How do I send in news tips?
Broadly speaking, as Harry Potter is such a huge fandom, we try to be as inclusive as possible. This means we report stories on J.K. Rowling, the books, the movies, and the cast and the crew. News tips can be sent to us via
this link or the ‘Send in News’ button on the home page.

What is your policy on gossip/paparazzi/rumours?
We don't touch on the personal lives of those involved with Harry Potter. We're not a tabloid. When there are stories which involve rumours, we will always make it clear that the details are unconfirmed. We also do not post private pictures or those taken by the paparazzi.

What constitute spam?
The commenting feature is there for members to genuinely respond to the news articles. Any rude behavior, disrespect toward staff or other members, unauthorized advertising, shotgun posting, irrelevant comments or other site rule breakage will result in warnings or infractions. Additionally, comments stating 'first to post' will result in our editing or possibly deleting the post; continued ‘first to post’ spams will result in a warning.

Why are some news stories “stuck”?
We “stick” some stories from time to time at the top of the news forum, depending on their importance. Also, we tend to stick our latest exclusives so they're easy to find.

Why are some contests restricted to certain countries?
While we make every endeavour to hold contests that are open to members worldwide, sometimes it just isn’t possible. There are a variety of reasons for this. A company sponsoring a giveaway might restrict the regions they are willing to ship to, some prizes won’t work in certain areas of the world (ex.
Region 1 DVDs will work in North America, but nowhere else in the world, Region 2 for Europe, etc.) or some prizes are shipped directly to SnitchSeeker and we have to pay the shipping costs (and being nonprofit, we can’t always afford to ship worldwide, though we do so as often as we can).
Because we appreciate the kindness of our sponsors who allow us to offer some amazing prizes on our site, posts stating that it’s “unfair” or “sucks” that a particular contest is restricted in the area you happen to live in (or other similar comments) will be removed, and you will be notified via PM. Warnings will be issued if similar complaints continue in the news threads.
