Per Ardua Ad Astra Through....adversity to the stars...

I know a lot of people are making up all these extravagant RPGs right now, you know, combining shows and movies and other themes with Harry Potter, but I really wanted to take it back to basics. I mean, we all know Harry's story, we read about it for hours on end because we can't put the book down. And we know some things about Harry's parents, but the rest is really just guess work. I know there are a few Marauder's RP's out right now but I never seem to join them on time so I decided to make my own. James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Petigrew and Lily Evans all fascinate me and since we don't have any books written on them, it's really up to us to make up their story. So that's why I've made up this RP.

It's based on the relationships of James and his best friends as well as the relationship of James and Lily, after all, without James and Lily, there would be no....the boy who lived and no defeat of the great Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort. It's based on the struggles they all go through and how they work to overcome them.

I have no real prference to how we take this, but I have a few things to help the plot along. I would like them to be in sixth year, and at this point, Lily still "hates" James, or at least acts like it. Once we've got more into the RP, we can start to make decisions as to when they should start dating. But this RP isn't only focused on those two, it also is about Sirius, Lupin and Peter and even Snape. Seeing as we don't know many of the students who would have attended at that time, we will have a bunch of made ups to play those characters. You guys can basically make up any relationships, except for the one we know, James and Lily, but by all means, either of them could date other students before they start dating each other. So have fun and let's try and make this a great RP, please only ask for characters if you will be committed. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine is ONE SENTENCE POSTS, so please don't do that, try to go into some detail, have something intersting to say to move the plot along, hehe.

Bellatrix placed her arm around his and walked very close to him, feeling very excited about the upcming dance. She ignored several more cat calls as they headed out of the common room and up towards the Great Hall.

"Let's go!" Lily said excitedly. She couldn't wait to be out on that dance floor, with James holding her in his strong arms. They headed up to the Great Hall and Lily felt a jolt of excitement as she heard the music playing from teh Great Hall and the smell of pumpkin spices and burning candles wafting through the air. Just as she was James were about to head into the Great Hall she saw something that made her stomache drop to her feet. Bellatrix had just arrived with none other than Severus. She narrowed her eyebrows, knowing that Bellatrix was nothing but trouble. A sinking feeling settled over her as she realised how amazing Bellatrix looked in the tight black dress that hung perfectly off her curves. Her tall, slender frame looked amazing. And Severus,.....he looked good too. She looked away before he caught her eye. She wouldn't let him see that she was jealous, not after the way he treated her earlier.

Severus walked proudly to the Great Hall, a smug grin playing at the corners of his mouth. Every time he caught someone looking at Bellatrix for too long, he fixed that person with a glare that clearly says 'If you keep looking at her like that, you'll regret it later when you're missing limbs.'
Instead of his normal, slouched steps, Snape was carrying himself upright, as if nothing could stop him.
But then he saw Lily and Potter, together and happy. Severus nearly collapsed right then and there. Lily was positively radiating beauty, to the point of it almost being physically painful.
"Do you want something to drink?" asked a very distracted Severus, finally able to tear his gaze from Evans.

James walked with Lily clinging to his arm. It was a fantastic feeling. His breath was taken away by the complete redecoration of the Great Hall. It was a bit dreary, yet bright at the same time. Those house elves really out did themselves this years.
"So, shall we dance, sit, eat? Anything really," said James, he couldn't stop fidgeting with his massive amounts of energy.

Lily looked away from Severus and back to James. And for a second she forgot why she was upset, his eyes penetrated right through her and she was lost in his gaze.
"Let's dance!" she said excitedly.

Bellatrix was loving every minute of it. Every time some guy looked at her she would press herself closer against him, feeling powerful with Severus beside her. She loved having all eyes on her. She turned to him and saw something flicker in his eyes, but decided to pass it off as a figment of her imagination.
"Shall we dance?" she asked, smirking at him.

Severus nodded, "I would love to." He took Bellatrix's hand and guided her to the dance floor. He wrapped a pallid hand around her green clad waist and began a slow sort of waltz, as the music was mostly mellow at the moment.

James practically ran to the dance floor, though he was thoroughly disappointed by the slow music. Despite that, he pulled Lily into a quick spin and put all his efforts into successfully swing dancing without breaking any limbs.

Bellatrix smiled as he put his arm around her. She places one hand in his and the other on his shoulder. She would never admit it but dancing was one of her favourite things to do.

Lily spun around gracefully, quite surprised she had pulled it off. She came to a halt in front of him and she realised how close they were standing. She smiled, and placed one hand on his shoulder, waiting for him to take her other hand. She had been to many different types of dances before and was eager to see what this one would be like.

Severus Wrapped his fingers tighter around Bellatrix, casting a smirk in James's direction. It felt good to have a girl to rival Potter's, even if it was Lily.
He spun slowly, revolving on the spot, spun Bella around a couple times and grinned. "I apologize," Severus said softly,"For I have very limited dancing skills."

James took Lily's offered hand, not catching the glare from Severus. "You're really good at this," admitted James, admiring Evan's grace as she danced. His eyes were caught by the way her hair flared as she spun, the way her charmed wings fluttered with every movement.

"You wouldnt no it, you dance very well." Bellatrix said, loving the feeling of him having an arm around her. The continued dancing but suddenly the music changed to a much faster one. She looked around to see how everyone else was dancing...

"Thanks!" she said beaming at him. It was all that practicing I did by myself in the dorm she though. She decided better than to share that tid bit of information with him. When the song changed to that of a fast one, she also looked around the dance floor, not sure what dance everyone would break out in next..

"Thank you," mumbled Severus softly. As the music slowed, Severus found himself in quite a dilemma. He didn't know how to dance to such music. No one had ever taught him such a thing, and he had never been to a dance to observe the proper dancing techniques used to upbeat music. like this. Severus looked around quickly, just to see what everyone else was doing, then copied them, making additions and changing things around. With a quickly, jazzy sort of spin and a little shake, arms pumping madly, Snape grinned impishly at Bellatrix. He was having fun. So much fun, that he even forgot to glance at Lily every thirty seconds.

James, much unlike Severus, was having no trouble dancing to the new song. He swirled and hopped and spun wildly, smiling all the while at Lily. "This is fantastic!" he exclaimed happily, "We need to do this more often."

Bellatrix smiled and followed Severus' motions, some times dancing very close to him, and others a few steps back so he could see her. She was getting several looks from other guys but her eyes were only for Severus. She loved how his eyes never left her.

Lily twirled around, dancing along to the beat. She was loving every minute of it. A couple hourse of dancing past, and Lily wasn't even aware of what time it was.
"Want to sit for a bit?" she asked, her feet starting to ache.

After yet another song ended, Severus found himself out of breath. "Are you thirsty yet? Tired, perhaps. I certainly am, let's sit for a little while," he suggested, grasping Bellatrix's hand and guiding her off the dance floor, wiping his moist brow with his free hand.

James nodded enthusiastically. "Sitting would be much appreciated," he agreed, glancing around the room. Many couples were chatting and bobbing along to the music. "Do you want some butterbeer or something?" he inquired, pointing over to a table laden with drinks and snacks.

Bellatrix smiled, glad he had suggested it.
"Good idea, we've been dancing for a while." she said as they headed off the dance floor. She noticed Lily and James heading in the same direction of them and she glared at Lily.

Lily looked over, somewhat startled at Bellatrix's rude glare.
"Um ya that would be a good idea." she said, heading in the opposite direction with him to get some butterbeers.
She glanced at Severus for a moment, but saw he was still avoiding her gaze. She frowned and followed James.

Severus nodded again, then noticed Bellatrix glaring at someone. He followed her gaze, and saw himself looking at Lily. Uncomfortably, Sev moved his eyes elsewhere before Lily felt his eyes on her.
As soon as the couple neared an empty table, Severus pulled out a chair for Bellatrix to sit in, then took a seat himself. At loss for anything to say, the Slytherin allowed himself to admire Lily's slight form as she walked to the table with all of the food.

"Alright," agreed James, closing the space between them and the table. He grabbed two bottles of butterbeer, handing one to Lily as he took a swig of his own.

Bellatrix smirked as Lily avoided her. Stupid red head. Thoght she ran the school. She sat down in the chair the Severus pulled out for her.
"Thanks." she said smiling at him.
The lights dimmed even more and she looked around, noicing that most of the teachers had left for bed. A slow song finished and a modern rock song came on. She smirked, liking how it was much more like a muggle dance or concert now.

"Thank you." she said smiling at James as he handed her a butterbeer.
She carefully glanced over to where Bellatrix and Severus sat, wondering why Bellatrix disliked her so much. Lily frowned as she watched the two together, for some reason she really didn't like Severus being with Bellatrix. Was she jealous? No not possible. Lily shook her head and diverted her eyes to the dance floor where several students had broken out in random dance moves to go along with the rock song that was playing. Lily smiled in spite of herself, they really didn't look any different than some of her old muggle friends.

Almost over, Severus told himself, nearly sighing in relief. It had been a painful night. Seeing Lily with James, seeing them having fun together was torture.
"You're welcome, Bella," he murmured, his gaze trailing to Lily as he did so.
"I do hope I made your night enjoyable," he stated, placing his hand close to Bellatrix's so that their fingers brushed against each other's.

James grinned at Lily, so caught up in the night to even spare a moment to glare at Snape. Who needed to think about the stupid Slytherin anyways? He wasn't worth it. Not now, at least. Not with Lily Evans at his side.
"Do you want to go join them?" inquired James as he saw Lily staring at a group of dancing students.

I warm smiled replaced her normal sneer or smirk as she looked at Severus. She cauight herself and looked away.
"Thanks, it has been great. I hope you had fun." she said looking back at him.
She felt butterflies in her stomache flutter as he brushed her hand.

"That's okay, I'm kind of tired. I was just noticing how much they reminded me of the way muggle kids acted at dances back home. We don't really have that many differences, other than magic. We are all people." she said, tilting her head to the side thoughtfully as she watched them. Her long red hair fell down over her face and she tucked it behind her ear, still watching them.

I'm sooooo sooo sorry, I got grounded. But I'm back now.

Severus, too busy looking at Lily, did not notice the soft look on Bellatrix's face. Only when the Slytherin spoke, did he happen to glance at her.
"Oh, yes, it's been great. I'm glad I came with you," he said, smiling slightly, though feeling a bit guilty for lying to her like that. "Are you tired yet?" he asked softly, carefully wrapping his fingers around hers.

"I've never really had many Muggle friends," admitted James thoughtfully. "But I agree. I mean, from what I've seen, we're all still human." Prongs smiled at his dancing school mates, then around the emptying hall. Only half of the original crowd was still there.

Bellatrix smiled at him, glad he had wrapped his fingers around hers.
"I am tired, we did a lot of dancing, but it was so much fun." she said looking down and blushing slightly, this was not her normal demeanor.

Lily smiled and continued watching, somewhat absent mindedly. She unconciously leaned in closer to him, so that her head somewhat rested on his shoulder. It was totally unlike her, but it felt right.
"I don't want it to end." she said quietly, her green eyes still flickering around the hall.
She could feel her eyes getting heavy but she would not permit herself to doze off, she didn't want this to end..

Severus grinned sheepishly back at Bellatrix, his eyes on their hands.
"Do you want to go back to the common room, then?" he suggested. "I don't want to keep you up too late."
And he didn't want to stay in the room with Lily and James, but he was not going to tell Bella that.

James' heart nearly beat itself out of his chest when Lily drew nearer. Tentatively, as if fearing an explosion, James wound his arm around her shoulders, allowing his appendage to rest there lightly.
"I don't either," agreed James quietly, hoping his pulse would slow down to a normal rate some time soon.

"Ya that would be good!" she said, smiling at him. She liked the idea of walking through the quiet, dark hallways with Severus, hopefully holding his hand. Hopefully they could talk, it would be much quieter..

Lily felt butterflies flutter in her stomache as James put his arm around her. She smiled, ignoring the nervoud, awkward feeling that threatened to break loose. Why ruin it? Just relax with him she told herself. She rested her head on his shoulder, tucking a long strand of red hair back behind her ear.

Severus felt his lips twitch into a small grin at Bellatrix's enthusiastic response. It was most unlike her to be so happy, especially around him. "Let's go," he said, standing up. Severus kept his hand in hers as he guided Bellatrix out of the Great Hall, only pausing to chance a quick look at Lily. He instantly regretted it, scowling as he entered the corridor.

Comfortable as it was, it was getting late. And there were only a few people still there. "Lily," James mumbled, "I think they'll kick us out if we don't leave soon." Hesitantly, James removed his arm from Lily's shoulder, glancing pointedly towards the door.

Bellatrix tossed a snarky look at Lily as they passed, noticing that Snape had glanced over. She grew herself closer to him and looked away, happy to be leaving with him.

Lily looked up and nodded, noticing that Severus had glanced at her. She frowned when Bellatrix glared at her. She glanced away quickly and smiled at James. "Ya lets go." she said, busying herself with gathering her some what decreped wings, hoping to stall time so they wouldn't meet Severus and Bellatrix in the hallway....After a few moments she gathered them and headed after James.

It was nice, walking through the halls with Bellatrix. Severus was not used to her being so civil to him, ever. In fact, he was beginning to worry if it would last any longer than tonight. Unease drifted through him, amplifying the silence to an almost deafening volume. "Erm, wh-what are your plans for tomorrow?" he asked after a few moments.

James grinned back at Lily. He hardly noticed anything around him with her present. "It's a shame we only get to wear these costumes once," he commented as he stepped through the huge wooden doors. "Don't you think?"

Bellatrix smiled inwardly when Snape asked her about her plans for tomorrow, but she did not let it register on her face. The truth was that she had had a small crush on him for forever, but had alwyas found it easier to be unpleasant rather than smiled and flirt and twitter like all the other stupid girls in the school. But she was now finding it hard to not be a blushing, flattering school girl.
"Nothing really." she answered calmly, hoping he would go on.

Lily smiled at him, the small voices of doubt in her head getting pushed back further and further. So far he had not given her a reason to doubt him or question him and she felt her defensive wall start to melt away. It made her slightly uneasy, but the butterflies and elation she felt overruled the uneasiness.
"I really like this costume, and yours, I agree, its too bad we can't wear them again." she said glancing around and not seeing Severus or Bellatrix anyway, they had probably turned right out of the Great Hall and headed down to the dungeons, just as well, she didn't want to see him with Bellatrix in some deserted hallway....she did not let her mind wander any farther. Instead she headed up the stairs with James, heading back to the Gryffindor common room. As they walked she noticed that their hands continued to brush, she slowly slipped her hand into his larger warm one, waiting to see what his reaction was.

Nothing, Bellatrix was doing nothing. That sounded hopeful; she hadn't made up some excuse. Unless, of course, she didn't think he'd make any suggestions. Severus mentally rolled his eyes at himself for picking now to be self-conscious.
"Well, neither am I," Severus said slowly, taking a deep breath, "We should do something together."
There, that wasn't so bad.

James chuckled, "You make a great fairy. We should wear these again...Over the weekend or something, just for fun."
Prongs' breath nearly got stuck in his throat. Lily was holding his hand. He felt as if his stomach had curled up into a ball and was bouncing around his ribcage. "I...um...Your..." he started, but failing miserably at forming a sentence. "Your hand is smaller than I thought," he managed at last.

Bellatrix heart gave a flutter when he asked her out.
"I would love to." she said smiling at him.
She tried to not let the excitment show on her face but was having a difficult time of it.
She subtly reached over and grabbed his hand, wrapping her fingers around his. She realised they had stopped in the hallway to talk, so she leaned back against the cold stone wall.
"I can't wait for tomorrow now." she said honestly, smiling at him somewhat sheepishly.
Inwardly she shook her head, this was totally out of character for her, what was going on?

"I will deffinately consider it." she said laughing at the thought. She smirked at him as he failed to form a coherent sentance.
"Well your hand is a lot bigger." she said, lauughing, unsure of how to reply.
