| | | Luna Lovegood Casting Decision Expected In January
David Heyman previously announced that they were down to five potential Luna's. It has now been revealed that the actress to play the part of the Ravenclaw fourth year will be annouced in January according to CBBC Newsround. Quote:
Over the past few weeks, several sites and message boards on the internet have featured teenagers saying that they are one of the final five with many of them posting photographs of themselves.
Girls who are really in the last few have been asked to keep the news secret and Warner Brothers say that as far as they are aware, none of the names or photographs of the girls genuinely in the last five have appeared on any website.
The entire article can be viewed here.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Dake Juke Sixth Year | Hmmm.....well thats...nice. I really wish I could have auditioned for Luna Lovegood. She is my favourite. I relate to her on so many levels. I hope the girl they get though is good. I have incredibly high expectations and am going to be very brutal as I always am with the movies. Not only am I judging the accuracy of the character according to the books but the acting and also this is my favourite character. She is one lucky girl, whoever she may be. I think I would have done really well as Luna...despite the lack of blonde hair....thats what wigs are for! Much love! ~Aria~ |

I'm sure Im not the only one who would be happy about that. Quote:

I for one hope she's good, Luna was a great character in the books, and I allways did like her for her constant daydreams XD I agree to a point. For me I see Luna as an easy role. But I relate to her on such a high level so....for someelse it might be tough. I do love her though and hope that it works well. I havent always been happy with the casting descisions. (ie: Michael whatever his name is the new Dumbledore or Cho...meh..there are others but some people might just kill me. LOL) Well I am off to bed. Be back later. Much love! ~Aria~

Well, she is sort of an easy and a hard role to. The way Rowling described her, well, your going to need someone who is such a natural weirdo. Although, I'm sure if she [Rowling] was to check this site, I don't think it would take very long to find a weird person. Were all a little obsessed!
I know this is off the subject, but how do I change my avatar to a custom one? I already have one, I just don't know where to go. -.-

Do you realise how long that would take? Not everyone lives in the States. To make it 'fair' to everyone it'd have to be global.

I already have one, I just don't know where to go. -.- Its not about being a natural weirdo, its about being able to act well. Really well. Luna has layers, so in that she is a hard character. I only say she is easy because I relate to her and when the 6th book came out I dressed up and acted like her and all my friends were like...you should be Luna which I've wanted to since I read the 5th book. Sorry but I cant help with the avy thing. I dont know how.... Quote:

I know what I said was just the states but I meant global I just didn't say it. It was late. I wasn't really coherent, just completely exhausted. I do know it would take forever and in the sence of time...yeah we are all out of luck there, so meh.... I was more or less defending those Americans that can do english accents because of what that one person said about not wanting an American. I thought it was rude so I wasn't thinking about elaborating...meh. Yeah. But it would be nice if they were global....oh well...I knew Ishould have been born in England. Darn fate!...lol. ~Aria~ |

The films don't just use English accents...there isn't a standard 'English' accent contrary to popular belief. There are all sorts of dialects. And please don't use England when you really mean UK; the words aren't interchangable and England isn't the only country in Great Britain. They're not saying 'We don't want Americans', they're saying 'We need British actors'. It's just certain nations make it more personal than it ought to be. But primarily the decision is down to JK. It makes sense to have the actors the same nationality as the characters...hence Krum and Fleur so it isn't British dominated.

I know the film doesn't just use English accents and I know there isnt a standard english. I have many accent tapes and can do many different accents from the UK. I didn't mean to offend you by saying "England", I know there is more than one country, but I actually was not refering to the whole. I am not saying the director screen writers or casting directors are saying that, I was talking to the girl who said something that most likely she didnt mean to say so rudely but it came off rudely. Of course its up to JK, I am not stupid, I do know that. |

Oh, but why not? I mean the film shoots in most of the countries, uses actors from different countries and of course, Hogwarts is in Scotland lol
Thing is you said 'defending Americans who can...' when there's no attack on them. I just don't see the basis for a logical argument against the British casting decision. If not for authenticity but for legal reasons, as pointed out to a girl once by Heyman and expressed many a time by casting agents nationally. Casting locally just makes sense and that is much the same for many productions, not just HP.

| About Luna
I really hope that WB does a good job casting Luna. She is very important in the Order of the Phx. I really hope that they do the scene when she sees the ghost horses.
The have a difficult task to find someone weird and cute.
Cheers,
Sage

I don't know why they just wont tell us who she is though. Its not like we're all going to jump on her completely. Though it must be really hard cause they narrowed it down to five and four are not making it.
