Danton held the handle of his wand between his teeth in deep concentration as he stared at the color of his potion. It had to be perfect before he could add the final ingredient unless he wanted to start the seven-month-long process all over again. Squinting at it thoughtfully, he nodded, removed his wand from his mouth and gently placed a single beetle's eye in the exact center of the cauldron, whispering dead words as he waved his wand over the concoction.
Almost instantaneously, the air above the cauldron began to crackle, smelling like burnt atmosphere. A dark spot seemed to appear in Danton's vision. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his sleeve, but it remained, becoming larger. When it was the size of a snitch, the young wizard realized that it wasn't a black spot in his vision but a black spot in the world. An empty space, as black as death, grew and stretched before him. He smiled to himself and let loose a call of triumph that echoed through the empty basement laboratory. It had worked! The portal was opening!
When the portal was the size of a small doorway, Danton stuck his wand in his back pocket and climbed through.
_____________
This story started out as a fanfiction, but I never did have the inspiration to finish it. It is, however, one of my better story concepts, if I say so myself.
One November 22, 2106, Danton Latimer Gethin disappeared from his basement through a portal. What was on the other side of that portal remains uncertain, but the young boy was different when he returned. With darkness in his eyes and his soul, he set about a series of events that would throw the world into a chaos that hadn’t been seen since the time of Lord Voldemort.
Now, as I’m sick of my RPs failing and being abandoned, I’m going to take a different approach to this one. I’m not going to play any of the characters. I’m going to RP as the plot line. (For anyone who LARPs like I do or plays DnD, I’ll be more of a Storyteller or a Dungeon Master.)
As a result of this decision, all of the available characters are good guys. I will play all of the characters that are evil. I think this will help keep the RP alive because it means that all of the players are working toward the same goal as opposed to against each other. So, if a couple of people quit, we won’t have four good guys against one evil one. And it also means there’s a LOT more people for everyone to interact with.
Also, some of the plot may be delivered to characters via PM. Not to everyone, and not all the time, but there will occasionally be things that characters may or may not want to share with their friends.
Now, this is a future RP, so we are playing with several descendants of the original canon characters. I’ve made family trees to use for this RP. They are here (The Potter/Weasley one is HUGE).
SPOILER!!: Family Trees: This WILL make your screen scroll
Fiona and Blaire are twins, as are Gemini and Genisis.
And, of course, there is plenty of room for made-ups. Especially if there is to be a romantic relationship, since the main characters are almost all related (though some distantly).
Hello there, your thread has qualified into our forum and you can now begin RP'ing as soon as you get some players. We would like to remind you of a few links which are here for your reference:

She wasn't to worked up any more mainly because she had completely emptied her mind and she was trying her hardest to keep bad thoughts out. She walked into the common room and warmth greeted her like an old friend. but then she saw it, the notice while all of the students will be returning tomorrow, classes will not begin again for another two weeks due to funeral arrangements. no, not a funeral, the thoughts rushed into her head she headed quickly to a chair facing a window and flopped into it, pulling her knees up to her chin and hugging her legs she bawled her eyes out ... again.

Leaning forward over the table, Dal looked at the picture that Monday was looking at. He eyed it for a while before sitting back down in his seat, not sure what to say. "Somethings missing from Hogwarts..." he said slowly, thinking about Monday's dream once again, "But Hogwarts doesn't want you to know?" Well that was weird.
He sighed, looking down at the book in front of him again. It looked sort of interesting - was it a...journal? He dropped a hand on top of it, feeling the cover. Curious, he flicked at the pages, feeling a slight puff of air on his hand as each page fell. "Hey, do you know who's this is?" he asked suddenly, looking up at Monday.
"It's mine!" says a young man next to you who seems to have appeared out of nowhere. What's odd is not his sudden appearance, however, but the way he's dressed. He's wearing a red-and-gold pinstriped three piece suit with polished, black dress shoes. His hair is cut in a way that makes him look really antique.
SPOILER!!: Portrait
He's obviously a Weasley, just like the name on the inside of the cover states: Frederick Fabian Weasley. Fred, similar to the Weasley children, has flaming-red hair and freckles. He's kind of short and stocky, but the suit has an obvious slimming effect and makes him look like a businessman who might have gone a bit off somewhere in his life.
"Fred Weasley," he introduces himself. "Of the Wizard Wheezes Weasleys. I'd offer to shake your hand, but I can't touch you," he says smartly, demonstrating by putting his hand through the table.
It's worth noting that Hogwarts only has a few ghosts left. Just the House ones. But... this guy is in full color, unlike a ghost.
Additionally: Elodie, just for torture's sake, you realize, "No... not a funeral. Fifty-seven of them."

Dallin openly stared at the newcomer, who'd randomly just popped out of no where. He listened, one eyebrow raised questioningly, as the guy spoke. Huh. A Weasley? Fred Weasley. Dal's eyes flickered to Monday, and nodded toward the family history book. Who was Fred?
"Uh, sorry, not to sound rude or anything, but why are you here?" he asked, looking back at Fred. The guy looked old. Not old-aged, but old-timed. Like he'd been born a long time ago, and was still stuck in that era, or whatever.
Muse of Xevis > | < Defender of Trearlonis > | < Elder of Gostrenac > | < Daughter of Eshoza
"I'm a sliver of a memory linked to that journal," Fred says rather proudly. "A trick I learned from... well, that's not really important. I don't intend to kill anyone with it, or anything." He laughs at this. "Couldn't if I wanted to. See?" he says, folding his arms flat against his chest and falling to one side. His entire body disappears through the table as he "falls" to the floor. After a second, he pops his head back up through the table and pretends to lean his chin on his hands, looking at you curiously.
"But nevermind that," he says. "Where's George? He'll love this."

Blaire smiled weakly and noddded
'I know, Fia. I'm really sorry' she said sincerely. She looked around, and then back at her sister 'I'd like that,' she said slowly, thinking of going back down to breakfast. 'But I can't. I need to do something. I'll... I'll see you later?' she asked, and with that she turned and walked back to Headmaster Maltus's office. On the way, she noticed a small announcement. No lessons... funeral plans. Fifty seven funeral plans. But she couldn't let herself get distracted. She hurried on and knocked on the Headmasster's door apprehensively.

Fiona nodded her head and watched her twin walked back toward the Headmaster's office. She smiled softly. Leave it to Blaire to do the right thing. Turning away she headed in the direction of the Great Hall but changed directions, heading toward the dungeons and her common room instead. Walking into the room she headed for her dorm room but her attention was firmly diverted by an announcement posted on their board.
Classes postponed? Funerals... Daddy...
Tears well up from out of no where. Emotions bubbled up and threatened to choke her. Whirling around she ran from the common room, away from anybody who might see her. Turning down what seemed like endless hallways and up a few flights of stairs, Fiona found a deserted hallway and collapsed against the wall. Sliding down till she hit the floor Fiona drew her knees to her chest, dropped her head so that her forehead rested against her kneecaps.
Fiona released the cap on her tightly controlled emotions and did something that she almost never did. The Slytherin released a long wail of pain and desperation and then gave in the tears that she had held back for so long.

Blaire hears a call from within the Headmaster's office and pushes the door open a little hesitantly. Inside, she sees Headmaster Maltus filling out some kind of paperwork. if you care to look closely, you'll see the heading states that it's an incident report. If you're really interested, you also see that it has 'Ministry of Magic Report Form' written beneath the header.
Maltus looks up at you as you walk in and you can see that he looks very tired.
"Blaire," he greets you, looking a little surprised. He gestures to a seat in front of his desk.

A ghost flies through a wall nearby, drifts across the corridor, then goes through the opposite wall. A moment later, it comes back into the hall and looks at you. You can see that it's a youngish woman in her forties or so. You can't tell what color her hair is, but if you look up at her, you can imagine that it was blond. "Braith?" she asks. But... why is she calling you by your middle name?
"Oh, gosh, so sorry," she says and you can hear a Russian accent now. "Sometimes I forgetting what year dis is," she says pleasantly. "You look so much like my granddaughter vos ven she vos your age. Ah, sorry for interrupt," she says when she sees that you've been crying.
She starts to leave again.

Blaire sat down slowly in the seat the Headmaster had gestured to, her eyes not leaving the form he was filling out. She really, really hoped it wasn't what she thought it was. An... an accident form for Kalliope?

Fiona raises her tear streaked face as she hears a female voice. Her temper quickly rises to the surface, if anyone dared to interrupt or spy on her they would be sorry. She is slightly surprised though to find that it isn't a person at all, but a ghost. She looks oddly familiar.
Did she just call me Braith? That's my middle name...
Fiona tilts her head curiously as she listens to the woman ghost. Her accent is heavily Russian. It wasn't until she starts to turn and leave that her words finally penetrate Fiona's slow moving brain. That's what she hated so much about giving into your emotions, they left you dazed and confused. They took over everything until you were blind and deaf to things that needed to be seen and heard.
"W..wa...Wait!" She stammered. Whipping her eyes furiously, she leans forward blond hair falling into her face. Brushing it back quickly she looks at the ghost woman. "You called me Braith...and said I looked like you Great Granddaughter. Was her name Braith Malfoy?"
Fiona's brain was starting to function again, now that she had herself firmly back in check. She was vaguely glad that it was a ghost that had happened upon her break down. If it had been anyone else she would have been in trouble. Fie certainly didn't need it getting around that she had been crying.

Maltus looks at you for a moment, his mouth hanging open a little dumbly as you confess to what you've done. After a moment, he sort of snaps to and says, "Ahhh, well, yes." He clears his throat a little uncomfortably and says, "I do appreciate your... your honesty Blaire. Hogwarts, however, has a strict policy against dueling outside of properly supervised courses and clubs. Everyone with a drawn wand earned their own detentions"
He pauses for a minute before adding, "Under normal circumstances... well, in honesty, I would generally have expelled you, but... No easy way to say... due to your, ah... current state of mind... well, I've made certain allowances..." He looks very awkward and doesn't seem to be able to finish any sentences.

Blaire looked down at the floor as the Headmaster spoke, sure he would expell her. Somehow, though he didn't... special allowances due to her current state of mind? Well, fair enough. But at least she still had Braith... or did she? She'd have to mull that one over carefully sometime, she decided.
'Th-thank you, Headmaster' she said gratefully 'Erm, Proffessor... Kalliope... will she be alright?' Blaire asked, as tears began to drop down into her lap

Fiona listened as the woman talked about her mother and grandmother. Her mouth hung open in astonishment for a few moments marveling at the possibilities. Finally she came back to her senses. Standing back up she looks at the ghost woman unsure of where to start.
"I never knew my grandmother either. Mom didn't talk about her much. So, if Braith was your granddaughter, then I'm your great granddaughter. Fiona is my name and I have a twin. Blaire."
Shutting her mouth firmly she reeled inside for a few moments. She hadn't ever been prone to spewing out what was on her mind, though that was exactly what she had just done. Blasted crying! After a few more mental curses, Fiona re focused on her Great Grandmother. "Why are you here...if you don't mind my asking. I've been here for nearly seven years and haven't ever seen you around."
Fiona waited for the woman to answer though before she could she thought of an important question that couldn't wait. "Are you Alenya Ztetiovich" Her voice held the slightest bit of wonder, she was actually getting to talk to one of her ancestors.

Grrrr. Grr. Gem could not find Gen...anywhere! She had wandered around the whole school, with no sign of her sister. She hadn't really been paying that much attention; she had been lost in her thoughts, but she probably would have seen Gen if she had been anywhere near where she went. So Gem went back to the common room. And there was Gen, RIGHT WHERE SHE HAD STARTED! Grrrrrr. Grr. Oh well. Gem walked over to Gen and sat down next to her. "Hey Gen," she said, wondering what her sister's reaction would be.

She listened as Izzy and Gem talked about going to the library to research. "Um...I'm really not in the mood guys. I think I just want to try and clear my mind a bit." She didn't want to think about this anymore than she did. A little time away from this would be better.

"Um...well," Gem was figuring out how to tell Gen what had happened. Technically she hadn't been by the Slytherin table, she had cursed Kalliope from by the Hufflepuff table. But she knew what Gen meant. Then Gen said they would talk later and Gem nodded.
Gem was about to follow Izzy when Gen said she wasn't coming. Gem looked at her with worry in her eyes. She didn't know if Gen wanted her to stay or not, but she decided to go with Izzy, because she wanted to investigate. Gem nodded at Gen. "We'll be in the library," she said before following Izzy to the library.
Gen smiled at Gen. She could tell that Gem was concerned about her. "All right. If I need you I'll come look for you." She watched as Gem and Izzy left for the library. She let out a sigh as she looked around the somewhat empty common room. There was a group of girls in the corner talking in hushed tones and motioning to Gen. She shot them a glare which made them rush out of the room instantly. She grinned with satisfaction before scanning the common room again.

Gem thought; and she had no idea, she had never researched dreams before. "um... the dream section," she suggested feebly, then she smiled to show she was joking. "I have no idea." Gem shrugged and went to the shelf. She pulled out books at random and looked at the cover. How was she supposed to find one about dreams? Was there a class that would cover that? Maybe divination...Gem went over to the divination section and continued her search.
Finally she found a book called, 'Your subconscious mind; dreams and other things that interest you.' Well this looks promising, Gem thought. She took the book down, along with a few others on dreams and went to a table. There were already a few books on it, so she pushed them away. Gem would put them back later, she didn't want to leave the library messy. Then she opened the book; which was pretty with a pink and purple cover, and blue words. She didn't know what she was looking for in it, so she started reading.

Monday watched in amazement as the man 'fell' through the table. This is just getting stranger. He knew who the man was now and who George was. He was in shock up until this moment, but needed to say something soon or he was going to completely lose his mind. "As far as I know, there's no one around here with the name George."
"Oh, right, right," he says, pulling himself upright so that he's still standing in the middle of the table with the lower half of his body invisible beneath it. "It's somewhere about a hundred years in the future or whatnot. Hermione told me when it would take effect." He heaves a great sigh and says, "Ah, well. Who are you two, then? And not just names, boys. I really need lineages, otherwise you're no good to me."
Additionally, Izzy and Gem will eventually notice the disturbance going on in the library. And Gem, you already know who Fred Weasley is. There is a full portrait of him in your house and you've grown up speaking to him. He's always been a good friend to you.
Isn't that lovely since you've just lost everyone you love?

Gem was reading the book, it was quite boring actually, when she heard voices. One she recognized as Monday's, the other was familiar but she couldn't quite place. She had a nagging feeling, like she should know who the voice belonged to. It was on the tip of her tounge, but she couldn't quite place it. Without saying anything Gem got up and walked over to the bookshelf. She peered out from behind it to see what was going on. She saw Monday and Dallin at a table, and a man she didn't recognize at the table. Actually, half his body was under that table, it was like he was transparent. Gem noticed that he had the Weasley red hair, and he was wearing an odd jacket. where had she seen that jacket before. Gem went to a different bookshelf to look out behind, and she could see his face. Was that..."Fred Weasley?" She hadn't realized it, but she said the words out loud. Oops. Gem crossed her fingers that they wouldn't hear, she didn't want them to catch her eavsdropping.

Fred turns in the middle of his mock interrogation of the boys when he hears someone call his name. "Oy?" he says in answer, unable to see the person addressing him at first. When he spots a face peering at him from behind a bookshelf, he laughs out loud.
"Gemini, love!" he shouts, running over. "I'd hug you if I had arms. How've you been, darling?"

Gem blushed to be caught eavsdropping, but she smiled when she saw Fred. "hello Fred," she said happily. "I've been..." How was she supposed to answer that? Good? Okay? Not good? Terrible? Horrible? Good would definately not be the right answer, she wasn't that good a liar. "Um..." She was at a loss for words. Finally she settled with. "Physically, I'm perfectly fine. Emotianally, well that's different." But she didn't want to trouble him, even though he wasn't real. Or...what exactly was he? "not to be rude or anything," Gem said. "But why are you here?" She hoped he wouldn't take it the wrong way.

Fred thinks about this for a moment and then says, "Well, I'm having a little trouble remembering why I'm here. I'm only a sliver of a memory, you see. Anchored to a journal," he says, pointing to the journal on the table excitedly. "Hermione's a genius!" He pauses and looks a little sad, "Was a genius, I suppose it is now. But, nevermind that," he says. "What's wrong with you, my love? Is it a boy? What's his name? I'll haunt him 'til his hair falls out."

Gem is confused, very confused. But having a good memory was not one of the qualities she would use to describe Fred. But she partly understood. He was a memory, like Voldemort had been. She knew that, because she liked books, escpecially about her family history. And she had already known Hermione was a genious, but now she was even more of a genious. She giggled at Fred's last question. "No, it's not that, it's..." She almost didn't want to tell him, they were his family too technically. He just didn't know them. She hadn't known them all personally either, there were far too many and she was far too shy. Gem decided to tell them, she had known she would tell him the whole time. "My whole family died," she said quietly. the words sounded different coming out of her mouth, almost like a confirmation that this whole thing was true. "Except for my sister and a few distant aunts, uncles and cousins." She breathed in and out deeply so she wouldn't cry.
