Pirate Copies of POA On sale In Hong Kong - Pirate Copies Of POA

Summary:
Pirated Harry Potter DVDs on sale in Hong Kong before film opens

Article:

HONG KONG (AFP) - Pirated DVDs of the lastest Harry Potter movie are already on sale in Hong Kong days before the boy wizard officially arrives to cast his spell on local cinemas.

Discs of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," some with Korean subtitles, were sold in a Hong Kong market for about 20 dollars each (2.6 US dollars), the South China Morning Post said Tuesday.

The third installment of Harry's adventures, the film has already proved a box office hit in the United States and Britain.

The film took in 93.7 million US dollars in its first weekend in the United States.

The bespectacled boy wizard's first film outing, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," grossed 43.3 million Hong Kong dollars in the former British colony while "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" earned 38.3 million dollars.

The first two Potter films earned around 1.8 billion US dollars worldwide.

A movie industry official told the Post that the pirated DVDs were known to be available in Hong Kong and the neighbouring city of Shenzhen in China from where most pirated DVDs have been smuggled.

"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," the third film adaptation based on British author J.K. Rowling's books about the young magician, opens in Hong Kong on July 8.

Keeper of Mr Tennant's specs

It is banned in china and i think in Hongkong to but i may be wrong.

i think part of the reason it sells so well on pirate is,

A) it costs more for 1 person to go to cinema to see POA than it does to by the copy!

B) it takes so long to come out on DVD in the UK in America Dvds are usualy coming out of films that were are just geting.

C) Dvds are expensive.

But that i no excuse and in HongKong i think that they have other peoplems not just Harry Potter.

Yep,its costs £5.50 p.p at my local pictures and it only cost £4-£5 for a pirate copy but for me i dont need to pay for the pics anymore the pleasure of having a boyfriend that works at the pics.....not just going out with him for that..he also kind, quite handsome, funny.

anyway...i agree with YOU!

How long does it take for them to come out on DVD in the U.K.? It still takes a long time in the United States. Forever,it seems like...

If you live in the U.S., where can you buy these pirated copies? :whisle:

(Just kidding, though I would like a response...)

NYC!!! There are street vendors selling them all over the place there. And the cops walk by like they're not even there.

When my brother went down to London there was this guy selling pirate copies, but he didn't buy one. They were £5. But, I've seen one pirate copy of The Day After Tomorrow and it's really bad quality, so we won't be buying anymore. I like waiting for the proper copies, the packaging, the quality of the sound and picture, the special features this is why people buy DVDs. I'll be waiting like everyone else for the proper one, it may be out in November, so not long

Its happening everywhere, I can get them really easily where I live. I don't agree with it entirely and have never bought one but I have watched one. I watched the first Scooby Doo and the quality was amazing, so they can be good...
