| | | M. Night Shyamalan offered 'Philosopher's Stone'
M. Night Shyamalan has revealed, during interviews promoting his latest film Lady in the Water, that he was offered to direct ' Philosopher's Stone'. Quote:
"You know, that Harry Potter dance has gone on a long time," he told us. "The problem is that it is a living breathing thing now, all by itself. When it comes over to my camp, it needs to be kind of handed over, adoption papers and everything. That's a tricky move.
"I haven't met with J.K. [Rowling]," he continued. "The first one was offered to me, but that conflicted with 'Unbreakable,' which was unfortunate. I would definitely, but I think probably before that I would adapt a book. I've gotten close a few times to adapting books."
Shyamalan's other works include The Village, Signs, Stuart Little and The Sixth Sense. |

I'm glad he didn't take on Hp. His movies are so boring. Like The village. I hated that movie

He's good. But I don't think he is exactly right for the HP seriers.

Man! That would have made the movie SO much better. M. Night Shyamalan is such a good director.
Hide and Seek and Sixth Sense rocked hard!
He should do HBP! YESH!

That would've been interesting. If Shyamalan helmed PS/SS, it would definitely would've been darker. His material suits older audiences though, so he might do well directing some of the later Potter films.

It's hard to imagine how the movies woulda turned out if he had done them! As far as I know, Shyamalan directs dark, scary movies most of the time, doesn't he? Then again, he did Stuart Little... lol
I suppose we'll never know. It would have been interesting though.
