| | | Surviving Suburbia Everybody loves Hogwarts.
Students couldn’t be prouder of the beloved castle they get to call home for most part of the year, and those unfortunate enough not to receive an invitation, dream of racing the moving staircases and finding secret passageways behind talking portraits.
Enchanting as it may be, Hogwarts remains, above all: a school. Which means that Hogwarts students don’t necessarily spend all their time at the castle joking with nearly-headless ghosts, sneaking into forbidden forests, or enjoying a cup of hot chocolate by the fireplace. Like any other student at any other school, magical or otherwise, they have their fair share of responsibilities: homework to get done, tests to study for, grades to improve. Overall, Hogwarts students tend to be hard-working, smart individuals who surpass challenges set by each and every lesson, moving on to higher levels.
There are, however, those classes that are just IMPOSSIBLE for some to pass. And for some Hogwarts students the main culprit tends to be: Muggle. Studies.
These students can perform a perfect patronus, handle a crying mandrake, predict your untimely demise in a teacup, but they simply can NOT figure out the workings of a “TV remote” no matter how many times they press all the bloody buttons. It looks just like a tel-uh-phony, what is even the point of this thing!? GAHHH.
For these students, a special summer lesson has been put together by Professor Willoughby, Hogwarts’ one and only Muggle Studies master. These students failed all exams and either didn’t turn in their homework, or turned in something that made no more sense than a two-headed dog with chicken legs and fire breath. If these students don’t want to end up repeating the class next term (and I’m more than certain they don’t), they MUST pass the summer lesson, which, in consequence, will take up a good half of their summer break.
So, what is Professor Willoughby’s challenge?
Surviving one month in suburbia.
The worst Muggle Studies students in every House and every year must pack their belongings (without the help of magic) and move to a standard, uniformed suburban home in the middle of a friendly muggle neighbourhood in the outskirts of London. Doesn’t sound too bad, does it? Well, there’s a catch: the students must give up their wands to Professor Willoughby at the end of term, and they may only retrieve them after successfully completing all challenges set up by the professor. So, absolutely no magic can be performed during the entire month the students spend in this home, performing their daily tasks without the aid of their wands. They must learn to live life… the muggle way.
It’s not all so bad, though. The house is large and comfortable, there’s a pool in the backyard, they get a mini van to drive around, and there’s other youths in the neighbourhood. Just next door is a house occupied entirely by muggle university students, who our muggle-challenged witches and wizards must interact with without raising any suspicion to complete some of their tasks. If they’re nice enough, they could maybe even get the muggles to perform some of these tasks for them. …Long as they’re not caught by the Professor’s pet assistant. There will be one student, the best student, in fact, who is already familiar with all things muggle and will be in charge of making sure that all tasks are completed by his classmates. Should anyone be caught cheating, this student will be in charge of reporting them to Professor Willoughby, and they may permanently lose their wand in consequence.
To help the students stay on track and remember all the tasks they must complete, a chalkboard has been set up in the living room area of the home. Here, the professor’s assistant has listed all the tasks the students must complete, in the order they must be performed. Also, all students have been equipped with the muggle version of a wand - a cellphone. Each cellphone is activated with its own phone number and the students are free to use them as they please, the more they play around with the gadget and experience first-hand muggle technology, the better! But please do try to take it easy on the selfies.
And so, girls and boys… welcome to suburbia! Have fun and try not to get electrocuted by that tricky muggle invention - electricity!

Hello everyone!
So, since the general RP section of the site is pretty dead, The Amazing Ru (pinecone) and I have decided to start something new that will hopefully get more members involved in RPs outside of the school!
If you’re interested in joining, please just post a bio for your character(s) and we’ll add them to the list below!
You may RP students, muggles, or both. Ru and I will be taking care of the professor and his assistant (we may or may not have some surprises in store for you… ). You may also bring in any necessary extras if a certain scene asks for it, the more realistic we make this, the better! If you have any ideas of extra characters you’d like to add in besides the students and their muggle neighbors, tell us! Want to be a gardener that’s onto them? A thief that breaks into the house at night? A troublesome child that rings the bell and runs away!? ALL CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME. BE CREATIVE!
And for your reference, here is a shot of the board listing all the kids’ challenges. Below is a link to see a larger version. CLICK HERE FOR LARGER VERSION!
Please remember to follow all SS rules while RPing, and, most of all, don’t forget to have FUN!!!

"Oh." Allegra seemed to deflate with his words, her breathing still rather huffy as she attempted to gather what exactly she had planned to say to him. But that was just the problem - she didn't have a plan! She had intended on confronting him about the note and now... he didn't get it? So he was out, all day, blissfully continuing his life. "So you weren't in your room today," she deduced easily, clearly refraining from the logical next question, i.e. Where were you then? She scanned him absentmindedly, confused, reluctantly admiring the person before her as she attempted to regroup. It was then that seemed to notice something threatening to fall out of his pocket.
"What's that?" Allegra demanded softly, only waiting a fraction of a second before rushing to his side and attempting to grab it from his pocket without reservation.

“Ye…No, not really, I’ve been… around,” replied Adam almost immediately, rather guilty despite his determination to lie. But he’d rather Allegra believe he didn’t receive the note at all than find out he did and had simply chosen not to respond. His ears were still ringing from the volume of her voice just a minute ago. He didn’t even know it could go that high! “What’s that?”
Adam glanced down, confused at first as to what ‘that’ was - he followed her line of sight and, by the time he realized she was referring to the folded piece of parchment threatening to fall out of his pocket, a pale little hand was already reaching for it with amazing speed. Adam reacted quickly, reaching for the note just as Allegra’s determined fingers made contact with the parchment. “Nothing! It’s—” He pulled the note and, for the brief second that it lasted, the couple looked hilariously childish as they tugged at the folded note, Adam horrified that Allegra will find out it was her note, and Allegra determined to clear up the missing note mystery. But Allegra had acted quicker, and her grip on the note covered more territory than Adam’s, easily snatching it from the boy’s fingers just a moment later.
“No!” She couldn’t find out he had ignored the letter!!! Honestly, it was a stupid thing to get so stressed about, but in Adegra world an ignored note could be considered one of the cruelest insults. “C’mon, Moon, it’s—it’s just class notes—” Adam insisted hopelessly, swiftly reaching out for the note and snatching it away just as Allegra had managed to unfold it.

But it was far too late. Poor Adam wasn't able to grab it out of Allegra's hands before she was able to recognize the very familiar note in very familiar handwriting. "You LIED!" Allegra accused, her eyes widening as she took several steps back from him. Hurt flashed across her silver eyes, a wave of understanding overcoming her as she realized he had not only seen the note but actively chosen not to respond to it. The look would've probably really stung, too, if she wasn't also childishly pointing a finger at him as though this were some playground fight. "I can't believe you!"
And here she was, thinking she was out of her mind and he was so busy he simply didn't see it and the whole time he was harboring it in his pocket! Stubbornly, she reached to grab it from him, somehow deciding it was no longer his to keep. "That's mine, I want it back!"

Adam cringed with Allegra’s accusation, his gaze dropping to the dewy grass for a second before returning to her. “I didn’t lie—alright, yeah, I did, but—I was going to write back, I swear!” he insisted, desperate for the girl to believe him despite knowing perfectly well this was no longer a possibility. She’d already seen the note, connected the dots.
It was then that she reached for the note, and Adam’s brow furrowed. “What, this?” It was an honest question but it came off sounding more condescending than genuine. He just couldn’t figure out why she’d want the note back, it’s not like it changed anything. And yet, despite that, he suddenly felt under the obligation to keep the note, to protect it from her little hands as if it was some valuable possession. “Actually, if you look here…” He raised the note in the air, out of her reach, and pointed to a specific word, “It says ‘Adam’, so the note’s mine, not yours.” He raised his eyebrows slightly, as if he had just dropped some huge mind-blowing fact on her, before beginning to fold the note and return it to its home. His pocket.

"I know it says Adam because I wrote Adam on it, because it is mine!" Allegra protested, the irritation clearly flooding her features as he displayed the note out of her reach. It was rather stupid, but it felt good to let some of this frustration out even if it was just bickering about a note - at least they were talking to each other. Still, Allegra didn't even register this relief consciously, she was too focused on winning the note back. "Actually," she started, mocking his earlier patronizing tone, "I wrote it, meaning it was mine first, and I gave it to you assuming I'd receive a response. However, when you rejected my note, you gave up all rights to its ownership!" She spoke very matter of factly, as though they'd signed a contract stating these very things and he'd merely forgotten.
Without even thinking, she lunged for the note as he started to put it back in his pocket, offense clear on her expression. Anyone watching would have found it laughable as the tiny Ravenclaw practically tackled her boyfriend, jumping on top of him in the attempt to snag the note from his reach.

“I didn’t ‘reject’ the note, I just put it on hold unt—” Adam started, stopping abruptly as Allegra suddenly tackled him, knocking the boy clumsily backwards and onto the ground. Still, the note remained tightly wrapped in his hand. “It’s my note now, Allegra!” he snapped, genuinely unaware of how childish and immature he sounded. But it was his note! Even if the whole argument was pointless, the fact remained: the note was his. The second she had it delivered to his bedside table, it was his note, not hers.
Ironically, this silly argument had taken so much of the boy’s focus that he’d actually forgotten all about Gabe and kisses by the lake and trust issues.

There was a truly amusing scuffle on the ground as Allegra and Adam fought for a least a minute in pure annoyance. No one was actually harmed but there was a significant amount of tackling and pushing and threats of biting (almost entirely on the part of Allegra). Finally, when Allegra thought she had officially won, she went to make her escape with the note in hand just as she heard it. Riiiiiip. She turned - out of breath, hair in her face - and locked eyes with Adam. She was angry. She wasn't even sure why, exactly, but she was. And now her clothes had dirt all over them and her hair was a mess and worst of all - her note was destroyed. Not that that truly mattered anyway, but she clung to the topic as though that was the real issue at hand.
She dropped her half of the note on the ground. "Fine, you won. It's yours," Allegra decided stubbornly, getting to her feet with a disgruntled sigh. "I don't know why you'd want it anyway. Clearly you don't care." He didn't respond to the note, so obviously it didn't matter to him.

Adam watched with horror as the note ripped perfectly in half before meeting Allegra’s eyes, his expression not angry but wide-eyed and shocked, as if they’d just committed some horrible, unforgivable crime. The shock wore off quickly as she discarded her half of the letter and got to her feet. Stubbornly, Adam picked up the second piece and stuffed it away in his pocket as he stood.
“I do care,” he contradicted, offended. It took him a second to realize Allegra wasn’t accusing him of not caring for the well-being of their beloved note but rather something else. “I told you, I was going to answer. If you would’ve just waited another minute instead of attacking me, I would’ve been able to write back,” Adam half-lied. He was going to eventually write back. He just didn’t know when, but his explanation made it sound as if he’d been in the middle of writing a reply when Allegra walked in on him.

Allegra spun on her heel at the accusation, her eyebrows raising. "Oh, I'm sorry Adam, I guess eight hours isn't enough time for you - my mistake!" She didn't quite know where all of this was coming from but it poured out easily as she crossed her arms protectively over her chest, suddenly freezing in the cool night air. "You weren't going to respond, so just forget it, alright? I revoke my note."

Adam looked away, a hint of annoyance on his features as he registered Allegra’s accusation. “Alright, fine. Yeah. I wasn’t going to respond,” he suddenly admitted, irritated. It wasn’t an entirely true statement but it wasn’t a lie either. They had no way of knowing now. “What difference does it make? You still—I don’t know, you would’ve still been upset even if I did, so it doesn’t matter.”

Allegra merely nodded as Adam admitted openly that he wasn't intending on responding to her note. She disguised her hurt by staring at the ground, shuffling her feet almost impatiently, ready to go. Then she heard his next words. "Upset?" She locked eyes with him, a barely audible laugh of disbelief escaping her lips. "I'm not the one --" She sighed. "You're the one who -- !" She shook her head, frustrated beyond words - literally. "You're the one who left last night, alright? Not me." He was clearly the one upset, obviously the little Ravenclaw now red in the face wasn't upset at all.

Adam’s annoyed expression morphed into one of disbelief in an almost theatrical manner. “You barged in here yelling so loudly I think the entire castle heard you!” he replied, flabbergasted that the girl could forget her grand entrance so quickly.

Allegra's expression morphed into a stubborn pout as he threw undeniable truth back at her. "Well clearly you don't listen to notes, so I had to try and be a little LOUDER!" she replied with all the denial in the world on her features. "I did not barge!" she grumbled as she tucked hair behind her ear. "Excuse me if I wasn't in the best mood after searching the castle for you all day!"

Adam, his expression set on stubborn disapproval, was quiet for a moment. Well. He couldn’t quite be offended about his girlfriend apparently searching the castle for him for who knows how long. Actually, he was flattered by her efforts. But he wouldn’t admit it. Not now. He had to win whatever stupid argument they were having at the moment. “Yeah well, I had things to figure out first,” he said, unapologetic. Yet, despite his stubborn determination to remain distant, there was a pathetic longing behind the boy’s blue-eyed gaze. She looked so cold! And annoyingly adorable with her expression set on a cute, angry pout like that!
Adam looked away, determined not to fall for the trap of Allegra Reynolds’ magnetic presence.

Allegra, too, was finding it difficult to ignore the temptation of the person across from her. There was some kind of supreme relief in just seeing Adam again, in hearing his voice. She had been searching for him all day, after all. Still, she refused to consider this temptation seriously, her focus still sharp on what he had to say. Things to figure out? "What things?" she demanded before thinking better of it. She knew what he was thinking about. Suddenly she seemed aware that she had crossed a line, no longer discussing notes but something else entirely. "Actually, forget it, clearly you don't want to talk to me about it."
She couldn't help it. She'd never spoken like this to him, and she didn't intend on being particularly rude but it just came out that way, some kind of supreme defense mechanism she couldn't even control. She took a step back as though to leave.

Adam returned his gaze to the girl just as she was about to leave. It was as if someone had turned over a bucket of ice-cold water over his head, a small panic beginning to grow just with the idea of Allegra leaving already. “Wait.” He reached out, taking one of her hands. “I do want to talk about it.” No he didn’t. But lying to Allegra seemed to be the theme of the night. It was all he felt he could do to keep the girl around a little longer.
Adam paused for a long moment, evaluating her and unsure where to begin. He didn’t want to keep arguing, but he didn’t want her to leave either. “I suppose I just—I mean, why didn’t you come back when Corie did? Why did you stay alone with him?” he asked, blurting out the questions before he could even think about it. Her possible answer, unlikely as it was, genuinely terrified him - well, duh, Adam! Because I like him way better than you, silly! He hated how infantile his fears were, how badly they made him look in the eyes of the only person whose opinion mattered. But if she wanted to talk, he’d talk. Though he’d much rather be in the cottage eating food delivered by the elves and building blanket forts.

The funny thing of all of this was that Allegra didn't particularly want to talk either. In fact, it was the last thing she wanted to do. But she had to see him, find him, talk to him in some way and so she did. Now here she was, bluffing that she had some great maturity and wanted to talk about the situation when in fact she just wanted to return to his side for any reason at all. As he caught her hand she turned without hesitation, the slightest look of surprise behind her gaze as he asked... a direct question. She almost seemed a little startled that they were talking about this, as though she never actually believed they'd get around to it.
Allegra had to refrain from being sharp with him, some of the earlier aggressive energy still increasing her heart rate and clouding her mind with pride. She felt almost offended by the question 'Why did you stay alone with him?', as though her choice to merely stay behind with a friend was some kind of blatant invitation for him then to make a move. This was her first response, but she tried to silence her more irrational reactions, knowing that Adam didn't mean to upset her. Maybe.
"He was distressed," Allegra defended, her voice still more assertive than necessary. "He was... I don't know, really unhappy. About the game, and the end of the year and he was just not himself." The wind kicked up her hair and she used her free hand to brush it aside, her left still resting in Adam's own hand oddly enough. The body language was rather funny - both of them clearly uncomfortable, ready to go, ready to run, and their hands still intwined between them all the while. "Corie had to go back to the party, and I was going to go too, but she suggested he talk to me since he wasn't talking to her, and she left and then I stayed and... he talked to me."
She really didn't want to talk about this. "Anything else you need to know to trust me?" she retorted, her tone still sharp but somehow a little less direct as she glanced around the grounds now immersed in darkness.

Adam listened quietly, eagerly absorbing every word Allegra shared, waiting for some big revelation. And though her response was perfectly reasonable and realistic, he didn’t feel much better. He shot the little Ravenclaw a look as she ended the explanation with sarcasm.
He didn’t say anything for a moment, stubbornly holding on to Allegra’s hand while at the same time pride warned him to let go, that his body language wasn’t matching his words. “No. Maybe. I don’t know,” he replied, annoyed. Not with the girl, but with himself. It wasn’t fair that the only solution to the problem was the one thing he didn’t want to do: trust. But he’d trusted her before, and look what happened! He was being unfair, unforgiving, he knew, and yet it was so difficult to move past it.
He really, really, REALLY did not want to talk about this. Not now. Perhaps not ever. The more rational and unusually mature side of him knew this was a step in the right direction, that communication and honesty were supposed to be important things in a relationship. But the better part of him, the more childish part, simply didn’t want to deal with it.
“I suppose I’ll just have to trust you not to snog your best friend or disappear on me again,” the Slytherin decided bitterly, the words harsher than he had intended. He wasn’t sure what he intended. Here he was, stubbornly holding the girl by the hand but basically pushing her away with his words. “That’s fair, right? I just gotta sit back and trust, keep my fingers crossed that nothing bad will happen again, right?”

Allegra's hand dropped from his own unceremoniously, her silver eyes fiery as she glared at him in disbelief. So this was how he felt. Ever the chameleon, she tried her best to remain cool and unaffected but hearing those words from Adam of all people was enough to crack her facade. She shook her head, doing her best to hide the clear hurt that had fallen like a weight onto her chest, her defensiveness coming out in a desperate attempt to keep going when all she wanted was to crawl into bed and hide.
"So that's it then," Allegra questioned with raised eyebrows, blinking back the angry tears that were threatening to make an appearance with each word. "I make one mistake, and from now on you can't trust me with anything, is that it?" She had disappeared and she regretted it, she had enough guilt about the situation to last her a lifetime and now it seemed Adam was never going to truly get over it. She had always feared he was still upset, and here it was.
"So all those conversations about forgiving me, that was nothing, right?" Back at the cottage, he made them talk about these things, she opened up about how vulnerable and awful she still felt over the whole thing and he had reassured her. Clearly none of it was real.
"I guess I was right then, huh? I just don't deserve you after all," she mocked, her words coming how more harshly than she intended. "Because perfect Adam has never screwed up, not once, right? He's never had a go with anyone he shouldn't in a closet --" Jane. "-- or Honeyduke's, right?" Jackie.
She hated that she was saying all of this, hated that it was so easy for her to let out all of this anger but here it was. Unwelcome and not very pretty. But she couldn't help it, she felt attacked. "So when I get kissed by a guy without invitation, it's because I'm having some kind of secret, romantic affair but when you date Jackie for the better part of a month it's just a logical reaction to our break up. Right?"

Adam’s gaze dropped to their separating hands for the briefest half of a second, looking as if Allegra had just slapped him across the face, before looking up again, his expression once again unwelcoming. "I make one mistake, and from now on you can't trust me with anything, is that it?”
“It wasn’t just—” he stopped abruptly as she continued, bringing up their past conversations and his own mistakes. His jaw dropped, looking rather comical in his disbelief though the offense was genuine. “I wasn’t going out with you when either of those happened!” How could she compare the Jackie or Jane incidents to her fling—alright, kiss, whatever—with Gabe?! They were obviously completely different cases (or so he strongly believed).
Allegra’s last words stung. He wouldn’t be admitting it any time soon, but the little Ravenclaw made a fair point. He still remembered vividly the hurt in Allegra’s eyes that afternoon in Honeyduke’s, the guilt that consumed him for the rest of the day. He remembered trying to put himself in her shoes afterward, after they got back together and discussed his pretend-relationship with Jackie for the first time. He remembered imagining an alternate and, in his opinion, much more horrifying scenario - what if he’d broken up with Allegra but seen her snogging some unbearable pretty boy just a couple weeks later? He hadn’t been able to imagine it for too long, the thought was too cruel.
And yet, despite this understanding, the boy remained determined. Instead of stopping, accepting that Allegra made a fair point, he only felt more irritated, more annoyed with the one person to ever inspire kindness and sympathy out of him. “Yeah. It is, actually,” he replied stubbornly, perfectly aware that he was only making things worse and yet making no effort to stop. “Because you’re kissing that idiot while we’re still together. I hadn’t seen you for weeks when Jackie happened, it’s hardly the same thing, Allegra.”

Allegra seemed to get more and more frustrated as this game of who-did-what-when continued, letting out a legitimate growl/sigh of aggression as he mentioned her kissing Gabe while they were still together. "I DIDN'T KISS GABE!" she roared, even surprising herself as her hands balled up into fists. "He kissed me!" Now it was her fault that she was surprised by a friend suddenly getting too friendly? "I told you want happened, do you really need more explanation?" She knew she should stop talking but she couldn't bring herself to, her light eyes alight with some newly found anger.
"I was sitting next to him, just talking! I didn't do anything," she corrected him. "And apparently he took my talking to him as some kind of open invitation to throw himself on me, and he did, okay?" Allegra was visibly upset, just thinking about the moment made her feel sick. But it was awful, having a good friend try something like that. Gabe didn't attack her or anything, it was a simple misunderstanding, but it was still completely violating to have a friend think it might be okay to suddenly kiss her like that. Beyond that, it was insulting that Gabe would think, even for a second, she could be so disloyal to Adam as to want to return such an advance. Then again, it seemed Adam thought the same thing, and that was the truly upsetting part of all this.
"It was a complete surprise, out of nowhere," Allegra explained, sure Adam was already assuming some rose petals were involved or some dramatic music - whatever image was in his mind that made him think, even for a moment, that she was in any way interested in kissing Gabe.
"I was trying to talk to him, and instead he put his hand on my face, pulled me in, and kissed me. Is that what you want to hear? The details?" She sniffled, the evening air seeming to get to her as she paced ever so slightly in place. Clearly this was incredibly uncomfortable for her. "I hated it. I pushed him off and..." He knew the rest. She glanced up, finally locking eyes with him reluctantly. "I wanted you."

Adam was quiet, his expression softening to one of mild surprise as Allegra, now struggling with a level of frustration that he’d never seen her in before, explained all the events of the night before in detail. He hated hearing it from her, even if it was what he’d been pushing for all along, even if her story was a thousand times less incriminating than the conclusions he’d jumped to. It was ridiculous at this point, after all the fighting and the note and Allegra’s obvious efforts to set everything right, to continue believing the movie in his mind. He believed her. He still didn’t trust her completely - that was a separate issue with much deeper roots - but he believed her. And yet there was no relief to the feeling. They were still in a weird position, experiencing feelings they’d never felt for each other before - anger, annoyance, frustration.
“Alright.” He said it simply, as if they’d only been arguing about what to have for dinner and he’d finally given into Allegra’s decision for pasta instead of fish. The word was followed by an awkward pause, one in which Adam realized what he was supposed to do next. Apologize. The poor girl had just wasted an entire day trying to find him, to make things right, but all her boyfriend could think to say was ‘alright’.

Allegra hated this. She hated feeling vulnerable, spilling her guts and feelings out for someone without any clue as to what they might say or do in response. And now, here she was, recounting one of the worst evenings of her life once again in an attempt to earn some trust back from the one person she never thought she'd have to convince. And then, quite suddenly, without warning, he said the most annoying thing possible: "Alright."
Allegra blinked, the emotion fleeing from her expression and leaving only blank confusion behind. 'Alright'!? She'd spent the entire day searching for him, finally making an incredible defense for herself and all he had to say was...
"Alright?" she repeated, clearly exhausted by this back and forth that was obviously getting them nowhere. After a moment of pure disbelief, Allegra sighed and let out a dark laugh at the same time. This was unbelievable. She began to pace out of pure frustration, almost looking as though she was preparing to leave but couldn't manage it, like there was some kind of invisible barrier keeping her within his proximity.
"Do you want me to go?" She turned to him suddenly. Because that's what it felt like. One word answers. Not looking her in the eye. She'd spent all day looking for him, assuming they both needed to just talk it out but clearly they weren't getting anywhere. Perhaps now he was trying to tell her in a not so subtle way that he didn't wish to be found, that her search for him was unwarranted and intrusive. Which was just fine. If she wasn't wanted, she didn't need to stay.

“Of course not,” Adam replied, giving the question no thought. He wanted the fighting to stop, the negative feelings to go away, but he didn’t want her to go. However, at the same time, he didn’t feel the usual urge to reach out and break the distance between them. Perhaps because there was still so much negativity between them.
The boy was silent for a long moment afterward, his gaze distractedly shifting in the direction of the castle. Suddenly he felt tired, tempted to pull another ‘we’ll talk tomorrow’ just to avoid talking now. But, unless he purposely wished to ruin things beyond repair with Allegra, that was obviously not an option.
“It’s not that I want you to go, it’s—look, I’m sorry I didn’t believe you, alright?” the apology struggled awkwardly from his lips, unhappy but not insincere. “Can we just stop fighting for a minute?”

Allegra didn't seem too thrilled with the strained apology that escaped Adam's lips, annoyed that she was suddenly feeling guilty for cornering him like this. She didn't want to force an apology out of him, and she certainly didn't feel like taking on any more guilt tonight or ever. Still, she stayed silent as he continued, her large eyes scanning the familiar person across from her as he requested a time out. She evaluated him warily, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Fine."
She didn't want to be fighting any more than he did! Sure, she sought him out earlier and perhaps she was a little angrier than necessary, but she assumed the confrontation would solve things. Instead, it was only leading them further down into issues she hadn't anticipated. She watched him for some sign of the protocol in this situation. He didn't want her to go, and she didn't want to leave but what was there to say or do? They were in a fight, so what was there to say without continuing on with it?
"What now?" It was more of an observation than a legitimate question, so quiet it was almost as though she thought whispering was the only way to keep the fight on hold.
