Harry laughed and twirled her around until she spun back to him, landing right against him. He used all of his willpower not to kiss her and smiled, "You should check on your popcorn," He said, nodding his head towards the stove. |
Snape had never been so stunned in his entire life. Not only had she stood up to him, pushed him, literally and figuritively, around but, now she was putting him to bed and undressing him. He fought with himself to keep still as her hands reached for his belt buckle and she began to loosen it. He thought she would leave it at that, especially after her muttered exclamation, but, he should have guessed by the set of her jaw that she was determined to finish the task she had set before herself: to help him into bed. After she pulled the covers up to his chin and turned away, dimming the lights, Snape suddenly realized that she had forgotten to give him his sleeping draught. Loathe as he was to call her back, Snape knew that he might not fall asleep and, if he should happen to slumber, he would relive the night over and over until the dreams woke him. "Professor," he called. "I hate to inconvenience you further but, could you possibly pour me that sleeping draught?" |
Ginny's eyes widened and she hurried to the stove where the popcorn kernals had begun to pop. She took care of it for a while before siphoning off the popped kernals into a bowl, to which she added salt. Setting the bowl in her lap, Ginny nestled against Harry and grinned mischieviously at him. He had to reach around her to get into the bowl, so she got a hug everytime he reached for popcorn. The lights were nearly out and Tara was glad for it. Her face was burning up from her uncharacteristic out burst as well as the fact that she had just helped to undress a colleague. Help? She'd done ALL the undressing. His call reminded her that she wasn't finished, and she turned back. "Of course," she responded, her voice bland as it often was. Tara lit her wand and moved back to where she had left the draught. She found a tumbler nearby and poured the draught into the cup, hoping preciseness wasn't essential. Moving back to his side, Tara eased his head up and supported his weight with her own body. With her free hand, she placed the cup at his mouth, and he drank deeply. |
Snape was pleasantly surprised with the amount of care his fellow professor gave to him as she supported him and held the cup to his lips. It wasn't until he had drained the cup that he realized his good hand had come up to grasp the cup, his fingers, curled over Tara's hand. He quickly dropped his hand as she gently laid him back down. Snape reached out and grabbed her hand before she could walk away. Holding her fingers loosely in his hand he attempted to thank her for all she had done for him. "Thank you... I appreciate the help you have given me tonight," he said, a bit unsure of himself as he dropped her hand, wondering what in Merlin's name he thought he was doing. |
"Well my apologies Guin. I do hope nothing from my and George's room has done any permant damage to you? Or maybe it already has and that's why you refuse to stop poking us?" Fred flashed her a smile, then took a seat across from her, next to Hermione. He saw his bowler lying abandoned in the corner and summoned it to him. He slipped it on his head and sipped his tea in the most proper fashion he could muster. "Spiffing tea George! You will give me regards to the chef?" |
Amused at the way Ginny chose to position herself, Harry smiled and ate some of the popcorn. When he reached for a handful, his hand touched hers and he took her hand in his once again. He brought her hand to his face and kissed it gently, enjoying the feel of his lips on her skin. "Am I allowed to kiss your hand like this, Miss Wealsey?" Hermione laughed, watching Fred. He was so funny... and cute in his own little ways. "What was going on while you were making the tea?" She asked. She had heard them, attempting to be quiet. |
Fred, the definition of honesty, simply replied to Hermione. "My day..and you.. and George being jealous so he shoved me on the ground. But we're fine now. Just a bit of brotherly love, " he said batting his eyelashes and blowing a kiss to George. |
Hermione giggled. She blushed, though, when Fred said George was jealous. Of what exactly? "Why was he jealous?" She asked, hoping that he didn't remember what she did to distract him from Luna. She hadn't planned on him remembering, because he was so intoxicated, but it appeared as though he had. |
"What else? My dashing good looks, of course!" Fred said tipping his hat Hermione's way. "Well, that and the fact that I got to spend my entire day with two lovely young ladies..."Fred said as he gave Hermione's nose a little tap. Fred wasn't telling the complete truth, but it was a pretty good version of the truth. For some reason, Fred wasn't sure whether or not he wanted Hermione to know that he had remembered her sudden closeness to him. And not to mention that George was right...he didn't want to lead Hermione on...or did he? |
Hermione smiled, keeping the pink tinge to her cheeks. When she felt his finger on his nose, she shivered a little bit. She wasn't quite sure why and wondered about it. Her mind wandered away until she noticed the silence that had settled around the table. She nodded in a sort of response to Fred's statement. |
Fred looked around the table for something to comment on. Nothing. This was boring and awkward and not for Fred. He never was one to sit anywhere for too long. Fred mind wondered down to the lab...and the project that he and George had been working on for so long. Then he saw Hermione, looking his way. Fred narrowed his eyes at her..she would be perfect. She was brilliant..she could probably iron the kinks out...if she approved of Fred and George's little invention to start with that is. "I've just had an idea. Excuse me, "Fred said getting up from table and bowing deeply to his guests. "Duty calls." Fred bent down to Hermione's ear, "I could use some help if you don't care. What do you say?" |
Hermione was quite surprised and confused, but something made her want to go with Fred. Maybe it was how he bent down and talked in her ear and his face was so close... Okay, she needed to stop this. Fred was her best friend's older brother and nothing more. "Uh... alright..." She agreed, following Fred. |
Fred had to admit that he was a little surprised that Hermione agreed to come down with him. Maybe she was as bored as Fred was...or maybe Fred hadn't imagined her sudden closeness to him from earlier. Regardless, she was with him now. Once outside of the kitchen and away from prying eyes, Fred turned to Hermione, "You are aware that I'm taking you to the Lab? You're not afraid or anything?" Hermione didn't seem to worried, or if she was she hiding it very well, so Fred proceeded down the stairs and to the small door at the back of their flat. Fred opened the door and let Hermione go in, in front of himself. "Welcome to where me and George make it all happen!" Fred said moving around her. He unstrung his robes and hung them on a hook on the wall. "Oh..um..Hermione, I wouldn't touch anything around here. George and I spilled some invisible Flesh-eating solution down here the other day..and well, we haven't figured out how to find it yet. So..be careful." Fred moved to the big desk in the back of the lab and turned the huge lamp on. He motioned for Hermione to come take a seat beside him, in George's usual chair. He unrolled a rather large piece of parchement in front of her. "This..this is what George andI just can't seem to get right.." |
Hermione followed him into their lab. She looked around and observed the room. It was somewhat tidy, not enough for her liking, but better than what the twins' usually kept their room at the Burrow, which she had only seen from being at the house so often for wedding plans. She sat down as e motioned for her to do and looked toward him, awaiting whatever he was planning to show to her. When he unrolled the parchment in fron of her, she glanced over it, then looked back up at Fred expectantly. |
Fred smoothed out all the creases and looked down at the paper like it was gold. "This is a map...one very much like the one we had at Hogwarts. I believe you know what I'm talking about. Except this one is of Diagon Alley. The Maurader's Map helped us along so much at Hogwarts, that we thought it couldn't hurt to have one of our new home. But George and I can't get it to wipe away when we're done. We know it's some sort of password charm...and we've tried a few, but we can't get it. I..well, you're brillant and all, I was thinking you could maybe take a look at it. You don't have to..but, George and I would sure appreciate it.."Fred finished, looking to Hermione, noticing the light from the lamp reflecting in her eyes. Fred wasn't sure what was in his drink from earlier in the day..but Fred was suddenly seeing Hermione in a whole new light...His little brothers object of affection for years, the biggest know-it-all ever to pass through Hogwarts...He had to stop this madness. |
Hermione looked at the map with concentration. She turned to suggest something to Fred and noticed how he was looking at her. He never looked at her like that before. It was a strange look and it distracted Hermione greatly. She moved her eyes to his, "I... uh... I'd suggest..." What was she going to suggest? "Looking for a book on... er... minor secuirty charms...?" |
Fred, coming out of his stupor, realized that he had probably just totally freaked Hermione out with all his staring. He ran a hand threw his hair and grabbed for a large book on the shelf. "Well, we've tried a few, but we must be doing the incantation wrong or something, or the wand movement. Would..would you mind giving it a try?" Fred opened the book and slid his chair over closer to HErmione to let her see. "We've been attempting this one...but with no luck, " he said pointing at it, trying to concentrate on the book, and not the fact that he had just moved his chair so close to Hermione that they were brushing sides with every movement. He hadn't meant to..it was just to show her the book, but he kept it where it was in order to not draw more attention to himself. Maybe Hermione wouldn't notice... |
Hermione tensed a little when she first felt Fred brushing against her, pointing to the incantation in the book. But, after she realized that they were so close, that they were going to end up touching each other in some way, her blood rushed to her cheeks and she tried to keep her eyes on the book. It felt as if a magnet were pulling her eyes to look at him, so close... Once she had registered what she was seeing in front of her, she tried the incantation, pointing her wand at the parchment and saying, "Purus salus." The parchment wiped half-way clean, showing only half of Diagon Alley. She looked to Fred, seeing what he would say. |
Fred and Hermione left leaving Guin with people who seemed rather...died. Guin couldn't stand the quietness so she turned to them, "Well um thanks for the tea but I think I should go back to the Burrow...I'm getting quite tired after this long and umm interesting morning. So thanks again see you later!" She said as she got up and smiled as she made her way downstairs. Guin looked around the shop and heard voices in the back, Guin walked up and entered a room with many different instruments and such. She noticed Fred and Hermione in the back and before she knew it she accidently made something fall with a bang. "Ohh sorry!" She said as Fred jumped up. "I was just coming to say goodbye..." Guin looked at the mess and felt so bad, it probably could've been something important. |
"Not bad, Mioine! All George and I have managed is to set the thing on fire a few times. So at least we know this is the right charm. Me and George will keep working on it....We were wanting to market them...but we highly doubt the Ministry would let us...Um....Thanks a lot Hermione. I owe..well, we owe you one. " And Fred was considering giving Hermione a hug or something like that...when a loud crash made him jump. "GUIN!" He said rushing over to her.."Are you alright?" Fred felt his stomach give a jolt...Guin was standing right where he and George had spilled the FLesh-Eating solution. With panic clearly written on his face he called back to Hermione, "Um..Mione, I'll be right back..or maybe you should come.." and Fred grabbed Guin's hand and drug her out of the lab and towards the bathroom. He pulled her to the sink and started splashing her like mad with water, not bothering to explain why first. |
Hermione smiled as there was a brief moment of silence between the two of them before a loud crash diverted their attention and Fred ran to Guin. Hermione promptly followed, wanting to make sure she was alright. They arrived at the bathroom and Fred started to splash Guin spastically with water. Hermione watched, standing at the doorway. |
Before Guin had another word to say how sorry she was Fred dragged her to the bathroom and she was drenched in water from head to toe. Guin had no words as she sat in the sink with her hair all wet in front of her. "FRED!" She yelled as she looked at herself, "What in Merlins Beard are you doing!" She added as she smacked him over the head and looked at him confussed and furious. |
"OWW Guin! What....that hurt! " He said rubbing the back of his head. "You were standing in the exact spot George and I spilled some Flesh-eating stuff....I..I didn't want your skin to be eaten off! Sheesh...women," he said to himself. Fred was pretty wet himself from flinging water everywhere...as well as the rest of the bathroom. He took a few steps back away from Guin, to get out her arm-lengths and bumped into Hermione. He looked over his shoulder down at her, with a pleading look. She gave him a urging look, and Fred turned back to Guin. "Um...Guin. You just hang tight..I'll go fetch you a dry shirt or something..."and Fred threw her a towel and disappeared through a door. |
Hermione was left with Guin and she went over to her, leaning against the sink. Guin was trying to dry her hair with the towel as best as she could when Hermione used a drying charm on her hair for her. "He's so..." She tried to find a word to finish, "...Fred." She finished. |
Guin had no words for Fred and when he left it was a relief, "The nerve!" She said as she dryed her hair with a towel but then Hermione used a spell and it was dry in seconds. "Thank you..." She told Hermy as she got up from the sink. "Fred he is, and and...ahhh I just want to get out of here and far away from him and his brother!" Guin ranted as she began to calm down a bit but didn't seem to work. "Well...in all my life I have never!..." She had no more words, the day had turned into one chaos after another. Sighing she stood and waited for a shirt so that she could leave this place. |
