| | | J.K.Rowling to attend Queen's Birthday Bash
J.K.Rowling is to attend a children's literature themed party at Buckingham Palace on June 25th for the Queen's 80th birthday.
3000 tickets are available to the public in a ballot. Children entering must be between the ages of 4 - 14 and, if they win, they will be able to take a friend and an adult along with them to the party.
Many British books and characters are to be celebrated also with the aim of promoting reading amongst children. Events will include a play based on Roald Dahl's BFG. Quote:
'I can think of no better way to mark the Queen's 80th birthday than with a party for children at the Palace with some of the best loved characters from children's literature. Harry and I are very much looking forward to attending, particularly as we understand that, despite his alleged membership of the aristocracy, Lord Voldemort has not been invited.'
JK Rowling
Quote:
At 6pm, a specially written show will be staged in the Garden, lasting around an hour and a half. The show is being broadcast live on BBC1. CBBC will also be at the Party to go behind the scenes and bring you all the best bits.
For a chance to win tickets, go to this page. Terms and Conditions can be found here and here - you have to be British to apply for tickets. The draw closes on February 28th.
In the name of nostalgia, pictures from the announcement of the plans, featuring much-loved children's characters, can be seen here. UPDATE: Apparently Dan Radcliffe is NOT going to be attending the event. |

Don't see why he's not though because generally As Level exams are over by June 25th. Mind you, he does have filming as well. Quote:
HPANA didn't have it up and DR.com never put it up... and I thought too that June had to be a conflicting time for Dan.
DR.com did, as a rumour, then they confirmed it with someone and then it was denied. A little confusing and odd, granted, but now we know he isn't going. So much for the BBC being Public Service *pokes them*

I gathered that when Jo said that her and Harry are looking forward to attending, she was meaning Harry as in a literature character sense and not referring to Dan, I think a few peeps got a big confused. Poor Dan, he will always have this 'Harry Potter' referrel surrounding him for a long time to come yet.

I don't think it was that that made the BBC think it. Most likely he was invited but turned it down because of filming.

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

Voldemort is supposed to go with Jo, not Harry. Well, JK should better watch out for herself since Voldemort's temper is likely to rise

V. nice. While they're over there someone should suggest filling up the long-vacant post of the royal wizard/counselor.
