Tonks felt her knees bend and she wavered on the brink of falling over at George had spun her around and was now holding her up. "I was only teasing," she said, waving her free arm about as if to grab hold of something to gain more stability. |
"Okay, then," George released her and she fell backwards onto Dani's bed. He spun and walked into Sinistra's room, unsure of why he was feeling like his insides were coiled tight. It bothered him more than he could say that Tonks might view him as one of the children to watch instead of as a peer in this fight. |
Ginny tucked her head against Harry's shoulder. "I think he would be in the way all the time. Perhaps we'd better just live by ourselves with a few house elves around to make sure I'm doing my cleaning charms right. Or we don't even have to have a house elf. I've done without for my whole life. I just... I thought it might be nice to bring Dobby in. He would leave the twins' shop in a second." |
Harry smiled. "That's a good idea. Dobby would be perfect. So it ould be you, me, our two or three beautiful children, our house elf Dobby... what about a pet? Maybe buckbeak could come live with us. Or we could get something else... a puffskein, maybe. I hear they're pretty cute," He said. |
Tonks felt the air forced out of her as she fell onto the small bed. By the time she had gotten her feet back underneath her, George had left. What was that all about? She shrugged and followed after him. "Find anything intereting?" she asked, walking over to the desk. |
"No," George admitted. The room was pretty much as he'd envisioned it, full of star charts and equipment. It was remarkably more feminine then he would have imagined considering how no-nonsense Sinistra was. "Its kind of... girly in here." |
Tonks giggled. "It is rather funny. I never pegged Sinistra as the 'girly' type, especially not after learning about her relationship with the good potions master. Never knew Snape would go for that kind of girl, though I suppose it shouldn't surprise me." |
George eyed Tonks out of the corner of his eye. "What kind of girl would a Snape go for? Someone as dark and creepy as him would be completely unattractive. Its just a shame that a woman as fine and lovely as Sinistra is wasted on a man like that." |
"I think it's kind of cute," she shrugged and moved away from the desk toward the door. "I wonder why Dani doesn't have any toys? Maybe we should get her some..." |
"She used to have some toys, if I recall," George shrugged again. "She packed them instead of clothes and left them all at Grimmauld. But she's only just come to live with her mother and didn't have many toys to speak of before. I think it would be a nice thing to spoil a child like Dani." |
"There's just one problem... We really shouldn't be wandering about," Tonks sighed and began to leave the room. It would be nice to go out and get Dani a bunch of toys and leave them on ehr bed as a surprise for her... |
George thought about Tonks' reply as he followed her out. She was right, of course, but... the Weasley in him wanted to do something generous for the little girl and wanted to do something extravagent to go about it. "You know, this is a whole wide world we're in, and it seems impossible to me that we'd be in danger no matter where we went. For example, there's a huge toy store in Muggle New York City, and I'm sure He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has never taken in that fair town. You don't suppose we could just go somewhere... other than where they'd suspect?" |
"We.... could..." Tonks said, carefully, thinking about it. "But, how would we get there? It's too far to apparate, it would take forever to get there my broomstick, and we don't have an authorized port key... I suppose we could take muggle transportation but, then we'd need to explain where we disappeared to for two days." |
George whistled innocently as they walked before finally speaking up. "Fred and I have a portkey we use to travel when we are buying stock for the store. It isn't exactly authorized, but I don't see why that should start bothering us at this point. I just can't stand that we don't get to leave here, but they say that we're responsible adults." |
"You know I could arrest you for that," Tonks said, raising an eyebrow, though her eyes glinted of mischief. "Where is this portkey of yours, anyway?" |
George made a face. "On my keychain. In my pajama pants. Which are currently being worn by Fred. We'll have to go and tell Fred what we're doing, I suppose." |
"Oh... Hmm... Well, then I guess we could do that. Or we could just make a new one if we wanted to keep it a secret. Besides, I don't know how we'd find him in this castle." |
"Well, I can find him anywhere in the castle, but I don't need to use that trick at this point. Do you know the charm?" |
"Do I know the charm? Yes, of course I do," Tonks said, biting the edge of her lip a little and looking around. "We just need to find something to use..." |

"Right..," Fred said, wanting to hit himself for even considering having Hermione carry him. "If I don't make it," he put on a solemn face,"then you remember this face." He looked up and crossed his eyes and looked like a fool. He laughed and tried out the next step.. "Yea!" he said, taking another step, then another, each just as solid as the next. Holding on the railings for dear life with each new step, he finally made it. Fred was one step away, and he jumped just in case the stairs decided to change their mind about him. Oh the landing, he grabbed Hermione up and spun her around. "I'm here for my grand tour. Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long. Will there be refreshments durning the tour?" Fred giggled at himself, and took up Hermione's hand, waiting for her to show him around the forbidden area known as 'the girls' dorm.' |
George eyed the room specutively. "Well, let's pick something she won't miss. That leaves out any parchments, charts, or telescopes. It would have been brilliant to use a telescope though." He shook off the disappointment and picked up a quill. "I misplace quills all the time. Bet she doesn't even know its gone." |
Tonks looked at the quill and couldn't believe she was actually considering this. But, what the hey, she'd been acting mature (or at least trying to) for far too long. She took the quill from George and put it back on the desk, between them and pointed her wand at the quill. She concentrated very hard on her incantation and said, "Portus." Nothing appeared to happen but, she smiled and looked up at George. "On the count of three, then?" |
Hermione laughed. "Not unless you can magic some up yourself. Or unless the girls forgot to clean out their chocolate stash they hid at the end of seventh year," She said, leading him into the dorm. They walked in and it appeared lonely and empty to Hermione; it was barren of all the posters and the clothes that were usually strewn across the floor. She took a seat on the bed that she had occupied during sventh year and gestured with her hand to the rest of the room. "This... is the girls' dorm," She said. She got up and pointed to the beds, "These are where we would sleep... and this is where Paravati and Lavender would hang their posters of whichever good-looking quidditch player was in that month," she said, gesturing towards the walls. "Oh, and this..." She ran over to the window, "Is the window. Amazing, right?" |
"Harry!" Ginny swatted at Harry half-heartedly without opening her eyes. "A hippogriff is NOT an appropriate pet for a family with children. He'll have to stay outside, at least. As for other pets... puffskeins are cute enough. Dead boring when it comes to doing tricks. I've always wanted a kneazle, though. A tabby one." |
"Okay, then we can get a kneazle. Whatever you'd like, Gin," Harry said. "This is getting boring... want to go explore the castle or something," He asked. |
