-Entry Five-

Hugo Jermaine Woods is my love, plain and simple. He is the only boy I have never had a problem giving my heart to. He is my best friend. My confidant. In short, I adore him.

I once thought my feelings for him ran deeper than friendship, thank goodness that was just a short time. I don't want to begin to imagine how combustible a romantic encounter with him that would have been, even if he is almost as good looking as me.

Anyway, now that you are all introduced, it is time to tell you what happened at Mother's party last night.

Every summer, Mother throws a lavish party at our summer house by the lake. She says that it is simply a nice get together for friends, but I know the real reason is she likes to show off the family monies. Old money, but money, and lots of it, none the less.

I was supposed to be watching Tabatha and Curtis with Tavie, but of course, I skipped out on her as soon as Hugo arrived. I was not about to waste the night chasing after sticky, annoying children when I could be causing trouble with my best friend. Pfft.

It's weird, ever since we were babies, everyone has had this preconceived notion that Hugo and I will one day wake up and find ourselves head over heels in love.

First of all. There is no such thing as love at first sight. There is however, lust at first sight, but we wont get into that. Love takes time, you have to know the person, trust the person before you can actually "fall" in love.

Second, have you ever wondered why they call it falling? Cause if no one is there to catch you. You land flat on your face. Love hurts.

AH! I am getting distracted again. I do not know what is wrong with me tonight, maybe it is the fact that my poor brain has jumped from one topic to another, trying to keep Hugo occupied so that he wouldn't pick up on anything I did not want him to.

He had quite a knack for that, poking his nose in whenever he sensed his Lettie Loo was in trouble. Whether I want his help or not, he always gives it. Ugh. Men.

Hugo and I were sneaking into the house to find some ice cream, when my crazy uncle Josiah blocked the way. Uncle Josiah thinks that Hugo is my brother Alexander, who recently got engaged to his girlfriend Emmaline. I don't really know why Uncle Josiah is so..... the way he is, the story has been forbidden in our house. Although, I am close to getting it out of Dominik.

"Ah, theres the happy couple!" he declared, clapping his rather large hands together. Hugo, of course, milked it. Any chance to be the center of attention, he jumped at. I don't blame him actually, isn't that what the beautiful people are for? The center of attention?

Hugo slid his arm around my shoulders and smirked, "Yes sir, we couldn't be happier. Isn't that right lovekins?" he asked, looking to me. I wanted to puke. Lovekins? Where in the world did he come up with these things?

Uncle Josiah seemed to buy it though, which, given the circumstances, is not surprising. "Here." he said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a good sized, draw-string bag, dropping it into my hand. There had to be hundreds of gold pieces in there, because the impact of the satchel almost snapped my arm in half.

"You buy her something nice." Uncle Josiah ordered to Hugo, pointing a chubby finger in my direction, and then suddenly walking away. We burst out in laughter as soon as he was far enough not to hear us. Hugo took the bag in his hand and smirked, "Easiest money I've ever made." he said.

I pressed my lips together tightly to keep from smirking, "Except you have to spend it all on me." I reminded him, shrugging his arm off of my shoulder.

"Pft. I don't think so Lettie Loo. The man gave the money to me."

I gasped, "He did not! Besides, he is my uncle." I informed him, reaching out to swipe the bag away from him, but he moved it. "Give me the money." I ordered, holding out my hand.

Hugo looked from the bag, to me, and then to the bag again, at first, I wasn't sure what to think. "All right." he said finally, and then moved his hand only slightly, "But you will have to catch me first." he added quickly. Then the oaf stashed the bag in his pocket and started running off for dear life.

-Entry Six-

{Cale/Anna}

Diagon Alley was crawling with boys. Short ones, tall ones, foolish ones, annoying ones, and of course, gorgeous ones.

All I can say for those boys, is it was a lucky day for them when Evolette McKenna walked into their lives.

But of course, the first one I attracted was a clumsy boy. It seems I had to start low and work up today.

It seems that he tripped over his own feet the very moment that I stepped onto the street, no doubt distracted by my beauty.

He collided right with me, spilling his butterbeer all down my beautiful pink skirt. I would have yelled at him, I should have yelled at him, that skirt was practically new! Mother had only just bought it in Paris last week!

Anyway, the reason why I did not yell at him, was obviously, because he was cute. Beyond cute, as in simply adorable. He had the most adorable curly hair that made my fingers just itch in anticipation, but I restrained myself, how odd would that have been?

He quickly apologized profusely, and I put on my most charming smile, assuring him that it was perfectly fine, and clothes did dry.

Only then did I notice his little girlfriend, looking very cross as I worked my charm, not that I blame her, if a girl as beautiful as I had started flirting with my boyfriend, I would have jumped on her right then and there.

But, it turns out she had no reason to be so worried, this boy was OBLIVIOUS. No matter what I did, or what I said, he didn’t catch on to the fact that I was trying to flirt with him.

{Hugo/Terry}

That was when I saw him. HIM! My love, my best friend. My very own Hugo! Oh how I simply adore that boy. He makes my heart all bouncy and giddy, as if I were a little school girl with tight curls and a white smock.

I excused myself, naturally as politely as possible and made a beeline for the beautiful blonde boy, who happens to be the only person I would ever consider as beautiful as myself.

I called out his name, sure that everyone around me had jumped by the suddenness of it, and he turned around, spotting me over the crowd.

The next thing I knew, he was jumping into my arms, wrapping his legs around my waist and digging his heels into my bottom. Hugo is not really a heavy boy, he’s very thin like me, but still, he weighed a lot more than I usually carry.

Not that I could not support him, on the contrary, I held firm, managing to hold not only myself, but him for about four seconds, and then I dropped him to the ground. He, of course, landed on his feet, I suspect it is because he is so graceful. I couldn’t be more proud of him actually, I have been trying to teach him to move more fluidly, and I am glad to see the fruits of my labor.

We barely got to talking when suddenly, someone else called out to him. UGH. You have no idea how annoyed I was. But never in a million, billion, trillion, gajillion years would have guessed who I would see when I looked over Hugie’s shoulder.

Terry Saunders.

I know right? Terry Saunders. TERRY SAUNDERS. The boy I have spent the better half of my existence trying to forget. The boy that I had hurt immeasurably, with one simple action. Now we were standing face to face, but this time, there was nowhere for me to run.

Needless to say, he was pretty angry with me, and it took all that I had to keep my place and not run and hide behind Hugo - a lot of good that would have done - because apparently, Hugo and Terry know each other.

How do I know this? Well you see it was a little obvious when Hugo decided to throw himself onto Terry, interrupting the very interesting squabble we were having.

I know, I know, the way I have been acting about the whole thing makes you think that I really don’t care about seeing him again, but you have no idea what it did to me.

I won’t write about it much now, maybe later, when it won’t hurt so much.

So, all you need to know right now is Hugo and Terry are best friends, and Hugo is claiming to know everything about the summer we spent together.

I am not even going to begin to get into what exactly everything means, because if anyone gets their hands on this book ever, I do not want them to read it.

Let’s just say that everything is more than just dating. That’s all you need to know.

{Miles/Nico}

After this, I went into the Leaky Cauldron where I saw my other best friend Miles Parker. I couldn’t believe it! There I was thinking that I was going to Diagon Alley without my boys and be all by myself, and suddenly both of my very best friends were appearing!

It was like Christmas had come early.

Miles introduced me to his friends, who were, much to my shock, both girls. Miles had always been a little bit different than Hugo and I when it came to members of the opposite sex. I could always see him as the one who would settle into a real relationship with someone before either one of us did.

But so far, no mention of my Miles having a girlfriend. But if he does, the poor girl had better be ready for a thorough inspection, because not just any girl is good enough for him.

While I was getting to know these girls, a strange boy came up to us, and he knew my name. It was very odd because I had never met him before. He was a little creeper and he wanted to sit with us.

Um, no!

Well, I asked him who he was, and he got all huffy, throwing a drama queen fit and stomping off to a table a bit away from ours.

Then suddenly, he charmed a bottle of butterbeer and poured it over my head! Just because I didn’t want a creepy little stalker sitting with me. The nerve.

Unfortunately, I was hugging Miles at the time and some of the butterbeer landed on his lovely green shirt.

My poor Miles.

Then I noticed this boy sitting across from us, he very obviously wanted me to come over, so I excused myself and granted his request. Nicholai Toussaint, that was his name, and it turns out, he’s pretty much a male version of me.

He even pulled the cutest line on me, about bunny rabbits. Oh dear, I swear if I had not been more guarded than other girls, I would have melted on the spot.

Anyway, suddenly this crazy Hufflepuff girl came in and hit him with her bag. He told me all about this girl who he had hurt, and that crazy girl was her best friend.

I thought we could have some fun, so I held my hand out for him and he took it. Then I leaned in closer to whisper to him, looking like I was saying something very important when all of the sudden, crazy girl rips him up by the back of his shirt and drags him outside.

Of course I followed, to see if I could be of any help, but I wasn’t able to hear anything of importance.

{Cale/Anna}

I saw dear Cale again, the boy who had spilled butterbeer on my skirt. I had just had a very interesting conversation with this boy named Dominic, who for some reason, thought he could see right through me. Pfft. Like anyone could possibly see through me.

Anyway, I instantly poured on the charm, but he was totally oblivious to it all! UGH! You have no idea how hard it is to flirt with someone without getting some kind of rise out of them. I don’t even know why I kept trying, but finally I got success.

He was telling me all about how yummy his jelly slug ice cream was, but I didn’t believe him, so he offered me a taste, but instead of simply handing me the spoon, Mr. Newell fed me the ice cream. Oh yeah, I’m totally serious. It would have been a super cute moment if a) I liked him like that b) he would have realized what he was doing.

But, alas, our conversation was interrupted when Cale’s girlfriend Anna somethingorother saw us through the window. Bwaha.

So, Cale ran out after her and they ended up in this huge fight right in the middle of the street. It was fabulous. You know how I feed off of drama.

Of course, I felt a little bad for being the one to cause all of this drama, but if I can’t be happy with Terry, why should anyone else be allowed to have love?

-Entry Seven-

Hugo and I made a pact when we were little that we would always be each other’s best friend. Well, that only lasted a few days, because the next thing I knew, Hugie brought a little boy to our weekly play date. Miles Parker.

At first, I was extremely jealous, as I have and probably always will be when Hugo gives more attention to another person than me, and dear Miles was so shy that first day, I must admit I was a bit mean to him.

Hugie’s mum had to pick him up early, and Miles and I were left to play in the nursery alone. At first, I was anxious, because well, I missed Hugie and I wanted him to come back.

But, as the afternoon carried on, I began to develop a special liking for that boy, the way he let me change his hair to how I wanted it to look, and boss him around a bit, I quite liked being in charge.

Of course now he is one of my best friends, and of course, he doesn’t let me boss him around as much, but I wouldn’t change him for the world.

Besides Hugo, Miles is my best friend. I know that he knows me, my faults -which are few and far between- and my perks, and he loves me just the same.

Plus my little sister totally has a crush on him, it's so cute!

Flirting 101

1) Your first objective when flirting is to make the subject blush. If you can not do this, then you fail. You fail at everything, you might as well dig a hole and stick your head in, because your goose is cooked.

2) Then, once you have got him hooked, leave. But do it in a memorable way. Men are like children, if you give a child some candy, and then keep the rest back, they will do anything you wish. Men are the same way, they like to think they are smarter than they are, but we know better. Always leave them wanting more.

3) If you are ugly, forget about it. Ugly girls do not get far in life. They are the ones who are condemmed to a life in the library, hidden behind their books and their many, many cats. However, just because you should not flirt, does not mean you won't find someone eventually, there are plenty of ugly men out there ready to settle with you after getting rejected by the beautiful.

4) Be coy, be smart, be sly, be rude if you have to. Whatever clicks in his brain and makes him want to stick around with you, go for it. Quidditch, school, food, muggle things, bugs, books, anything and everything. A good flirt is well versed in many subjects. If you should come across a topic you do not know, listen closely, hang on his every word and always look adorable.

5) Note this: You will never be as good as I am. So don't even bother to try, you will just get burned out. Some people are born with the insane ability to make anyone, anywhere want to be them, I am one of those lucky people, and you privileged to know me.

-Entry Nine-

Summer is the best time for shameless flirting. The sun seems to do something to the brains of the male species, it wakes them up, and sometimes makes them act less stupid.

If you’re lucky, you click with one. You go on a few dates with him and then that’s it; the summer is over, and everything goes back to normal.

Some of us get even luckier than lucky, some, like me, meet someone really special. But, fortunately for them, they don’t run away like I did.

I know I have already explained my reason for leaving to you, but you can not imagine the way I felt when I saw him in the middle of Diagon Alley. The whole summer literally flashed before my eyes in a torrent of colors, and before I knew it, I wanted to run away again.

But somewhere, deep down, after the initial shouting match, I knew that I had to fess up to what I did. I couldn’t let more time go by where I hurt him any longer.

Luck was on my side, as usual I might add, because he agreed to go somewhere with me, somewhere away from Hugo and his childlike behavior, somewhere where we could talk, alone.

That somewhere turned out to be a back table in the Leaky Cauldron, where I explained everything I was thinking and feeling to him. We had a very rocky start, and I was worried for a while, that this was some kind of mistake, that the reason why we weren’t together is because we could never make it as a couple.

Then, something happened, it was like a bolt of electricity had shot down from the sky and hit him straight on. He started fighting for me, for our relationship.

Normally this would be the time where I would say something smart, like “who wouldn’t fight for me?” but I’m really not in the mood to be so stuck up.

He told me about the most adorable thing anyone has ever said to me, he told me that he wanted me. Evolette McKenna. The girl who left him without a word and broke his heart. He still loved her, and he still wanted to be with her.

Am I deserving of this? Of course I’m not. I never will be, no matter what I do to make up to him, I will never be able to change what I did. That was when the best thing ever happened, I mean best ever. Top five, one notch down from my birth.

He took me back.

Granted we still have issues to work through, but what relationship doesn’t? I know it’s going to be hard for him to reign in on his flirting, as it will be for me, but I think we can do it.
