[img]http://www.snitchseeker.com/images/news/harry_hedwig_80.jpg' align='middle'> 'Wolf Brother' to be series like 'Harry Potter' - earlier novel compared to Potter books Summary:
Originally written over 20 years ago by author Michelle Paver, Wolf Brother is being released worldwide, with sales of its publishing rights totaling $5 million USD. Article: 'Wolf Brother' to be series like 'Harry Potter'
Set in prehistoric times, a fantasy book about a boy hunter who befriends a wolf cub is already being compared to JK Rowling's Harry Potter series. Originally written over 20 years ago by author Michelle Paver, Wolf Brother is being released worldwide, with sales of its publishing rights totaling $5 million USD. In contrast, the rights to Rowling's first Potter novel were purchased by Scholastic for only $105,000, according to Forbes.
Paver is turning the book into a series with the hope of duplicating Rowling's success with Potter, which has spawned three hugely successful movies and made Rowling the first billionaire author. Quote: "There has been amazing interest in this book, but it touches a nerve," Cox said.
"We have sold the rights all around the world, including the likes of America and Japan, but even in countries like Iceland, where there is only one publishing house, and France, where it is very difficult for an English book on its debut," he said. Quote: It was first drafted in 1982 while at university, but left it unfinished.
But last year, having established herself as an author of love stories, she came across the manuscript and decided to turn it into a children's novel. Quote: "Wolf Brother" tells the story of a 12-year-old boy living 6,000 years ago, who teams up with an orphaned wolf cub after his father is killed, with the pair trying to rid their native forest of an evil force.
Paver researched the book, described by her agent as "very, very tough and gritty", by staying with nomadic tribesmen in Finland, Lapland and Greenland. Source: Yahoo News via HPANA. |

It sounds like a good story yes, but I dont think that I would read it. It doesn't sound like Harry Potter in the fact that HP is for everyone of all ages and this book kinda sounds like a childrens or teen book, nothing young adults or even adults would read, just my opinion.

That actually sounds like an interesting book, so I might have to check it out at some point. Although, if every book that was supposed to be the 'new Harry Potter' was, I'd belong to at least fifty other message boards, and have a book collection to rival the Library of Congress.

Sadly, that book doesnt seem a bit interesting to me... And I don't really see the comparison... Harry Potter has a lot more substance, and deepness.. At least for me, HP means a lot more than the Wold Brother book seems to have... So that is why, I don't see them being similar. Sure, you could compare the number of copies sold... or maybe they are both children's books (I have no idea)?
But being sold or not does not say that a book is good. Just that people bought it. You have no way of knowing if it's a good book or not.
And I'm not really interested in finding out about that Wolf Brother book.
But, for whoever is, I encourage you fullheartedly to go and read it |

it doesnt sound too bad but theres no way it can even compare to hp, it even says in the article that the author hopes to duplicate the success of jo rowling so basically the author is just a jkr wannabe

The comparison being made, if you read the article, is that both are books following children through struggles with the use of a series.

| Truthfully i dont read many other books apart from Harry Potter but this book sounds pretty interesting. I may give it a try when it is published. Although i always keep in my head when i read other books that they are not as great as Harry Potter books. |
