* Sotheby's to Auction Potter Portraits and Items - in London Summary:
Sotheby's are set to auction off more very rare Potter items. Article: Sotheby's to Auction Potter Portraits and Items TLC reports: Quote: Sotheby's in London today will auction Harry Potter items, including two preliminary drawings by Giles Greenfield for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (lots 364 (drawing of Harry and what looks to be Buckbeak), 373 (a pencil sketch of Fawkes) Quote: This preliminary pencil sketch for the upper cover includes partially erased notes by the artist ("I have eliminated the comb... but I have kept the comb on top of the head the same as before... ...it is in keeping with the six feathers in the tail which I intended to render in bright yellow / orange to make them look like flames...") and 374). This is the colour version of the previous picture. Quote: The artist notes that this watercolour was what he was working on when the job was abandoned, and it was originally intended as the final artwork. Sotheby's site notes that the artist, whose artwork was used in the U.K. for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, was initially commissioned by Bloomsbury to provide original artwork for the dust-jacket of book five. Mr. Greenfield had to abandon his work, however, when his daughter was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a terminal genetic condition.
Other items for auction included signed editions and proof copies of the books. Source: TLC. |

*saves to Pictures* I love them all. But also the one with Haryr an Buckbeak does look really weird. Maybe it's because it's not how I pictured him or how the movie potrayed him.

I love the Fawkes the Phoenix picture! I think it's so well done. I think the Harry and Buckbeak looks weird, maybe because Buckbeak isn't what I imagined. The Buckbeak I imagined and then saw in the movie is much better; it's prettier!

I love the Fawkes sketch its great. I wouldn't pay thousands of pounds for it though, I think printing it would be a cheaper idea! |
