"What?" Ginny said, her tone implying that she felt this was some sort of horrible joke. "No... NO! What are you talking about? I just saw her yesterday. She was fine. They can't... why would anyone want to kill Luna?" Ginny's eyes filled with tears as her hand went to her mouth, and George moved to stroke her hair hesitantly. |
Dumbledore waited a few moments, allowing her brothers to move in to support her. He looked from one to the other, knowing what he was about to say would be new to them all. "We have received intelligence that Voldemort is seeking to eliminate the young woman seen with Harry yesterday. His supporters have been watching the shop and knew that you were not at home last night," he said, continuing carefully. "Voldemort will be rather displeased that his servants failed to kill the correct witch and will most assuredly make another attempt. We will need to get you, Harry, and anyone else living in this house out of harm's way before nightfall." |
"But Luna wasn't..." Ginny's eyes widened and she wiped her cheeks while the twins exchanged glances over her head. "They were trying to kill me? Why would Voldemort care about me in the least? I'm not a powerful witch. I work in a joke shop run by my two reprobate brothers. I'm certainly not a threat." She rose from her seat, but she still felt very small and very useless. "You're taking the twins and Neville too? Where are we going?" |
"Yes, Neville, and the twins, too," he replied. "We will be utilizing the headquarters once again. Now, I know this is difficult, but you need to get your things packed. I will personally escort you all the Grimmauld Place. |
Ginny didn't move. "I'm not going. I don't want to go," Ginny said, as George tugged gently on her arm. "I don't understand why I have to go. Will someone explain it to me? I didn't do anything. I'm nobody!" She put her head in her hands and began to cry. She was the reason Luna was dead, but Ginny didn't even understand what had happened. |
Dumbledore knelt down in front of the youngest Weasley and put his arms around her. "Shhh," he shushed her quietly, as a grandfather would calm a fretting child. He held her for a few moments, patting the back of her head as she sobbed into his shoulder. "You are special to Harry and Voldemort wishes to take you from him. We need to get you someplace safe. Your mother is beside herself with worry, I'm sure and she and your father will also be preparing to move to Grimmauld place for a time," he said and then, pulling away, he gave her a small smile and looked between the Weasley siblings. "Now, gather your things and we can be on our way. There will be time for grief once everyone is safe." |
Ginny nodded obediently and rose from the low chair, letting herself be pulled into a more full embrace by Dumbledore. It still didn't make perfect sense to her, but she was willing to go if it meant she, her family, and Harry would be safe. The twins, seeing that Ginny was making headway, disappeared into their room to pack. Ginny felt numb as she moved to the door to the landing, but she turned to face Dumbledore. "Sir," she hesitated. "Where is Luna's body?" |
Dumbledore stood and waited for the Weasley children to gather their things when Ginny turned back, her eyes full of concern. "It is safe," he said and continued, knowing his answer wouldn't be enough to pacify the distraught young witch. "Her father will be making the appropriate arrangements. I believe she is to be buried with her mother. Now, hurry along and we can discourse once we've reached safety." |
Elizabeth turned to Ron. "No thanks, i'm exhausted. I'm just going to go to bed. See you tomorrow morning" And with that, Elizabeth climbed the stairs and slept in Ginny's old bedroom. She woke up early the next morning and went downstairs to the kitchen. She saw Mr and Mrs Weasley looking upset and Worried. She sat down and said to them "What's wrong?" |
Ginny nodded her head and turned back to the door, exiting silently. Once in the flat, she entered her room and began to dump her clothing back into the trunk. Her mind wasn't on her work, but soon her drawers were empty and her owl and broom were set neatly on top. Ginny shrunk them, then pocketed them, glad her owl was out on some excursion or another and not there to bother with. Leaving the bedroom, Ginny avoided looking at the door to Luna's room, which stood open. Instead, she entered the kitchen and began to repack the pots and food they had so recently stocked. Who knew if anyone had thought to stock Grimmauld at this point? It didn't hurt to have some extra, considering the way Ron and the twins ate. Ginny wasn't even sure how many people would be there but... she shook her head and realized her mind was trying to keep busy with inconsequentials so it wouldn't have to think about dear, quirky Luna. Hurriedly, she finished packing and recrossed the hall to Dumbledore and the waiting twins. |
Molly looked up from her position at the table, taking in Elizabeth's lovely innocent face. She squeezed Arthur's hand, needing his comfort. "I'm sorry to tell you this, dear, but a friend of the family has died. Her name was Luna Lovegood, and I'm not certain if you ever had the opportunity to meet her. Apparently her death was some sort of plot by the Death Eaters and Dumbledore believes we are all in danger. He wants us to move to a different place. I know you wanted to go home, dear, but Dumbledore wants you to stay with us. He thinks you might be a target as well." |
Elizabeth's face dropped. "Yes, I knew her, but only a little - Harry used to speak of her a bit, and i saw her around work. Of course I'll stay with you all, if dumbledore requests it - where are we going?" |
Ron descend from the second floor. He saw Elizabeth talking to his mother. He passed them by, quite lonely, going towards the living room. When he heard the news early that day from his parents, he was devastated. Even though he and Luna was not close like that of Ginny's and hers, he was still concerned about her. He sat down on the couch covered with knitted cloth, sighing. |
Molly bit her lip. She wasn't the secret keeper and Dumbledore had said he'd meet them there. "We're going to the headquarters for the Order, but I can't really tell you more until we get there and you see it yourself. Please go pack." Molly hefted herself to her feet and received another pat from Arthur before he let go of her hand. "I need to tell Ron to get ready." |
Ron heard faint footsteps behind him. He inhaled and turned his head around, finding out that it was his mother. He stood up and looked at her. He wanted to hug her but it seemed that he can not feel his legs. Instead walking towards her, he looked at the floor, feeling a littl e bit depressed. |
Elizabeth followed Mrs Weasley out into the lounge, where she saw Ron, looking upset. She walked over to him and gave him a hug. "It'll be okay Ron - I'm here for you" |
Ron was surprised that Elizabeth hugged him suddenly. He wanted to get away but he did not have the power to get away from her arms. He sighed and hugged her back. |
Molly waited while Elizabeth offered her youngest son a hug. When the two parted, Molly pulled Ron into a hug as well. He was always one to mask his emotions, but she could read him fairly well. "Ron, dear, if you could go pack, we need to get to Headquarters quickly." |
Ron smiled and nodded at her mother. Leaving the room, the depressed feeling seemed to vanished every second, every minute. He ascend to the stairs, going to his room. After packing, he went down and saw his parents and Elizabeth all dressed up. |
Elizabeth had stuffed all the things she had left at the weasley's into one small bag, and stood with Mr and Mrs Weasley waiting for Ron. She felt a bit bad about the impulsive hug she had given him before, but that was her solution to most problems, hugs. She also wished that she had time to get more of her things from her flat. She saw Ron descending the stairs and remembered her request yesterday to borrow Pig to send a letter to her parents. "Ron, is it still okay if i borrow Pig? i should really let my parents know what's happening." |
"Huh?" Ron looked at Elizabeth. "Of course, wait." He put down his bag beside the stairs and went back to his room. Opening his door, he rushed towards his pet's cage. He unlocked it and grasped gently Pig. He made a loud of noise as Ron ran down. At last, he gave his owl to Elizabeth. |
Molly left Ron and Elizabeth with their trunks in the foyer as she rushed back upstairs. Poking her head into Ginny's room, she spotted Guin curled up on the foldaway bed in the corner. Molly shook her awake before rushing off to do the same to Bill. Bill willingly rolled out of bed and started packing, but Guin hadn't moved. "Guin!" Molly shook the girl again. Guin rolled over and blinked. Molly gave a condensed version of events before adding, "You can return to your family, but I think it best if you come with us. You and Elizabeth can bunk with Ginny and Hermione. It'll be a tight fit, but I don't want us to get hurt. Its your decision. You were spotted on that street yesterday with Harry as well, so I think you may want to come with us." |
Fred had gathered all the necessary things: his new neon bowler, an extra pair or two of extendable ears, extendable eyes, a picture of himself and George after their first successful day of the Joke Shop, a few other of his and George's new inventions. He looked around the room thinking that he had everything he needed, then spotted the clothes he had thrown out the drawers the previous day. He nodded to himself and thought, "Clothes..yeah, I'll guess I should pack a few of those." And he threw a few outfits on top of his trunk. Fred peeped into George's trunk, an like himself, he had packed a lot more "stuff" than clothes too. They both pulled their trunks out into the living room and waited on Ginny. After she reentered the room, Fred went and grabbed her trunk and put an arm around her. Dumbledore pulled out an old sneaker, turned it into a portkey, and they all reappeared on the street in front of Grimmauld. |
Dumbledore opened the door to Grimmauld Place and gestured the Weasleys inside as his eyes darted around the street. Once they were all safely inside, he crossed the threshold and shut the door. "Once you've settled your things, I'll be waiting for you in the drawing room," he said, before walking down the hallway and disappearing behind a door. |
Ginny stood looking so lost that George propelled her up the stairs ahead of himself and Fred. At the top, he pushed her towards her old room before the two of them continued up another flight of steps. Entering the room, George tossed his trunk on one of the beds and turned to his twin expectantly, knowing the other redhead would speak his mind soon enough. Ginny stepped into the room and looked about in confusion. There were extra beds in here. It didn't faze her for long, however, as she set about putting her clothes away quickly. It didn't take long, as soon she was folding and refolding all of the clothes just put away. Finally, she couldn't put it off any longer and she went downstairs to the drawing room, where Dumbledore waited. |
