Beryl's frown disappeared and her expression went relatively blank as Frenchie told her she didn't have any idea of the effect she had on people. Then she frowned again as he did admit something was wrong but wouldn't tell her. So she started putting two and two together. "Wait, wait, wait, let me get this straight - you're telling me that you're mad because I was standing with Jeffery and you like me?" she asked, her voice incredulous as well as somewhat quiet so that no one else would here. But then she got more than the answer of 'four' when she realized he had used the plural 'people'. "Hold on, do you think Jeffery like's me??" What in the world was going on?! They were all half-dead for crying out loud!

The man takes both pieces of Charlotte's wand and frowns at them, looking quite disappointed. He also takes the pocket knife from Jeffrey, frowning more still. "Neither of these are complete wands," he says. "Although the pocket knife is clever," he says, studying it. "And mostly intact. Not as I'd hoped, but perhaps it will function properly if..."

Holding Jeffrey's pocket knife in one hand, the man taps the broken pieces of Charlotte's wand and then mend almost instantly. Still, he's frowning at them. "Mending wands is tricky," the man says. "It's likely to break after the first spell it performs. I'll have some preparing to do..."

He thinks for a few minutes before he finally pulls out his notebook again and flips to the back page. "Now, I've had a lot more time to regain my memories than the lot of you have," he says, searching for something on a long list. "Plus I managed to find the Glass a couple of decades ago, which has been helpful. So I'll tell you what you must do when you get back to your plane."

He stops at a name on his list and he shows it to all of you. "This man, Artemis Braker, can be found in Hogsmeade at the Hog's Head most evenings. He's the grandson of an old friend of mine. He can equip you with new wands and new identities and give you lives away from the Ministry. You're to hide. Lay low. D'you understand?"

Laryn nodded, even me? she asked, she couldn't bear to think about all that work and degrees coming to nothing, but if it kept her alive...

Beryl glanced over at the man for a few moments as he spoke, though she wasn't letting Frenchie slip by without answering her questions. She did, however, have to satisfy her curiosity and try and get things straight. "Yes, but how are we getting back in the first place?" she asked with her eyebrows raising slightly, though her tone was polite.

Gryffindorgurl 08-27-2010 05:58 PM

Jeffery nodded quickly, watching as his pocket knife mended Charlotte's broken wand. He was surprised for a second, but it was gone in a flash. He glanced over at Felix and Beryl. It was obvious what he wanted, and he'd let him have it. Felix got there first. He wouldn't interfere.

Lindzers 08-27-2010 06:07 PM

He's giving him a knife? Sydney raised an eyebrow. No... they're both giving him... wands?

"That's a smart thing to do." she muttered, not to anyone in particular. Yes, why didn't they all give the stranger all the things they had to protect themselves! Sydney couldn't understand why everyone was being so trusting of the guy when they didn't even know his name...

The whole ordeal was extremely frustrating. She would much rather be in the man's shoes knowing what was going on than standing in her own, confused, scared, and dependent. She hated it.

And she never was good at keeping her mouth shut. "I don't get it!" the girl finally cried out as he started telling them all these things that needed to do once they got back to their "plane". "What is our plane?" she asked, doing all she could to stop herself from shouting. She looked over at the girl who she thought was mean from earlier, nodding. "Yeah! Yeah, what she said! How is all this supposed to happen when we're... when we are... dead?" Sydney asked, both eyebrows raised. He was talking about the world with the ministry that had killed them. How were they supposed to get there if they had been thrown through to their deaths through the curtain thing?

iBeJenn 08-27-2010 06:17 PM

The wand... that stick... it was mended? How was that possible at all? It couldn't be! "How do we know that we can trust you?" Charlotte asked. This could all be a trick. He could've replaced the stupid twig somehow! This made no sense at all. And if they were dead they couldn't go back there alive!! But... "Who are you, really? We know our names and you seem to know us so well... how do you not know who you are?" Charlotte asked suspiciously. He could be an ex-convict or something. He could be one of those people who killed them and they'd never know. Charlotte tried to remember something, anything, about the veil thingy but like everything else, it blanked on her.

She couldn't help but notice the oddness of the room, though. It was unsettling in itself; the endless valley of blue sky stretching out as far as she could see. It was terrifying not to see a floor underneath her feet and yet it was beautiful, in it's own right.

The first thing her eyes were drawn to, of course, was the glowing globe across the room. She was there long enough to deduce what he was doing with it and she wasn't so sure she wanted to be a part of it. Sydney was curious, though. How could she not be?

"I dunno." she replied slowly, when June spoke. Sydney didn't trust someone easily... and she still didn't trust that man or most of the people in the room. If she trusted one person, at the moment, it was June and that was based purely on the fact that they were sisters and supposed to be able to trust each other. "What do you think? Should we ask him to show us how we died?" she asked her quietly, her eyes still trained on the mystery man, as she listened to him speak.

OOC:: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Jeffery already had the knife, earlier in the RP.

June gulped, feeling the perspiration on her forehead. "I..." She began, failing with words. She turned to take a hard look at Sydney, then a hard look at the man near the globe. She decided to take a leap of faith. It was either do that or stay in the dark for eternity. "We should. No," She swallowed hard, her eyes set as she felt determination rising in her spirit, "We will." But first, it seemed as if the man was dealing with others. Her twin's fighting spirit might have rubbed off on June, but she still was the tentatively polite girl that she had always been. The people up there wouldn't want the twins spyng in on their own deaths, just as the twins wouldn't want the same.

Conversation continued to float about as the twins stood idly. June knew that Sydney was growing rather impatient, but so be it. She jumped, releasing her sister's hand as she cried out. She had a point, but June was already scared to death and didn't need her sister's barking to increase her discomfort. However, she nodded quickly and sharply in agreement. "Exactly," She mumbled, glancing at the girl who Sydney had agreed with before her gaze fell to her feet.

Sylvestre looked at her, and sighed “Not mad just a little bit jealous,” he said as he ran a hand through his hair, he looked at Jeffery and then back and Logic and shrugged, “I have no idea if he likes you.” He looked at the man who was talking, he frowned, “So we can escape then?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, as he put his hands in his pocket, his mind was going crazy one thing after another. The man looked familiar but why he didn’t know.

Beryl shut her eyes in frustration and turned away from him. How had this happened? She didn't know what was going on. "Well, I will. I'm getting facts straight," she muttered back to Felix before walking back over to Jeffery. "Well, I got his side of the story, so what's yours?" she asked, trying not to make it sound harsh. But gosh she needed to know! When had any of this even happened?

Jeffery got a confused look on his face. "My side of the story on what?" He honestly had no idea what she was talking about. "Does it have something to do with Frenchie?" He scratched the back of his neck. What was she asking him?

Ughhh. There was no way Beryl was going to ask him outright if he liked her! I mean, it was easy with Frenchie, but with Jeffery it was just... noooo. She would sound much too conceited. "On me," she said more quietly when he basically asked for specificity. "Because for some reason he's jealous of you because of me, and I don't even know if there's reason for him to be or not," she explained in an undertone, though she wasn't hiding emphasis from her words for lack of volume.

Sylvestre watched with a bemused expression as Jeffery did not understand Logic's question, he turned away from them so they wouldn't noticed the amused smile he was failing at hiding. He turned around and looked at them, "I was not that jealous," he said at the same volume, "I was just a wee bit jealous." Maybe more then a wee bit he thought, but she certainly does not need to know that.

The boy seemed a little uneasy, not too sure he wanted to know all this information, though at the same time he couldn't help but be curious. He stood still beside Lisette for a moment before turning to the girl. "Do you wanna... see?" he asked, tilting his head just very slightly to gesture toward the floating sphere everyone had sort of gathered around. He was a little nervous and couldn't help but wonder if Lisette felt the same way; he kind of hoped she was as curious as he was, though, and he wouldn't have to go up there alone.

Lisette nodded and turned around to look at him. She bit her lip and nodded. 'Yes.. and no. I want to see it.. because I want to know.. what happened.." she said to him, grabbing his hand and giving it a squeeze. She walked over to the sphere, watching and listening to the man.

Lisette nodded slowly. Hogsmeade? The Hog's Head?, she thought. The name was so familiar. She remembered where that was.. it was the little village covered in snow. She nodded at what he said. "Artemis Baker." she said. "Yes. I agree with her.. Beryl.. How are WE getting back? Why do we have to hide from the Ministry.. I thought.. that they were on our side?" She wanted him to answer more questions.

August watched the man mending Jeffery's pocket knife and Charlotte's broken wand..Then he heard the man said a name Artemis Braker? and a place Hogsmeade? Hog's Head? Where is that place anyway? "You said that we have to lay low..Why we've to lay low? and isn't the Ministry can track us if we used magic?" he asked the man.."Beryl right how do we get out of here?"

He shakes his head, amused, as though he'd had many years to come to terms with this already. "I had hoped," he says, "that by catching so many of you, that one of you might have a wand?"

OOC: Two have you have wands. One is broken. One is a pocket knife. ;)

"Oh! I'm sorry about that!" Seth said, feeling sorry for the man who seemed to have to stay here for another ten decades or so. "Isn't there any way that we can help you in?" He asked him out of sympathy. Living here must be horrible for the man, how could he spend all this time alone, with nothing whatsoever for company except that manic globe.

"But how can we go back if we don't remember who we are?" Seth asked him, eyeing the wands in his hands. Finding wands was a very good thing indeed, that would help them in what they're doing! He hesitated then, wondering whether he ought to find out his own death, he didn't want to at all but if it would help him regain his memory then he's up for it. Up for anything.

Awesome. So everyone could figure that out - duh so could she eventually! That wasn't the point of talking to Jeffery! Beryl shook her head, not only disapproving of what he said but also because she didn't want to have his charming looks affect her. "You're evading the question. Fine. It's whatever, then," she said before turning away from him but not towards Frenchie either. She started moving away from both of them.

Reincarnation Jones 08-30-2010 01:28 PM

OOC: Sorry, guys! *sniff* It's to hard for me to post on the weekends.

Before the man is able to answer any questions, the Glass lights up on its own, without his prompting it. It shows Tristan and Lisette being marched up the side of the dais in the same way that it showed Charlotte before. Tristan looks utterly defeated--even exhausted--but Lisette is struggling valiantly with the Aurors holding her.

"Fight! she shouts at Tristan. "Together, we can--"

"Together?" Tristan finally roars, wrenching around to look at her. "Together, we will die. And you know whose fault that is, Lisette. If you ever even told me your real name, you thieving trash!"

The scene bubbles and flickers away as the Aurors toss the two of them through the veil.

After this finished, the man, looking completely unembarrassed, says, "Decades of being here, I've regained a lot of memories." He looks almost longingly at the wand before frowning slightly. "In any case, I can get you out. And I suppose I'll just drift here... or perhaps move on to whatever's next." He shudders slightly at this thought.

"It may be fortunate that you don't know who you are," he says, though it's not clear whether he's just thinking out loud or talking to you. "It should help you embrace your new identities more easily."

He looks at you all seriously now, and says, "Something must be done about the Ministry. Until you relearn your magic and learn to live like the witches and wizards you are, you can't go against them. You won't even have a hope." He pauses here and the silence of the room suddenly strikes you. "So grow up!" he booms. "Live your lives. Keep your noses clean. Come back together in ten years time. Gather allies against the corruption of the Ministry and fight! Fight them!"

He smiles a little dreamily as though he's just remembered something and says, "Times like these bring out the best in some people and the worse in others."

He snaps to and asks, "Am I clear?"

Lisette took a step away from Tristan after she saw what happened to them. Oh yeah now she remembered Tristan had given up way to easily.. And she fought. The words that came out of the mouth of the Tristan in the memory made Tristan seem harsher. What had she done? She looked down embarrassed and ashamed.

She stayed silent as she took mental notes in her head. Must fit in. She nodded when the man told them to grow up.. But exactly how old were they? Lisette didn't know the exact
age she was. She sighed and nodded at what the man said. New identies... Would be nice.

Laryn nodded, yes, yes I guess...she trailed off, she couldn't remember any magic but, if she was alive...

Aiden had just been listening. But things were starting to freak him out, as much as he would like to go back and live with a new identity, it just seemed weird. But when the man started booming and yelling, it freaked him out a bit. He nodded his head wildly at the last question "am I clear?".

Beryl looked away as another scene flashed before them. When it was finished, she looked back at the man wearily. All she wanted was to get out of here. Get back to whatever life she'd been living - even if it meant doing it under a new identity. She didn't answer his question and instead looked away again. She was already grown. She could do whatever she wanted and all she wanted to do was get out of this place. If he didn't get that already, then he wasn't worth the trouble.

Sylvestre looked at the man, his face set with a frown, "So you are saying that when we go back we can not go find our families," he said with a sigh, he looks at the man, processing everything a small smile crosses his face, "When can we go?"
