| | | More with Alfonso Cuaron
In a continuation of the story we reported on earlier this week on Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuaron, SlashFilm has released more excerpts from the interview and thrown in some comments from Guillermo Del Toro, the director who recommended Cuaron for the job after he himself had turned it down. Cuaron admits he, too, almost turned it down. Quote:
"I never read the books or seen the movies so I was kind of arrogant about it," Cuarón confessed. Del Toro scolded the director over the phone telling him to read the book and call him back. "I called him back and said Man, this is brilliant. And he said 'Yeah, and you have to do it."
Del Toro doesn’t regret his decision to turn down the film. Quote:
I think he did a much better job that I would have ever done. Alfonso believes in youth much more than I do.
Cuaron also revealed that J.K. Rowling called him a few weeks ago about his new film, Children of Men. Quote:
She really loved Children of Men. And we started talking and I said that it was a tough process doing the movie because of the brutality of what you're doing, of what we're picturing. And then she conveyed to me, 'yes, yes, it's been hard for me because when you do writing about hard stuff, you have to sleep with that.' But I don't go into details.
And how does Cuaron feel Rowling will end the final book? Quote:
How do you create the ending of a saga which is not a downer if Harry dies? And this is the only thing I am certain, that whatever she does is going to have an amazing kind of spin at the end. Because she's aware of what Harry Potter is and means in terms of the collective consciousness of humanity. Whatever she will do, I don't think it's going to be careless.

I agree with Him, whatever JK does with the last book will most certainly have an amazing spin. Ooo...I can't wait.
And I hope Alfonso does another HP movie! That would be the best! Because he is brilliant at what he does. |

Not Alfonso. No no no. Don't ruin anymore movies
I do agree with him about how JKR will end the series. Whether Harry lives or dies, the ending will be like that for a reason.

I hope all of these opinions are not forcing JKR into an ending which we all would not like to see.

| Ultimate Potterite Original original That's it!
I've had very much so enough of this guy! He frustrates me and he is a complete idiot. I do not like his directing skills at all. He made a train wreck of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and I'd much rather he kept his nose out of anymore Potter business. If he directed another HP movie, I can honestly say that I would not see it.
Here's a good hint at a director: M. Night Shamaylan. He'd be wonderful with HBP or Book 7 because he's good with the darker side and making things more appropriately creepy! |

I love Alfonso Cuaron to the death. I enjoyed PoA. But I do think that M. Night Shamaylan would be a better choice. The 7th book is obviously going to be darker...I prefer: M. Night Shamaylan.
