| | | WB CEO admits 3 'Fantastic Beasts' movies planned, J.K. Rowling comments on deal
Kevin Tsujihara, C.E.O. of Warner Bros., recently spoke to the NY Times about some of his riskier moves with features, and admitted that there will be three Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films, as part of a new major franchise. J.K. Rowling even commented and stated how Tsujihara convinced her to write for the movies again, as she is now the feature's screenwriter. Harry Potter films' head David Heyman, pictured with Tsujihara below, will be back to producing the series. Quote:
That is when Warner announced that Ms. Rowling had agreed to adapt for the big screen her “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” a 2001 book billed as one of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbooks. Three megamovies are planned. The main character will be a “magizoologist” named Newt Scamander. The stories, neither prequels or sequels, will start in New York about seven decades before the arrival of Mr. Potter and his pals.
Convincing the famously independent Ms. Rowling to dive back into film was a coup. “When I say he made ‘Fantastic Beasts’ happen, it isn’t P.R.-speak but the literal truth,” Ms. Rowling said in response to emailed questions. “We had one dinner, a follow-up telephone call, and then I got out the rough draft that I’d thought was going to be an interesting bit of memorabilia for my kids and started rewriting!”
She added, “When Kevin got the top job, he brought a new energy, which rubbed off. He’s a very engaging person, thoughtful and funny.”
Still no word yet on when the first of the three will be filmed, or who has been cast as Newt Scamandar. |

This is awesome! Most of us were certain that it was the first of a series, but it's nice to see it confirmed.

This is so great! And I'm really glad David Heyman will be producing these films. I wonder when they'll exactly start!

Personally, I think this is really exciting (not just for the release of the movies) but for myself as well. Unfortunately, I didn't have any interest in Harry Potter when the films were releasing and I never went to a single cenima midnight premiere (or saw the movies at all). Finally , in 2012 I had managed to come across a film playing on the television and I grew in love immediately and I read the books and I've been a Potterhead since then...
I feel like I've been given a second chance... This time I may be able to go to see a film in the cinema, squeeee! I'm so excited!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Anna Mikeington | I honestly have mixed feelings about this. At one point, I am screaming "YEAAHAHEYAHEAYEAHYEAHEYAHEYAHEYAH! MORE FANTASTIC BEASTS MOVIES!" in my mind, but at the same time, the 3 movie idea is also making me a little uncertain. I mean, Deathly Hallows had a reason to be two movies because of the long book but the Hunger Games, and Twilight had only money as their reason for both movies. I just hope that the three movies will not ruin the experience. |

I have mixed feelings too. Not to mention the fact that Deathly Hallows was two movies and even then they managed to ruin the whole book, but anyway, I suppose WB needs money.

I am thoroughly looking forward to this. But if they screw up, they're going to have an angry mob of Harry Potter fans to hear from! |

These two-movie deals are getting frustrating because it isn't for plot convenience, it's for the money. However, I want to say I trust Rowling because she hasn't let us down so far. After all she is Queen Rowling. Hopefully there is a wonderful plot to accompany the three movie deal.
