Snape fell asleep soon after Professor Sinistra had left and awoke several hours later. He walked into the washroom and lifted his shirt. His stomach wound was completely healed with just a faint scar. He tried bending and twisting; the pain was gone. Flexing the muscles in his left forearm, Snape stared at the Dark Mark and sighed while rolled his sleeve back down. He had another meeting tonight, though this meeting would prove a lot less dangerous. However, Dumbledore was having some special speaker from outside the order therefore, they would not be meeting at Headquarters. They would be meeting in the Shrieking Shack; Snape dreaded going back to that place. |
Carrying some bread and a bottle of jam on a tray, Ron entered a room and found himself with Guin and Elizabeth. He searched for a table and placed the silver tray on it. He walked towards them and said, "You all better eat something. I'll be back and get the jam. Better ask me now if you need something so I'll get it and take it up here." |
"No, Ron, bread is just fine - i don't think i could stomach much else. Umm-" she paused for a second, then decided to ask anyway "Have you seen Harry? Um, how is he holding up?" |
Ginny sat quietly between her parents, letting their warm presence be enough solace for now. When Neville appeared through the door looking sad and cold, she rose and answered his query with a shaky, "Not really," before she slid into a tight embrace. There was something very solid and comforting about Neville, and Ginny was grateful for someone else who had known and lived with Luna, even if it had been for a very short time. George nodded, knowing full well that his mother wouldn't be happy they were in teh order. It bothered her that Charlie and Bill were in it, and she had come to terms with their independence long ago. Plus, she had always viewed them as steady and dependable and able to protect life and limb. Fred and George had no such labels attached to them. "Professor Dumbledore," George stumbled, wondering how he could ask this and still appear to be the courageous, responsible man that Dumbledore would want in his organization. "You're going to tell Mum, right? You don't want Fred and I to do it?" |
"Actually," he said, smiling once more. "I thought it best if I was with you when you broke the news to your mother." |
Neville pulled Ginny into a hug. They hadn't really been that close during the time they were room mates but right now that didn't matter. They shared time with Luna and now she had been senselessly taken from them. That alone was enough for the moment. |
"And when you say break the news, you mean in a large, public place in which no one can be killed and their are lots of eye-witnesses? And perhaps you'll provide body guards?" George was only half kidding, wondering if Dumbledore realized truly what the wrath of Molly Weasley was like. |
Dumbledore smiled sympathetically as he walked over to the door and opened it. "After you young gentleman," he said, gesturing Fred and George through the door. "I believe they are in the kitchen. We'll need to inform Molly now, to give the storm a chance to die back before the meeting." |
Fred was more than relieved to hear that Hermione was safe and well, and would be arriving soon. He let his mind wonder a bit, letting some of the events that had just happened sink in. But the mention of his mother, brought him back to his senses rather quickly. Fred thought that George had the right idea, having Dumbledore tell their mother himself, but apparantly Dumbledore didn't want them in the Order as bad as he said he did. Because in a few short moments when the Twins informed her, their mother would be killing them for accepting Dumbledore's offer and no more Order for the Fred and George. Fred stepped through the door first, and thinking it best to get some points in before all hell broke lose in the kitchen, he ran to his mother and gave her a huge, tight hug. |
Looking up from her jam sandwich, Elizabeth saw the kitchen door open and Fred run across to Mrs Weasley and hug her. She sensed something was up, so she moved a bit closer. Perhaps Dumbledore had told Fred something important. Elizabeth looked to the door, hoping George would enter too, soon. |
Molly looked up in surprise as Fred grabbed her and hugged her tightly. George followed close behind him, offering a quick smile to Elizabeth before he grabbed his mother and hugged her as well. "Well, its nice to see you, Fred, George," she nodded a greeting at them both, patting George's hand where it rested on her shoulder and stroking Fred's face as he sat next to her. "And now... do you need money or are you in trouble with the Ministry?" |
George bit his lip and looked to Dumbledore for assistance. The man simply gestured for him to go on. "Well, Mum... its like this. Um... we... um... Fred... FRED has to tell you something very important!" He nodded vigorously and hoped his brother wouldn't kill him later. |
Elizabeth laughed slightly as Mrs Weasley asked if they needed money, then regained her composure. She heard George say that Fred had something important to tell Mrs Weasley, and she listened intently. |
Guin had quietly eaten with Elizabeth and Ron but barely talked. She was still confussed and all that she has heard was that someone had passed...supposedly it was the Lovegood girl. Sighing Guin noticed the twins and imediately took a seat out of their way, she had been tormented by their ill frantics enough for her to bare. After being woken by his mother Bill got a message from Dumbledore. Quickly he got dressed and left the house apparating to where he was needed. After quickly contacting the people needed and what they were to do next Bill made his leave. Finally back at headquarters Bill walked in and noticed people all over the place. Quickly spotting Dumbledore he tapped his shoulder and whispered, "They have been told sir, they'll be there." And walked over to his worrying mother who was facing the twins. |
"Hello, Bill dear," Molly greeted him with a pat as well, before turning back to the twins. "Your brothers have something important to tell me, but they're stalling. Do YOU know what it is? Just tell me they aren't going to Azkaban," her teasing voice pleading with them all. George gave Fred a look that clearly said to get a move on, then he turned back to his mother. Actually, he was facing Molly, but he was also studiously ignoring her eye contact. Glancing over her shoulder, George spotted Guin frowning at himself and Fred. It was an attractive sort of sulk, however, and George wasn't bothered by it at all. Now Guin... Guin wasn't a Hermione type. She could hold her own and she didn't need a nice, settled sort of boy. Guin might be able to handle all of Fred. George winked as Guin's frown moved to encompass him and she looked a bit surprised. He'd need to have a talk with her before too long. |
Elizabeth looked amusedly at the new arrival, obviously another of the weasley boys. As he was greeted by Mrs Weasley Elizabeth smiled and began to eat her crusts, noticing that he was good-looking. |
Dumbledore nodded to Bill as he came in and went back to waiting patiently for one of the twins to tell their mother they had been inducted into the Order. |
Fred decided that being a twin wasn't all it was made out to be, and IF he lived through telling his mother of his and George's decision, he'd kill George as his first order of business. Fred stalled for as long as he possibly could, all eyes bearing down on him. After taking a long deep breath he said, "Mother, first off, you're looking quite lovely today. New dress? It looks fabulous nonetheless. And, well, ....Me and George, George and I have decidedtojointheOrder." Fred nodded at his mother's bewildered look. "So...what's next? Tea? Anyone for tea? I'll go make tea.." |
Molly put her hand out to stop Fred's progression toward the tea pot. Her face was a bit red and she looked non-too-pleased. "What?" she asked, looking at Dumbledore to see if he was in on this little scheme. "No, you haven't. You don't DECIDE to join the Order." Her look at Dumbledore sharpened into an accusatory glare and she thought it was high time he explained what he was doing. |
Dumbledore's eyes twinkled as he smiled at Molly Weasley. "Actually, Molly, they did decide. After all, I don't force people into accepting a position within the Order, I invite them to make their own choice on the matter," he said, utterly unaffected by the piercing glare which cowed everyone else in the room. |
Molly frowned. "Well, they're too young and they aren't ready yet. Maybe in a few years... but they aren't trained. No offense," she shot the boys an apologetic look, "But they don't have any skills. Why would you put two young men on the front line like this who can't even fight for themselves?" She ignored how red George's face was growing, focusing on Dumbledore, who seemed to be her culprit. |
"Molly, frankly, you have no power to decide for them any longer. I assure you, the Order can benefit from the skills these two young wizards possess. They have made their decision and shall be inducted into the Order before our special speaker arrives at the meeting tonight," he said. |
Molly humphed and toned down her glare, taking in her two mischievious boys. "Well, I don't suppose I get any say in it, but I'm not happy about it. At least Ginny and Ron are still out of it." Her hand instinctively went to stroke each of theirs and they smiled at her. "You'll discover it for yourselves someday, I suppose - the problem with children is that they don't have the sense to remain children." Her words lacked sting however, and the boys could hear that she wasn't happy, but she was proud of their decision. George grinned and looked at Fred. They were in and even their mum wasn't going to fuss about it. Maybe finally people would have the consideration to leave them in the loop. Fred grinned back before seeking out Hermione with his eyes. George rolled his eyes and reminded himself that he needed to have several conversations when they got back from this meeting. "So... who's speaking?" |
Dumbledore smiled at Molly and then, took a seat at the head of the kitchen table. "Professor Sinistra," he said, in answer to George's question. "I just hope Severus will be able to make it. I was hoping to discuss some things with him and Kingsley," he contiinued, not really speaking to anyone in particular. |
Fred, glad that Dumbledore was taking the heat and not himself, grinned widely back at George. He could hardly believe that he and George were actually in, and if he didn't know better, he'd say his mother was almost proud of the two. He threw his arms around his mother once more and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, mum." ANd Fred settled himself back down on his chair to listen to Dumbledore. He searched the room to see all that were present, and his eyes fell to Hermione back in one of the corners with Harry. She looked upset and tired. Fred let his eyes rest on her a bit, before turning back to Dumbldore. He was bound determined to be a good Order member, and that meant pay attention to every word from Dumbledore's mouth. So Fred gave the old wizard all of attention... for the time being. |
