Interviewer: She is and so is he. That is a look at a fine new film called Driving Lessons, which is being screened at the Tribeca Film Festival. Rupert Grint stars in the film which is partially based on the life of writer and director who's sitting next to him, it's Jeremy Brock, and welcome to both of you.

Jeremy Brock: Thank you very much.

Rupert Grint: Yeah, thanks

Interviewer: Hey, Rupert you and I have met many times before on the junkets for the Harry Potter films, and that was literally your first big acting break. Since then, you've had many offers, I'm sure. What was it about this film that you said, "Now, I wanna do this."

RG: Um, I dunno, I mean I was filming the fourth one when I got the script through and I dunno I just really, really liked the script. It was just so different as well. It was nice to sort of be someone else, and I met Jeremy and I really, really liked him. It just sort of worked like that, yeah.

Interviewer: Jeremy, as we mentioned it's loosely based on experiences you've had; was it difficult to watch someone else sort of live your life as your filming?

JB: Hard to have a megastar, who's handsome, playing me? No. [laughter] It was very, very easy. No, it was fine, it was great. It was hard, but I was prepared for it.

Interviewer: [referring to clip playing in the background] We should mention that's the great Julie Walters from Educating Rita and many other fine films ...

JB: Absolutely

Interviewer: We haven't seen much of her and here she is in this thing; what a treat!

JB: Yup, she is fantastic, she is funny, and yet at the same time she is very, very moving, and she takes him on the journey.

Interviewer: [to Rupert] Yeah, there's a road trip you, you're learning how to drive, and this woman says "Get in the car, we're going - road trip!" [laughter]. And you're like "Okay ..." and the relationship between the two of you is amazing. Tell me about working with Julie, and sort of having her as someone to play off of, who's not a normal leading lady for someone your age.

RG: Sure, yeah, when I heard that Julie was gonna do it was really um...she was obviously Mrs. Weasley in the Harry Potter films, Ron's mom, and it was nice to already have that sort of friendly face on set cause it was quite sort of scary going into a new film set and she really helped with that; and she's just really funny in the film, she's brilliant, yeah.

Interviewer: Jeremy, is this guy as normal as he seems? For a big mega movie star who seems like the most unaffected and just normal guy...

JB: That is his charm. That is his charisma. He is completely normal. [laughter]

Interviewer: [to Rupert] Now it's up to you to screw it up. Grow up, and become a ... well you're here with Dad in the green room and you're just like a regular guy.

RG: Yeah, guess so.

[laughter]

JB: That is the star power. That is what is special about Rupert.

Interviewer: Making a Harry Potter movie now, number – what are we up to?

RG: We're on the fifth one now, The Order of the Phoenix.

Interviewer: And are you signed up through Harry Potter and the Old People's Home? I mean, you guys are growing, gonna go to college, and then get jobs, be unemployed , and ... and ... right? [laughter] Have families, get divorces, and then it's uh ...

RG: Who knows, yeah, I guess so. But I think there's going to be seven books, so I guess we'll do most of them.

JB: At which time he retires.

[laughter]

Interviewer: Well we're gonna end up working for you.

RG: Yeah [laughter]

Interviewer: And a nicer guy we couldn't do. Next time dress up a lil’ [jokingly]

RG: Oh yeah [laughter]

Interviewer: Rupert, Jeremy, thank you so much. The film again is called Driving Lessons. It opens at Tribeca tonight, and then look for it in theatres around the country because someone smart's gonna pick it up, that's for sure.
