The city-based writer has agreed to give a public reading of her latest book as part of the Edinburgh Book Festival.*

Demand for tickets for next month’s event, at which Ms Rowling will answer questions from fans, was expected to be so great that a ballot is being organised.*

Fans can log on to Bloomsbury for a chance to be included in the ballot.*

Ms Rowling said: "I will be reading and answering questions at the Edinburgh Book Festival on August 15. This will be my fifth appearance at the festival.*

"I am looking forward to this event very much, because there will be a relatively small audience, which means I can see faces and take questions directly from the fans."

Just three days after the author’s appearance was announced, more than 9000 people have already asked for an application form. The appearance in Edinburgh will be the author’s first public reading for four years, and is to be her only book event this year. Only 500 tickets are available for the reading, but tens of thousands of entries are expected.

i sent my 2 cheques and ballot forms of yesterday, iv i win il have to get a hour flight there, but worth it!! i live near london, so fingers crossed!!
You do know it's not in London right? Lol Edinburgh is in Scotland. And you can only send one application form.

That idea might work Will but for security reasons they have to have the real names on the forms and you're only allowed to enter a name once. Good idea though.

My question on Snape, which I don't think she'd answer, but is worth a shot, is why aren't we supposed to feel too sorry for Snape. Is it because he's murdered in the past. (I think if that's the answer, well that's plainly obvious, him having been a DE once so I have already accepted that fact and would still be willing to love him .

I also would ask her if when she says no to Voldemort, does she mean Tom Riddle also, just to get rid of annoying rumors. I also want to ask her if Luna is going to become a key character in the last two books.

I'm sure there are a few others but I'll have to narrow it down as with 500 people there, I think she'll only take one question each. I probably wont even get it.
