain summer camp fun! How will the Divinations in the morning and campfires at night affect the students? You decide!

Please join! There will need to be a few professors/camp counselors! Even number of boys and girls, please. Post a bio with a picture, thanks!

(P.S. I looked up "La Bacchetta Magica" and it told me "The Magic Wand" but it was only an online translator. If I'm wrong, then whoops! Heehee)

OOC: I'm off for now Dee and Ana! Byyyeeeeee Ladddiiieeesssss!

Though Vianna was unaware of this, it was clear that Ferris was very aware of the fact that Vianna could never outwardly appear to be a boy, no matter what she did. And so, when she mentioned that she didn't want his father thinking that he was dating another guy, he let out a laugh, "There's no way anyone could mistake you for a boy," he told her with a warm smile before she then asked how they would get to this meeting place. "Uh, I was thinking we could just floo to the piazza again, if that's alright?" he asked, slight hesitance coming back into his features as the subject returned to his father.

Kayla smiled, glad Vince choose to be on the other team. This way she could beat him, because there was no doubt in her mind that she would. She made no reply to his comment, instead watching him go after Victor who had the quaffle, and Kayla flew to a flying bludger, and hit it towards Vince.

ooc: Awww, bye!

Vianna smiled as Ferris assured her there was no way anyone could confuse her for a boy before he then suggested they floo over to the piazza. "Sounds good," said Vianna with a nod, leading the way over to the fireplace and taking the tiny coffer resting atop of it into her hands. She pulled out some of the green floo powder and handed Ferris a handful of it before taking some for herself. With the floor powder in hand, she stepped into the fireplace and a moment later disappeared in a fire of green flames.

Poor Vince was so distracted keeping a close eye on his older brother and chasing him around the group, that he didn't have the slightest clue of what was coming his way - a bludger flying at about a million miles per hour. It wasn't until the ball had hit him hard on the back of the head and nearly knocked him over that he realized what had happened. "Bloody hell!" He brought a hand up and passed it over the sore spot on the back of his head before turning to the culprit behind it all. "So your brother wasn't being sarcastic after all! You are a bloodthirsty murderer!"

Kayla had expected Vince to dodge the attack, but that he'd get distracted. She hadn't expected that Vince wouldn't notice and get hit. She smiled slightly when he said that she was a bloodthirsty murderer. It was kind of funny. "Oops," she said, with an innocent smile.

Vince narrowed his blue eyes at the girl as she gave him an innocent 'oops' which he, of course, did not find apologetic at all. "Enjoy you triumph while you can, Kay, this is the first and last time you're getting me," he said, determined to be more alert from now on; there was no way he was going to let her knock him off his broom like she'd done to that other boy earlier.

"I will, Vince, because it's going to last." She said, simply. She chuckled in an amused way when he said it was the first and last time she was getting him. "If that's what you're going to think." Kayla shrugged, before smirking.

Vince rolled his eyes as Kayla assured him that her tiumph would last. But it was right at that moment that he caught sight of the Vincenzis' little house-elf standing outside on the sand, calling out to the group in Italian. The boys froze for a second before very suddenly and abruptly lowering their brooms down to the ground and nearly running into the house. Costa disapparated out of sight before she could get run over. "We'll continue this little war of ours after the break," he told Kayla before joining the group that was heading into the house, all obviously starved from hours of playing out in the burning hot Italian summer sun.

OOC: Posts might be a bit slow, really a busy bee today!

Ferris followed Vianna over to the fireplace, taking the powder into his hand as nerves began to set in on his stomach. It just seemed to dawn on him that he was really going to see his father that day...and the nerves fell in like butterflies. He watched Vianna disappear absentmindedly before stepping into the fireplace after her and doing the same. He appeared in the floo hub right next to Vianna and flashed the girl a small smile as he took her hand. "Alright, Mum said that he's waiting outside the cafe around the piazza," he murmured, his hand clammy as it intwined their fingers. He cleared his throat as they made their way outside into the piazza and his brown eyes began to search for his father.

ooc: No prob!

Vianna returned the small smile Ferris gave her as he took her hand, telling her where his father was supposed to be meeting them. She nodded her head slightly and followed his lead out of the busy hub, and out onto the crowded piazza, most of its inhabitants being tourists. She looked around, though she wasn't sure what she was looking for. Well, yeah, Ferris's dad, but she wasn't sure what the man looked like. She had only seen a couple pictures of him before when she'd stayed at the boy's house a few weeks ago, but the memory was a bit foggy now. All she remembered was that Ferris resembled him. A lot.

It took about three or four minutes of silent searching through the crowd with his hesitant brown eyes for Ferris to find what he was looking for. Just across from them was a small cafe with a few tables outdoors, filled to the brim with people except for one table that was occupied only by a pale man in his early forties. He was wearing a nice dress shirt and tie, along with dress pants, looking completely different to the casually dressed people laughing and chatting around him; his posture and expression seeming to scream uncomfortability. But there was no denying the resemblance. The man was pale, just a little more tan than Ferris himself, and he had a full head of dark brown, bouncy curls. Unlike Ferris's, however, they were styled, appearing to be less natural and slicked back just enough to look professional, trimmed to perfection. He had crystal blue eyes, lighter than most, and he was a substantial height as well, his limbs a little lanky though a little more muscled with age. He looked young, but tired, despite his middle-aged state, and the only real giveaway to his age were the small lines around his mouth and bright eyes.

Ferris gulped slightly to himself as his brown eyes fixed upon the man a good few yards away and gently tugged Vianna's hand. "There he is," he murmured, though didn't appear to be moving. Actually, he appeared to be frozen to the spot.

Vianna was still looking around hopelessly after Ferris had already spotted his father, her expression a bit puzzled and her blue eyes squinted under the bright sunlight. But it was then that Ferris spoke, announcing that his father was there. Vianna turned sharply to him and then followed his line of sight over to the older man who, just as her foggy memories indicated, resembled his son an awful lot; or the other way around, whichever. Vianna watched him for a moment before turning back to Ferris and seeing he seemed to have no intentions of moving any time soon. She gave him a small sympathetic smile and tugged his hand gently before beginning to make her way through the crowds of tourists. "C'mon, Professor."

Ferris's feet began to move as Vianna began to lead him over to where his father was, giving a small, very weak smile as she gave him a sympathetic one. His hands grew sweaty, clammy, and cold, his left one only warmed by Vianna's small one intwined with it. After a minute of moving through the crowd that seemed like milliseconds, the boy was within a few feet of the man he hadn't seen for years. He gulped very softly, hesitance clear in his brown eyes as he tried to decide whether or not to say, 'Dad?' or just sit down. He didn't know the protocol for these things. Luckily for him, he didn't have to, as a moment later Nathaniel Montgomery turned his head to see the couple just feet before him. He smiled at the sight, though there was the same hesitance in his blue eyes that was shining in Ferris's at the moment. "Ferris," he said, his voice a little on the deeper side, and warm, like cookies right out of the oven. The scary thing, really, was that smile. Nathaniel carried nearly the exact same smile as his son; broad and happy, just barely lopsided and handsome. "Dad," the boy replied shortly, uncertainty on his pale face.

It wasn't hard for Vianna to sense the nervousness and hesitance coming from the boy beside her, but there was no turning back now. Especially after Mr. Montgomery caught sight of them and acknowledged his son's presence. Vianna's eyebrows rose slightly at the resemblance between the two, now even easier to see when there weren't hundreds of tourists between them. And as the boy and the older man acknowledged each other, Vianna had that feeling... that feeling that had first made her decline Ferris's invite to joining him in meeting his father; she felt like an intruder, someone who wasn't supposed to be there. These weren't two old friends, these were a father and a son and she felt she really had no business being there. She didn't let her own discomfort show through, though, not wanting to be rude or anything, and kept her features serene as a small smile settled on her lips. Awkward or not, it was still far too amusing and rather fascinating for her to see just how much Ferris and his father looked alike.

Despite Vianna's awkward feeling, Ferris seemed to be keeping hold of her hand like it was the only life line he had, his brown eyes a little wide as he attempted to keep his cool. "Why don't you sit down?" Mr. Montgomery asked, gesturing to the two seats across from him and Ferris gave a weak smile and a brief nod, taking a seat after pulling one out for Vianna. Mr. Montgomery watched this, though his blue eyes seemed glued to the young boy before him, watching with almost disbelief at Ferris's expression and the way he walked; everything from the scruff on his face to the way his brown eyes were exactly like his mother's. The boy, who stared at the table for a good few seconds, seemed a little unnerved by the man's constant gaze and quickly took the opportunity to change his father's interest point. "U-Uh, this...dad," he paused for a moment, not used to using this word, "This is my girlfriend, Vianna," he said with a small nod, and a weak smile, glancing over to Vianna.

"Oh," the man said with an understanding nod, turning his blue eyes over to the young girl at his son's side. He seemed to review her with a polite approving smile, always seeming friendly but a little distant, though he extended a hand, "It's a pleasure to meet you Vianna."

"Thank you," said Vianna quietly as Ferris pulled out a chair for her, directing her smile in his direction for a brief second before sitting down. She watched with a bit of amusement as Mr. Montgomery studied his son before ripping her gaze away to their surroundings distractedly, knowing staring too much was rude. However, she didn't want to be rude by seeming to ignore the other two either, a little paranoid about her actions now, and turned her gaze to Ferris instead. It was then that he spoke, introducing her as his girlfriend. It was a bit weird, she couldn't deny; they didn't get to introduce each other to family members often. Or at least this formally. Vianna's gaze traveled over to Mr. Montgomery with a small smile, though for the most part she still looked like that curious child she usually was. "Nice meeting you, too--" Vianna stopped abruptly as she met his hand. What was she supposed to call him? Mr. Montgomery, right? "Mr. Montgomery," she finished, a little amused by her own awkwardness before pulling herself back to her seat, looking a bit quizzical.

Ferris watched with vague amusement as Vianna shook hands with his father, though for the most part his expression remained hesitant and unsure. But Mr. Montgomery's expression seemed to be completely friendly as he shook Vianna's hand, giving her a warm smile before returning his hand to the table before him and turning his blue eyes back to his son. "So, Fer..." he started slowly.

"Ferris. I prefer Ferris," the boy interrupted, and he really didn't mind being called Fer. Anyone who knew him would know that, and it was obvious that he just didn't want his father calling him Fer. He turned his brown eyes back to his father with a small amount of chill behind the awkwardness as he remembered exactly who the man before him was.

"Oh...Alright, Ferris, then," the man said, a small amount of unexpected awkwardness coming to his expression for a moment before he gave another small smile. "It looks like you're doing pretty good for yourself...girlfriend, new job on the way; you even have a beard coming in," Mr. Montgomery said with a soft chuckle, leaning back into his seat.

"Uh...Yeah, I guess I've got it pretty good," the boy replied before he realized what the man had just said. "Wait--How did you know that I have a new job?"

"Oh...Well, your mother and I've been talking a bit," he explained with a small smile, though Ferris's faded. "She told me a bit about what's been happening lately with you guys. We met up a couple weeks ago, in Northern Italy, actually. I was there on business and your mother was there for hiding, I suppose, and we ran into each other on the street. Isn't that funny?"

"Yes, very funny," the boy replied with the weakest of smiles, obviously not too comfortable.

Vianna listened quietly as the other two shared words, her blue eyes falling to a stack of napkins at the side of the table, as if it was the most interesting piece of art she had ever seen. But she couldn't help still feeling a bit like an intruder, it was weird. Her brows furrowed a bit, though, as Mr. Montgomery mentioned meeting up with Mrs. Montgomery and her blue eyes returned to Ferris for a moment before one of her hands came to rest upon his under the table for no real reason other than wanting to do so. Her eyes turned back to the man sitting before them and her expression was slightly curious though she remained quiet, watching this scene unfold.

Ferris looked up from his constant observation of the tabletop when Vianna took his hand and he turned to look at her for a small second, intwining their fingers beneath the table. Finding a new sort of warmth, he turned back to his father to listen as he continued to explain that he'd met Genny and they'd gone out to dinner. The boy didn't seem at all comfortable with this. "Are you trying to get back together with her?" he asked, cutting the man off in the middle of a sentence.

His father paused, surprised by the blunt interruption, but even moreso by the questions. "I-I..I was p-planning on..." he looked away for a moment, towards the table before continuing. "Well, yeah. I think I am," he finally spurted out, looking very much like Ferris when he didn't know what to say.

"What makes you think that you can just come back and try and hit on my mom?" Ferris asked, a bit of coldness to his tone as he lost the awkward atmosphere and replaced it with a more serious tone.

"Fer, you just wouldn't understand this--"

"It's Ferris."

"I-I.."

"And I understand perfectly well."

"I seriously doubt that," the man replied, looking awkward as he sat up slightly in his seat.

"I'm not twelve anymore. I'm not that little kid that used to hang on your every word and follow you around," the boy told him firmly, his brown eyes suddenly a little fiery as he held little back. "I understand that you left us. I understand that you've done very nicely for yourself, obviously, by the look of that suit. I understand that you want my mom back and I also understand that that will never happen as long as I'm around."

Vianna's face was rather expressionless though there was curiosity in her eyes as the boy at her side abruptly cut his father off, asking what was on his mind rather bluntly. She couldn't help but be somewhat amused as Mr. Montgomery began stuttering, sounding exactly like his son for a second there. But that was as far as her amusement went, as things seemed to only go downhill from there, the conversation taking a dark turn as Ferris spoke his mind freely but fierily, which caused Vianna's expression to turn slightly surprised for a brief second. She didn't like this; she didn't like it all. She was assuming all along that this scene would be filled with rainbows and butterflies and everything would have a happy ending, but it seemed she was wrong, and she couldn't help feeling rather pointless just sitting there listening to this private conversation between father and son. But what was she, the intruder, supposed to do? She sunk a bit in her seat and remained quiet, examining Mr. Montgomery's expression absentmindedly.

A small, awkward silence fell onto the table after Ferris's last words, Mr. Montgomery watching his son with analyzing blue eyes as the boy looked back with untrusting brown ones. It took a long moment, but finally Ferris broke this gaze and turned to the girl at his side, easily able to pick up her uncomfortability. He whispered to her ear, his tone much softer now, "Vi, you can go if you'd like," he told her quietly. "Actually, I'd prefer it if you did, I don't like you having to sit through this. As much as I do appreciate it."

Vianna snapped out of thoughts as Ferris spoke, letting her know she could go if she wanted to, that he'd actually prefer if she did as he didn't want her to have to sit through all this. Instinct told her to take this opportunity and flee the scene ASAP, but she knew that'd be rude. Well, to run, anyway. Not to leave; leaving was okay, especially since Ferris was okay with it. And so, she gave him a brief nod. "I'll be by the fountain," she told him, pecking his cheek gently before turning to Mr. Montgomery and giving him a small smile before getting to her feet and leaving the scene, soon disappearing into the crowd of tourists and native Italians wandering around the piazza.

Ferris gave a nod as Vianna told him she'd be by the fountain, giving a small smile as she placed a kiss on his cheek, before he turned back to his father and his smile fell just slightly.

After a good hour or so of talking, arguing, near-yelling, slamming down glasses and glares, Ferris rose from the table and made his way through the piazza, towards the fountain. It was there that he found Vianna standing there, waiting for him and he gave the weakest of smiles, tired annoyance on his pale face. "He's coming for dinner."

Much to Vianna's misfortune, it seemed that some of the people in the piazza that day read the local paper on a daily basis and unfortunately, this led to her receiving a number of curious looks from those familiar with the story of the two teenagers 'purposely jumping' into the fountain and 'putting up a spectacle' - according to the newspaper - only about a week ago. But then fortune joined her side as Ferris came to sight, and the brightest of smiles lit up her lightly tanned face. "Professor!" But before she could cheer over his return too long or question him on how everything had gone with his father, the boy announced that he'd be coming for dinner. Vianna blinked, her smile gone. "What?" It took her a second to really register the words. "Your father? To--tonight?" she asked, clear surprise taking over her features.

"Yes, yes, tonight," the boy said with a sigh, giving her a sympathetic smile before realizing that his father had just invited himself over to Vianna's home. "Oh! Unless that's not alright, he'd back off if it was you that didn't want him there," the boy quickly added, his eyebrows raising. He grinned very suddenly, "You totally don't have to let him come, I mean...He'll be fine. He just wants to see mum and all of that..." It was obvious that Ferris had been voting against his father's choice to come over that night.

Vianna had also seemed to come to this realization about Mr. Montgomery inviting himself over to dinner, which she couldn't help finding a little odd. It's not like her family was familiar with him, though she was sure her parents would be more than happy to start another feast over a new visitor, so that was the least of her problems. Her real concern was Ferris's view on this, and her eyebrows rose slightly with surprise as he began to scheme, assuring the girl that she didn't have to let his father come over for dinner. Vianna was quiet for a moment, considering the pros and cons of this situation. "I'm guessing this means things didn't end too well back there, then?" she assumed, her voice low and soft as her gaze turned a little more thoughtful.
